From the front ,it is the condo with the red protusion where the water tank on normal blocks are..

At night ,you can see the powerful beacon swinging and a small anti-collision beacon on the roof.

The lights from the apartment blocks would be bright enough to alert any ship! Why the need for a lighthouse there? :)

Because the beacon is much more powerful than the apartment's lights. Can be seen further away.It is to guide ships in the East Coast ,not prevent them from running into it!;)

Actually ,the Bedok Lighthouse is very amazing at night.Very bright.

You can see the light from the ground ,the flyover beside it or East Coast Park.No need to be at sea.

I always see a lot of ships parking outside the East Coast. Maybe it is a designated anhcorage area outside the port? Hence the Bedok Lighthouse

Looks so cool, like a school of fishes:cool:

I will try to find some pics to show what I mean.

It was on Fort Canning Hill ,then it was one of the highest structures above sea level here. The light would be very clearly seen from the harbour.

Btw ,there is a 2/3 replica of this lighthouse at Raffles Terrace there. What makes me wonder is why not make a exact replica?

erm..where is Sultan Shoal located exactly?

Off Jurong Island.

Now JI had blocked it's east side, and the Tuas reclamation would block it's west side.

This is the one that rises in front of my hometown ^^
It is named Cordouan.
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/cordouan/Fond.JPG

Height 68m, I don't know if it makes it taller than Bedok's one, but I have to say I prefer its design ^^

Building of the first lighthouse began in 1584 and ended in 1611. Later on, the lighthouse was rebuilt, keeping the 3 lower stories. It was finished in 1789. It stands on a rock 8km away from land, and can only be accessed by boat when the sea level is low. The light can be seen 40km away.
