I do not like this idea of "Tawid-Buhay" project of the government. Its a very, very temporary solution to poverty. They " should teach the people how to fish, and not give them the fish"...waste of money.:bash:


I don't totally agree that its a waste of money. FYI in developed countries like the US, Canada and Europe, they are giving much more benefits to the less privileged than we do here. it is true that it is just a temporary solution but if the government can sustain it in much longer time, the better. It is a fact that we have more underprivileged countrymen and they cant all be businessmen, fishermen and farmers at the same time. A lot of them has just no opportunity at hand to at least uplift their lives. Its not a waste of money because it helps pump-prime the local economies of less developed provinces. At least the money remains in circulation in the locality for quite some time. And its a thousand times better than, if the money is laundered and deposited abroad by unscrupulous politicians in which case does not only deprive the people of the benefits but consequently weakens the purchasing power of our currency hence corrupting the nation's economy.

Sana pagkatapos ng Calbayog sa Catarman naman mag open ang Gaisano, I believe that Catarman is also ripe for a Gaisano Mall. And its already a fact that Catarman had been considered as an alternative to Calbayog for a Gaisano business. Maybe one factor that they consider in proceeding with their business is the peace and order situation in the area.

^^ well, good thing gaisano is actively putting up stores in EV.. :) 2 in tacloban, 2 in ormoc, and soon in sogod, maasin and calbayog.. hehehe

No. The first establishment with elevator in Samar Island is at Hotel Dona Vicenta in Borongan, and the first with escalator is at Welsam Mall also in Borongan. ( your pics is too large perhaps you have to edit/reduce the size in your host web.

i agree mganda and malinis ang cokaliong plus my curtain pa yung bed for privacy, pro lately ngimproved narin ung m/v calbayog malamig nadin ung aircon sa tourist evrytime na sumasakay ako. ung hindi ko lang ngustohan sa m/v Filipinas Dinagat ay wala silang restaurant simpleng canteen lang wala masyadong pgkain mostly mga snacks lang, pero ewan ko lng ngayon.

^^Tama! dapat i-upgrade nalang yung mga existing airports sa Samar lalo na ang Calbayog at Catarman para nman pwde na lumanding ang mga bigger jets (A319/A320) at dumami na ang mga pasahero na sasakay ng airplane sa Samar. Natatakot kasi ang iba dahil turboprop lang ang gamit hehe.

The area used to be occupied by squatters near the port area will be developed into a mixed use property, with government offices, medium rise residential houses, commercial area, baywalk, etc...

That area to be developed is the one seen being razed by fire. Parang the fire made it easier for the LGU to remove the squatters.

Syempre di kasama ang private sector...the LGU will just put the infra (roads etc...) and the private sector will build their own. Its a big amount na for that, if utilized properly. Kukulangin yan if it will be put in somebody's use.:)

qailord seguro main office ng Division of Calbayog City lang hindi sa buong Samar Province kasi yung Division of Samar ay nasa Catbalogan, hindi pwede ma under ng Calbayog ang Division Office ng Catbalogan kasi mas malaki doon at nasa Capital town.

it's OMG! No aircon! Can you imagine that? LOL! anyway I think thats the reason why some of the tarps they recently spread don't have "mall" in the name anymore. It's like this "Prince Baybay" opens on Nov.26 unlike before "Prince Mall of Baybay". Anyway, the feedback was- the inside of the mall (now warehouse?) is hot. But they have cheaper goods inside. Also, my source pointed out that the empty product packaging (cartoon) scattered inside and it's so untidy!
Then my source concluded: it's a "warehouse". The only remaining feel that it's kinda mall is that they have some tenants.
Mang Inasal hasn't opened yet. Some drugstores already opened.
It's like a big Novo or Allison Store but with tenants and without aircon.

^^ hindi lang naman runway length ng airport ung tinitngan para gumamit ng A319 or A320 planes, tinitingnan din nila if commercially viable and feasible if they will use their A319 and A320.. I think mas madami ang pasahero sa Catarman kesa sa Calbayog kasi as far as I know, many people from the Western and Eastern Samar area (supposed to be the target passengers of Calbayog aiport), still prefers to go Tacloban kasi daw mas malalaki ung planes.. I think hindi na malayo, maybe in the near future, na A319 or A320 ang gamitin sa Catarman considering na madaming pasahero.. :)

Via Catarman Nalang kaya ang iba/ Sumasakay nalang ng bus papuntang manila. Naiinis nga ang iba kasi Fully BOOKED d2 sa calbayog. :cheers:

Dear fellow cavers,

Are you the type of person who wouldnt dream of littering, exploiting endangered species, offending your environment and natural heritage, or the type of person who simply enjoy the breathtaking sceneries and take pictures of the different extra-ordinary rock formations, or just enjoy being in the wilderness that will momentarily take you away from the buzz ling life of the city?

Why not join the 7TH EXTREME CAVING organized by the Trexplore The Adventures featuring the countrys biggest cave, the Langun Gobingob Caves in Calbiga, Samar to be held on MAY 27-29, 2011 (FRIDAY-SUNDAY).

Our goal is to promote the great potential of Samar caves in the eco-tourism industry and at the same time, boost awareness in our drive to conserve and protect its archaeological importance.

Maximum of 30 participants will be accepted nationwide on a first come, first served basis of discipline mountaineers, cavers, and environmentalist which will include young professionals, nature lovers, teachers and government employees.

For 3 days cave exploration and 2 nights stay inside the cave, a fee of Php 2,000.00 per person will be collected by the Secretariat upon registration to cover expenses which will include ids, certificate of exploration, t-shirt, souvenier kits, transportation within Calbiga, entrance fees, Mayors permit, Calbiga local tour guide and Trexplore guide.

We would like you to shoulder your own food for the duration of the trip. Bring also with you Caving equipments: like caving helmets, suits or clothes, headlights, flashlights, candles, dry bags,bouyancy aid ,sit harness, garbage bags extra batteries and bulbs, and Camping equipments: like tents, sleeping mat and sleeping bags, camping stoves and cook set, trekking shoes and trekking sandals, camera etc.,
