This arena should be able to attract a CHL minor league hockey franchise, that is if its built with hockey in mind.

^^ I think the arena is designed for basketball. They probably have to take out a chunk of seats from one end to fit a hockey rink.

Thats why the student section is retractable, same sort of set up as Conseco Fieldhouse or the Bobcats arena for hockey

I asked someone about it a few weeks ago and I was told even with the student section retracted, it still wouldnt fit a hockey rink or arena football field.

I haven't read any news about an ice plant, so I guess no ice hockey. But she appears she will be a wonderful basketball arena.

I can't wait for it to be finished so I can go tour it! And seriously....all tickets for the Eagles sold out in 75 minutes! That's awesome to hear.

Why would they build an ice rink when they have Mediacom's Ice Park next door?

I was at the Q last weekend for the 25th annual bass pro tournement of champions, some condider it the best annual high school tournement in the country. They had 8,000-9,000 per game including D-1 coaches Bill Self & john calipari and some of the Indiana Pacers in attendence.

My phone camera isn't that good of quality but I took this pic.

The 5 year old arena is about to get a $3.7 million renovation. The project includes a new exterior entry off of Monroe Street on the south side of JQH, team locker rooms, player lounges and meeting rooms.

There also will be offices for the men's and women's coaching staffs, a state-of-the-art, audio-visual system and associated athletic training room, reception area and storage space.

I'm most curious about what the new audio/visual equipment will be, possiblely a LED ribbon board between the upper/lower decks.
