I'm for Vuvuzela, even thought I believe drums will be better. Vuvuzela keeps the atmosphere buzzing but its irritating when one blows it in your ears.

By the way, the openeing ceremony will only be for an hour, so I heard on radion 702 yesterday and 30 minutes after the kickoff will be on.

Simple is best, but since we're almost on time with most of Europe, what time do you think it will start? Im for a night time ceremony! Soccer City will look amazing in the dark

If other african countries want to get exposure, they should sponsor. No free advertisement! This is a South African World Cup.

Come on Briker, imagine Zim being a sponsor. The will have to spend fvkcen Ziga-triliion of their dollars and no bank in this worl will accomodate that.

I wouldn't be encouraging anyone to go there in the first place with the state that country is in to be honest.

Akon is to record the official anthem for next year's soccer World Cup.

The 'Lonely' rapper has been asked by Fifa (Federation Internationale de Football Association) to co-ordinate the song as well as music for the opening ceremony at the South African tournament, which starts next June.

He said: "I've been hired as musical director for the World Cup. I will be overseeing the World Cup anthem and music at the ceremonies and I'm off to South Africa this week for meetings.

"I love soccer so it's a great honour."

However, Akon - who says he will be supporting the host nation in the world's biggest soccer event - won't be following in the footsteps of other artists to record soccer songs by asking players to sing

There was a song that featured Karen Zoid, Arno Carstens, Fokofpolisiekar, Kabelo and a few others. It was too chilled to be an anthem but all those different voices and styles worked very well.

I'd also had prefered that it would be a South African. But being the choice an international artist I think they chose the right guy, for I love Akon's music.

I remember france 98 world cup anthem sang by another senegalese singer Youssou N'Dour that song was the best opening ceremony song ever....Akon got a nice voice and he will do a great job.

We got talent here in Mzantsi, why don't they use it. A collboration between African artists would be best and it must a real African song more than being Hip-hop/ or R&B like song.
