Casamor was just giving his opinion about Sama dubai and the project .
he was also mentionning that the Duabi towers in casa were cancelled and that we should not trust the annoucements of Sama Dubai .
last point he said that for Dubai the modernization goes with the construction of new towers building so many towers gives an upstart and ugly look to the city ^^
leetroy October 2nd, 2008, 01:58 AM i dont think this project is good for Tunis it will roan everything i like tunis as it is know

Well it s on the south lake of Tunis in the old harbor that is not used anyway..
It will give to Tunis a waterfront, a golf course , marinas green sapces everywhere ( look at the masterplan) and amazing opportunities for growth !
It is a big changs but at least the tunisian governement did not decide toi demolish the existing construction and replace them by this me ga project . It s land that has been taken from the lake after they depollued ( took almost 20 years !!)
-Corey- October 2nd, 2008, 02:38 AM En inglés por favor!!!, anyway, i think it has a nice design, i'd love to see one of those towers here in San Diego :(
CasaMor October 2nd, 2008, 02:42 AM ...some parts of Dubai are ugly! Tunis's project looks amazing! :)

SAMA Dubai are going to have a tower in Melbourne designed by Norman Foster. Not sure if it will carry the Dubai Towers brand though. Anyway, this an awesome project for Tunis :okay:
AltinD October 2nd, 2008, 12:05 PM he was also mentionning that the Duabi towers in casa were cancelled and that we should not trust the annoucements of Sama Dubai .
Oh great, so now it's SAMA's fault that local authorities don't honor their own part of the bargain, as it is happening also in Istanbul. :ohno:

Stephan23 October 2nd, 2008, 04:27 PM ........Dubai Towers Hinterdupfing........
Momo1435 October 2nd, 2008, 09:54 PM Before you the whole "Middle East*" will be Dubaified, I think that's a good thing.
* I know, technically Tunisia isn't part of the Middle East, but you get the point.
CasaMor October 2nd, 2008, 11:35 PM Why not! They have a lot of money, they must share! haha
Dan Hochhaus October 2nd, 2008, 11:58 PM Looks like Africa wants to feature in the skyscraper boom, too... the tallest highrises on this continent are still from the 1970's (Carlton Centre Office Tower, South Africa, 222m). And Tunis seems to have no important highrises at all so far.
Now this here is not about a planned single landmark, it's about a massive project like a whole new city... the cluster around Daubai Towers is only a part of this - watch that skyline to the right with twin towers, that remind me of Emirates Towers and could also reach to supertall height:nuts:. Here the inflationary "brand name" fits well: Dubai Towers. Nice design btw, following the trend of tall curved glass towers.
So will Tunis really go Dubai and look like this in 10 years? I have some doubts, considering the US-banking crises, and maybe this plan is just a hype. But let's see what happens...
Densaga October 3rd, 2008, 12:17 AM En inglés por favor!!!, anyway, i think it has a nice design, i'd love to see one of those towers here in San Diego :(
Nice to see that some people confuses French with Spanish ...
Nice towers for Tunis , hope they'll really be built.
//
Félicitations à Tunis pour ces projets.

Well actually I honestly believe that Tunis's skyline is by far the best in the Maghreb ..as far as density Height etc... Nothing to be proud of but when you compare it with Algiers or Casa that hold almost the double of Tunis population it gives you an idea of the potential of our real estate market

Now back to the topic :
Well yes it s part of a massive project that will cost up to 25 Billions US ..
The Med Gate is the biggest investments of an Emirati real estate company outside of UAE and will take up to 17 years ..
now the whole project is handle by the SAMA ECH wich is a joint venture between sama dubai and EC harris.
regarding the masterplan it s typically a Sama dubai project ...very similar to the Lagoons for instance . But a portion of the project will offer houses for the middle class too wich is a very good thing .
the Tunisian government made a lot of efforts and sacrifices to get this kind of project and there is a demand in the South med area ..
for the towers there 3 towers according to the CEO of sama ( back in march ) two twin towers of 80 flrs very similar to the emirates towers indeed and another one for mix use of 50. Now the master plan was approved in July of this year by the Tunisian government and they asked for two major modifications ; the design should respect the cultural heritage of Tunisia and second : offer houses to the middle class . In return the Tunisian government will build a bridge to connect the whole project and will take care also of the new Transit system
The project will be one of the major attraction of the next Cityscape in Dubai according to sama dubai again so let s wait and see^^^^

Well the real estate market in Tunisia is booming and the actual financial crisis has not affected our economy for one reason ,the virtual market does not exist so we did not have the speculations that occured in most of the western countries ...

Tounsi October 22nd, 2008, 03:42 PM Sama Dubai, the international real estate investment and development arm of Dubai Holding, today announced the opening of its Marketing and Sales centre for the US$25 billion (AED95billion/TND31 billion) Mediterranean Gate project, developed in partnership with the Tunisian government in the capital city of Tunis.
Located on Republic Avenue (Z4 Road) at Saint Gobain, the Marketing and Sales centre will provide potential investors with a preview of the landmark development, allowing them to gauge first-hand the magnitude of the project that is expected to infuse fresh economic opportunities and facilitate the growth of Tunisia’s tourism and allied sectors. The centre will remain open from 3.00pm-8.00pm daily.
The Tunisian Government approved the masterplan for the Mediterranean Gate project where infrastructure work has been progressing since December 2007. Scheduled for completion in 14 phases, the development is designed to host international firms, premium luxury hotels and leading retailers as well as a diverse range of residential buildings and recreational and sports facilities.
Developed by Sama Dubai, Mediterranean Gate shares the vision of the Tunisian government for an inclusive, all-encompassing city, which will open doors for new companies, services and projects to further boost Tunisia’s diverse economic sectors.
Farhan Faraidooni, Executive Chairman of Sama Dubai, said: “Mediterranean Gate will be a unique project, designed to reflect the integrity of its landscape, culture and heritage. It will cater to all sections of the society and represent a benchmark for sustainable development in the region when completed.
“The launch of the Marketing and Sales Centre marks the next phase of development for Mediterranean Gate which is already registering progress in infrastructure works. The centre will initially showcase the crucial components of this ambitious project, ahead of the first sales release around mid-2009.”
Mediterranean Gate will be fully integrated into the city of Tunis and include demarcated residential districts, commercial and leisure segments, a central business district (CBD), waterfront resorts, marinas, a golf-resort and shopping malls. The project is being managed by Sama-ECH, a subsidiary of Sama Dubai and a joint venture with one of the top global project management companies, EC Harris.
Mediterranean Gate is anticipated to drive job creation, employing about 350,000 people and attracting over 100,000 visitors every day. The development will also serve as a hub for IT and service companies seeking Tunisia’s qualified and trained manpower

The E.N.D October 31st, 2008, 12:28 PM Very groovy project, when will it be completed? One thing that bothers me though,is the term "Africa's tallest building".It seems to be thrown around a lot by different projects around the continent.First,it was the Nigerian project, next was the Sandton tower and now this one.

I Totally agree it s like the race is on . As fare as I know at this moment the only approved and on going project that could claim to be the tallest building in Africa is this one ...
Scheduled completion date : 2015-18
meanwhile I guarantee you that another project will come u and claim to be the next tallest tower in Africa . Wich is a good thing in some way , we need more postive and productive competition in Africa !
