The capacity will amount to 34k at the option standing on the new podium. New "żyleta" will have the possibility of increasing the capacity by folding seats.

November 16th, 2008, 05:11 PM
Yes it will be 31.800 fully seeted. But with an option for polish league games to be larger due to standing places.

With this visual, I'm honestly more worried about the distance between the 1st row of the lower tier and the field... It honestly looks like 15-20 meters... I need to stress that it would be absolutely terrible if it would be the same on the real stadium... Hopefully, only a small mistake when the visuals were being made...

It's too much. Average distance beetween stands and field is around 6-10 meters. According to UEFA regulations this minimal distance behind the goal is 7 meters. There's twice more in Warsaw.

Usually around 0 degree and rather rainy (or wet, melting snow).

0 degree on average? Not so cold as I thought. That's quite unexpected considering Poland is located in the northern part of the planet.

Well... let's say that is on average during the past few years... But we still get quite extreme cold such as -20'C or even -27'C as it was in the eastern part of Poland last week...

In the stadium's condition before the reconstruction, the west stand had only one tier. The reconstruction leaves the west stand with two tiers. In the second phase, will the second tier be built atop the first or will the west stand be completely rebuilt?

PiotrG

West stand will be comletely rebuilt - from the old podium only a elevation will be save, because it's monument.

Shame they haven't angled the seats near the boxes, gonna be a lot of restricted views on either side.

Looks lovely though, nice design, should be great to watch a game there. Lets just hope they can keep the pitch in the same fantastic condition.

From what I know it was an add-on pushed into the stands just to fulfil UEFA's requirements, which - from what I recall - have changed just around then...
This would be a reason for it not to fit. And let's be honest - there's no way JSK would design something like this from the start, I don't think they considered a log like this in the initial design.

PS: to someone from the moderating staff, preferably Sercan - the capacity is officially 31 103 seats, so if you could change it, it would be nice. Of course that's no revolution, but it would be more precise.

one year of construction

A year of construction works in 10 minutes!

Yesterday Legia celebrated a year from the moment when construction works started at the new stadium with the first crane entering the construction site. Within these twelve months, the contractor, Polimex Mostostal, built three stands, replacing the famous “Żyleta” tribune and two curved tribunes.

First of all, the contractor knocked down the old parts of the stadium and disposed of the debris. In January they started to build the frameworks of the new stands. Day by day, the huge cranes installed new poles, bolts, treads and roof beams.

We invite you to watch an exclusive 10-minute video dedicated to the most important moments of the construction works at our stadium – from the voting of the City Council to the current works.

Enjoy it! (http://legia.com/www/index.php?akt=11250)

Hi, some of you probably won't like what i have to say but...As far as I know this stadium costs ~100mln euro, right? So no offence, but this stadium looks really #$%^&...let's just say it could be muuuch much better...I mean 100mln euro is alot of money...I'm disapointed...Design could be much better tho..But it's not finished yet so...

about 40-45% of this money would be spent on the main stand. I don't know if you are talking about visualisations or latest photos from the construction site. If photos, then cost of what you can see now(3 stands) is about 60 millions euro.

Some of news about this stadium (in polish).
http://www.sport.pl/pilka/1,65029,7281221,Co_16__widz_na_nowym_stadionie_Legii_ma_byc_ViP_em.html

Every sixteenth person on stadium will be VIP. The cost of suite on stadium (for one season and for ten people) will be between 45k euros (price on Slavia Prague stadium) and 70k euros (price on Austria Wien stadium). So possible is cost of suite on Legia stadium will be about 50k euros, of course better location of suite on stadium = more expensive price. On the stadium will also bussines stand, cost of one seat on bussines stand on Slavia and Austria stadiums are about 1,5-3k euros.

What are you talking about? The first row will not be 2m higher than the pitch. Look at the pictures again, the height is perfect in my opinion. The stand has to be a little higher than the pitch so the people sitting in front rows can see better.

When will this stadium be open?

Three stands that are actually under construction were started november 2008 and they are scheduled for 18 months. After completion (may/june) second phase will be initiated - demolition of old west stand and building a new one. Second phase is to complete in next 8 months...

Possibly my favourite of the new stadiums being constructed in Poland right now.

It reminds me a lot of Sparta Prague's stadium (Letna?), only a more polished and modern version.

I dont know what crest do you mean.
This is the proper and historical crest -
http://danclough.files.wordpress.com/2007/07/legia-warsaw.png
Actually Legia has two sets of colours - red-white-green and white-black. (the second comes from this (L) which is sometimes also used as a crest).
Players always played in white-black kits (excluding 80s), but historically the club is associated with green colour as a colour of army where Legia has its origins.

Is it the colors of Italy? Was it founded by soldiers from legionary army, who fought in Italy during WWI?
For example: Czech had also legionary army in Italy.

It depends. When the situation wasn't as silly as now (because of management's foolish moves) and the stadium capacity was about 13.000, the average attendance oscillated about 9.000 - 11.000.
Now, supporters are fighting against club owners (and vice versa), capacity is about 4.500 and the attendance looks sad - circa 2-3 thousands.

To give the better view of situation: about 3.500 Legia's fans visited Vien on away match a few years ago. That shows how big potential they have, but the situation has changed enormously since these days...

Well if both sides will finally grow up and decide to end the conflict then I think 20-25k at each game wouldn't be a problem.
