Marathaman November 2nd, 2011, 06:59 PM Yes. I would go so far as to say that industrialization is never bad. It is the only way forward for India.
If you want to industrialize, you have to acquire lands. Acquire them at market rate, don't cheat the farmers - that should be the only guiding principle. But land acquisition is unavoidable.
I don't want to nitpick, but racing track + residential complex is not industrialization.
Anyways, the construction will generate non-agricultural jobs in the area, no doubt. NCR will expand after all.
KavirajG November 2nd, 2011, 07:41 PM India needs more ventures like F1. Although accessible to the select few, it can become a major sport-entertainment industry if it can make inroads among the masses. Increased awareness can create lots of jobs in the advertising, broadcasting, hospitality and automotive industries. Add to this product franchise and merchandising. Moreover, it will create a whole new driving passion and culture which is badly needed in India.
And while some might disagree, India needs some classy and luxurious events like F1 as it cruises forward on this new world stage! :D

Always a pleasure Sir Jee
@kaviraaj : That cart and the people on it possibly took a wrong turn and were themselves stunned to see what happened to their quaint and sleepy town today, they were quickly shown the right way out though.
@ Illusionist : That right turn to the parking is not a part of the expressway, I took an exit towards the left from the expressway and then there were separate roads leading to separate parking areas. Traffic was heavy as expected though.
A few things I hope JayPee makes note of could be emphasis on better traffic management , bigger LED's with more of them around every stand as some people are actually interested in timing of laps and other data in addition to improved food stall management which was at times chaotic.
Apart from such minor issues the event was brilliantly managed and crowds were really excited and a good turnout just added to the atmosphere.

Very well pointed out. I could hardly follow who was where in grid positions. The Screens were so far that without binoculars it was not possible to see the timings and other data shown out there
F1 is just not about cars running round n round, it has so many technicalities like who is using which tyre (supersoft or soft or medium or hard). And if we cant follow those datas inside the stadium, half of the fun is gone.

Ya how abt ideas like sending out current race positions thru WiFi/Bluetooth etc to mobiles, sending video clips of interesting events like failures, collisions etc.
That would be really nice n possibly a huge tower with huge circular rings with the names of each driver which can be seen from anywhere on the circuit. The order of rings indicate the current order on track. That way people who aren't able to follow much of the action through the screens can also follow it quite well IMHO :)

There is an official F1 app available for Android and iOS (probably for other mobile platforms too). The app shows live timing and other data like weather, wind etc. So all you need is a way to connect to the Internet. I don't know how good the 3G connectivity in Greater Noida is, or if they provide WiFi for the spectators.

only two types of tyres are used in a race, softer of the two has yellow marking on car tyre sides. But grid position becomes difficult to see once tail end cars are lapped and pit stops are taken :ohno:
nandan_ks November 3rd, 2011, 01:23 PM ^^
Italian tyre manufacturers Pirelli, embarking on the first season of a three-year agreement to supply Formula One, have revealed the colours that will distinguish the six different types of rubber that will be used throughout 2011.
Each type will carry its own distinct colouring on the Pirelli and PZero logos affixed to the sidewall. Under the sport's rules, only two compounds of slick tyre - known as the prime and the option - will be used for each race. In addition to this, intermediate and wet tyres can be fitted if it rains.
The six colours are as follows:
Wet - orange
Intermediate - light blue
Super soft - red
Soft - yellow
Medium - white
Hard - silver

Yeah thats true, but for every race weakend, only two types of tyres are given to the teams by Pirelli. And this tyre choice is made taking into mind track degradation etc, and the choice is revealed much before the race weakend.

From transporting 350 tonnes of cargo to smooth running of the race
Logistics, the biggest challenge
Roshan Thyagarajan
Formula One comes to India, and with it come 65 fully grown African Elephants. No, this is not Jaypee Sports International entertaining one of Bernie Ecclestones’ whim and fancy, this is what truly makes F1.
What 65 Elephants amount to is roughly around 350 tonnes, and that is exactly how much will fly into India on the eve of Indian Grand Prix at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.
Logistics, as Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) President Vicky Chandhok had mentioned earlier this year, will be the biggest challenge for the organisers ahead of the inaugural Indian Grand Prix.
Why? You need to transport a part of the cargo from South Korea and from several other venues after what may seem like weeks of planning and packing. Then, the task of moving all of this from the Indira Gandhi International Airport to the track which is roughly 70-km away.
For millions of viewers, it all begins when the five red lights go off on a Sunday afternoon, but for each of the 12 logistics’ departments, it all actually begins much before the start of the season.
When FIA release the official calendar at the start of the year, the logistics team gets to work with booking flights, hotels, and more importantly, how to move the cars.
For races away from Europe, the cars, spare parts and equipment are transported by air but for European races everything is transported by truck. The cars are mounted on pallets for overseas races so they fit on top of each other in the hold of the plane.
There are also six or seven engines so the team is equipped for any eventuality, with a huge number of tools and spare parts. To add to that, every spare part has unique serial number so that replacements can be brought in from the factory in quick time.
The basic equipment includes 16 computers and 28 laptops plus 100 radios for quick communication. Not to forget, four thousand bottles of mineral water for the team and its guests.
It takes an army of people from F1 logistics partner DHL, a fleet of five Boeing-747s, 35 container units, a ship to get them from A to B, multiple trucks and even an helicopter in case of late arrivals.
The real work, however, begins when all the trucks roll onto the track and unloading begins. Once unloaded and placed then its time to race. Intense driving and champagne showers may follow but in about two hours from the start, it’s back to square one for the men cheering from the background.
As far the Indian GP in concerned, the Boeings will come to a halt at the T2 terminal and the organisers, with the help of logistics partner RE Rogers, will move the material to the circuit.
This will be in addition to the tonnes of cargo -- including 30,000 litres of high-octane petrol and furnishings -- that have already started arriving by sea. Items being sourced from within the country include 40,000 litres of diesel.
JPSI has set a standard of four hours to unload the entire cargo and get it going to the track. The time taken to get the cargo from tarmac to tarmac has been pegged at no less than 10 hours.
“The FIA is very professional about everything related to the operational part of an F1 race. I see this is as a good challenge for the people involved and an opportunity to show our efficiency to the world,” said Chandhok.
Opportunity or not, this is perhaps the biggest logistics drill to have ever been conducted in India.

Euromast November 3rd, 2011, 05:12 PM Buddh International Circuit looking to host 4-5 events a year
NEW DELHI: The dust from the weekend is settling down but Sameer Gaur has little time to relax. The enthusiasm and turnout that he and his team saw at the Buddh International Circuit on Sunday means that the momentum generated by Formula 1's debut in India has to be maintained.
Gaur, managing director of Jaypee Sports International Ltd, has seven proposals at hand from series and events just waiting for the green signal from JPSI.
"As of now, I have slotted time after November 10 to schedule meetings with representatives from MotoGP, V8 Supercars, World Superbikes, manufacturers like Porsche and Audi. In all, there are seven proposals for me to discuss," Gaur told TOI.
Talks are also on with i1 Super Series promoters Machdar Motors. "But I'm still not completely sold over their idea," Gaur said.
The next international entity to come down to Greater Noida could very well be the World Superbikes and/or the V8 Supercars, according to Gaur.

I know....
In every race there are two types of tyres used.
At Indian Grand prix they used soft compound(yellow) n hard compound(white)
And i could easily make out who was using which tyre. But there were many in the stands who didnt know the details who couldnot understand
Also one cant make out difference between the two drivers of same team.
The screens needs to be GIANT.

generally same team drivers dont get to overtake each other - so you know which driver is in the front car you dont need to see helmet design etc. in case of start of the race even commentator was mistaken to say hamilton overtook alonso which he corrected later to button. But big problem is some str-ferrari car which looks same as red bull cars :ohno:
rockystone November 4th, 2011, 07:08 AM Formula 1 impact: Noida races past Gurgaon
http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/news-by-industry/et-cetera/formula-1-impact-noida-races-past-gurgaon/articleshow/10601198.cms
The stars have long departed after India's first F1 race last weekend, but the stardust they have left behind is lending glitter to Delhi's satellite cities of Noida and Greater Noida. Long plagued by perceptions of crime and sloth and often the subject of unflattering comparisons with rival satellite city, Gurgaon, which over the past decade became the destination of choice in the National Capital Region for multinational corporations to set up their Indian headquarters, Noida and its sister city Greater Noida seem to have got a major image makeover - and over a single weekend.
Images of some of the most photographed faces on the planet - celebrity race drivers, movie stars and starlets, business tycoons and politicians - rubbing shoulders against the backdrop of a glitzy racetrack off a gleaming yet-to-be-opened expressway appears to have done the trick. The successful execution of the three-day F1 jamboree from October 28-30 at Greater Noida did not just introduce the contest of the racing cars to the country; it also showcased impressive infrastructure development so close to the national capital.
"F1 has drawn attention to the infrastructure in Noida and Greater Noida," says Anshuman Magazine, chairman and managing director (South Asia) of real estate consultancy firm CB Richard Ellis. "Its impact may not be immediate, but in the medium to long term, we should see a lot of companies wanting to come here."
The smooth access to the venue through Noida, the newly laid track in the proposed Jaypee Sports City and the upcoming 165-km access-controlled Yamuna Expressway, which will cut travel time to Agra by about two hours, provided glimpses into a developing destination where space is still available.
It helped that the convergence of speed and entertainment, big business and international glamour at the event ensured rare upbeat news from India's most populous state that is going to the polls early next year. Speedier access to the city of Taj Mahal, besides proximity to Delhi, is causing a virtual stampede of hotel chains into the area. About 18 new hotels with 4,200 rooms between them are coming up, most of them along a single road, according to real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield.
This will be a dramatic shift from the current figures of four hotels with 300 rooms in all. St Regis, Grand Hyatt, Radisson, Fairfield Inn, Movenpick, Marriott and Ritz Carlson are some of the brands that will adorn the 25-km Noida-Greater Noida expressway. Barclays, Samsung Electronics, Intel and Oracle have set up offices in Noida in the recent past, says Shakti Nath, managing director of Logix Group, a real estate developer
A number of our investors and FDI partners were here for F1 and have gone back with a positive mindset about making further investments in the Noida-Greater Noida region," he says. Manoj Gaur of the Jaypee Group, which brought the F1 race into India, built the racetrack in Greater Noida and ensured its successful execution, is more ebullient about the city's prospects.
"In the next five years, you will see 10 times of what you have seen in the last five years in Greater Noida," says Gaur, whose firm is one of the biggest landowners in the area. The change in the tone of the discourse is particularly startling because it was only this year that both Noida and Greater Noida were in the news for all the wrong reasons.
ManiacArijit November 4th, 2011, 12:01 PM generally same team drivers dont get to overtake each other - so you know which driver is in the front car you dont need to see helmet design etc. in case of start of the race even commentator was mistaken to say hamilton overtook alonso which he corrected later to button. But big problem is some str-ferrari car which looks same as red bull cars :ohno:
There are certain differences between the Red Bull and the STR cars. Just get a little more practice and u'll be able to distinguish them quite easily. For e.g. the nose of the Red Bull cars is bright yellow while that of the STR cars are a more subtle Gold. And then there is the front wing endplate (i.e. the leftmost and rightmost parts of the front wing when u look at the car from the front. The endplates of the STR are gold but those of the Red Bull are mainly Blue with a touch of red.
This way you can distinguish the cars easily.
As for distinguishing the cars of a single team, there is another easy way other than trying to remember the helmet design (although that really helps for the red helmet of schumi :)).
Every team has first driver and second driver (usually based on the previous seasons standings). Now what you need to do is to look at the small wing like thing (its T-shaped if you look at the car head-on) at the topmost part of the car above and behind the drivers head (above the airbox in technical terms). That is the FIA camera mount. Look for the colour on that mount other than the black mount itself. The colour will be red for the first driver of the team. (As shown here in the link for Sebastien Vettel's RB7)
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ee/Sebastian_Vettel_2011_Malaysia_FP2_3.jpg
While the same mount has a fluorescent yellow colour for the second driver of the team. (As shown in the link for Mark Webber's RB7)
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b1/Mark_Webber_2011_Malaysia_Qualify.jpg
You see that the colours differ significantly. They do this so that anyone can easily differciate the car (for instance the FIA Observer sitting the Safety Car when its deployed). So if you know who the first and seccond drivers are you can easily tell the cars apart.
Hope this helps you a bit my friend :)

Visor007 November 4th, 2011, 12:59 PM There is an official F1 app available for Android and iOS (probably for other mobile platforms too). The app shows live timing and other data like weather, wind etc. So all you need is a way to connect to the Internet. I don't know how good the 3G connectivity in Greater Noida is, or if they provide WiFi for the spectators.
I have used the F1 app for Symbian on the circuit during the race. 3G connectivity was quite good and the updates were almost real-time

This the first circuit... so have patience man, we will sure come up with bigger ones.. also, its better to build small scale projects and analyze how everything goes than to create a mega project which would even fail to bring in any money.. so dont worry... INDIANISM sure is LATE but not WRONG

Again, a comment with lack of background check.
BIC is in the sports city complex owned by Jaypee....
The area is HUGE.....
It was Hermann Tilke's design. I dont think he made the design with much of a space restriction.
And anyways from where the h**l have you learnt that longer(in terms of Kms) circuit are better???
Each and every drivers have been overjoyed by its design.
It has high speed straights with change of elevation, slow corners, high speed chicanes, turkish gp like turn 11-12-13, a 16 turn circuit with avg speed 210kmph.. wtf do you want more???
And if you want more, first i guess you have more knowledge about circuit designs than F1 drivers and second go and complain to Tilke man, Jaypee had nothing to do with the design, they just implemented the design perfectly. Infact it was Jaypee who sent the circuit design simulators to various F1 teams at the very start of the season to get feedback from them so that any further changes are needed to increase overtaking opportunities.

You guy's check 19 various Circuit's (2011 Calender year). Bhuddh is small circuit in the world (NON-STREET). It is flat.

In my point of view I differ of your point, first, i impressed, for a lot of reasons, one of this, is the circuit result more faster than the experts pointed, the faster lap was expected in 1:27:000, and the qualy the time was of 1:24:178, 3 seconds more faster than the expected.
Another reason is this is the second faster circuit in the season, with a length of 5.141 km, this circuit is very fast, but this circuit is not the smaller, the circuit of Interlagos has a lenght 4.309km making this the most smaller in the calendary, also the circuit of Nurburing, has the same lenght that the Budd Intl Circuit, only a few meters more 5.148 km, seven meters more than the Budd and the lap record in the Nurburing is of 1:29:468, and also the Nurburing is an historic circuit. Interlagos is not only a circuit with 4.3 km, we can see the Gilles Villenueve, the Hungaroring and this two circuits have a lot of time in the F1.
Now to built a circuit with a lenght of 5.5 or more kms, in this age is imposible, the last year when Bahrain agree one sector to the circuit, making of 6 kms, the circuit become very boring, because was very slow, there is only two circuits with 5.5 or more kms, Monza and Spa, the two circuits are mantain in the calendar, because are the two faster and most historics circuits in F1.
In America (continent not country) the most part of fans and journalism have a good impression with the circuit, in my opinion is a good circuit one of the better jobs of Tilke, obviously, they complain about the infraestructure, but they expect in a year that all the problems of infraestructure will be solve for the next year.
Indian Sun November 6th, 2011, 06:32 AM Nice pictures. BIC should go a notch higher in F1 2012.

I was actually thinking how would the marshalls handle a safety car or worse a red flag period. But I guess as we saw during quali they handled it pretty well. Nice thought on the part of the race organisers to rope in marshals from abu dhabi atleast for this year to supervise the indian marshals as its their first day on the job.

One person is homeless after fire ripped through a bachelor apartment downtown.
It happened around 6:18 p.m. Tuesday at 442 Nelson St. — a small two-storey building divided into units.
One caller to 911 said smoke was coming from a window on the first floor.
Firefighters arrived to find flames but managed to get it under control within a half-hour and searched all floors, including the basement.
Damage is estimated around $80,000, but the cause remains unknown. There were no injuries.
The occupant of the unit where the fire started is being assisted by the Red Cross and the Salvation Army.

Nelson Street fire leaves one person homeless
BY KRISTY NEASE NOVEMBER 8, 2011
One man has been displaced from his home on Nelson Street in Sandy Hill after a fire broke out in his unit early Tuesday night.
The call at 442 Nelson St. — a two-storey, multi-unit building — came in at 6:19 p.m. after a fire broke out in a one-room apartment unit on the first floor.
Twenty-six firefighters in seven rigs were dispatched to the building near the Somerset Street East intersection. The fire was knocked down in about five minutes and the situation was under control by about 6:40 p.m., a fire department spokeswoman said.
No one was hurt. The displaced man was receiving assistance from the Salvation Army and the Red Cross.
Firefighters estimated the cost of the damage at about $80,000. An investigator was brought in to try to determine the cause of the blaze, and that investigation was ongoing Tuesday night.

NEW DELHI: Buddh International Circuit, which played host to India's first Formula One Grand Prix on October 30, has been awarded the 'Motorsport Facility of the Year' award at the Professional Motorsport World Expo 2011, held in Cologne, Germany.
Boris Lazaric, COO Construction, Jaypee Sports International (JPSI) collected the award on behalf of JPSI on November 15.
The other contenders in the category were Baltimore Street Circuit, Mugello Circuit and Phoenix International Raceway, but BIC emerged as an unanimous winner.
Speaking on the occasion, Manoj Gaur, the chairman of JPSI said, "This is a very proud moment for us and it feels great to be acknowledged for the hard work that made the inaugural Indian Grand Prix at BIC a resounding success.
"I would like to congratulate my team and dedicate this award to every member who worked tirelessly in making BIC a world class racing facility," he added.
Gary Anderson, a member of the PMW Expo Awards judging panel said, "Over the last 10 years we have seen many new F1 circuits created around the world, most of these to an excellent standard as far as the overall facility is concerned but lacking imagination when it comes to the actual circuit design.
"Buddh International Circuit has gone the other way and created an excellent circuit layout, which the drivers, engineers and spectators love. With adequate facilities to put on a great event, it will mature into one of the best."

On October 30, 2011, F1’s newest showpiece event took world championship motorsport to India for the first time. The venue was the spectacular new Buddh International Circuit, part of a multi-sports complex being built on the outskirts of New Delhi. Regular F1 architects, Tilke designed the track for owner Jaypee Sports, with high speeds, close racing and good spectating in mind.
The organisers were rewarded with an impressive raceday crowd of 95,000 and praise from the F1 community.
“Many new Formula 1 circuits created around the world are to an excellent standard as far as the overall facility is concerned, but lack imagination when it comes to the actual circuit design,” commented jury member Gary Anderson of Status Grand Prix. “Buddh International has gone the other way and created an excellent circuit layout, which the drivers, engineers and spectators love. With adequate facilities to put on a great event, it will mature into one of the best.”

So, 2012 will see fight for championship b/w Legendary champion Schumi, his erstwhile teammate Kimi and 4 other World Champs namely Alonso, Button, Hamilton and the Vettel.

The meeting confirmed the 2012 FIA Formula One World Championship calendar.
The inaugural Indian Grand Prix was held on October 30 this year and the event turned out to be a huge success at the state-of-the-art Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.
Until Wednesday's meeting, the 20-race calendar had been in doubt but the United States Grand Prix at a new circuit to be built in Austin, Texas, has been confirmed as well as Kingdom of Bahrain's race, cancelled this year due to civil unrest.
Bahrain's Sheikh Abdulla Bin Isa Khalifa is a WMSC member after Jean Todt gave him the presidency of the CIK, the karting commission, a statement from the world motorsport body said.
A number of other Technical Regulations and Sporting Regulations decisions were also taken in the meeting, which is a part of the ongoing FIA Annual General Assembly being held from the first time in India.
An eight-leg rally event for 2012 was also confirmed as well as 12-event FIA World Touring Car Championship calendar.
Among other important decisions, Austrian F1 champion Gerhard Berger has been appointed as the new president of the FIA Single-Seater Commission as current president Barry Bland is stepping down.
FIA president, Todt, opened the meeting by thanking Force India Formula One team owner Vijay Mallya and Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) president, Vicky Chandhok for their hospitality and for hosting the week of FIA meetings in India, which will conclude with the prize distribution ceremony and gala dinner on Friday.
The WMSC will meet next on March 9 in Milan, Italy.

mihir1310 December 11th, 2011, 07:20 AM Vettel collects Formula One’s biggest prize
After a year of triumphs Sebastian Vettel’s closing reward came at the appropriately-named Kingdom of Dreams in New Delhi, India, host venue for this year’s FIA Prize Giving Gala on Friday evening.
The 2011 FIA Formula One World Champion collected the coveted trophy from FIA President, Jean Todt, while Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner was presented with the 2011 Constructors’ Trophy by Bernie Ecclestone. Jenson Button and Mark Webber also received awards for second and third places respectively in the drivers’ championship.
“It’s great to be here in India at the FIA Gala to collect my second Drivers’ Championship Trophy,” said Vettel. “I have had the trophy in my house all year and didn’t want to give it back, so this means a great deal to me. It’s hard to put into words how it feels to win again; the team stayed focused and made few mistakes and I would like to thank them for all their impressive efforts. I would also like to thank Renault who worked so hard all year. The history of Formula One means a lot to me and it’s special to know that we are now somehow a part of that.”

The FIA GT1 World Championship’s global expansion continues with the announcement of a new venue for the conclusion of the 2012 season.
After the winter announcement of the initial dates for 2012, including long haul races in China, Argentina and the first ever world-class motor sport event in Russia, the calendar for the coming season is rounded out by the final round in India, at the Buddh International circuit (BIC).

rajesh81 April 24th, 2012, 07:34 AM NEW DELHI: Delhiites, gear up for more speed thrills. After Formula One, the national capital region will soon host MotoGP and Superbike World Championship - the two premier international motorcycle-racing events - and the FIA GT1 sports car racing.
While India will be the last stop for GT1's 2012 season with a race in December, it is likely to host the first race of the Superbike World Championship, or SBK, next year, in the first week of March, an official of Jaypee Group, promoters of India's first F1 track, said.
MotoGP is expected to be held in March 2013. "We want to accommodate all of these races, but India has only five months of good whether when they can be held," Sameer Gaur, managing director and chief executive officer of Jaypee Sports International, said. All the races will be held on the 5.14 km-long Buddh International Race Circuit in Greater Noida that the company built last year for India's first Formula One race held in October.
Unlike the F1 race, where all rights except for tickets rested with F1 promoter Bernie Ecclestone, Jaypee Sports will hold TV, online and radio rights as well as on-track sponsorship rights for GT1 Championship. In the case of Superbike World Championship, or SBK, Jaypee will have 70% share of the revenues, outside of tickets, with the rest going to race authorities FGSport. For MotoGP, though, Jaypee may get only 30% with the lion's share going to race promoters Dorna Sports.
"We are currently negotiating with MotoGP on the terms and revenue share," Gaur said. Jaypee had spent more than $400 million to build the racing track, infrastructure around it and for the F1 licence fee. "It will still take 3-4 years to break even, but if we manage to bring in more events quickly, we might be able to do it faster," Gaur said.
Buddh International Race Circuit has been generating revenues after the F1 race five months ago through various track events being organised by corporates and auto companies such as Ferrari, Yamaha, Hyundai, Toyota and others, including Cannonball Club, a group of owners of super cars such as the Bentley GTC, Lamborghini Gallardo 560-4, Maserati GT and Aston Martin Vantage S. Jaypee Sports charges between Rs 8-10 lakh a day for the entire track.
The track will have ten days of F1 in a year and the rest of the year will be used for other races, corporate events, concerts, and also large international and national exhibitions. While the races will be held between October and March every year, exhibitions will be held during the monsoon months as well.
"We are negotiating with a large mining equipment exhibition and also an equipment manufacturing exhibition to bring them here," Gaur said. It is also in talks with CII to shift the Delhi Auto Expo to the track.

InfraNerd June 9th, 2012, 07:44 PM Buddh Circuit to host Superbike World Championship in 2013
http://www.ianslive.in/news/Buddh_Circuit_to_host_Superbike_World_Championship_in_2013-387017/SPORTS/9
Buddh International Circuit (BIC) owner Jaypee Sports International Saturday confirmed that the race track will be hosting a round of Superbike World Championship (WSBK) in March 2013.
Jaypee Sports International (JPSI) and Infront Motor Sports (IMS), the promoters of WSBK, have inked an agreement to hold the race at BIC March 9-10.
WSBK, a top notch motorcycle racing series, comes to India in the wake of a successful organisation of the maiden Formula One Grand Prix last october. The grand finale of FIA GT1 Championship will also be held at BIC in December.
"We are extremely happy to announce that besides F1 and GT1, we will also hold a thrilling motorcycle race. There are many who are passionate about bikes here. I am sure they would love to watch the best bike drivers in the business compete against each other," said Jaypee Sports International managing director Sameer Gaur in a statement.
Teams of bike manufacturers such as Ducati, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Aprilia, and BMW are part of the series regulated by the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), the international governing body of the sport.
On WSBK coming to India, IMS chairman Maurizio Flammini said: "After meeting with the promoters (Jaypee), I got the feeling that I was dealing with highly professional people even though the circuit was under construction.
"This impression was confirmed from the outcome of the F1 race last year. We are sure that WSBK will add value to BIC, as well as to India."

Jaypee Sports International Ltd (JPSI) and Infront Motor Sports have signed an agreement to hold World Superbike Championship at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) in Greater Noida on March 9-10 next year.
"We are extremely happy to announce that besides holding the Formula One and FIA GT1 motor racing series, we will also hold a thrilling motorcycle race. There are many in India who are passionate about bikes. I am sure they would love to watch famed motorcycle drivers compete against each other here at their own world class racing circuit," Sameer Gaur, JPSI MD and CEO, said in a press release.
Teams of renowned superbike makers such as Ducati, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Aprilia, and BMW will take part in the championship, regulated by the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), the international governing body of motorcycle racing.
"We are sure that the Superbike World Championship will bring added value to BIC, as well as to India and vice versa . It will also deliver value to all the automobile companies supporting and following our Championship, a very important opportunity to expand their brands and business in Asia," Maurizio Flammini, Chairman of Infront Motor Sports, said.

Greater Noida: After the thundering success of the inaugural Formula One Indian Grand Prix, the teething troubles notwithstanding, the organisers at Buddh International Circuit (BIC) are making sure they addressed all shortcomings of last year.
Barely five weeks from the Oct 26-28 race weekend, the circuit and the surroundings look spic and span with all the picturesque fresh monsoon greenery.
The teams and drivers were clearly allergic to the dust and haze last year and that has been overcome by planting over a lakh of saplings in and around the circuit, which looks a lot prettier now.
BIC owners Jaypee Group are conscious of the fact that they have to live up the benchmark they set last year. The curiosity and frenzy was at its peak as motor sports' biggest spectacle was happening in India for the first time. The race, won by reigning champion Sebastian Vettel, brought close to a lakh of people to BIC unmindful of nightmarish traffic snarls.
"The challenge for us is to make life that much more comfortable for all those flocking to BIC this time around, though the curiosity will naturally be less compared to last year. The feedback from teams is encouraging, they are eagerly looking forward to the race," Askari H. Zaidi, Jaypee Group's senior vice-president, corporate communications, told IANS.
Most of the renovation work, including building a permanent structure in the top tier of the pit block, was complete by March. No broken tiles are visible around the venue and sanitation work is also complete.
Not much was needed to be done to the 5.12 km track, which got every driver's overwhelming approval. The height of the kerbs at turn 7 and 8 have been lowered keeping in mind Felipe Massa's accident in the qualifying and race.
"The track is in top shape. The surface holds good. Nothing has changed from the first edition. I can't wait to drive in my second home race here," HRT's Narain Karthikeyan told IANS after testing the new MRF Formula 2000 car at BIC Monday.
For the spectators, the main hassle was reaching BIC. But the organisers promise a smooth ride for the commuters this time around.
"The facilities have been perked up. We had not anticipated the number of people last time. The number of shuttles from Knowledge Park, Noida Metro Station and other main pick up points will see an increase from 2011," said Zaidi referring the doubling of buses from 100 to 200 besides the extra land for parking near Knowledge Park. That will increase parking to 10,000 vehicles as against the existing 4,000.
While around 30,000 tickets for the 99,384 capacity circuit have been sold so far, Jaypee has introduced Paddock Club passes to woo high-end buyers, costing between Rs.1.5 to 2 lakh.
"We are getting a good response for the Paddock passes from leading corporate houses. The ticket holders will have the advantage of taking a pit lane walk. And it also costs less than the corporate boxes," said Zaidi.
The training for 820 marshals has also begun and stage is set for the race.
"The Championship was decided going into the 2011 Indian GP, while this time its wide open. We wish the standings are decided here," hopes Zaidi.

Sunday 28th October 2012
Yes, you can say that the 2012 Indian Grand Prix was a tad boring. Despite the extension of the second DRS zone, the Hermann Tilke hex was at work again. Overtaking wasn't as easy as it was thought to be and the single biggest factor therein, the tyres didn't really degrade much.
In a free-wheeling chat after qualifying on Saturday, Paul Hembery (Pirelli's motorsport director) said that the Buddh International Circuit could do with a more abrasive surface. And after the race on Sunday one can almost see why. This season we have seen some mad-dash racing as concerns the tyres. One-stoppers have been made to work out positions of advantage but towards the end of the season, teams have really learnt how to make the tyres work. The races are no longer of attrition and the Indian GP is a fine example.
The option compound here, the one with yellow bands (also known as softs), are the most commonly used tyres throughout the season. It is quite understandable if all teams have worked out their favourable working conditions, no matter the kind of track. Hence we did not see any difference in race pace for the front running teams. That was significant, for the ones who started further back, could not take advantage of the prevalent minimalistic degradation. Romain Grosjean started on primes and changed to options, and could not finish higher than ninth. It makes you wonder if using super-softs (the ones with red bands) for this race could have changed things.
they could do 30 laps in softer tyres and all cars single pit stop :ohno: make the circuit so that they have to make 2 pit stops. there were good overtakings though. they can take care of all that next year.
Abinash89 October 29th, 2012, 08:25 AM Boring! The first half was full of twists and turns.Just loved the overtaking by Alonso and the contest between Massa,Hamilton and Raikkonen. It was fun to watch.

Why break a sweat over what they think or don't think? Let's get our houses in order, build infrastructure, improve our country's economy and work together. Barking dogs will keep barking. But those who work while others sleep will reap the sweet rewards of success. :) We are still a poor country and we cannot afford to forget that. I am myself a journalist and I know that the poor are not at all represented in the media world. As affluent guys sitting in front a screen we should not be insensitive to the poor. :) Let's not be embarassed; we have a long way to go.
Abhishek901 October 30th, 2012, 06:25 PM abhi how much have the surroundings changed this year?
Outside the circuit, it is still dusty. In fact parking lots are not metalled so whenever a vehicle enters it creates a lot of dust. Inside, it was better than last year. Washrooms were cleaner. Picnic stand was greener.
Shuttle bus drivers were as clueless as last year. Anyways, that's common with every project in India. We focus only on the main part but forget the secondary parts that's why we see mess everywhere.
Also, there was 2 km long jam on the Noida-Greater Noida expressway starting at the exit point for Yamuna Expressway (point zero). First I thought it might be an accident or police might have erected barricades in middle of the road for extra security for race. But when I reached point zero, I realized it was because of a faulty signage on the expressway. The signage for Yamuna Expressway (Agra / F1 circuit) read left and one needs to take the exit from left side for Yamuna Expressway. But between the signage and the exit, there was another small exit for service lane of the expressway and people thought it is this exit they need to take for F1. Traffic police personnel at that service lane exit were guiding vehicles to go straight and then take exit from left but this slowed down the traffic and led to massive jams on a highway which normally has thin traffic.
You will get a better idea with this satellite image.

Abingdonboy November 2nd, 2012, 03:04 AM When watching the race I noticed in some of the overhead shots that the large car-parks were not tarmaced-they were purely a dusty bit of land. This has got to be rectified.
As Mr Abhishek901 noted, it is the minor details India somtimes struggles. It is no good spending 100s of Millions for all the work to eb undone by trying to save a few 100,000. For example I noticed the EMS units at the track looked pretty poor- same old FORCE ambulances (most not even the newest face-lifted ones) and the outdated TATA 1616 fire trucks.
Somthing like this would have been better:
http://www.instablogsimages.com/1/2011/07/27/traumahawk_sprinter_ambulance_xywlk.jpg
http://static.commercialmotor.com/big-lorry-blog/indyacfire3.JPG
What is particularly annoying is that both these are already operating in India! And these things only cost a tiny amount when compared to the entire cost of operations and building the circuit!
Another thing that really needs to be worked on is ticket sales and attendance. Throughout all the coverage I saw here in the UK the poor attendance was focused on too much. Considering the population of India it should not be a huge problem selling 100,000+ tickets. Otherwise this great track will be written off with the likes of Korea,Turkey and China where attendance is pitiful and a constant bugbear for all drivers/fans/teams.
holaindia November 2nd, 2012, 06:13 AM Another complaint I have is about the shuttle buses , I went for the Grand Prix last year and found most of those shuttle buses inside the circuit area used for shuttling in a very bad condition ( they could have borrowed some DTC buses, the low floor ones), The drivers had no clue whatsoever about the circuit and circuit officials could have atleast dressed the conductors and drivers in proper uniforms. The buses could have been made BIC style with some temporary stickers. All those 'Modi','sahil','sheetal' buses were lame. I don't know if anything's changed this year though.
And does anyone know if bats in the Media box news that circulated in the foreign media during last years grand prix is true , no Indian news channel reported that so I am suspicious that the foreign media officials made that up .
gentem November 2nd, 2012, 07:05 AM Maybe asphalting car parking lot will reduce dust, hope they will address it next year. Even motogp can come here but nobody cares that as there are no overtakings and stands will be empty. picnic stand has too high a fence, instead they can go for double fence but shorter in height :ohno:
seems they have watered track well this time, here is nytimes pic to reduce dust settled on race track :)

holaindia April 18th, 2013, 05:34 PM Korea international circuit took hardly 77 million dollars to build. Why the hell did it take more than a billion dollars to build this one ?
jaadu April 18th, 2013, 11:02 PM It is impossible to build such a huge circuit from scratch at that cost. Actually the cost of land would be more than $77 million. I think the cost of KIC is either wrong or it is only for the refurbishment of a existing circuit ( I think KIC is new through) ..
