One thing I noticed when I was in the US are presence of outlet malls usually low-rise. One example would be in Barstow, CA. right between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

In HK, we have one outlet mall but its medium rise. Its Citygate which is in Tung Chung right near the airport.

How about your area? Are outlet malls very common outside your city? Are they also popular in other continents?

There are several outlet centers outside of Atlanta...they are primarily one or two story buildings in a "village" type setting. There is no push to build for density when the development is 30 miles from the city - which is where outlet centers are usually located for the less expensive land. These are all in Georgia and South Carolina.

As you can see we actually don't have a lot of outlets in The Netherlands, luckily :)

Mills Corp built a lot of malls (indoor ones) located in suburbs, all called ______ Mills. All Mills malls (and other owned shopping centres) but one in the US (Vaughan Mills in Canada) were sold to Simon Property Management.

Branson, Mo (pop. 6,000) has the most outlet stores I've ever seen.

Factory Merchants Branson (90 stores)
Shoppes at Branson Meadows (40 stores)
Tanger Outlets (60 stores)
Branson Landing (not really an outlet mall, 100 stores)

I know one major one outside NYC where during last years Christmas season many foreigners from around the world came, while the dollar was declining. It has 220 stores.
