Gerky seeks to develop Calarian bog

Councilor Gerky Valesco visited yesterday portions of the so-called Bog lake in Calarian to help the barangay and cooperative officials formulate plans to make the area an eco-tourism destination.
Valesco said the area is ideal for excursions and educational tours considering the place has a scenic and serene lake that straddles three or more barangays.
“Calarian is one of the areas in Zamboanga that is gifted with natural beauty such as the lake. This is wonderful potential for outdoor activities and suitable for young and adventurous people,” Valesco said.

He said that among the activities that people can do to have fun while in Calarian are; boating, fishing, bird watching, trekking and other things. The active councilor was accompanied by Calarian barangay kagawad Andres Evangelista Jr and officers of the Pantano Cooperative, and Tom Lacandalo.
Valesco disclosed that the lake different fish species like tilapia.
“People can go fishing and there are vegetations near the banks which the cooperative members like corn, root crops, and vegetables.
“Once this area is developed, this can translate into source of job and income for the residents of Calarian. I suggested to them to invite students to fish or just to commune with nature,” Valesco said.
Valesco also commended Calarian officials led by its chairperson Flor Arcillas for being dynamic and responsive to the needs of the people. Meanwhile, Valesco said young people nowadays spent more time playing computer and other electronic gadgets, thus they have less time to appreciate the beauty of their environment. — RF

no its not...its Mindanao Provincial Mall a former Coco lumber dealer in Zamboanga City who owned by a Filipino-chinese business man who came from Fujian Province in China.

^^how come na naging mindanao provincial Mall?kung i based mo and ask kung wat and wer kinuha ung MINDPRO name its actually Mindanao Product Inc. then they name it to their mall kaya Mindpro citi mall.actually kamag anak lng sila ng mga Shop orama if im not wrong...Mindpro Citimall , budget wise supermarket and Cuidad Medical are owned by one :)

Filinvest opens up projects in Vismin high-growth areas

Filinvest has been steadily establishing its presence in Mindanao and Visayas, expanding geographically with a range of projects in high-growth regional areas like Zamboanga City.

Tristan Las Marias, Filinvest vice president, said in a news conference that for families all over the country, they provide a wide selection of themed communities with all the essentials of a complete lifestyle – impeccable location, well-crafted homes and safe neighborhoods – plus the distinctive charm of a provincial setting.
Renowned for its natural beauty and rich historic past, Cebu has become the business and tourism gateway to the Southern Philippines. Its proximity to pristine beaches and a year-round temperate climate make it an attractive place to live. Catering to both locals and vacation home seek distinctive charm of a provincial setting.
Corona del Mar, Filinvest’s first seaside development, boasts of prime beachfront residences facing the Bohol Strait with luxurious amenities highlighting the coastal ambience. In nearby Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Tropics offers a tropical-inspired backdrop near the Mactan International Airport and Export Processing Zone 2. Meanwhile, Aldea del Sol is a Spanish Mediterranean community that features residential lots and house and lot packages just minutes away from the pleasant beaches of Maribago.
Orange Grove in Davao City marked Filinvest’s initial foray into the island of Mindanao. With its high elevation, the mountain park theme showcases nature’s attractions and an inspiring panorama of the surrounding areas. Its success led to the launching of other residential communities in the city.
Fuente de Villa-Abrille and Le Jardin de Villa Abrille both offer a comfortable lifestyle with the convenience of being near malls and commercial centers in the heart of Davao City. People who want a more tranquil setting can opt for the beachfront residences of Ocean Cove. Right across the popular Mergrande Ocean Resort, Villa Mercedita offers a tropical haven with a special privilege for residents to use the resort’s facilities. Both communities are located just 15 to 20 minutes away from the Davao City Proper.
Las Marias said that in the nearby provinces, Filinvest again applies its expertise in property development with the pioneering communities of Filinvest Homes Tagum and Filinvest Homes Butuan. Making their mark as the first exclusive residential subdivisions in both cities, they offer complete facilities with a range of recreational amenities.
“Further south in Zamboanga City, Villa San Ignacio features serene Spanish-Mediterranean living right across the Ateneo de Zamboanga,” he said.
Poised to spark an urban renewal in Mindanao is One Oasis Davao, a sprawling Asian-inspired medium-rise condominium community in Matina, Davao City. Breaking free from the concrete jungle, the complex is envisioned as a garden oasis with lush streetscapes and pocket parks within the gated community. Seemingly nestled in a world of its own, One Oasis Davao is literally just steps away from SM City Davao with its wide range of shopping and dining choices. Within five minutes driving distance are schools, churches, health clinics and commercial establishments.
One Oasis Davao is composed of four residential condominium buildings and three condotel buildings on a 2.3-hectare property. Rising five storeys each, the buildings are laid out efficiently to give residents a sense of space and privacy. Each one offers spacious studios, 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom units with facilities designed for comfort and convenience. Centralized resort-inspired amenities such as a swimming pool, a clubhouse, and venues for outdoor activities contribute to the refreshing lifestyle.
“Wherever you choose to settle, you can definitely find a home in any of Filinvest’s projects that perfectly suits your lifestyle and distinct requirements. With projects all over the archipelago, you have virtually unlimited options and a choice of home living experiences,” Las Marias.
Filinvest faces the choose to settle, you can definitely find a home in any of Filinvest’s projects that perfectly suits your lifestyle and distinct requirements. With projects all over the archipelago future with a ceaseless drive to expand its reach even further and to reach more countrymen though its projects. The company will continue to venture into new territories as it remains committed to building the Filipino dream, one home at a time, all over the Philippines, he concluded.

Zest Air will deploy it's third MA in Zamboanga for Zamboanga-Jolo-Tawitawi-& Sandakan route.
BUt I guess no one will dare to ride this MA for International after what happened in Caticlan when MA crashed since MA is not qualified for international standards of FAA. :)
Domestic Airline remains bullish on the Philippines

Manila -Airlines operating in the Philippines remains upbeat on their growth potential despite bleak forecast on international travel reported by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Zest Air Chairman Donald Dee said that the two MA-60 will be stationed in Cebu while the third one will be stationed in Zamboanga to restore and expand its old domestic network.

oo nga... history in the making na 'to... ZestAir will showcase Zamboanga as their first international route after re-branding Asian Spirit to ZestAir. The route is said to be CEB-ZAM-SDK & v.versa starting July 22, 2009, MON-WED-FRI... Very good news ito! Lapus urges communities to replicate Zamboanga's 'best practice'

Pasig City (10 June) -- Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Jesli Lapus cites Operation 10 R – or Recycle, Repair, Refurbish, Rehabilitate, Restore, Remodel, Repaint, Renew, Redistribute and Reuse – as a best practice that should be replicated in all communities to maximize scrap materials that can be reused to construct new school furniture.

"This is a model not only for public schools, but for everyone to maximize our limited resources. We thank Mayor Celso Lobregat of Zamboanga for spearheding Operation 10R, which is the best way to avoid wastage of resources that will benefit most of all our public schools," Lapus said.

Operation 10R – which is piloted in Zamboanga City – is supported by the local government and government agencies in the locality, namely: the city government of Zamboanga, DepEd Regional Office IX, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Commission on Audit (COA).

Academic institutions, civic and business groups who are participating in Operation 10R include Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College, Western Mindanao State University, Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology, Zamboanga Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Industrial Group of Zamboanga, Los Contratistas De La Cuidad De Zamboanga, Southern Philippines Deep Sea Fishing Association, and Zamboanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

There are possible na mag eend na ang service ng Seair sa Zambo-Jolo and Tawi-tawi. BUT matatapos narin ang expansion ng runway and renovation ng terminal sa Jolo airport at Sanga-sang airport by this August, since the construction period is good for 300 days only and they started last October 2008.
