I had this game ages ago and it kicked ass, does anyone know if Chris Sawyer (or anyone else for that matter) id developing a new version? Traffic Giant just didnt have the same buzz.

Also, what about suggestions for a new version? I think bridges need to be allowed higher than one square above ground/water and different graded roads should be introduced and rail stations to be allowed more than 4 platforms.

There is some german transportation game that is kindof interesting. Mobility is its name (http://www.mobility-online.de/ ), but what you do is lay bus and train routes, decide the headways, and such. You also have control over parking lots/ramps (implementing technology aides to make more efficient), build shopping malls, and other various things.

It was fun to play around with... no sim city or TT.

Yes, Transport Tycoon is awesome. I'd love to see a new version.

I haven't played it for quite a while though. I should see if I can make it work on WinME....

I am actually still running Win95 here, and have Transport Tycoon deLuxe installed. This is THE best game I have ever played!
With regards to features, I'd say dinp has some good ones. Better airports (that can handle more traffic) would be usefull.
The deLuxe version has four types of environments, normal, North American mountains, South American rain forest an desert and Loony world. Much fun, with different industry types, vehicles etc. Great great great game

Its the best game ever.Better than Simcity4 and other new games.I used to have it years ago but have misplaced it.

Where can I get this game on the internet?

There is a way to run XP in a "compatibility mode" that allows you to run legacy software, but I forget how. On my old PC (before this recent new one), I had several old versions of AUTOCAD running on XP that way. A programmer friend helped me out, and I don't remember what he did.

Well i'm about to inherit an old computer from my mate whose just treated himself to a new one, so i'll use this one purposely for old games, like Theme Park (original) and TTDLX. I did get TT working in XP, but it was in a window, couldnt be made full screen and wouldn't scroll smoothly, but this old PC should fit the job nicely. Any further developments on a sequel?

Kroy Wen
May 28th, 2004, 01:05 AM
A sequel for TT is being made, it will be called Locmotion. It will be released sometime in September

EDIT 6/15/04: go here for some screens: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/cslocomotion/screens.html?page=7 looks like the concord will hit those buildings :) EDIT

I loved TT, I always made my own scenarios which was good in that you could create the ideal conditions ie big cities with a space demolished in the centre to build a large airport, you could move the time up to 1965 too which was handy. Problem was that it was too easy if you made you're own scenario. I'd like to try and develop a normal level but alas it won't work on XP :(

Suggestions: faster bridges to cope with the fastest trains and better HQ designs. Also stations with more platfroms, i really struggled on one level with a lack of platforms, great challenge though getting everything to work. :)

check this out:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/openttd

It's an opensource XP compatible update on TT Deluxe. You need the TTDLX data files to run it tho, so as not to break copyright :)

It's got lots of new things in like bigger stations, longer trains etc etc. Go have a play

Great game, I'm still playing it at this moment. I used this site to get it running under Windows 2000 in full screen mode.
http://ttdlxhq.raysworld.ch/page/index.php?action=down
The 10,4 MB version works perfectly, only some new features are partly German. The patch is also integrated. About copyrights: What's that? Yeah, Swiss people are great! :D

I think Locomotion is crap.... i love TTDLX!!!!

I bought Locomotion, hoping that it would be better than TTDLX - I mean it should be, it is easy enough to play and more versatile than the old version, but it just doesn't feel right, the excitement isn't there :(

Feels like a rip-off of Rollercoaster Tycoon really.

Great game, I love it, since I learned to use a PC I play that game and simcity, and I still have it and run ir over XP and works fine, This weekend I saw the game LOCOMOTION in a store and I see the legend "Chris Sawyer presents" ...
And the transport giant, sucks

The TTD is abandonware now?
I´m gonna buy the locomotion, It´s very cheap to try, even for my pesos :P

TTdlx is one of my all time favourite games! I like especially to work with the trains. Big maglev trainstations in the city-centres. Maglev trains to gather livestock, grain, wood, coal, iron ore. Maglev for all the transport...

It doesn't work properly on my computer right now. :(

I used to play this game SO much. Loved it!
The TTD patch also improved a lot of this, ran perfect under XP and gave you the ability to have 7x7 tile stations. also added heaps of new graphics and made the AI a little less retarded.

Seriously, all the screenshots of locomotion look crap! the graphics just look really poor and 'fuzzy', even old TTD looks better!
