I think you mean "Puerta Bilbao", its not really in Bilbao, but its in the metropolitan area (in Barakaldo town (the second largest city with 100,000 inh))

There has been some problems, first of all, they present an horrible tower and the major of the city decline to do that in his city, so they had to make a new proposal.

But during they were making the new proposal the company was near the bankrupt and two saving banks had to buy the lands of the project and know these banks say that they will continue if there was a higher density.
So now they are doing the new proposal with higher density (but its suppose that the tower will still going to be 150m high but with new design)

One of them would be chosen by a jury. Garellano (dark red) its in the Southwest part of the city, near San Mamés stadium (orange), Basque Public University (dark blue), future San Mames Stadium and Basque Public University expansion (in purple and where old stadium is), Basurto Hospital (light red), Main bus station (yellow), Basque television headquarter (green) and not so far from Zorrozaurre plan (light blue).

the last 3 proposals are the best. Rogers Stirk is my favourite one, although the MVDRV one is kinda cool looking, but only one high-rise.

Some more news are that the winner of Garellano's urbanistic plan has been Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners (the height of the towers are wrong, they are 30m less so only the tallest one would be +100m). Now each architect group that has participate will desing each tower of the urbanistic plan
And some more news are that Zaha Hadid will design the future BBK saving bank headquarter in Zorrozaurre masterpan (her urbanistic plan) that it will be like 20 floors tall.

La presentación de las conclusiones del estudio encargado por fomento se podría dividir en dos partes bien diferenciadas:



La infraestructura de transporte en sí misma: Línea de Alta Velocidad y la Estación Intermodal de Abando que la acogerá. Centrándonos en el segundo de los puntos:

Proyecto Urbanístico sobre la playa de vías

En cuanto a lo que se refiere al Proyecto Urbanístico que propiciará esta integración ferroviaria: se pretende que la venta de los terrenos edificables liberados con el soterramiento financien en parte la operación. Parece ser que ese aporte económico no será suficiente para sufragar toda la operación y que las instituciones deberán hacer sus aportaciones para que este macro-proyecto sea posible.

Sobre los terrenos liberados se construirán viviendas, oficinas y zonas comerciales. Se crearán nuevos viales que conectarán El Ensanche con Bilbao La Vieja y se ganarán amplios espacios abiertos para la ciudadanía.
Las zonas edificables serán: la más cercana a Hurtado Amézaga y la pegada a la Calle Bailén. En estos terrenos se concentrarán la mayor parte de los nuevos inmuebles, además de los vestíbulos de la estación que se ubicarán junto al actual edificio de Vialia que será conservado con su mítica vidriera.

Todavía hay que esperar a que se concrete un proyecto para la estación intermodal y, posteriormente, se defina un plan urbanístico por parte del Ayuntamiento de Bilbao pero las presentadas serán, básicamente, las líneas maestras a seguir. Se espera que para el año que viene el conjunto de tramos que componen la "Y Vasca" esté en construcción y que el TAV llegue a Bilbao en 2014 conviviendo los trenes con las obras que transformarán por completo Abando al menos hasta 2016.

Se trata de 3 nuevos edificios que se construirán rodeando el futuro Estadio San Mamés y que, junto con la actual Escuela de Ingenieros, compondrán el Campus Tecnológico de San Mamés. Son los siguientes:



La actual Escuela de Ingenieros Industriales, que se mantiene sin variaciones. (Construido)
Nuevo edificio de las Escuelas de Ingeniería Técnica Industrial y de Obras Públicas y Minas. (En Construcción)
Nuevo edificio Polivalente de Telecomunicaciones y Audiovisuales. (En estudio)
Nuevo centro de I+D+I y Biblioteca (En Estudio)



Por ahora, está en obras el primero de los edificios que aquí os muestro. Los otros dos comenzarán a construirse una vez el Athletic se haya trasladado al nuevo estadio y el actual San Mamés haya sido derruído (:() 2017, mínimo. Aquí podríamos seguir la construcción de este edificio y los futuros edificios.

Se encuentra a 15 o 20 minutos del centro de Bilbao en le barrio de Boroa de la comunidad adjunta de Amorebieta-Etxano que esta todavía dentro de la zona metropolitana de Bilbao Bizkaia.

Scheme and Conditioning Factors

A complex of 3 buildings and landscaping destined for R&D+i in the Automotive Sector.

Two of the buildings are intended for use as Development Units (halls) with laboratories and small-scale production.
The third, the Main Building, houses research units of various companies in the automotive sector, a laboratory (for common projects among the resident companies) and the social block of the complex, comprising: main lobby, auditorium, training classrooms, classrooms for projects in cooperation with universities, and the offices of the centre’s management.

The site was flat when the project was drawn up. The landscaping plan for the industrial estate has strongly altered the original topography. Due to the reduced height limit permitted on the estate, and the elevated ground level of a large part of the site boundaries, the roof of our buildings has a great visual impact. In addition, the presence of a large Combined Cycle Power Station beside the East façade has to be added.

This research centre has nothing to do with a Technology Centre as far as usage is concerned. A Technology Centre is run by an institution and provides services. The AIC was born from the idea of it being the same companies as set up the complex that have their own research spaces in it, but that there are other spaces for projects carried out jointly with them, and the management is a mix of both public and private.


Compositional Solution

The Development Units are set in isolation for functional reasons and for future versatility.
A triangular landscaped area articulates the space between the Development Units, the Main Building and the spaces reserved for future expansion.

The complexity of the main building’s facilities is unified under a large silver aerodynamically-shaped roof inspired by the bodywork of prototypes and racing cars.

The main building is composed of two fundamental parts: the social area, set around the main lobby; and the area for R&D projects.

In the transverse section of the R&D area, the functional layout is understood in the solution that has been given to the problem of the confidentiality of the activities in the centre (those specific to each company and those shared with others). Continuing from West to East, we have the garden, a landscaped fold in the terrain generating a patio alongside the façade which we call a “burladero” [literally “the barrier behind which the bullfighter takes refuge in the bullring”]. It is serves as a screen so that small machines can be installed for the laboratories of each company without any visual impact. Company laboratory downstairs, offices upstairs. Continuing at the ground floor level, an internal access “street” with the laboratories off it, for the companies one side and on the other side those in common. Above it, at the first floor level, a passageway fulfils the same service for people to access the offices of the companies. And finally the area of the shared laboratory, the highest enclosed space in the building. The lower parts of the roof are reserved for future “units” of the shared projects. At the end, the East façade is designed like a fold of the roof down to the ground, negating the presence of the combined cycle power station.

The “street” is covered in order to reinforce the image of unity the centre wishes to convey; not to mention the advantages in standing up to the Vizcaya climate, as well as facilitating the control of some habitually untidy spaces (the accesses to any premises, full of boxes and rubbish that “aren’t anybody’s”).

The social area is planned at the head of the building. A large lobby facing South forms the end of the internal “street”, surprising those entering it. Some huge glass doors make this connection possible: a car can get in as far as the lobby (for presentations of new models, prototypes, etc). The training areas are integrated into an aluminium box: an auditorium downstairs, training classrooms upstairs.

The management is located in the most aerodynamic element of the roof: a fold inspired by the air intakes of racing cars. It facilitates a generous access porch and gives the centre’s management to have a commanding view of all the facades.

Urban Insertion

The complex is located on an industrial estate away from the urban nucleus. The design strategies have been geared, on the one hand, to making the building visible from the bordering motorway (the aspect of the South facing lobby), and on the other, to avoiding the constant view of the Combined Cycle Power Station from the work spaces. This is achieved by orientating them towards the West, where a garden provides a rest for the eyes, something that is atypical on such an estate.

The triangular garden articulates the space between the Development Units, the Main Building, and the spaces reserved for future expansion.

Constructional Characteristics

Special care has been paid so that the necessarily elevated number of outdoor machines and equipment that a centre of this type needs, have the least visual and acoustic impact. To that end various patios have been planned, both let into both the façade (“burladeros”) and the roof (see transverse section). The solar panels are installed over the roof patios, contributing to that idea of concealment.

The structure is of steel at the head (social area) and prefabricated concrete in the rest. The facades are of kalzip and curtain walling.

Ya han comenzado las obras del gran complejo deportivo de Leioa, el que está llamado a convertirse en uno de los proyectos estratégicos más importantes del municipio.

Tras años de recursos judiciales, parece que el fallo del concurso para la construcción del polideportivo ya es firme. El ganador del mismo es Joaquim Pujol, uno de los arquitectos más famosos a nivel mundial en lo que a arquitectura deportiva se refiere.

Hace ya un par de años el edificio que albergaba la Residencia Reina de la Paz en Sarriko fue derruido. Databa del año 1975 y no es que fuera un inmueble especialmente atractivo. Contaba con 11 plantas y una capacidad para 325 usuarios. En principio, no hablamos de la típica construcción que tiene todas las papeletas para ser derribada pero, al no cumplir la normativa del Gobierno Vasco en esta materia (las habitaciones son 90cms más pequeñas de lo estipulado en la norma), la BBK decidió tirarlo abajo para levantar un edificio de nueva planta.

How is it possible, that there is so much of good architecture in so small city? :applause:

I hope there will come also the "Bilbao effect" in Bratislava. We have a project by Zaha Hadid announced, so we will see :)

^^The municipality has only 355.000 inhabitants (its surface is very small, happens the same with Paris or Barcelona) but the city itself comes close to 1 million and its the most important city of the north Spain and one of the most important cities in the country.

Hoy es el primer día de los más de 700 empleados de Idom en su nueva sede bilbaína. La empresa ha aprovechado este puente para hacer la mudanza desde sus oficinas de Lehendakari Agirre a su flamante inmueble de la ribera del Canal de Deusto en San Ignacio.

La UPV ha presentado su Plan de Inversiones e Infraestructuras hasta 2015 que alcanza un valor de 146 millones de euros. Entre otras muchas inversiones, en el documento se presenta la que será la más importante de ellas: un nuevo edificio junto al Hospital de Basurto que albergará la nueva Facultad de Medicina y Odontología y la Escuela Universitaria de Enfermería.

Visesa ha adejudicado a Varquitectos las dos primeras torres del proyecto Bolueta. Tras casi una década de retrasos por muy diversos problemas, el Gobierno Vasco ha fallado el concurso para el diseño de los dos primeros edificios que se levantarán dentro del Plan Especial de Rehabilitación Integral (PERI) de este barrio bilbaíno. No es una adjudicación cualquiera, se trata de dos rascacielos de 20 y 28 plantas de altura. La segunda, con 95 metros de altura, se convertirá en el residencial más alto de Euskadi hasta que se construyan los edificios de la Operación Garellano.

El Puente Levadizo sobre la Ría para la línea de tranvía que unirá Sestao y el campus de la UPV en Leioa. Durante el año pasado ETS adjudicó a Arenas y Asociados el diseño del puente que unirá ambas márgenes de la Ría a la altura de Lamiako. Ahora conocemos el diseño final del singular viaducto gracias a las siguientes infografías de Renovatio·

Pese a que, en un principio, se creyó que el proyecto había sido adjudicado a Manterola, finalmente, es Arenas y As. quién ha realizado diseño del mismo. Recordemos que este estudio será el encargado de diseñar también el puente que una Deusto y Zorrozaurre a la altura de Botica Vieja y que también es el autor del Puente Giratorio de Lutxana, proyecto parado desde hace casi una década por la Diputación Foral de Bizkaia.

The BBK Sarriko Centre is a residential building that combines two different uses: retirement homes and social flats for young people. The design had to be flexible and able to accommodate changes throughout the life of the building, since the client wants accommodation for young people to be the predominant use of the building in the future.

El proyecto Urban-Galindo de Barakaldo es, sin duda, uno de los más representativos del cambio que ha experimentado el Bilbao Metropolitano. Estos terrenos ribereños del municipio fabril fueron unos en los que, durante el siglo XX, se levantaban las enormes fábricas y chimeneas de la que fuera la empresa más importante del país: Altos Hornos de Vizcaya.

A finales de 2011 os mostrábamos el proyecto de IMB para la nueva sede de Naturgas (http://bilbaoenconstruccion.com/2011/12/06/nueva-sede-de-naturgas-energia-ecodiseno-por-imb-arquitectos/) en el antiguo centro farmacéutico de la Calle General Concha de Bilbao, edificio catalogado como de Protección Básica por el Plan Urbanístico de la ciudad. Esta catalogación de edificio histórico ha obligado a mantener las fachadas del mismo vaciando completamente su interior para volver a construir un inmueble de nueva planta basado en el ecodiseño. La inauguración oficial del mismo tuvo lugar el pasado mes de Abril de 2013 tras una inversión de más de 17 millones de euros por parte de la compañía energética.
