Yeah it's the Grand Lisboa - you should see it at street level though - it was renovated recently and it's like a giant LCD panelled Faberge egg. Amazing to see at night.

^^All the new Casinos in Macau are amazing. They make the places in Vegas look like the Burswood in comparison. Look at the photos of the Venetian in my HK Jan 2008 thread linked below - absolutely amazing.

Telstra exchange is a practical building... it houses delicate equipment that cant have exposure to sunlight. Maybe if it looked like the pics below it i would think that would look better, a change in colour perhaps is all it needs?or the city. However maybe a colour scheme like the pictures shown below it might be in order perhaps?

the only thing with the pictures is how the last post constantly oves down as the pictures expand.

it would be such an easy setting to have the spaces "set" and then filled as they download.

so you can just scroll to the bottom and not have it drop away from you for like 5 minutes!

From a footballing perspective he was a rather dour coach... and Mich didnt do anything either... the NSL was a shit league and we payed better money so that is why we were better...

winning is one thing, having interested investors/owners is another, a coach with a personality is something too... but also the cash and money to buy players to get the results is another...


oh and anothe rthing the FFA fail to realise... MARKETING... advertising almost spam like will get people aware that they actually play games! :lol:

That's what they replaced the trams with although for a long time they competed with the trams. The trolleybus network in perth was more extensive than the tram network ever was. It went through Mt Lawley, Inglewood, Mt Hawthorn, Leederville, Claremont, the City, Floreat, East Perth, South Perth, Como and Wembley. They ran from 1933 - 1969. I posted a map of the network on a thread somewhere a few months ago.

ok i decided to take a look at what perth could look like if we included some of the current theoritical proposals which are out there. they are the treasury building, ABC studios and the redesigned 210 adelaide tce, now these are each close to what height we have heard rumoured but none of them are garunteed to go ahead looking anything like this.

looking at this we just need some massive 250m proposal on the old A block of RPH and we would have an aesome skyline which would also look 3d, rather than having it on the terrace.

Those buildings down below look dilapidated, the fronts are usually nice, but the rears are never the same.

They was taken from about the third floor of the Mantra on Murray (formerly Pacific International). Whenever I stay there I try and find someone cleaning the rooms facing Murray St so I can get some pics of Raine Square directly opposite the hotel (crew always seem to have rooms facing the City).

Anyone who works in the City can probably get good views of the City from their buildings that most of us don't have. I wouldn't mind seeing people posting some of these too.

At least they provide some cheap inner-city housing. Better they stay there than some developer buy the land, demolish them, run out of finance and leave them as vacant lots for years.

there are actually a lot of unused upper floor spaces thruout perth. they arent right for offices (no aircon plus a few other issues) and i remember reading a while ago that it should be leased out cheaply to artists or others who need cheap working space that is basic etc. i think it would be a great idea. i remember reading earlier this year about a big space for lease maybe on murray st, and if im not wrong it was at about $150-200/sqm which is ridiculously cheap at the moment.

At what point did I suggest that you (or anyone else) had to be involved in "going through dozens of people's photos"?

What I was thinking was that anyone who was interested could pick out some of their own best to contribute to a sort of 'library.' Any future stand-out shots could be added as they are taken.

No doubt there's also thousands of repetitive/uninteresting/crappy snapshots in the mix that few people would ever care about. I'm not advocating a databank on the scale of Google- just a collection of interesting ones capturing Perth's look and feel (good, bad or otherwise) at different points in time.

in prep for the UWA thing on Tues I was looking for some more photos for my ppt so i am asking if people could dig through their photo archives etc

Theres heaps of great pics on here which I will be using (please let me know if the use of your photos is not permitted) however i could really do with some more on

- traffic in perth, particuarly in the suburban context
- urban centres in perth such as mt lawley, leederville as well as crapholes like osborne park
- streetscrapes in an average suburban context ie local box shopping centres, bus stops etc etc
- whatever else you may think is relevant!
