I passby sa may Gov Camins last night mukhang matagal tagal pa matapos ung GOH maybe 4th quarter pa ng year 2010 heheh....any way napansin ko rin di na tinapos ng mga contratista ung mga projects renovation/rehabilitation along Gov. Camins iniwan lng ng tiwang wang ang area parang ala lng sa knila hope the City Mayor will do an action sa projects na to as well as si Cong Beng....tas mukhang di pa tlga matibay ung pagkagawa ng mga roads sa area even the center island sa may Airport road di parin tapos and no street light pag gabi ay bad work:ohno::ohno::ohno:

and one thing kahit ung ZIA di pa rin matapos tapos ung ginagawa and mukhang delayed nlng ang projects kung tutuusin mas malaki ang kita ng ZIA keysa sa ibang airport pero naunahan pa ang ZIA ng ibang airports sa pag renovate ay left behind na sa big projects ang Zamboanga kelan kaya matauhan ung mga City Officials and tingnan and pansin nila na we Zamboangueno are far far left behind from others cities kung tutuusin we are one of the 10 top gross revenue in the Philippines but sad to say we are still behind

^^ill post pics of the GOH taken just a few days ago when i left for cebu and the interior of ZIA:cheers:

;49238963']I did not say dili possible (malay nato daghan libre nga materyales hehe and libre sad ang labor lols) but like i said, if ingnon nimo 12x12 ang dimensions sa building then 3 storeys murag layo ra jud kaayo (if lets say palitonon tanan materyales and labor) but if you are paying for materials and labor murag next to impossible ang imong gina-ingon

let me give you a clearer idea how much it would cost to build a 12mx12m 3 storey building

building details

columns are placed in a 4mx4m GRID, ceiling height is 3meters and foundation depth is 2meters (footing is 1.2x1.2x.25). meaning there are 16 columns (300mmx300mm) tapos there are 8 (300mmx400mm) beams na 12 meters long each. concrete slab per floor na naka steeldeck

you would need the following

total premix concrete needed = 100 cubic meters x P3500/m3 (P350,000)
20mm rebars = 25 lengths x P275 (P6875)
16mm rebars = 185 lengths x P220 (P40700)
10mm rebars = 238 lengths x P135 (P32130)
steeldeck = 144m2 x P800 (P115200)

total material cost = P544905
w/ labor cost @ 25% = P681131

take note..

di pa na estimate ang formworks ng mge beam and columns, di pa na factor ang labor ng pag hukay ng foundation

take note..

skeleton pa lang ito with floor pero walang walls, ceiling, roofing, stairs, electrical, plumbing :)..skeleton pa lang overbudget na :)

dili kau na sure and premix concrete price ila ge gamit way kay the 2nd and 3floor, flooring lang ila ge gamit class A premix concrete =)

and hardware materials are not the same from cities to cities so d ta maka make exact price=) like ang cebu mas cheaper ila cement kay duna silay cement factory =)

iya labor kay 20% ra and composed of 6-8 worker^^

and to all d kame nag aaway its to imature for us to make away were just talking about the posibilities to build a 3 story worth 600k^^

correct, ambot anang uban haluan man dayon ug malisya nga naga discuss ra man ta..(siguro simple ra jud sila ug utok)

anyway, i still cannot imagine psy..magkano ba ang cost ng bakal and cement sa zamboanga? like i showed you, skeleton pa lang yan and wala pang walls..as in frame lang ng building tapos may floors lang pero P600k na

ambot niya basta ge dali dali ra dyud niya and wala na pay sa mga archi or engener kay friend ra man niya ang archi and engener mura ge consultant ra niya in short cia nag pa engener and archi at the same time^^

my computation was based on materials ra man sab psy then ang usual nga bayad sa labor which is mga 25% sa price if pakyaw

usabon nato ha this time mano-mano mix concrete lang then ordinary slab and dili steeldeck (sorry for the OT pero informative man sab gamay)

total bags of cement needed (class A concrete @ 100 cubic meters)= 900bagsx P220/bag = (P198,000)
gravel needed = 100 cu.m x P300 = P30000
sand needed = 50 cu.m x P220 = P11000
20mm rebars = 25 lengths x P275 (P6875)
16mm rebars = 185 lengths x P220 (P40700)
10mm rebars = 238 lengths x P135 (P32130)
10mm rebars for slab = 1440 lengths x P135 (P194000)

total material cost = P512705
w/ labor cost @ 25% = P640881

take note wala naapil ang :

1. plywood na kinahanglan pag form sa mga concrete (scaffolding)
lets say lumpsum add pa mga P25000 for formworks

2. cement and sand needed sa pag plaster sa concrete slab and columns/beams meaning sobrang rough pa ng floor nyan
lets say for add pa mga P50000 worth of cement and sand for plastering

3. GI sheet needed for roofing
lets say plain roofing lang and you need mga 100pcs GI sheet (P40000)

4. Truss that holds the roofing
lets say lumpsum worth per truss/roof frame is mga P50,000

5. Concrete Hollow blocks for walls (say 1.2 meter wall along perimeter per floor) so mga 192 sqm or 3000pcs of hollow blocks (P36864)

6. lets say spiral staircase na bakal at P30000

so these 6 items to make a functional building shell with roof and stairs (walang kuryente, walang tubig, walang pintura, walang pinto at bintana and walang walls sa loob) would easily cost you an extra P231,864 making the total cost for materials P744,569 (P893,000++ with labor)

sobrang barat na ng pricing nyan and sobrang substandard pero aabot ng almost P900k for a building shell (and this one wala pa diay nang mga fee for permits sa city halls lols)

kaya i dont buy the "kung pano nia nagawa its all in the matter of time and good resource
premise..its really close to impossible

what's good about lantaka is that u can dine while u are inside coffeeshop with orders coming from the paseo de lantaka restaurant. i reccommend food adventurers to try their chicken bbq & pork liempo. must-eat dishes, i must say!

w/ coffee naman, ung choco frappe, only 88 pesos.. and I heard they lowered pa the price, but the serving, mygawd, it's like good for two already... very choco ang taste! a testament from a stiff choco-lover here! ;)

you're already right, the new building of BSP will rise beside plaza del pilar. but before, i thought it'll be between dept. of justice and plaza del pilar. but the address states valderrosa (the street where lantaka is) and veterans avenue ext., therefore, it'll be the one fronting paseo de lantaka restaurant and is sandwiched by Plaza del Pilar & Dept. of Budget & Mngt.

P295,000,000?!? That must be huge.... hmmmmm.... teka, i smell something fishy... oh my?!?

^^ I hope it will be a multi-storey building, 8 and above floors Ok na.. Sa laki ng budget kaya lang yan.

Folks remember late Mayor Lobregat (http://www.sunstar.com.ph/zamboanga/folks-remember-late-mayor-lobregat)
Saturday, January 2, 2010

By Bong Garcia

THE memories of Mayor Maria Clara Lobregat remain fresh in the recollection of Zamboangueños six years after her death on January 2, 2004.

This, as local residents, representing the different sectors participated in the simple program Saturday marking the 6th death anniversary of the late mayor, the city’s only woman mayor for the past years.

Mayor Celso Lobregat, eldest son of the late mayor, headed City Government officials including members of the City Council, representatives from national and local agencies and multi-sectoral groups of the city in the different activities that kicked off with a commemorative mass at the St. Joseph Church, followed by a motorcade, floral offering and a short program at the Jardin Maria Clara in Pasonanca village.

For updates from around the country, follow Sun.Star on Twitter

The program Saturday demonstrated the Zamboangueños’ undying admiration, respect and appreciation to the late mayor touted as the most endearing person to be the mayor of Zamboanga and looked up by most residents as the mother of the city, its protector and benefactor.

Councilor Reynerio Candido and Zamboanga Philippine National Red Cross-Zamboanga City chapter administrator Victor Liozo, Jr. reminisced their old days with the late mayor through the “Recuerdos de Ayer,” as Joel Bustamante gave an interpretation of the song “You raised me Up.”

The Zamboanga Hermosa Choral Group offered the chorale rendition, song tribute and led in the community singing.

Celso, in his response thanked all Zamboangueños for their enduring admiration, respect and gratitude to his late mother, as he vowed to continue with more vigorously his mother’s visions and missions for the city of Zamboanga through the help of other public servants and all the residents.

He expressed gratitude most especially to those who participated in the activities commemorating the 6th death anniversary of the late mayor, who is fondly called as Ma’am Caling.

City Health Officer Rodelin Agbulos, organizing chair of the program welcomed the guests while District I Councilor Rodolfo Lim gave the closing message.

The Air Force Band provided the recessional during the floral offering and the consequent release of the balloons prior to the brief commemorative program.

Jardin Maria Clara is one of the numerous legacies of the late mayor.

It is a butterfly garden and showcases the different variety of gumamela and other exotic flowering plants.

With an attractive landscape, Jardin Maria Clara houses the statue of the late Ma’am Caling uphill, the soon to be inaugurated museum which will house memorabilia of the different mayors of Zamboanga City and a workshop building.

Outside the Jardin gate are public food stalls which were inaugurated last July 17.

The elder Lobregat died at the age of 83 in a hospital in Manila due to cardiac arrest on the night of January 2, 2004.

Infrastructure development defines PGMA's 9-year tenure

As the year drew to a close, the current administration could look back with a sense of great accomplishment.

When she assumed office nine years ago, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo set out to create the physical infrastructure to spur and sustain economic development.

She has kept her eyes on the ball, so to speak. And the country has much to thank for such single-mindedness

Under the 2006-2010 Medium-Term Public Development Program (MTPDP), P94.19 billion has been spent for the construction or rehabilitation and improvement of major road arteries.

SCTEX Tops List

The P32 billion Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), located north of Manila, tops the list of completed new road projects. Now in full operation, the 94-kilometer SCTEX reduces travel time from Manila to Tarlac to one hour and 25 minutes and from Clark to Tarlac to a mere 25 minutes.

And SCTEX, a part of the Luzon Urban Beltway, is just an example of the government's thrust in this direction.

The newly completed Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) Tollway is another. The road cuts travel time from Sto. Tomas, Batangas, to Batangas City by 90 to 120 minutes.

In the Visayas, the P2.2 billion Bohol Circumferential Road does the same for the residents. Completed in 2006, travel time from one end of the island to the other has been reduced by half, from eight to four hours.

Soon, construction of the Halsema highway and Bontok-Tabuk-Tugugarao Road will be completed to make up the North Luzon Agricultural Quadrangle.

Similar other construction activities are being carried out in other parts of Central and Southern Philippines.

Under various stages of rehabilitation and improvement are the Nido-Bataraza-Rio Tuba Road, Panay Island Road Package, Maharlika Highway, Dinagat Island Road Network, Surigao-Davao-coastal Road, Zamboanga Coastal Road, and the Awang-Upi-Lebak Maguindanao Road.

Seaports & Airports

Also in the list of completed projects are 22 roll on-roll off facilities and seaports.

These projects, with an aggregate worth of P5.61 billion, are designed to facilitate the movement of people and goods from Luzon to Mindanao, and vice versa.

In an archipelagic country like the Philippines, seaports are a must.

The government has thus refurbished the Subic Bay Port at a cost of P8.04 billion. Similar other projects and their respective costs are Batangas Port, P6 billion; Jagna Port, Ubay Port, And Tubigon Port, all in Bohol, P128.08 million; and Lucena Port, P32.86 million.

The construction of new airports and improvement of old ones have been undertaken at a cost of P40 billion.

The Diosdado Macapagal International Airport in Pampanga and the Poro Point International Airport in La Union fall under this category. So do the Bacolod-Silay Airport and the Iloilo Airport.

Agricultural Facilities

In agriculture, the administration allocated P171 billion for the construction of various agricultural facilities nationwide. About 17,289 kilometers of farm-to-market roads has been completed at a cost of P32.08 billion.

Likewise, 138,763 hectares of farmland has been brought under irrigation. The productivity of 1,463,461 hectares of farmland has been restored with the repair and rehabilitation of irrigation facilities that serve them.

The construction and rehabilitation projects were undertaken to the tune of P87.59 billion.

Social & Environment Projects

For social and environment projects, the government utilized P91.80 billion for power and energy facilities, P6.46 billion for hospital upgrading, P23.40 billion for relocation and housing, and P1.24 billion for sewerage treatment and sanitary landfill.

Altogether, P860.78 billion has been earmarked for the implementation of 149 priority projects.

A total of P242.53 billion has been utilized so far. The remaining P618.25 billion has been programmed for 71 projects now being implemented and 39 projects still in the pre-construction stage. (PND)

Zamboanga ushered in the New Year with a spectacular 15-minute fireworks show at the scenic Paseo del Mar, the first ever to be initiated by the city government under Mayor Celso Lobregat. -- Joey Bautista

Sunday, January 3. 2010

by Sheila Covarrubias
The city government staged a spectacular fireworks show with huge chrysanthemum starbursts lighting up the most popular Paseo del Mar, Friday, kicking off the New Year celebration in Zamboanga.

The first ever to be held in Asia’s Latin City , the grand fireworks display was preceded by the New Year countdown personally led by Mayor Celso Lobregat. Thousands of Zamboangueño revellers jammed the park as early as 5 p.m. to secure prime positions, and witness the majestic fireworks show.

Mayor Lobregat initiated the holding of the New Year countdown to showcase Paseo del Mar, the newest and most popular park in the city today.

A crowd drawer since the first day of its operation last July 10, the Paseo del Mar has been teeming with people of all ages, creed and race and social standing. Most of them come in groups—either a family, a group of friends, couples or officemates—to taste the food, enjoy the ambience or to enjoy each other’s company.

The same event gave Zamboangueños the opportunity to enjoy and marvel at the pyrotechnic extravaganza without the risk of being injured or getting hurt, as all they had to do was witness the show and not personally exploding their own firecrackers to usher in the New Year.

The extravaganza with live band show started 8 p.m. with an hourly mini fireworks display, staged as an early taster before the main event at midnight. All business stalls at the Paseo were opened to serve the revellers. A collective cheer reverberated the Paseo as spectators applauded the fireworks spectacle.

No less than Zamboanga Archbishop Romulo Valles and some members of the City Council including council aspirants belonging to the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino and other city officials and the business groups joined in the revelry.

Mayor Lobregat thanked the different sectors that supported and contributed in the success of the grand fireworks display. These included the Los Contratistas, the Zamboanga Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, the Southern Philippines Deep Sea Fishing company (SOPHIL) and other business groups.

Meanwhile, the Paseo del Mar is a former squatters’ area and a known lair of criminal elements. It was acquired from the CDCP (Construction Development Corporation of the Philippines) during the time of Mayor Maria Clara Lobregat, the late mother of Mayor Celso Lobregat. The area was cleared of squatters also during Mrs. Lobregat’s time, but its development was realized when her son, Celso took over the helm as chief executive.

The park is a product of the creativity and ingenuity of a group of architects from the Western Mindanao State University, which was tapped by the city government to prepare the design during the project’s planning stage. It is one structure that has a dialectical relationship with the residents of the city—built in style that reflects the culture and history of Zamboanga. It has become one of the city’s main attractions that constructs identity and consciousness; that fosters unity and attachment among the city’s diverse people and creates a sense of belongingness.

The architecture combined with the location near the Fort Pilar and with a fabulous seafront view, makes the Paseo del Mar only one of its kind.

People who visit the Paseo del Mar have only praises for the park and the city government. While Manila has its Baywalk, Zamboanga can also be very proud of Paseo del Mar, they exclaimed.

The next phases of development for the Paseo del Mar are forthcoming which will mean more facilities for the enjoyment and comfort of the residents. All these are being done to improve Zamboanga City and to make it more attractive to the locals and the tourists as well.

Zamboanga ushered in the New Year with a spectacular 15-minute fireworks show at the scenic Paseo del Mar, the first ever to be initiated by the city government under Mayor Celso Lobregat. -- Joey Bautista

Valesco bares movie project in Zamboanga (http://www.zambotoday.com/index.php?/archives/12218-Valesco-bares-movie-project-in-Zamboanga.html)

Councilor Gerky Valesco Jr. discusses the need to have a local film crew in preparation for a film project in Zamboanga City this March.

Councilor Rogelio Gerky Valesco, Jr. has organized a local film crew to work in a movie project slated for shooting in Zamboanga City this March.

Valesco met with some local film enthusiasts last week after meeting with Zamboangueno short film director Sheron Dayoc in mid December.

Valesco who used to be a broadcast-journalist and television director commended Dayoc for taking a bold step in the film industry. Sheron's presence in the indie film circle will surely inspire young Zamboanguenos to consider honing their artistic craft in film making. Zamboanga should be proud of Sheron. Valesco said.

Last April, Valesco organized a Basic Film Making Seminar with veteran movie director William Mayo as resource person. During the last quarter of 2009, Valesco has worked closely with the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA) regarding a follow-up training in film production.

We are making a significant move in as far as braving the world of indie and short films because there are young Zamboanguenos whose talents are just as amazing as one would expect. Valesco said.

Valesco said, the group has acceded to his suggestion to tap local talents and crews during the filming somewhere in March. Zamboanga City will be the subject location.

In the past, Valesco has also directed and organized many concerts. He was one among those responsible in bringing to Zamboanga City international performers like David Pomeranz, The Lettermen, and the world's renowned folk-rock group America to the city.

Forming part of the local production crew are some local media practioners as well as visual artists it was learned.

Beng unveils rehabilitated ZCMC emergency ward (http://www.zambotimes.com/index.php?/archives/17191-Beng-unveils-rehabilitated-ZCMC-emergency-ward.html)

by Ryan Sta. Teresa

As a New Year’s gift to her constituents, Cong. Beng Climaco of District I will inaugurate and turn over today, January 4, the newly rehabilitated and renovated emergency ward of the Zamboanga City Medical Center.

Forming part of her advocacy on health, the emergency ward renovation and rehabilitation is one of the most important infrastructure projects undertaken by Climaco’s congressional office in 2009.

Costing P4 million the project was implemented through the Department of Public Works and Highways through the efforts of Dr. Romeo Ong, ZCMC, chief of Hospitals.

The funding was taken from Climaco’s priority development assistance fund (PDAF) of 2007.

Expected to attend the turn over ceremonies today ZCMC officials led by Dr. Ong; Department of Health officials, city government officials and representatives from the health sector and private health agencies.

Cong. Climaco hopes to undertake more projects for public health in 2010 stressing that health is one of her major priorities in her legislative agenda.

Aside from the emergency ward rehabilitation and renovation, the congresswoman from District I has also constructed modern health centers in numerous barangays in the west coast and other health facilities complementing the city government’s and the Department of Health’s efforts.

Climaco has been able to implemented numerous projects for the benefit of the District I constituents covering the various sectors: health, education, public safety, employment, livelihood opportunities and many others.

In terms of infrastructure projects, the congresswoman, during her first three years in office, has implemented over a hundred million pesos that included health centers, emergency ward repair, covered courts, upgrading of the Labuan Hospital laboratory and numerous others.

Bizmen start business permit processing (http://www.sunstar.com.ph/zamboanga/bizmen-start-business-permit-processing)

Monday, January 4, 2010

BUSINESSMEN started flocking to City Hall Monday either to secure or renew business license permits, as the processing will end on January 20.

This prompted Mayor Celso Lobregat to set up more facilities, such as additional assessment tables and chairs, at the ground floor and second floor of the City Hall building to accommodate more clients and to ensure comfort and convenience.

The City Government has started accepting applications for renewal of business permits for the year 2010 last October 1, 2009.

Lobregat also initiated the early inspection of establishments based on the Business Processing and Licensing System (BPLS), a program undertaken through the Transparent and Accountable Governance (TAG) project, which was funded by the United States Assistance for International Development (USAid) through the Asia Foundation.

The TAG has caused the City Government to undertake new innovations to improve law enforcement and revenue generation activities.

Lobregat has appealed to all businessmen operating in Zamboanga City to process applications for renewal the earliest possible time to avoid the rush and the payment of penalties based on existing laws.

Late filing would mean a 25 percent surcharge plus additional two percent for every month of delay, Lobregat said.

The offices involved in the renewal process are the City Treasurer's Office, City Licensing Division, Tricycle Adjudication Board, Computer Services Division, City Health Office, and City Planning and Development Office, among others.

License renewal applicants are advised to bring the original business permit of 2009 as basis for the renewal.

Lobregat, meanwhile, is set to meet with City Treasurer Soledad Li and other officials concerned to look into the possibility of extending work hours during weekdays and in the coming weekends to accommodate more permit applicants. (Bong Garcia)

Isn't it a presence of Casino is a sign of a positive outlook of the economy?

sa case ng zamboanga na afected ang mga local chinese businesman thats why they force to closed the casino than to affect the local businesman =)

I never heard a public hospital capable of medical tourism, unless the government will be very serious about it. Even ZCMC has no nursing school, they are still considered as a training hospital.

No proper planning. Notice almost 80% of the establishments don’t even enough space for pedestrians. Everything’s “Sagad”. Look what happened during the road widening a few years back. The city kinda reminds me of binondo.

I love Zamboanga but I just don’t get why most of the establishments (new and old) have been repainted in very bad taste like Mendoza building / sultana in mint green, some building in baby pink and bright orange…why cant they just go with white, cream like southway, mindpro, etc.

^^ur correct almost establishment here get the area for pedestrian I think nsa batas namn ata ng City na it should have 5 meters away from the Highway but still di nasusunod......sa downtown im sure ganyan na yan pero in some part of the City ung building nsa gilid na ng daanan take a look sa may Gov. Camins almost ala na pedestrian...Guiwan-Putik....Baliwasan San Jose Road and Baliwasan Chico and even san Jose and Canelar alang space for Parking and pedestrian....

I think sa mata ng owner ng Building maganda syang tingnan hahahah.....and but i like the Color of Jasmine Tower ...the GKT tower and the BGIC

Proves that leaders her lack foresight. I remeber a city ordinance before that , a building must be 5 meters away from the road. But still, 5 meters is still small for a future road expansion.

Guam troops to join US, RP forces in Mindanao

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – More than two dozen members of the Guam National Guard are heading to southern Philippines where US troops are training Filipino soldiers to combat terrorism.

The soldiers are part of the Matua Platoon and would be deployed for at least six months in the restive region of the southern Philippines, according to an article on Kuam News.

“By next week 31 members of the Guam National Guard's Matua Platoon will head to the Southern Philippines. These men will be gone for six months and they are the only Guam representatives that will be deployed in the Southern Philippines at this time," the article read.

Kuam News said the Guam National Guards underwent various types of training scenarios that would assist them on the field while on deployment.

It was unknown whether the Guam troops will be deployed to Sulu province where American forces are assisting Filipino soldiers in fighting the al-Qaeda-linked Abu Sayyaf group. Some 600 US troops are deployed in the southern region since 2001, most of them in Zamboanga City and Sulu, where they maintain a forward operating base.

The training of Filipino soldiers by their American counterpart are allowed under the RP-US Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA). The Philippine Constitution, however, prohibits foreign troops from joining in actual combat operations while in the country. - Al Jacinto/KBK, GMANews.TV
