Sunflower October 19th, 2002, 11:22 PM It really doesn't look like it was completed 2 years ago. Very uninteresting building.
3.5/10
Subdude October 20th, 2002, 03:49 AM 3/10. It looks cheap somehow, like a jumbo version of a condo on some Florida beach.
AG October 20th, 2002, 04:50 AM Yikes, very thin. It's roof is vg, and it's shape is not bad, just needs a few more curves.
7.5/10
SUNNI October 20th, 2002, 07:12 AM 10. Thin and gives the effect of a supertall;)
enzo October 20th, 2002, 10:45 AM I LOVE the height and slim profile but they lost me towards the top floors. A nicely woven residential all the way up until you hit the cheap looking roof. 7/10
RafflesCity October 20th, 2002, 06:16 PM 7.5/10
I like its slimness which makes it look so tall and its roof. But points off for the cheap-looking facade.

I agree!
CTroyMathis October 21st, 2002, 04:09 AM I gave it a seven. That is a copper roof right? If it is, the building could look it's best after some weather has turned it's crown green.
Jeff from Winnipeg October 21st, 2002, 06:03 AM I like how slim it is as well, makes it look very tall... not too much else to say about it though. ->7.5
ryanr October 23rd, 2002, 04:52 AM Looks cheap. 5/10. But i do like the slimness of the building, makes it look really tall!
TYW October 26th, 2002, 12:43 PM 8/10
nice and tall
Pablo October 26th, 2002, 04:57 PM looks tall and thin...hmm nice

Are you blind man?
The changing colours, the shapes, the crown, thew thin, tall look!
This building looks great. 6/10
Area looks a bit barren though.
SteelCity32 October 26th, 2002, 08:10 PM don't really care for the 4 spires. But the whole thing looks good. 7/10
DrumCorpsAlum November 6th, 2002, 07:17 PM 8/10. Tall and slender. I like.
De Snor November 6th, 2002, 09:39 PM Looks like a large copy of the nearby Old Water Tower !
A 9 !!
Caledon1981 November 7th, 2002, 01:03 AM its got its ups and downs . . . but it probably looks better up close. . . 6/10
Liz L November 7th, 2002, 02:53 PM 7 - It's so slim that it takes to the sky well. and its curves, not to mention that bay window and the indentations, make it more interesting than a plain box, but the lower part of the facade is kind of tacky, and the facade as a whole could use a little something more, though I can't decide what that would be. I'm not sure about that roof...
Steven November 10th, 2002, 01:35 AM It doesn't look to bad it could use some fat around the waist though.
8/10
Bobdreamz December 15th, 2002, 04:27 AM very tall & slim...looks like a pencil!!...this one soars into the sky and actually looks taller than it is....some have called it cheap but I bet it's not cheap to live there!!...not bad for a residential tower...8/10
Westin Peachtree December 15th, 2002, 04:44 AM WOW! I've got to say...this place looks supertall! It is sooo thin it makes it look as if it is soaring into the sky. I hope a plane doesn't run into this one, i'd topple right over.
I love the roof....I don't dislike the spires, nor do I like them. Is that possibie? After looking at the facade, it appears that it was a last minute budget type of thing....they could have done it MUCH nicer.
They did well with what they had though. For height, and slimness ;). this gets a 7!
renell February 7th, 2003, 10:13 PM cheap looking facade, gots some height, its slim... gets a 6.5 from me
mookiecece February 10th, 2003, 12:17 AM so slim and tall... I think it looks great being a residential tower
8.5/10
johonbravo February 15th, 2003, 04:06 AM i pressed 6.5, but i meant 5.5.......ohw ell its just not my type of building.
Wu-Gambino February 23rd, 2003, 09:26 AM 8/10
Nice and slim, and it looks pretty cool from JHC.
The Messiah February 23rd, 2003, 06:32 PM Oh yeah this baby looks slim!:)Like it.
8.0/10
bay_area March 14th, 2003, 11:26 AM This building looks dizzyingly tall cause its "thin"-top looks rather cheap
Evergrey April 11th, 2003, 03:33 AM 9 That's a residential!?!? WOW! I think this a great "old-looking" new building... most residentials are ugly and bland... but this thing looks grand... The top looks like it's probably copper... which certainly wouldn't be cheap
airsickpenthousedweller April 17th, 2003, 11:43 PM Incredible base-height ratio. So much so that the exact number of floors seem to have been decided by chance.
TropicalSQ744 May 4th, 2003, 11:55 AM Looks like some cheap resedential highrise!! :bash: But man it's slim and that's good! ;)

Falcaonet June 12th, 2003, 06:11 AM It reminds me of a Lego construction, when you pile all blocks up and up and up...
Well i liked Lego, so 6.5/10
james2390 June 14th, 2003, 10:31 AM nice! 10, it reminds me of the one atlantic center and 191 peachtree
Necker June 17th, 2003, 09:29 PM It's really thin, so it looks taller. I like this effect, but the building is... ugly. 6/10
SFtoBoise August 30th, 2003, 03:55 AM 8.5/10
I would do anything to live in a room with a balcony there.
AtlanticaC5 August 30th, 2003, 02:51 PM It looks cool, and it's so slim. 8/10

manx_bkk November 20th, 2003, 08:02 AM 8/10
Very tall looking thin & sleek tower, nice shape & design.
sjambler November 25th, 2003, 07:37 PM 7.5/10
It's okay, and I think it looks good to have more tall buildings grouped around both JHC and Sears.
baqthier December 5th, 2003, 06:22 AM Slenderness won it some points. The design isn't appealing.
6.5/10
Cliff December 6th, 2003, 03:14 AM it looks too tall I think.
But the sense of luxury is definately there, and I would really want to stay up there!
design is ok.7.5/10
qwerty1324 December 6th, 2003, 09:06 PM It actually looks pretty cool in person and the building is really skinny - like a pencil.
8.0
Schroedinger's Cat January 26th, 2004, 05:21 PM Interesting !

Aquarius February 7th, 2004, 08:06 PM By the style seems a house of the suburbs, I do not like it for a skyscraper 3/10
These balconies are dangerous!!!!!!
Style™ February 8th, 2004, 03:58 AM 7.5/10 Tall and slender. I like! :)
7 World Trade May 7th, 2004, 04:22 AM too skinny... skinny skyscrapers with small bases gives me the creeps. but the building's details are awesome.
8
CULWULLA May 7th, 2004, 04:39 AM this really is what skyscrapers are all about! its slenderness, its sleek lines, its rooftop termination. brilliant! 10/10
if you love skyscrapers (and thats why were all here), you would love this one. its screams>> SKYSCRAPER!!!
it compliments the historic water tower perfectly and at nearly 260m tall, it would of been one of the tallest apartment towers in the world if the lower floors werent put aside for hotel use.
glorious!!!
this pic is very cool>

Mr.Skyscraper July 3rd, 2004, 06:30 AM 10/10
Great looking building. If the roof is made out of copper, then it will look much better when some time and weather turn it green like the Statue of Liberty. I love its tall, slim look.
Chicago does it best when it comes to skyscrapers!
Þróndeimr July 24th, 2004, 04:05 PM The tower looks great on the rederings which was made before it was made, but here the tower became to brown and easy. But still the tower is thin and tall, 5.5/10
Jules July 26th, 2004, 02:34 AM I love it's shape and design, 9.5.
Justadude July 27th, 2004, 06:41 PM Some people say cheap, I say old-school. 8/10
yoyo22 July 27th, 2004, 09:46 PM 9/10
Justadude, you said it right, Old School. I feel most buildings that try to look old fail miserably, but this one succeeds. I love the buttress near the bottom, and the facade, while plain, is quite pleasing. The top is great. This building tried to do a lot of very difficult things and pulled them off, this is a great skyscraper. Feels tall, and the balconies are nice without overwhelming the building (see Bayioke in Bangkok for one that failed). Excellent building.
DamienK July 29th, 2004, 01:58 PM Nice slimness, but the strong yellow colouring is gaudy. 7/10
Dubai-Lover August 27th, 2004, 09:06 PM definitely don't like it! 4
SChristopher August 31st, 2004, 04:22 AM 8...very awesome
Monkey September 17th, 2004, 09:39 PM 7/10
Nice and slim. Overall design is a bit ordinary though. Certainly nothing to get excited over.
Imperial September 17th, 2004, 09:50 PM 7/10
mk61 September 17th, 2004, 11:33 PM Too retro, too brown, really really ugly roof. Only thing going for it is its height and slimness.
Zuelas November 2nd, 2004, 10:39 PM 9.5
Very impressive and soaring in person. It has a classic design that is well-suited to the area. If I was going to live in Chicago, this is where it'd be. Another great addition to the Chicago skyline. Shoot, it's taller than the tallest bldgs in most cities and the views are amazing.

MattSal March 18th, 2005, 02:35 AM I couldn't hate this tower if I tried. I've liked it since the first day I saw it in a picture. I give it a 9/10.
Anas Anani March 18th, 2005, 02:50 AM Great tower building!
Azn_chi_boi March 26th, 2005, 11:44 PM tall and slim but looks old fashion. Makes the water tower(the castel like building not the tower) look like an ant. 8f rom me.
i_am_hydrogen March 29th, 2005, 03:52 AM I like the slimness of this building. The color could be better. At sunset, it looks really gorgeous.
7/10.
JRQ April 3rd, 2005, 06:09 AM Whoever thought of making it so slim was smart....it looks much taller than it is. The colors and design go together well.

I don't like the side with the balconies. Colors are not good. Apart for this, it's an OK residential tower.

Minneapolitan May 12th, 2005, 08:21 AM Ugly color, so thin a 45 mph wind gust could snap it in two, and sick looking roof. I couldnt believe someone actually approved this building's construction. Sorry to be so harsh, I just really dislike this building.......um....something nice to say.....go CHICAGO!....??

In person its height has the ability to sway your judgement of it (it person its a 9-9.5) but looking at the actual elements of design in it I have to reduce points off. The thing that gets me the most is the fact it appears as though its trying to be a high rise from another decade with the ornamental topping. However the plus is how slender it is and seems to poke into the clouds during summer days, great contrast to those goliath bases they are building off of (Trump Tower for example)
FREKI February 11th, 2006, 02:45 AM 7/10 - I like the height... and the shape.. and that's about that..

It's amazing this was completed in 2000. It looks really art deco and complements Michigan Ave.'s style and history quite well. But aside from having some older-style touches, it's kinda bland. If the designers were after a retro theme, they accomplished it maybe a little too well because it's a "haven't I seen this building before?" scenario that's going on in my head. The height is impressive at least. Suits Chicago and Michigan Ave., just makes me *yawn*
Facial January 7th, 2007, 11:44 AM Interesting color, and decently tall, but I don't get much feel from this. 8.

MelboyPete February 7th, 2007, 03:21 PM 3/10....'oldest' looking 'recently' build scraper I've ever seen.
poshbakerloo February 9th, 2007, 08:52 PM 8/10, i gave it this because i like the style and shape and height, but i think it could do with more around the bottom of it.
xAKxRUSx April 3rd, 2007, 04:29 AM Yuck.
I like brick, but this one is ugly.
EnDleSsWaLtZ April 5th, 2007, 05:28 PM I give it a 8/10 It's like they mixed old Chicago with New Chicago arcitecture and they got Park Tower... Not my top favorites but still a nice building.

Cardpooch April 22nd, 2007, 11:23 PM I don't understand why so many are giving this building a low score just because it looks 'old'. I think a lot of people on here have already pointed out why this building is so successful. It looks like it's been standing there for decades despite the fact it is one of the newest additions to the city skyline. That was precisely the goal of this project from the beginning and it can be rather difficult to pull that off. Obviously, it worked judging from the comments on here.
And the facade and street presence of this building is anything but cheap. In fact, if anything it makes most glassy structures look delicate and lightweight by comparison. Despite the slim profile, from street level it still maintains a strong presence. I think the architects did an excellent job of incorporating a high profile art deco style skyscraper into this end of Michigan Ave. More modern designs had recently dominated despite the fact that some of the oldest structures (water tower) exist here. It's a nice connection between different eras.
8/10

Stefan88 September 2nd, 2007, 05:14 AM It looks alot taller than it is due to it's slim profile. The roof is a nice feature but the rest is abit bland. 5/10
Not sure I would want to sit on one of the balconies on the side that high up though.

This building is really more impressive in person. It looks much taller than it really is. I love it. The location next to the old Water Tower right on Michigan Avenue is a nice little bonus.

dark_shadow1 August 10th, 2009, 12:56 AM Completed in 2000? I was sure it's a 50 years old building.
It would receive an 8 from me if it was an old skyscraper, but since it is new 6 seems enough. It's just a shame to build a new skyscraper without using modern-looking materials.
