grabe naman u kuya buen na niwala ka talaga dun^^

for me lang hap i dont think its mandatory for a HUC to have this national malls but for a foreign mall ok lang^^ not because they are foreign syempre it is quite different from others =) obyosly tourist will come in^^

1. first is the local businesses will be affected
2. this will create capitalist instead people can buy thier own house, cars, etc etc. all will be pour into this national malls kasi after sweldo ayun nasa malls na ^^( hindi naman lahat)^ dun sa mga nag sawa na^^
3. posible that the rate of local investment will drop to 50%
4. if ever those stall and cart owners want to established thier busineses here in zamboanga its either they will buy lands or they will rent with our local busines spaces which will benefit the locals parin =)

^^di nman ako naniwala kaya nga natawa me sa pinost false kung baga hahahah:lol::lol::lol:.............im sure dami rin naniwala sa pinost na un heheheh........

But Zamboanga also needs foreign and lokal alike investors para makayanin pa and mas dumami pa ung jobs maiiofer sa Zamboangueno kc if ung mga Lokal Malls lng di sapat ung sinasahod nila and di pa minimum rate ung sahod ng kanilang workers......pero nice kung may healthy compettiton between our Lokal and national investors kung baga machachallenge ung mga Lokal natin....

Celso welcomes PBA ballplayers in City Hall (http://www.zambotimes.com/index.php?/archives/17709-Celso-welcomes-PBA-ballplayers-in-City-Hall.html)
Sunday, January 17. 2010

Mayor Celso Lobregat Friday warmly welcomed Philippine Basketball Association cagers who are in the city for a two-day playoff, a project initiated by sports buffs led by Pedro Alfaro.

Members of PBA’s San Miguel and Talk and Text teams barnstormed City Hall separately at 1p.m. and 3 p.m. respectively amid a crowd of excited and thrilled fans.

PBA fans swarmed the City Hall conference room to have a full view of their favourite cagers as Mayor Lobregat asked the players to say a few words.

Mayor Lobregat said he is pleased that Zamboanga City is once again made a venue for the PBA provincial playoffs as he thanked the organizers, spearheaded by Alfaro for the initiative.

Lobregat, one of the sponsors of the two-day playoff, said the event will bring many benefits to the city of Zamboanga not only in terms of sports but also in terms of tourism.

During the courtesy call at City Hall, the PBA players were gifted with the English-Chabacano dictionary, one of the tokens given to visitors aimed to help promote the chabacano language.

Mayor Lobregat said the PBA cagers can help promote Zamboanga, Asia’s Latin City, when they return to Manila and their respective hometowns.

Meanwhile, the playoffs were held at the City Coliseum, January 15 and 16. It was an initiative of the Federacion Basketbolista de Zamboanga, an affiliate of the national Samahang Basketbolista ng Pilipinas.

Zamboanga City has hosted PBA provincial games in the past, activities that the city government fully supports, in line with its thrust on sports and youth development. The same activities are in line with the city’s tourism promotion effort.

Villa Teresa is really up and workin'. Dami ng houses sa loob. And accordingly, the houses are already 85% sold-out.. So to all those who are interested to settle, migrate and experience living in an Asia's Latin City Way, it's a MUST, that you INVEST! The time is---NOW!!!

Zamboanga food in Philippine Daily Inquirer

Source: Zamboangagirl.blogspot.com (http://www.zamboangagirl.blogspot.com/)

my friend marsha and i were on the phone about 30 minutes ago when she gave a sudden shriek and babbled that someone just told her her mom's diner was featured in today's philippine daily inquirer. we bade each other a hasty goodbye and ran to get a copy: me to the library downstairs and she to......... whererever she normally gets her paper.

nikko ballovar at the periodical section gamely allowed me to take the paper out of the library for 15 minutes (the library staff here are used to my weird requests) so i could scan it. and here it is:

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_LNIuMFSkLuw/SwStB8TqlEI/AAAAAAAAAUY/1rWcEakwNDE/s1600/busy+bee+article.JPG

it's all askew, sorry. it was hastily done. i can only do so much in 15 minutes, no?

It's an article by food columnist mickey fenix. it's about the food she ate and the recipes she gathered while visiting zamboanga.

I am so proud of my friend marsha and her mom because their restaurant, busy bee, is the first paragraph feature! i already talked about how i love eating there and having the hole in the wall featured in a national broadsheet makes me feel so good for the montano family, mamu edna especially.

Fenix also mentioned country chicken restaurant where we took the kids to dinner last night in celebration of a successful family effort. she made special mention of exactly what we had last night: the mano-mano bilao. we had the giant platter which for Php 520 was very value for money. it fed three hungry kids and two hungry adults and two hungry teenagers. the only thing we had other than that platter was an order of lechon kawali. and the great thing was that they serve 1.5 liter softdrinks instead of just the small 8 oz or 12 oz bottles. a great, great treat for parents of little kids addicted to the drink because it was "just" Php 85, instead of the Php 25 x 7 we would have needed to get.

the kids loved their playground. i loved their garden. it's simplicity and unpretentious-ness makes it great, i think. you almost feel like you were dining in your own backyard. IF you had a spacious and pretty backyard.

do find time to read the article. it's great. if you're not here, it will help you remember. if you are here, it will help to remind you of places you can go to and things you can try out -- again or for the first time.

the article also mentions other iconic zamboanga food places: myrna's, jimmy's satti. and iconic food as well. fenix likes something i've always found weird: our noodle filled tamal. why fill a carbo casing with carbo filling? i actually love eating tamal. i just find the concept weird. just like juani in coconut milk and sugar. and the crab named after cockroaches. i guess that would describe a lot of zamboanga food: weird but very, very, very good.

DOT reports P36B tourism investments in 09' (http://www.zambotoday.com/index.php?/archives/12424-DOT-reports-P36B-tourism-investments-in-09.html)
Monday, January 18. 2010

The Department of Tourism (DOT) has listed P36 billion worth of endorsed investments composed of tourism-related facilities and establishments between January and November 2009, generating at least 15,000 jobs and 4,000 additional rooms.

These projects mean strong investor confidence, more jobs and a gainful economy," Tourism Secretary Joseph 'Ace' Durano said, adding that tourism is bound to have a banner performance in the coming years.

Endorsed to the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and the Board of Investments (BOI), the list is composed of projects which include the Eagle Entertainment City and Bagong Nayong Pilipino Entertainment City in Paranaque City; M Hotel in Binondo; Remington Hotel in Pasay City; Big Cedar Hotel in Malate, Manila; Microtel Inns and Suites in Pasig City; The Bayleaf Hotel Manila in Intramuros; Go Hotels-Cybergate in Mandaluyong City; Newport Entertainment and Commercial Center in Makati City; Highlander Hotel and Resort in Nueva Vizcaya; Dagupan Doctors Villaflor Memorial Hospital and Dasoland: A Family Adventure Park in Pangasinan; Green Canyon Eco-tourism Park in Tarlac, Clark Wakeboard Camp in Angeles; Sheridan Beach Resort and Convention Center, A & A Hotel Special Tourism Zone, Cagdanao Resort, West Villa Resort, Cuyo Land Villa and El Nido Adventure Sports in Palawan; Embarcadero de Legazpi Special Tourism Zone in Legazpi City; Akean Resorts in Aklan; Ilawod Estate Tourism Zone in Iloilo; Costa de Leticia Resort and Spa, Museum and Art Gallery, Marine Sports and Leisure Center, and Caracalla Spa in Cebu; and expansion of Garden Orchid Hotel Annex in Zamboanga.

A few of the listed facilities had their groundbreaking in mid-2009, while others are set to open between 2010 and 2014.

Durano likewise noted the strong diversity of these investments, which have been classified into Accommodations, Resorts, Medical Tourism facilities, Sports and Recreational facilities and Agri-Tourism facilities.

Upon registration with the BOI, these tourism endorsed projects are eligible to avail of an income tax holiday for four to six years, and duty-free importation of selected capital equipment for operation of accommodations and facilities, said Atty. Victoria Jasmin, director of the DOT Office of Tourism Standards.

The DOT urges the business community to invest in tourism estates, accommodation facilities, retirement villages, healthcare and wellness products and services, ecotourism and agri-tourism projects as a response to the global demand for an integrated development in the industry.-PNA Lynda B. going west

anyways for president election nag dududa talaga ako kina Villar, Gordon, and Gibo^^

Gibo know na he wont win, with his side by side with the bad image of the gloria adminitration but you see him very calm. even gloria didnt rise his hand.

(Pupet lang kaya ng administration si Gibo?)

Villar push the Impeachment complaint of erap dont you think its his time to be the president after gloria? and obyosly he has a strong tie with the president by not even making an issue of the C5 insertion. si lacson nga tinituge na ng gobyerno and erap tapo kay villar ghost person as if they dont know him hahaha funny man.

Gordon an ally of the president and bigla lang tumiwalag and join forces with BF? ( another pupet?)

dont you think another manipulation with three candidates she has a 50% chance to get her prime minister seats? kaya relax na relax si madam sa palasyo^^

CONSPIRACY? you judge:lol:

my friend marsha and i were on the phone about 30 minutes ago when she gave a sudden shriek and babbled that someone just told her her mom's diner was featured in today's philippine daily inquirer. we bade each other a hasty goodbye and ran to get a copy: me to the library downstairs and she to......... whererever she normally gets her paper.

nikko ballovar at the periodical section gamely allowed me to take the paper out of the library for 15 minutes (the library staff here are used to my weird requests) so i could scan it. and here it is:

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_LNIuMFSkLuw/SwStB8TqlEI/AAAAAAAAAUY/1rWcEakwNDE/s1600/busy+bee+article.JPG

it's all askew, sorry. it was hastily done. i can only do so much in 15 minutes, no?

Zamboanga is one of the places in the country which already acquired badge of identity in gastronomical aspects.

No just Ateneans. even us in WMSU choose to have McDo as our rendezvous.

^^did you know that some student of WMSU are shy to get inside of MCDO when it was first open last 2005 they always say nakakhiya kc madaming Ateneans na mayayaman.......I prefer MCDO than Jollibee and i dont wish to eat the Burgers of Jollibee anymore and even their Jolly Spag....:lol::lol:
I hate the crew and managers of MCDO Shoppers Center not good in service as well as not good in customers may pagka maldita ng mga crew and some crew not following the standard procedures...kung baga sa substandard...same with some Jollibee store in Zambboanga

OF course, without the expense of the veggie owners. Just another livelihood for them. They will still sell their veggie products.

There should be a committee that would train these operators to cook dishes (esp. veggie & fruits) out of their veggies being sold. Culinary-style.

The Bagsakan complex should be renovated, that it would be smell-free & in a foodcourt way or style for food enthusiasts. So these vendors would not only be as veggie operators, but culinary experts as well. This will develop their skills and boost their morale as well! ;)

Elago is in a dilemma... The Fabian Family is huge. They are overshadowing the Elagos in the city. :|

If Elago loses, and Mannix sits as the new hope of the city, I hope Mannix would choose Elago as the City's Administrator.

All I hope that the next congress' agenda would stress on Infrastructure, Economic upliftment of the West & East, and the one would create another district for the city, that is...

The c-man in District One -- stress more on Economic Zone's dev't, Int'l Seaport inauguration, Coastal Road facelift, IT/BPO's.

The c-man in District 2 -- airport @Sacol, Bridge interconnected, Open more HUGE roads that would connect to the West, open Business District Centers, IT/BPO's.

Wishful thinking. However, let us also take several considerations.
Sacol Island would be an unstrategic place for a Military installation like WESTMINCOM. I will still prefer Calarian because it is in the geographic center of the city. That in the event, that attacks are coming in the WestCoast, a reinforce can automatically respond. If its in Sacol, it will have hard time responding to emergency situations in other parts of the city. The Sacol proposal will left the city center unprotected.

I hate the crew and managers of MCDO Shoppers Center not good in service as well as not good in customers may pagka maldita ng mga crew and some crew not following the standard procedures...kung baga sa substandard...same with some Jollibee store in Zambboanga

i like the ambiance in McDo-Gateway..

FYI: the one in Gateway is the one owned by McDo Philippines, while that in La Purisima is franchised by a local company - Zamburger.

The current status of Chabacano in the Philippines

http://www.zamboanga.com/images/penn_state.gif

Zamboanga City and its environs that the Zamboangueño variety of Chabacano makes this the largest Spanish-derived creole speaking community in the world.

The mistaken notion among creolists (beginning with Whinnom 1956) that the largest Chabacano-speaking population, that of Zamboanga City, is small and moribund, when in fact it is a thriving first- and second-language speech community of perhaps half a million speakers. Frake (1971) was the first to provide more accurate information on Zamboangueño, but to this day many scholars in the Philippines and abroad are unaware of the true strength of the Zamboanga Chabacano community

This will develop their skills and boost their morale as well! ;)

agree din ako dito the road was renovated with Bricks and palm trees tapos sa left and ryt are all public market^^

COA usually takes a couple of months to audit and gather the financial reports of all government agencies and another couple months before it is released online for public viewing, which explains the delay.

The Sacol proposal will left the city center unprotected.

i dont think so the first who will respon if ever there will be attacks by rebels is the station police located at the west coast not unles if some countries will attack in the west na dapat army or marines agad mag responde^^

so when reinforcement of TFZ atleast the police already hold the rebels for few minutes =)

if im not mistaken there is 2/3 station police in the west coast and Navy Comand is also located in the west.

Whoah! Zamboanga City is rich! Konti lang ang difference ng income ng Taguig and Zamboanga. Zamboanga is really performing well even though we don't have those BIG investments to further boost our economy that other major cities have. What more if andito na sila? . . .

^^

This makes Zamboanga the most unique city in the Philippines..

COA usually takes a couple of months to audit and gather the financial reports of all government agencies and another couple months before it is released online for public viewing, which explains the delay.

Pwede xa Zor. Westmincom is not soley for Zamboanga City. The whole peninsula needs it, thus, Western Mindanao Command.. Even Maguindanao, troops from this military command are being sent to Central Mindanao. And it's not that far from city's center. A military plane roving above would take 5-10 minutes from the city's center to this new site. ;)

i dont think so the first who will respon if ever there will be attacks by rebels is the station police located at the west coast not unles if some countries will attack in the west na dapat army or marines agad mag responde^^

so when reinforcement of TFZ atleast the police already hold the rebels for few minutes =)

if im not mistaken there is 2/3 station police in the west coast and Navy Comand is also located in the west.

and I believe the transfer woun't be a threat. Let us not forget that there are other security agencies who are after with the city's peace & order situation. We have the Police. The S.W.A.T., NBI and so forth. And oh, there are alot of detachments in and around the city. Even Sta. Cruz Island has one. Navy are on-guards, sailing in the city's territorial waters.. So, it's not a threat at all. Believe, we can! ;)
