City of Life November 14th, 2003, 01:01 PM huge!!! but old````
Jaroslaw1a November 16th, 2003, 12:00 AM Wow, that first one is the best. Now I see HK for the first time!!!
What is that patch of yellow at the middle/bottom of the island, on the coast, on the left side of the first photo? It's too big to be a beach, right?
City of Life November 16th, 2003, 02:34 PM it's the Cyberport!
www.cyberport.com.hk
HKT November 16th, 2003, 04:32 PM Thank San Miguel for the pics.:)
Sorry, I have to borrow San Miguel's pic to do some explaination....:D
First Picture.
http://gpb.no-ip.com:8245/natransit/HK/HKIslandAerial_2 copy.jpg
1. This is The Peak. There is a visible path around The Peak that many people spend their time relaxing around with the skyline....
2. As City of Life mention, it is the Cyberport.
3. That is the Happy Valley Racecourse.
4. Aberdeen. There are many boats here including the Floating Restaurant.
5. Ocean Park with cable car line.
6. Deep Water Bay - 7. Repulse Bay. There is a jogging path linking the two beaches.
Red dot. Central Bus Terminal. One located near 2IFC, one in Exchange Square.
15, M49: New World First Bus (NWFB) line. 15 goes from Central to The Peak and M49 goes to Cyberport.
6, 61, 6A, 6X, 973: City Bus (CTB) line. 6, 6A, and 6X are routes connecting Central and Stanley whereas 61 terminates in Repluse Bay. 6/61 both go up the hill but 6A/6X take the Aberdeen Tunnel. 973 is the only line linking Stanley Market and Tsim Sha Tsui across the West Harbour Tunnel. There is also a 73 route that runs the same as 973 but it terminates in Cyberport instead of going to Tsim Sha Tsui.
Second Picture
http://gpb.no-ip.com:8245/natransit/HK/CWB-Aerial copy.jpg
8. Hong Kong Jockey Club HQ.
9. Times Square.
10. Victoria Park.
11. Ex-Kai Tak Airport and its runway.
12. Wanchai Stadium.
Third Picture.
http://gpb.no-ip.com:8245/natransit/HK/Central1 copy.jpg
13. Hong Kong Zoological and Bootanical Garden.
14. Ex-Governor House
15. Peak Tram station is located in this St. George's Building. Across Garden Road from St. George's Building is the US Consulate.
16. Hong Kong Park.
Enjoy:)

_00_deathscar June 21st, 2006, 06:06 AM Wow that's an old pic.
They haven't started working on the Mandarin Oriental yet :D I liked the old look of that hotel better.
Also, the Ritz looks class.
Skybean June 29th, 2006, 12:11 AM Didn't know where to post this one, so I'll place it here for now.
I think the HKCEC is pretty well lit. Not tacky in my mind. I like the strips of colour.

_00_deathscar June 29th, 2006, 08:05 AM Yes but those strips are golden - they look nice
Some times they are pink which just looks out of place.

-anti-alias- December 7th, 2006, 02:56 AM This is a wallpaper that I made a few months ago, was posted in spanish sub-forum. I guess it has an error crediting the photograph (the little text in the wallpaper, it says Skylego), now I am pretty sure that the author was Skybean, please confirm this mate ;) thank you.

HKpride December 8th, 2006, 02:03 AM Hi HKPride, do you have a higher resolution version of the wallpaper you posted? It looks awesome :) .
I have a 1200 x 1024 verison... (the original pic was only 1200 x 601)...so that is the best resolution I could do in photoshop without losing its quality.
btw, the original pic belongs to someone from pbase. sadly I don't remeber the link. thus all credits go to the photographer!

what sort of racist comment is this? So everything linked to UK is better?
_00_deathscar February 5th, 2007, 05:23 AM This is one of my favourite;
1) It shows a more 'classy' side to the usually glamourous HK skyline
2) Even the HK Cultural Centre with it's bland and boring facade looks quite good in this

You NEED to speak better english, big time. 1997, btw, if you're referring to the handover. I believe, though, that without the British influence on Hong Kong's development, it would never have been the city it is today, so no good to imperialism, but props to the UK for colonizing HK, in this case, it helped HK.
This is one of my favourite;
1) It shows a more 'classy' side to the usually glamourous HK skyline
2) Even the HK Cultural Centre with it's bland and boring facade looks quite good in this
Yea, this is a good shot to highlight one of the more prominent landmarks of HK outside of the Island. The cooler overall tone and lack of vibrant colors that we usually see on HK scrapers give it a good, more solemn look.
Skybean March 2nd, 2007, 05:26 AM HK Tourism updated their panoramas:
http://xs513.xs.to/xs513/07095/2323.jpg
http://xs513.xs.to/xs513/07095/86233h.jpg
_00_deathscar March 2nd, 2007, 07:13 AM They need to hire a better photographer...that first panorama is awful ~ IFC2 looks short and pudgy.
bleedingOrange March 2nd, 2007, 09:50 PM don't know if panoramas should be in wallpapers...but am gonna add mine anyway, tis bighttp://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c1/474454/largefei.jpg
Skybean March 2nd, 2007, 10:26 PM Oh my goodness! That is the single greatest panorama I have seen at SSC...
That pano deserves a thread of its own in the international Cityscapes & Skyline photos section.
bleedingOrange March 2nd, 2007, 11:47 PM cheers, you should see the original.... 15780 x 2372, it's massive!!
gladisimo March 3rd, 2007, 06:12 AM ^^ any way you can post something 1/4 to 1/3 the size somewhere? =) anyway, where did you take it from? it looks like the mountains (Big Old Mountain, I don't know the proper english name)
the tourism pano is very ugly, everything's so squat...
bleedingOrange March 3rd, 2007, 03:53 PM 1/4 to 1/3 of the original size? i dont know any websites that'll host large photos. I took it at Jat's Incline (扎山道)
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c1/474454/IMG_3721.jpg
a private mini bus seems to drive people up there if you want to visit, i went by foot from the choi hung MTR.... 3 hours walking in the sun:ohno:
Skybean March 3rd, 2007, 08:01 PM That must be the world's greatest urban vista. The pic posted above is approximately 900k in size, should be able to post a bit larger (up to 1.5mb)...this is the view that I always look for, to have it in such clarity is very rare.

Cotechino March 22nd, 2007, 07:55 PM @bleedingOrange: that big panoramic pic of yours is really impressive. I've never seen Hong Kong in that way. It gives you the idea of the town and the harbour.
XCRunner March 30th, 2007, 01:04 AM This thread has some really awesome photos, but for someone I can't see a whole bunch of them... but the ones I can see are good... real good.
