I have nothing against your mayor or his projects but if you want to "overpassed" the cities you mention, you need to look more what the cities already have and mind you it's not all about MALLS. (since your fond of "MALLS")

you want to overcome zamboanga? beat zamboanga in terms of 1.) trade and commerce 2.) Banking 3.) Tourism 4.) Health services 5.) Educational center 6.) Industry

you want to overcome davao? Gensan? CDO? Is there a time that your brain works correctly? have you not think that davao and CDO are prime cities already? and that they are already far from pagadian?

‘America’ concert in Zambo on August 5

America, the world’s greatest folk-rock band is definitely going to perform live in Zamboanga City on August 5, 2009 at the Summit Centre in Tetuan.
This confirmation came after Councilor Gerky Valesco led officials of the Ovations Promotions, Inc., the group in charge in bringing foreign artists in the country visited Zamboanga City yesterday for an on-site visitation of the concert venue.

Valesco said, Renen and Celine De Guia of Ovations met with the local organizers led by Jovee Ilagan of the Mayo Cinco Promotions for a confirmation and “binder” meetings. The group also met with Dominique “Nikki” Lim and with the Astoria management for the ground preparations of the show.
“Its definite. America is coming to Zamboanga City to do a one-night only show at the Summit, and I am happy that Zamboangueños have got into the project to help showcase that Zamboanga is one destination worthy to visit and stay and for international performances,” Valesco said.
America is a multi-awardee folk-rock band responsible for hits such as: “All My Life”, “Inspector Mills”, “I Need You”, “Horse With No Name”, “Sand Man”, “Sister Golden Hair”, Ventura Highway and several others.
Valesco said among the artists lined up for Zamboanga show are; Stephen Bishop, John Ford Coley, and Lea Salonga. The councilor informed that Boyz II Men who will perform in Manila in the coming months nixed the city in favor of Manila and Cebu due to its talent fee rates.
Valesco also said that Mayo Cinco Promotions consist of young Zamboangueños who are helping out in promoting the city.
“Actually, Ovations of Manila is the one doing everything in terms of sponsorships and productions, but Mayo Cinco of Zamboanga helps out in identifying the venue and prospect of the show,” Valesco said.
Ovations also met with Mr. Danny Lim, chief executive officer of the Astoria group of companies.
Meanwhile, Jovee Ilagan of Mayo Cinco said, he is confident that Zamboanga City will once again play host to this wonderful event that even visitors from around the peninsula and nearby provinces will definitely be coming to see the show. Ilagan has also worked for the Lettermen show last year.

‘America’ concert in Zambo on August 5

America, the world’s greatest folk-rock band is definitely going to perform live in Zamboanga City on August 5, 2009 at the Summit Centre in Tetuan.
This confirmation came after Councilor Gerky Valesco led officials of the Ovations Promotions, Inc., the group in charge in bringing foreign artists in the country visited Zamboanga City yesterday for an on-site visitation of the concert venue.

Valesco said, Renen and Celine De Guia of Ovations met with the local organizers led by Jovee Ilagan of the Mayo Cinco Promotions for a confirmation and “binder” meetings. The group also met with Dominique “Nikki” Lim and with the Astoria management for the ground preparations of the show.
“Its definite. America is coming to Zamboanga City to do a one-night only show at the Summit, and I am happy that Zamboangueños have got into the project to help showcase that Zamboanga is one destination worthy to visit and stay and for international performances,” Valesco said.
America is a multi-awardee folk-rock band responsible for hits such as: “All My Life”, “Inspector Mills”, “I Need You”, “Horse With No Name”, “Sand Man”, “Sister Golden Hair”, Ventura Highway and several others.
Valesco said among the artists lined up for Zamboanga show are; Stephen Bishop, John Ford Coley, and Lea Salonga. The councilor informed that Boyz II Men who will perform in Manila in the coming months nixed the city in favor of Manila and Cebu due to its talent fee rates.
Valesco also said that Mayo Cinco Promotions consist of young Zamboangueños who are helping out in promoting the city.
“Actually, Ovations of Manila is the one doing everything in terms of sponsorships and productions, but Mayo Cinco of Zamboanga helps out in identifying the venue and prospect of the show,” Valesco said.
Ovations also met with Mr. Danny Lim, chief executive officer of the Astoria group of companies.
Meanwhile, Jovee Ilagan of Mayo Cinco said, he is confident that Zamboanga City will once again play host to this wonderful event that even visitors from around the peninsula and nearby provinces will definitely be coming to see the show. Ilagan has also worked for the Lettermen show last year.

The Zamboanga Football Association Team (Boy’s Under 14 Category) was declared champion during the recently concluded 2009 Hudyaka Zanorte Football Festival last June 1 to 2, 2009 at the Andres Bonifacio College Field in Dipolog City.

Paticipants aside from Zamboanga were from Cebu City, Cagayan De Oro City, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental Football Association and Iligan Lanao Football Association..

The Zamboanga team beat Dumaguete City in the final games.
Zamboanga Football Association head Vicente Torres disclosed that the Zamboanga team was also declared third in rank in football championship during the concluded Palarong Pambansa 2009 held in Samar last April.
The team is composed of Kenneth Marvin C. Bantoto, Jefferson R. Duruin, Joan C. Enriquez, Eddess A. Gonzaga, Mark Anthony L. Guevarra, Jericho Manalon, Engel A. Narvaez, Mark Grant C. Delso Reyes, Vincent Paul S. Suarez and Giancarlo I. Torres.

CHED EYES ZAMBOANGA AS "SPORTS POWER" NATIONAWIDE

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) under the leadership of Secretary Emmanuel Angeles is now on the verge of making Zamboanga as one of the “sports power” cities nationwide.
WMSU Prof. and IHK Consultant Elbert “Bong” Atilano, who came from Manila last week said that the CHED Secretary “appreciated what we have done in the past three (3) successful hosting of the National PRISAA Games here in our city.”
The Commission is more likely to adopt a system that was developed in Zamboanga City to be implemented for school year 2009-2010 nationwide.
Angeles himself saw the successful hosting of Zamboanga in the National PRISAA Games when he was still the PRISAA National Chairman.

Atilano said that the city never realized that we are going to develop Olympians like Hidilyn Diaz in weightlifting and Harry Tañamor in boxing “despite their very young ages – it means, we have better programs compared to other cities and regions nationwide,” Atilano stressed.
The CHED is now working for a bigger budget for the implementation of the sports program to develop including the Physical Education (PE) aspect to be more comprehensive.

Atilano appealed to the media practitioners to support and promote sports not only in Zamboanga but nationwide, saying sports is an important undertaking that teaches sportsmanship.
“Let us put sports in politics so that these people (politicians) will really learn how to play fair and to accept defeat. But let us not put politics in sports,” Atilano said. (Monch L. Follosco)
