Looks great, but did they change the design? I liked the old renderings better.

:dunno: Old renderings? this is a totally new project and design presented just last night, maybe you're talking about Estadio Internacional Monterrey, the one in this thread is called Estadio de Futbol Monterrey, not Internacional Monterrey, they are two different projects, although until yesterday, Internacional Stadium was still considering Monterrey to join the project. But as you can see here, that didn't happend.

By the way, according to Estadio Internacional's webpage, the project is still in progress...But now without the Monterrey Soccer Team, the other professional soccer team in the city are Tigres, and it seems that Estadio Internacional is still talking with them.

www.estadiointernacionalmonterrey.com

Before, there were Tigres (Yellow), Mexico (Green), and Monterrey's Rayados (Blue) colors shown in their site...

HOK Sport wing unveils 'Armadillo' stadium

By Dan Stewart

New York-based MASS Studio designs metallic-clad 50,000-seat football stadium in Mexico

MASS Studio, the special project wing of architecture firm HOK Sport, has unveiled designs for a 50,000-seat armadillo-style stadium in Monterrey, Mexico.

The Estadio de Futbol sits at the foot of the Cerro de la Silla mountain, which MASS's architects said inspired the 55m cantilevered roof and metallic “armature” cladding.

Christopher Lee, MASS's senior principal and designer of the stadium, said: “The Estadio de Fútbol Monterrey will challenge the expectations of what a modern world-class football stadium can be. The stadium will be the most atmospheric football stadium in Latin America; the perfect football stadium.”

MASS works in parallel with HOK Sport to work on special projects and research and develop mass assembly buildings.

Design for New Stadium in Monterrey Revealed

Date: Sept 10th 2008 Project: Monterrey Stadium

HOK Sport recently unveiled the design for The Estadio de Fútbol in Monterrey, Mexico. The 50,000 seat world class stadium will be the canter in the restored and enhanced Parque La Pastora, Monterrey's new recreational and leisure destination.

Sitting at the foot of the Cerro de la Silla, the stadium's dramatic asymmetric sweeping form pays homage to the famous mountain and its metallic 'armature' cladding make reference to the industrial heritage of Monterrey.

Senior principal of HOK Sport and stadium designer Christopher Lee says:

"The Estadio de Fútbol Monterrey will challenge the expectations of what a modern world class football stadium can be. The stadium will be the most atmospheric football stadium in Latin America; a brilliant football stadium."

The seating bowl is designed to have the most 'intense atmosphere' in any Latin American Stadium, with spectators located as close to the pitch as possible with excellent views of the event. A vast 55 meter cantilevered roof covers all spectators, providing an unsurpassed level of spectator comfort.

The Estadio de Fútbol Monterrey will be a world class stadium that Rayados fans and the people of Monterrey will call their own.

19 September 2008

HOK Sport has unveiled the first images of a new 50,000 capacity football stadium in Monterrey, Mexico.

The Estadio de Fútbol will be the new home for the Monterrey team, Los Rayados.

It has been designed to create an “intense atmosphere”, with a seating bowl that places spectators as close to the pitch as possible.

The stadium’s 55m-span cantilevered roof will protect the spectators from the elements, while overlapping sheet metal cladding references Monterrey’s industrial heritage.

Estadio de Fútbol will occupy a central position in the newly restored Parque La Pastora. This is located at the foot of the Cerro de la Silla mountain, the “saddle” shape of which also influenced the design of the stadium.

On this case is very practical, if you read the stadium press release from HOK, you'll realized that the design was influenced by the mountain which is the symbol of Monterrey.

Estadio de Fútbol will occupy a central position in the newly restored Parque La Pastora. This is located at the foot of the Cerro de la Silla mountain, the “saddle” shape of which also influenced the design of the stadium.

Monterrey Stadium wins AIA Award

HOK Sport’s design for the Fútbol Club de Monterrey’s new Stadium in Monterrey Mexico, has won a Citation Award from American Institute of Architects (AIA central states).

The 50,000 seat aluminium clad building pays homage to the iconic Cerro de la Silla mountain range that dominates the city of Monterrey.

The design of the stadium is led from the New York studio.

I quite like this stadium, although it is very similar to Lansdowne Road.

^^Very similar indeed, but not quite the same.

Is the one in Belfast a proposal?, is it going to be built soon?

Did HOK Sport designed it too?

Greetings

The picture in question is definitely of the proposed stadium at The Maze / Long Kesh in Northern Ireland.

The stadium is a proposal at the moment and has been for a very long time. There are various political issues with the building of this stadium that have been dragged out for a few years now. Basically, the whole thing is on the verge of being scrapped and is universally unpopular amongst football fans in Northern Ireland, disliked by about 60% or more of the rugby union fans. The site is a joke - £124m or so is set aside for improving transport routes to the stadium. At a total cost of £240m for 35,000 seats, it's absurdly costly - it's due to cost about £300 each per tax payer in Northern Ireland.

It's not in Belfast. In fact, it's not even really in anywhere - it's on the site of a former prison, near Lisburn, and is a good 10 miles from Belfast.

The proposed design is known to have changed from the render, so if, by some miracle, it does get built, it will look different than the currently available render. The render available shows a lower tier that can hold 18,000 seats or 25,000 in a mix of seats and standing space. The executive boxes are also on the third level in this render.

According to Mike Reid, CEO of Ulster Rugby, this has since been changed to a lower tier containing 20,000 seats or 25,000 with a mix of seats and standing space and the executive boxes have been lowered to level two. Apparently, this is to give a fully enclosed lower bowl that would be most suitable for Ulster Rugby.

Monterrey, Mexico (August 7, 2011) .- A day after the Semarnat endorsed the Monterrey Soccer Stadium in La Pastora, the Mayor of Guadalupe Ivonne Alvarez, yesterday reiterated his support for the project and noted that his administration will seek to give the building permits as soon as possible.

"Guadalupe is not going to put any obstacle nor will we block the project," he said Alvarez. "We are 100 percent in favor."

The official stressed the seriousness of the studies of Femsa, which owns Rayados, therefore, considered that there will be no difficulty in building the new stadium.

"Once issued and the records (Femsa), we will do everything possible so that they comply with each of the requirements, we may be having as soon as the authorization to begin the benefits to our town," said .

The official stressed that the work will create about 2 000 jobs in Guadeloupe.

To avoid congestion, he added, is analyzed with the State Government a road plan that will include two overpasses on Avenida Las Americas, in its crosses with Eloy Cavazos and Benito Juárez.

Three years after its initial announcement, the project of about 200 billion won on Friday the environmental permits SEMARNAT, surpassing its last major step after a process full of obstacles and controversy.

Together with municipal construction permits, environmental clearance needed from the State Government, which, however, has always expressed support for the project.

• The foundation stone for the building will be in mid-October
• This will start work next Monday for the rescue of the flora and fauna of the land where the stadium will be located
• The building will be constructed over a period of 30 months
Monterrey Stadium will soon begin to take shape with the announcement of this day's work for the start of construction of the whole house of Monterrey, the first building stone could be made in mid-October.

José González Ornelas, CEO of Femsa and Tonathiu Mejia, Director of the stadium project, made the announcement at a press conference in The Neighborhood.

Accompanied by Jorge Urdiales and Luis Miguel Salvador, CEO and Sports Club albiazul, respectively, both responsible for the stadium, reported the steps to be taken from Monday to start the construction stage will be located in the municipality of Guadalupe and whose capacity will be for approximately 52 000 fans.

"As we know, the stadium will be for just over 50 thousand fans, the stands will be indoor, grass is natural, the proximity of the grandstand as the field is nine meters" This final step occurs after the last Friday Semarnat, which was the last filter for approval, granted permission to give the project the green light.

Ornelas said that as reported in a statement the Federal agency, the construction of the stadium will not generate a negative environmental impact on the environment of Parque La Pastora, adjacent to the land where the new house built scratched.

The high command's management said it would be in Monterrey on Monday when it starts with the fulfillment of certain conditions to start with this book, whose project was announced three years ago, but it will in the coming weeks when you start to realize .

"Already Semarnat authorizations obtained, we have begun negotiations with the State Government to obtain permits that mark the local rearrangements, we estimate that by the end of August, local authorities may have analyzed the technical studies that are being presented and , based on them, we hope to cast their eventual approval, just as with the city of Guadalupe we to handle building permits, this will be after obtaining permission from the State Government and we believe this takes about 10 days " said Jose Gonzalez.

"The rescue of the flora and fauna of the site, which will start on Monday, will last about 30 days later will start with the trim of the property over 18 hectares, this will go on for about 30 days, we estimate mid- October, the excavation of what will be the footprint of the stadium and starting the formal process of constructing the same, "said Ornelas.

Meanwhile Aguirre, Director of the project, described some of the features of the new stage of Monterrey.

In this way, and after several battles fought in the area of permissions that took nearly three years, will release team Rayados their new home in the year 2014, since the construction will take 30 months.

Before the announcement of the start of building the stadium, Ornelas said that larger commitment, in addition to the team, is with his faithful followers, adding that in the coming weeks will release the mechanical cost of sales fertilizers.

"Now what we need is to try to realize what we have just proved, we just need to build the stadium, this will take approximately 30 months from now and we sleep and dream after that sitting enjoying the opening of the stadium. "

- How do you feel now that it takes this step? - "Fairly pleased that finally took an important step which is to have permission from SEMARNAT and on the other hand we are still aware of what we need, and after that, we committed to crystallize this dream of us and all the followers of our team. "

After years in the planning, and some controversy, the stadium for one of the best teams in Mexico is now under construction. This stadium will seat around 50, 00 people. This stadium is located in the municipality of Guadalupe, inside the "La Pastora" forest, and it's said that this stadium will be very eco-friendly.

is there any talk they will get NFL games here? I think Dallas or Houston playing a preseason or regular season game there would make more sense than playing in london...

^^ Yes. in fact they have already played here a few times but recently there are no plans for an NFL game .. but I think there are many possibilities to come back .. something like New England vs Dallas would be perfect: lol:
