DEFINITELY! But for the details, i won't divulge the information yet this time. But why???:) Remember, the trolls?

Ok lang yan, Marl. Till when are we going to keep to ourselves the various information about the different projects? We must have something to discuss in this thread, something BIG. Let's not be affected. Please. Post it na. :colgate: It's either you post everything you know or not say anything about them at all. You shouldn't have posted anything about it in the first place if you didn't wanna share it anyway. :ohno:

Ito yung first Jollibee sa Pagadian.
Pero hindi yun ang gusto kong pag-usapan, yung United Pharmacy sa tabi niya. Haha.
Yung United Pharmacy ba eh Zamboanga City-based? Kung oo, ngayon ko lang nalaman sa nag-expand na pala sila sa ibang cities. Nice

Yeap! matagal na silang may branch sa Manila malapit sa St. Benilde. :)

Thanks! A free swimming area/beach right in the heart of a bustling city is rare!!! And #4 can be worked out....

^^nakaktuwa kasi pag masdan ung mga ganito pag malapit na ung opening nila..just like wat u said ung 1st Mcdo dito ang daming na excite na magbubukas na ung mCDO dito just like this one Max's...ung mcdo I like the design which the owner really wanted big and can accomodate more people

The good thing with this is stand alone sya at sariling building and di hamak mas malaki yata unlike the one in CDO na occupied nila ang inuupahang ground floor ng isang building.

By the way guys ang Purisima is the main avenue ba ng City? Kasi lagi ko kayang naririnig itong street na'to.

Proposed Robinsons' Mall Zamboanga Update lang poh!

Lately:
nagkaroon ng meeting between RLC and the land owner's to finalize the contract signing sa isang Hotel d2 sa Zambo.

2010-2011:
demolition is on going...

Negotiation with the land owner of the Hexagon Bar (side ng Waltac) is under going!...:)

tuloy na tuloy na ang Robinsons but walang final sched kung kailan mag start ang construction~...since they're still negotiating with other land owners..:)

I remembered way back in 1996 when we had our group from Bukidnon assigned in ZC. As usual as it is today, we took the bus from valencia to cdo and a cutting trip from cdo to zc via pag (where we spent the night) we took the 2nd trip the next morning because the first was "too early" as others complained. I just kept silent and intended to surprise them with their option. We reached Mialim at 7:30 am and of course the conductor announced that we take our breakfast. Many have noticed the signboards around (e.g. Vitali Bus Terminal - Mialim Vitali Zamboanga City) and so suggest that we have our breakfast when we reach our quarters. It was good enough our team leader asked for my opinion and this time I said, I can't afford another "hurting surprise". I suggested to have our breakfast as all others did. Some were anxious why it took so long a stop when we were already in the city - they never realized that bus drivers take enough rest before finally traversing ZC's extra long portion of the National highway. We finally reached our quarters (in Cawa-cawa) in time to prepare for lunch. That was a sweeter surprise then.

yes I like sa Sacol but as of now mas okie pa ung Mercedes area muna

I dunno, but I think Sacol Island would be a better location for ZIA than Mercedes district. You see, when the government builds a bridge connecting mainland ZC to Sacol, the road that would most likely lead to the mainland side of the Bienvenidos Bridge () would be passing through Mercedes, that would make Mercedes a good place for business (esp for the hospitality industry) since people would be traversing this district frequently to get to one of the city's most important venues, ZIA. The needs its scarce flatlands for developments other than an airport. Putting ZIA in Sacol would mean saving these flatlands in mainland ZC for other developments. Naisip ko rin ang Manicahan. It has vast flatlands din na very fitting for an airport and it's just less than an hour from the current location of ZIA. Yes, it's also in the mainland but mas malayo ito sa Mercedes so there's still plenty of space for the city to expand between it and the current CBD. :)

Gagastos lang yan sila. :) It's PNoy now. Plus there's the big possibility that a very close and very loyal ally (Beng Climaco) would take over the highest position in the city hall in 2013 so mas mabilis na siguro yung pag-approve nito. :colgate: Btw, kung sa Vitali man, siguro gusto nilang gawin yung parang sa CDO-Iligan. Ishe-share siguro natin ang airport with other places in the peninsula.

There'd be no room for high rises. :ohno:

yes I like sa Sacol but as of now mas okie pa ung Mercedes area muna

^^
mas maganda if sa sakol na lng tlg...:):):)

okie man parang sa Cebu ang dating niyan..kaso gagastos ba ung National government ng Phils para jan?panahon nga ni PGMA halos ayaw i approve kahit ung sa Mercedes lng....but maganda rin jan kaso mas malau na

Talagang dapat gastosan ng natoinal gov't ang development ng ZC esp the ZIA. After all, ZC is not "just another urban area" it is the Phils' gateway to BIMP-EAGA being the natural hub. Now if the Philippines would like to get it's fair share with EAGA, better invest in ZC with multi-billion national infrastructure projects like ZIA, ZISP, more wide roads, etc. If the national gov't will fail to do this in five years, kulelat na naman tayo sa BIMP and SEA...:bash::ohno: @ Stern: Just like in my older posts, ZIA in Sacol is like hitting 3 birds with one stone without any damage. While ZIA elsewhere is hitting a bird with one stone plus a damage (reduction of scarce flat lands).

I just remember kasi the time Ive had a long chat @FB with our good councilor Gerky (time when he claimed that a big investor MIGHT develop a part of Sta.Cruz).

When I brought up to him that the New ZIA should be relocated at Sacol, and not Mercedes, he replied with statements saying that it might already be impossible, due to many factors that it has to consider (like flight path.). But I countered 'em with more advantages than those disadvantages that seemed to be the recessive than the former.

Cavite set to revive Chabacano
November 24, 2010, 9:09pm

CAVITE, Philippines – The Cavite City Council is set to pass an ordinance that will preserve and revive the Chavacano language in the area.

Cavite City, the former capital of Cavite province, is noted as one of the few areas in the Philippines where the Chavacano language is spoken.

Two others noted for the Spanish-like dialect are Ternate, also in Cavite, and Zamboanga City.

The proposed ordinance on the preservation of the language is now on its third reading at the Sangguniang Panglungsod (SP).

Majority of the councilors wanted the ordinance passed as soon as possible so that moves for the language can be implemented by January 2011.

Modernization or the changing times have made Chavacano an endangered language in Cavite City.

Only seven percent of the city population can speak the language these days, based on a local survey.

City officials and residents, mostly elderly, have moved to prevent the language from extinction.

Councilor Eduardo Novero has filed the proposed ordinance preserving and reviving the language City Tourism Officer Remedios Sto. Domingo-Ordoñez welcomed the ordinance’s approval as “it would boost tourism further in the area.”

Once the ordinance is passed, the Chavacano language, among others, will be taught in public schools and that the city or public signage will be in Chavacano.

“Habla Chavacano? The move is to turn things to Chavacano. The welcome sign will be made ‘Bienvenida,’ saying thank you will be said ‘muchos gracias,’ love ‘amor,’ among others,” said Ordoñez.

Chabacano or Chavacano is listed as one of the Creole languages in the world that is based on Spanish.

The language was virtually brought by the early Spanish settlers in Cavite City in the late 16th century.

The city is considered the second oldest area in the country after Mactan, Cebu, reportedly the first place that was discovered by Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan in 1521.

Ordoñez said these days, 88 percent of the population no longer speak Chavacano. (Anthony Giron)

I just heard an amazing 2-in-1 news today! NEDA suggested that the Zamboanga International Airport be transferred to, wait for this, VITALI DISTRICT. YES, you've heard it right. V-I-T-A-L-I. BUT, luckily, Councilor Jerky Valesco said that it was ridiculous and suggested instead that the airport be transferred to the location that many of us have been suggesting: SACOL ISLAND. :colgate:

I guess the terrain in Vitali won't permit that an airport will be built in that place. Its mountainous and rare that we can find plains in that area.

Friday, 26 November 2010 11:48

The final feasibility study of the transfer of the Zamboanga City airport to Barangay Talabaan has been received by local Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), formerly Air Transportation Office (ATO), and will soon be for implementation.

In the final feasibility study, CAAP Manager Celso Bayabos said that the airport transfer project will cost the government P9 Billion.

Bayabos explained that the site in barangay Talabaan was chosen because it is already plain, and it has a few residents.

The feasibility study for the transfer of the airport according to Bayabos was done by personnel from the Department of Transportation and Communication in Manila.

According to Bayabos, the old airport in Governor Camins will be sold at the amount of P8 Billion to facilitate the transfer.

The upcoming brand new airport in Talabaan covers 170 hectares and 2,500 meter runway, the aviation official said.

By the year 2016 the new airport will be fully operational, according to the feasibility study as revealed by Bayabos.

In the process of this airport transfer 174 lots located in the area of Talabaan, Taluksangay, Mercedes and Mulu Muluan will be affected.

But Bayabos said DOTC is preparing the money to pay these lot owners.

The present Zamboanga International Airport is located in the heart of the city, stressing most of the airports in the country are not located near the center of the city proper.

Zamboanga City bags top nutrition award
by PNA/PIA9-BST

The City of Zamboanga has been adjudged as the outstanding city in the 2009 implementation of the local level plan of action for nutrition, a feat which entitles this southern port city to be an entry in the National Nutrition Council's "Green Banner Award."

City Health Officer Dr. Rodel Agbulos said Thursday the recognition was in line with the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Plan Implementation (MELPI) for nutrition initiated by the Regional Nutrition Council and presented during the committee's third quarter meeting last Nov. 15.

The MELPI is a management tool used in assessing efficiency and effectiveness of program for nutrition improvement, Agbulos said.

Based on the evaluation, Agbulos said Zamboanga City got a final score of 91.87 percent, followed by Dipolog City with a score of 88.20 percent, and Dapitan City with 84.92 percent.

The province of Zamboanga Sibugay topped the evaluation in the provincial level while Polanco, Zamboanga del Norte, obtained the highest score among the municipalities in the region.

The Regional Nutrition Committee had deputized the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team compose of interagency members to evaluate the 2009 nutrition plan implementation of the three provinces and five cities in the region using the standard tool provided by the National Nutrition Council.

The evaluation results had been reviewed and found to have strictly abided by the guidelines set.

The City of Zamboanga, represented by Agbulos, gets a plaque of recognition and is recommended to the National Nutrition Council as Green Banner Awardee. Zamboanga City received the prestigious "Green Banner Award" in 1996.

Green Banners and other awards will be presented on Dec. 1 during the Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony. Agbulos, meanwhile, announced that barangay nutrition scholar Teresita Policarpio of Barangat Tetuan was also adjuged as one of the seven 2009 Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars (OBNS) in the region.

The recognition is based on the evaluation of the performance of the Barangay Nutrition Scholars in the region, he said. It is also one of the yearly activities included in the MELPI, he said

Mayor declares Nov. 25-Dec. 1 as Week of Peace in Zamboanga
Friday, 26 November 2010 11:53

Thousands of Zamboanga City residents participated in a two-hour long parade that marked the start of the local celebration of the Week of Peace 2010.

As this developed, City Mayor Celso Lobregat issued an executive order declaring November 25 to December 1 , this year as “Week of Peace in Zamboanga City”.

The announcement was made by Vice-Mayor Cesar Iturralde when he delivered the mayor’s message during the program that followed the parade at the Joaquin Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex.

“I have enjoined all Zamboanguenos from different faiths, customs and traditions to participate and engage in relevant and meaningful activities designed by the organizers to achieve and maintain our common goal for peace in the community in which we live," the mayor said in his message.

Inter-Religious Solidarity Movement for Peace (IRSMP) lead convenor Fr. Angel Calvo said in his brief speech during the program that the annual celebration is a time for city residents from all sectors to renew their commitment to peace and peace-building.

He said “we have come out together to the streets (to join the parade) to show our common concern for peace and to celebrate our diversity” as a population professing different cultural identities.

He also urged for the continued condemnation of violence in society, pointing out to the Maguindanao massacre as indicative of the conflict and violence that continue to hound and ravage the people of Mindanao.

Members of the IRSMP also delivered messages during the program. The Muslim community led by Prof. Ali Yacub said “we Muslims invite everybody to come together with us on the basis of what is common to us, which is also what is most essential to our faith and practice – the two commandments of love of God and neighbor."

The Roman Catholic community represented by PIME priest Fr. Giulio Mariani said “the demand of our mission is for a deepened understanding of other religious communities, their religiosity and their theologies, attitudes of genuine respect and reverence for other beliefs and spiritualities."

The Protestant sector said it “is also united to manifest the same promise to pursue our common aspirations to see peace not simply an abstract ide but rather a real fruit of hard work and unity."

On the other hand, the indigenous community said “we renew our commitment once more to work in the upliftment not only our own tribe but for the greatness of all. Our initiatives will ultimately bring about a harmonious relationship among the indigenous people through regeneration of culture and other peoples to achieve peace as we provide hope and empowerment to engage in peaceful means in effecting reforms in the communities and eventually safeguard our tribal identity."

Other activities will be held throughout the Week in its observance by various sectors and organizations. It is also being observed throughout Mindanao.

The opening program at the grandstand was capped by a large field demonstration participated in by students from 35 public schools in the city. Members of the IRSMP and vice-mayor Iturralde released doves to symbolize the people’s hope for peace. Press Release

I can't go there in August eh. Sa May puede pa. I'd be staying in our Davao house so that would be synonymous to being accompanied by my dad most of the time. Hatid-sundo kung baga, mas comfortable kasi. I'd tell you when my plans are final.

Anyway, may balita na ba sa Gaisano at Shangrila?

Sorry, but this plan doesn't look right. Visit Laoag Airport thread and you will see a feasibility study their of the airport upgrade done by professionals. Zamboanga's proposal should look like that.

Yes, it's not final nor official. I just found it through Google images, probably the work of an ordinary, unprofessional guy who tested his skills in urban planning. :)

DOTC completes feasibility study on P9-B Zambo city airport transfer (http://zamboangatoday.ph/index.php/news/13-top-stories/1844-dotc-completes-feasibility-study-on-p9-b-zambo-city-airport-transfer)
