i Think Mang Inasal will open 1 Branch in Catbalogan & Borongan
Napaka gullible mo talaga...that poster does not really reflect the exact locations of their soon to open branches nor their existing stores. Those Mang Inasal signs spread over the map only shows that they are expanding nationwide.

FYI ang pagkakaalam ko ang Villanuevas are just tenants of the Singzons the real owner of the property you are referring to. The property opposite caltex is the property of Lim Family- owner of Chinabank building. the owner of of the property opposite compre (CNHS) is the Bolos Family- owner of Jaja's store, the rest are owned by the Singzons. yon ang pagkakaalam ko malapit lang kasi bahay namin dito.

qailord May 15th, 2011, 08:39 AM DTI’s Diskwento Caravan rolls off to Eastern Visayas
TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, May 14 (PIA) --- With the enrollment period just around the corner, the Department of Trade and Industry has decided to bring the Diskwento Caravan where mothers and student can shop for school supplies at discounted rates, not only in Metro Manila but also to all the regions of the country.
In Eastern Visayas, Diskwento Sales, will be conducted in the province of Samar particularly at Catbalogan City on June 10 and Calbayog City on June 14, Atty. Lemuel Montes of DTI Region 8 said.
In Eastern Samar, the Diskwento Sales will be conducted in Borongan City on June 6 to 10 while in Northern Samar, the Diskwento Sale will be conducted on August 3-5.
The other Diskwento Sales in the Region will be conducted on June 22- 23 at Naval, Biliran; June 23-24 at Tacloban City Leyte by DTI Leyte; and on June 26- 27 at Rizal Elementary School in Tacloban City under the management of DTI Region 8.
Trade and Industry Secretary Gregory L. Domingo gave instructions to his undersecretary for regional operations, regional and provincial directors to coordinate with manufacturers of prime and basic commodities to sell discounted products in provinces and allow consumers in the countryside purchase products for as low as factory prices.
“We also want those consumers in various regions to experience the reduced prices of goods sold at the caravan which Metro Manila residents were afforded,” Secretary Domingo said.
The caravan is participated in by manufacturers which sell wares ranging from generic medicines, bread, sardines, cooking oil, processed meat, fruits, vegetables, detergent bars, and school supplies.
The schedule of the caravan as released by the DTI Central Office, are as follows: Bukidnon – April 27-28; Antique May 4-5; Abra – May 10-11, Oriental Mindoro – May 18-19, Pangasinan – May 24-25, Surigao del Norte –May 30-31, Zambales – June 2-3, Zamboanga del Norte – June 7-8, Cagayan – June 14-15, Northern Samar – June 17-18, Sorsogon – June 22-23, Davao Oriental – June 28-29, Negros Oriental July 5-6, Quezon – July 14-15, and Saranggani – July 26-27.”
Recently, President Benigno Aquino III ordered DTI to hold as much as 100 “Diskwento Caravans” nationwide to give more Filipinos the chance of buying basic commodities at much lesser prices. (PIA 8

pthfndr19 May 15th, 2011, 05:59 PM Repost from April 2011 article (http://leytesamardaily.net/2011/04/guiuan-lgu-to-seek-help-from-local-investors-to-finance-guiuan-manila-flights/)
Guiuan LGU to seek help from local investors to finance Guiuan-Manila flights
GUIUAN, Eastern Samar- The local government unit here will seek the help of investors in their town to shoulder losses that might be incurred by airline companies in launching the proposed Manila-Guiuan direct flights.
But Mayor Analiza Kwan was quick to say that contributions from the private sector is just temporary as they expect that the town will soon meet the number of passengers required by airlines companies to continue serving a new route.
The public-private sector partnership came out after the local government unit failed to convince the Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Cebu Pacific to serve the route despite growing number of tourists going to the town and completion of its new airport.
“According to Cebu Pacific, it’s not yet feasible to fly to Guiuan. However, I was asked to submit more data to support my request for a commercial flight,” Kwan told Leyte Samar Daily Express.
“PAL advised me to start with a chartered flight but 75% of seats for incoming flights should be filled and 50% for returning flights. If we fell short of that, we have to pay the amount,”Kwan added.
“My other option is to talk to all the investors here in Guiuan to form an economic enterprise to put in funds to meet the requirement considering that local government cannot afford it and it is against some auditing policies,” Kwan said.
“If airline companies will operate here, those in the business sector will be the one to benefit,” she added.
The recently completed Guiuan Airport Development Project has a cost of P155 million, which include construction and concreting of apron and taxiway, rehabilitation of the passenger terminal building, construction of the perimeter fence, construction of access road, and asphalt overlay of runway.
“By word of mouth, many tourists have expressed their interest to visit Guiuan but they are discouraged because of bad roads in Eastern Samar. We really need that airport to be operational,” Kwan said.
Guiuan is 109 kilometers south of provincial capital of Borongan City and 154 kilometers from Tacloban City. It is composed of 60 barangays and the only town in the province with biggest number of island barangays.
Calicoan, one of the islands in Guiuan town, has been attracting investments to include resorts, hotel, and high-end housing projects.
The island boasts of miles of white sand beaches. The place has been identified as surfer’s paradise with its powerful swells rolling in from the Pacific over the 10,000 meters Philippine deep.
In the middle of the island are six lagoons ringed by forest, the largest being 30 hectares in size. At the cliffside margin of Calicoan’s forests are dozens of caves. On the northern tip of Calicoan are wetlands like the Everglades, teeming whitefish, shrimp, and crabs.
Guiuan has been declared as a tourist zone in 1978 by former President Ferdinand Marcos and as a protected landscape and seascape by former Pres. Fidel Ramos. Then President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo declared the town as a surfing capital.
The town is widely known for two significant events in history. In 1521, Ferdinand Magellan first set foot on Philippine soil in Homonhon Island on his way to discover the Philippines for the Western World.
In 1944, the American Forces landed on the island of Suluan where they fought their first battle in the Philippine territory three days before Gen. Mac Arthur stormed the beaches of Leyte.
The town’s Tubabao Island has served as temporary camp for over 5,000 Russians during the war 67 years ago. (Sarwell Q. Meniano)

(Sarwell Q. Meniano)

To answer your question sir, Sogod is the commercial center of Southern Leyte because of its strategic location. And perhaps, the Gaisanos saw a potential of Sogod to become a major trading center in Region 8 in the near future. Another reason siguro is competition kasi halos sabay nag apply ang Metro Group to put up a branch in Maasin and the Capital Group to put up a branch in Sogod.

pero yung population ng S.leyte ay more or less 300,000 lang at hindi 100% ng population sa sogod namimili kung dalawang gaisano ang ilalagay sa S. Leyte, that's suicide, one of them would surely be bancrupt

^^ population of So. Leyte (2007 census) was around 390,000. Plus the town in the southern portion of Leyte na mas malapit na sa Sogod or Maasin. I think one of the factors that the Gaisanos consider in putting up a mall is the peace and order situation. I believe So. Leyte is known for its very low crime rate.

This is true. Napaka peaceful po dito. AFAIK, its not the population alone is the reason in putting up a business like the Gaisanos does, but purchasing power of the population is also a factor. In the case of Calbayog, as long as the contract is already sealed matutuloy yan kahit ano pang mangyari. Hopefully mas malaki ang Gaisano dyan considering Calbayog is a city.

Yup. The contractor is the one who is building the terminal and the new market. Once turned over they will proceed with the construction of the hospital. Yung concreting kasi ng vicinity ng terminal will be undertaken by a different contactor kaya anytime ma turn over na yung market.

CALBAYOG CITY, Philippines—The family of the slain mayor of this city, Reynaldo Uy, has offered a cash reward of P800,000, increasing the bounty to P2 million for information that could help solve the mayor’s murder and lead to the arrest of his killer.
Rosa Jessica Uy-Delgado, eldest daughter of Mayor Uy, made the announcement in a press conference on Monday, minutes after the body of her father was transferred to the family residence in Oquendo District here.
Delgado earlier pointed to a "highly corrupt politician" as the mastermind of the murder. She refused to identify who she was referring to.
Prior to his murder, Uy was helping push a recall petition against the children of ex-governor Milagros Tan—Sharee Ann Tan-de los Santos and James Tan—who now sit as governor and vice governor of the province.
The former governor had been suspended for 90 days during her term for the misuse of calamity funds of the impoverished province.
"On behalf of the entire Uy family, I would like to inform everyone that we are raising the bounty to P2 million," said the slain mayor’s daughter.
She said the family would assure the protection of witnesses who could lead to the solution of the murder.
Uy was gunned down by a still unidentified man inside a covered court in Hinabangan, Samar, on April 30.
He died on May 1 at the Divine Word Hospital in Tacloban City.
Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo had said the government was offering a cash reward of P1 million, plus P200,000 from the Liberal Party, for the arrest of the killer and the solution of the murder. Uy was member of the LP.
Delgado expressed frustration at the slow pace of the investigation being conducted by authorities.
“If we are going to back track to what they have accomplished so far, we are so sad to say that there has not been any progress yet," said Delgado.
"Are they really here to help us on the case or maybe they are just here because our President said so,” Delgado said.
President Aquino, in a visit to Uy’s wake on May 5, assured justice for the slain mayor’s family.
Chief Supt. Arnold Revilla, police regional director, had said police have no clear leads on the case yet. Revilla said a board has been created to evaluate pieces of information related to the murder. He said this was one way to avoid the mistake of getting fall guys.
In a statement, Makabayan, a coalition of eight left-wing parties led by ex-party list Rep. Satur Ocampo, said it saw politics and Uy’s involvement in pro-leftist campaigns as possible motives for his murder.
Makabayan noted that Uy had been very active in the recall petition vs the Tan children, which was found sufficient in form and substance by the Commission on Elections. Uy had planned to run for governor if recall elections were held.
Makabayan, however, said the investigation should not spare the police and military since Uy was also active in the campaign against extrajudicial killings.

If, and only if, your last statement is true, then our fellow Nortehanons will have nothing to look forward to. A real public servant won't care about future political plans. What should matter is to be able to serve the public and perform well for the good of the constituents. Kung nagpi-perform ka naman nang tama, wala kang dapat katakutan na masisirang political career because people will judge you based on how you performed. I don't get it. Paano masisira ang political career mo if you adhere to the law?

If, and only if, your last statement is true, then our fellow Nortehanons will have nothing to look forward to. A real public servant won't care about future political plans. What should matter is to be able to serve the public and perform well for the good of the constituents. Kung nagpi-perform ka naman nang tama, wala kang dapat katakutan na masisirang political career because people will judge you based on how you performed. I don't get it. Paano masisira ang political career mo if you adhere to the law?
catar city May 18th, 2011, 04:40 PM about 20 years this place was surrounded with 5 ramifying acacia trees. the trees provide ample protection to spectators even under blistering sun. However when the rain pours down, the trees can no longer provide the same protection. hence, after a long period LGU officials finally decided to cut down the trees and replace with iron and concrete.

Hala sayang. Di naman kasalanan yan ng puno. Kasalanan yan ng maintenance ng LGU, they should trim the trees regularly to avoid unnecessary incidents.
