Greg March 11th, 2004, 09:27 AM Ah, these are awesome Szehoong! Did you sneak into JW Marriott? :?
Nova Singapore March 11th, 2004, 06:40 PM Hehehe, did he sneak in? ;-)
Nevertheless, a good move with that skyway - not only Ritz-Carlton guests can walk to Bt Walk in comfort, but Starhill shopping centre gets more traffic (which it sorely needs).
Talk abt Starhill, Tangs is gone now - do u think something like Kaufhof from Germany or Sears from USA should have an outlet there?
Greg March 12th, 2004, 10:32 AM Tang's was the in the basement, close to Ralph Lauren, right?
I could imagine that a Parkson Shop would do great there. Maybe they can kick-off a new concept store there. Parkson Grand for large mall's and something maybe called Parkson-City for smaller locations.
TYW March 12th, 2004, 01:27 PM quick pregress!! great news and pics;)

hehehe...thanks NOva I looked forward to be in your room to take pictures again!....This time can you get a room facing the other side? :D :D :D
Yeah.......the skyway is good. Furthermore it connects the currently 'isolated' Ritz-Carlton with Bintang Walk.
I am not to aure bout Kaufhof but I dislike Sears. I dun think Sears could properly serve the market and the environment at Starhill. I would think perhaps a 'mini me' version of Harrods there would be cool .......just like the Harrods at KLIA but this one of course biggerlah!

Yea....actually Tangs is the anchor tenant there which occupies 4 floors. A Parkson there would be great.....In fact I think better than Sears - Nova's suggestion but having Sears isn't that bad......just that I dun really like Sears to be there......hehehe :D
In fact Parkson alreay already had a concept store which targets at the young and affluent at the new wing of 1 Utama. It is called U Parkson. It is much cosier and offers better customer experience than any other Parkson stores.
In fact the area that Tangs vacate would easily fit a Parkson Grand there as it is kinda big. But I would prefer their new concept store. Just a bit of trivia bout Parkson.....Did you know Parkson has smaller outlets than Parkson Grand? They're called Parkson Ria ;) The Parkson Retail Group also consist of Xtra Superstore which isn't doing too well. The one at Prangin Mall just closed down :(

Precisely the reason why I thought that it was Baq who was inside Nova's room instead of your. Don't have to go the extra mile to show me my own mistake.

yup.....last time Mohd Al-Fayed came in 1998 and Dr. M asked if there is a possibility that Harrods could have a store in Msia and he responded by having one at KLIA :okay:
The store actually had a very nice cafe but haven't been there....just passes by many times.....hehehe :D
IMO it should be located at the Satellite building instead of the Main Terminal Building ;)
And I would like to get one of those Harrods' bears! ;)

Anyway all the Tangs in Malaysia had since closed down. There are only 2 if I am correct - one at Starhill Centre and another at Sunway Pyramid.
The first casualty is the one at Sunway.......then the one at Starhill. The Starhill Tangs is actually the first to opened ....that is in 1995. It operated for 8 years...... :(

Greg May 27th, 2004, 08:53 AM Yeah, we're a bit off topic here. How tall is it now? ;)
baqthier June 7th, 2004, 12:26 AM Still no idea! I hope some Bukit Bintang frequenters could give some updates..at least on how the facade is now ;)

ZaHiRnYa??? August 31st, 2005, 11:45 AM Yup. Completed already wor :D
Greg September 1st, 2005, 02:16 PM The Ritz-Carlton Residences service suites, which are part of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Kuala Lumpur, expect an occupancy rate of more than 50% this year, its general manager Stephen Cokkinias said.
“Our target is always 100% but, realistically, we will probably fall short of that. But, many of the residences are already occupied,” said Cokkinias.
Speaking to reporters in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 1 at the official launch of the Residences, the Ritz-Carlton Spa Village and the Ritz-Carlton conference rooms, Cokkinias indicated that the 110 unit service suites’ current occupancy rate was more than 50%.
All three additions to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel cost RM150 million to develop and opened for business as of April this year.
Cokkinias said the hotel was targeting a more than 50% occupancy rate for the service suites for this year alone and he was very confident of reaching those targets.
“Kuala Lumpur has had a great increase in interest in service suites. To have a residence with the Ritz-Carlton brand is an incredible draw, especially with international guests to have that quality, service, security and privacy that the hotel is known for worldwide.
Independent figures provided by the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) indicated that overall room occupancy rates in Kuala Lumpur are on the up. According MAH executive director Sarjit Singh, June’s figure of 73% was 2% higher than the average total for the whole of 2004.
The association did not have any figures for service suites and service apartments.
Target-wise, said Cokkinias, the Residences were aimed at “a mix of clients, generally those who want that little more service, little more privacy that the RC has been known for”.
“Our target market is the traveller who’s looking for that little more pampering and that could be from any where. We’ve got local guests who want that. We also have guests from all regions like Australia, US and Europe.
“We are also aiming at guests on extended stay in Kuala Lumpur, those looking for temporary residences while looking for more permanent addresses, and even permanent residences,” he added, stating that short-term, weekend leases were also available.

nazrey January 10th, 2006, 07:10 PM The Ritz-Carlton,
your home in Kuala Lumpur
Source : News (http://www.ameinfo.com/75319.html)
Special features of The Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur hotel include full butler service, a 14th floor club lounge and the largest rooms in the city, plus a link to the most luxurious shopping mall in Malaysia and its 16 restaurant food-court.
Stay in The Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur and you could shop, dine-out and relax by the swimming pool without stepping outside the confines of the complex.
This 248-room hotel tower is connected by a walkway to the Ritz-Carlton Residence, and then to the Starhill Gallery, Malaysia's newest and most exclusive shopping mall, where the finest brand names in the world are to be found.
The Starhill Gallery also features one of the most luxurious food-courts ever created; indeed this is really a collection of 16 individual restaurants, from Mythai to Jake's Charbroll Steak and Asian cuisines from Indian through to South Korean.
This is a formidable line-up and the Ritz-Carlton has cleverly decided not to compete, and instead the hotel limits itself to the Li Yen award-winning Cantonese restaurant. However, guests may choose to have club facilities in The Ritz-Carlton lounge on the 14th floor with five food and beverage presentations daily, including breakfast.

KL's biggest rooms
Rooms in The Ritz-Carlton are the largest in Kuala Lumpur at 46 square metres, and are decorated in the traditional Ritz-Carlton style with a collection of 19th and 20th century artworks. The marble bathrooms are also typical of the chain with separate showers and full amenities.
But the full butler service is a welcome addition. For club guests the butler service also includes complimentary laundry with next day delivery, and how pleasant to have your soiled garments taken away on arrival. The butler is also on hand to help you pack, and knows how best to squeeze shopping into suitcases from long experience.
The hotel is well located, just 10 minutes away from the Petronas Twin Towers, now the world's second tallest building which has a large shopping mall in its basement, and five minutes away from the Bintang Walk, another popular area for shopping and dining.
If you tire of shopping and eating, then retreat to the hotel's 'Spa Village' with multiple treatment rooms for massage and beauty treatments, and its own exclusive outdoor swimming pool with waterfalls. Or the more energetic can try the 24-hour fitness centre, sauna, Jaccuzi and terrace swimming pool.
Limited sightseeing
It has to be said that cultural attractions in Kuala Lumpur are limited. Our taxi driver claimed that all the main sights could be done in three hours, and even that proved too long. This could clearly be a disadvantage for longer stays.
However, Kuala Lumpur is well blessed with some excellent shopping bargains such as local brand name shoes and handbags; and food is relatively inexpensive and of very high quality; alcohol is available everywhere, even in the street, which is unusual in a Muslim country.
So if you are heading for the 'Malaysia, truly Asia' experience then it would make sense to make yourself as at home as possible by staying in the Ritz-Carlton while you are there.
nazrey December 10th, 2008, 12:59 AM KL hotel is the best in South East Asia
Wednesday December 10, 2008
THE Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur won the South East Asia’s Hotel of the Year 2008-2010 under the Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards (HAPA) - Regional Series.
The hotel was recognised for its commitment to excellence, flawless facilities and personalised care.
It was a finalist in five categories — Hotel of the Year, Signature Luxury Hotel, Signature Hotel Spa (Spa Village, Kuala Lumpur), Most Exquisite Palate Experience and Most Dynamic General Manager.
The evaluation process spanned eight months and included leading hotels in South East Asia.
Each hotel was reviewed anonymously by a panel of judges, who sampled and rated hotel services, facilities, dining, spa, and overall hotel image.
Hotel’s general manager Stephen A. Cokkinias said the award was a result of teamwork.
“This truly belongs to our employees who have been providing good service and exceptional products and facilities for our guests.
“We are happy with the award and truly honoured,” he said.
The awards, organised by World Asia Publishing, is in its seventh year and have grown substantially from its inception.
The aim of HAPA is to continuously recognise and pay tribute to the exceptional professionals and establishments in the hospitality industry.
