DBP Zamboanga branch supports key developmental projects in the province such as micro, small and medium enterprises, health care, urban water and sanitation, housing and livelihood. Pipeline projects include a hospital expansion and a poultry business. The branch also provides various deposit and investment products and services to its clients.

Did anyone else notice the design of the steel window grills of the newly built government buildings? They bear the acronym of the mayor's name: CL. But of couse he'd deny that it's related to his name. I hope Sen. Santiago's bill will be implemented soon to prevent further bastardizing of the government projects.

The City General Services Officer (GSO) revealed that the City is set to spend around P1.3 Million for this year’s christmas decorations.

GSO Officer, Engr. Rene Dela Cruz said, “P1 Million to P1.3 Million quita usa todo ya incluhido el plywood, christmas lights, plastics, shower curtains, and paints...”

Dela Cruz revealed that the theme for the city hall decoration this year is Toy Kingdom.

The GSO started repairing some of the decorations since June and they are targeting to finish the work by the last week of November. The simultaneous lighting of the city’s Christmas decorations is expected on the first week of December.

He said, “the public will expect something different for this year and we hope gusta sila.”

Work on Zambo’s P12-B coal fired power plant begins June 2012

Zamboanga City — A power company is expected to start construction of a 100-megawatt coal-fired power plant by June, next year, at barangay Talisayan, over 20 kilometers west of the city proper, according to the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative or Zamcelco.

Zamcelco president Efren Perez said that the memorandum of agreement for the P12-billion project is expected to be signed between the cooperative and project proponent Conan Holdings Corporation by December.
The company is targeting to finish the project after 32 to 36 months.

Perez said that 97 out the 98 barangays in this city already manifested the support for the construction of a plant by the Conan Holdings Corp.
The only barangay opposing the project is Talisayan where the project will be located.

Barangay Talisayan is located just about 20 kilometers away on the western shorelines of Zamboanga City and the peninsula and is adjacent to the Zamboanga Special Economic Zone and Free port Authority, an entity expected to benefit most from the new power facility.

The City Council has already endorsed the project for exploratory study and implementation last June.

City councilor Jaime Cabato said the need for a power plant is urgent because at certain times of the year, such as last March, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) provided the city with only 45 megawatts a day.
Power consumers in Zamboanga require about 98 megawatts a day but the recent power supply problem has resulted in regular two to four-hour brownouts in the city’s 32 electric feeder system.

The power plant will supply electricity to the city and thus ensure that there will be “zero” blackout as it starts producing electricity using coal. (PNA)

LTO Zamboanga City District Office Chief, Noel Noche said that from January to October 2011, only 1,131 government vehicles were registered as compared to the same period last year where 1,448 government vehicles registered.

Noche said one reason for the decrease might be that some government vehicles are already being registered in Pagadian City. It is recalled that many regional offices have already transferred to Pagadian City.

Ang laki ng potential ng port ng ZC International ang standard ng kanyang docking site maka accomodate ng foreign vessels but sad to note na ang facilities niya ay napakalayo sa international standard pwede lang siyang i halintulad sa mga provincial sea ports. If you have gone to Cebu and Bohol ports, you know what I mean. Doon para kang bumaba at sumakay ng aeroplano. Aki? se abaja quita na boat bien largo gat el penetensiya if nuay tu sundo vehicle. Dapat sana itong mga jeepneys natin hindi yan dapat titigil or tatambay sa down town to wait for passengers, in other cities ikot ng ikot yan then pag dating sa dulo ng kanilang destination iibahin na naman ang ruto nila. Kaya ma traffic tayo dito kasi nag siksikan sila at ginawa ihian ang mga walls kung saan sila naka tambay. Pag dating sa uwiaan ng pasahero sabay-sabay din sila mag byahe.

PRC Zamboanga City Chapter Administrator, Victor Liozo Jr. said, “This is to pave way for the conversion of the PRC Blood Bank into a Regional Blood Center for Zamboanga Peninsula.” The conversion will take effect within the year or early next year...

On halt order for bus terminal project rebidding Lobregat: City will file motion for reconsideration

Mayor Celso Lobregat yesterday disclosed that the city government through the City Legal Office is set to file a motion for reconsideration asking the Regional Trial Court to lift its Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) in the rebidding of the Integrated Bus Terminal project in barangay Divisoria, this city.

In an interview after the Pacquiao-Marquez fight at City Hall, Lobregbat said the court’s order was only temporary and there is still a great chance for the city government to rebid the multi-million IBT project to interested contractors.

“The city government is hell-bent in implementing the bus terminal,” Lobregat said.

According to the mayor, the city’s legal counsels are now meeting to thresh out what steps the city government will undertake to counter the RTC order granting a TRO to the petitioners for the rebidding of the multi-million bus terminal project.

“I cannot tell you what the meeting and discussions are all about,” Lobregat said
