These seems to be old. There are a lot of new buildings and new roads currently under constructions. Not far from Luano (Airport) there is new development which include: modern shopping mall , office park and residential complex.

Thanks,

Mulopwe

I didn't realise they honoured this guy, only in DRC!
The Lunda tribe does (Which is Moise mother's tribe). whereas he is despised by Lubakati.

But yea. only in this country. they even put a little monument of him there.

Lubumbashi seems well kept, Moise keep up the good work

Lubumbashi has always been kept clean. this isn't just Moise's work. its the people. Even when you goo to Likasi, Kolwezi, these cities are cleaner than Lubumbashi. Even Goma, Bukavu, Kisangani, Butembo, Matadi, Mbuji-Mayi are all clean. just some missing asphalt one most roads.

It seems , Kinshasa is only very dirty city (due to the massive population that sells everything on the streets).

Street vendors are way too many and Kinshasa is over crowded. They need to stop people from selling on the streets. If everyone was in the markets . Kin will be clean like it used to. just a little order. take them street vendors of the streets.

The Lunda tribe does (Which is Moise mother's tribe). whereas he is despised by Lubakati.

But yea. only in this country. they even put a little monument of him there.

How can those guys praise a snake, a traitor? I couldn't give a .... if the guy was my brother, you just cannot sell out and be honoured for it. Both Kongos' peoples have a long way to go to recover the pride and confidence that it will take to develop, have you seen the whole Brazza monument/museum in Brazzaville? :ohno:

Whilst Kinshasa's street vendors may add to the problem the underlying fact remains that none of the state utilities functions like a normal city, that is the root cause of it all. The street vendors are victims of a corrupt and incompetent system from the top down, we cannot blame them for trying to live when otherwise most of them would be in school.

Kinshasa is just a big disgrace but I don't want to derail this thread by going on and on about my birth city.

This year, the binmen of Amsterdam went on strike for just a little while and check out the pictures of how Holland's premier city was beginning to look, imagine this neglect over a much longer period of time and you have Kinshasa.

He is popular for being one of the pro independence leaders and 1st Black Governor of Katanga.

However; Lots of Lunda people (Moise Tshombe and Katumbi's Tribe) like him because of what he did for the country and the province during struggle for independence.

But the thing about independent Katanga , he was just a Belgian Super Puppet. Because after he had Katanga independent , LubaKati (led by Jason Sendwe) didn't want to stay part of Katanga, so they declared that their Seccession from Katanga and wanted to remain Part of greater Congo:lol:. In this group, (That where Mzee Kabila came out) .

Hence why You hear and see Jason Sendwe streets, Hospitals, schools after him.

The real hero here is Jason Sendwe who fought to preserve 1 Congo.

But let the Lunda people celebrate their here as well. Not that they have more impact than Lubakati who make up (70% of the province).

Thing is. Jason Sendwe (Though Lubakati) is a National here for keeping Kongo one nation.

Tshombe is just a here t Lunda people.

Rightly said Buddy, but how can they build if they're ignorant ? how can they change if Nobody has told them ? And How can they adjust if it seems fine to them ?
Sorry for the questionning, what I meant was just a dirty house will look clean to its inhabitant until he/she pays a little visit to his neighbour's and see how clean it is.

WE HAVE TO BE VERY AMBITIOUS IN LIFE OR ELSE NOTHING WILL EVER BE DONE.

NB: The old pre and post MOBUTU generation HAS TO GO GO GO... before we see a change in the CONGO.

PS: AND congo has to RECALL his Children...DRC has to Recall his genius children from all over the world to BUILD IT.

I wouldn't say ignorant, Lubumbashi Center will be upgraded soon after Luano City completion. I think we can keep Lubumbashi Center as it is, (Old Lubumbashi with colonial architecture, because, first it's not big and second ,we preserve the story of the city (Tourism).

:bash: Hello Mate, I reply to your posting because you seem to be posting a lot of intersting stuff, especially pictures... thanks for that man.

I was in L'shi in year 2000 on a very brief stay, but I didn't like it as the city is too dusty. A simple walk down the street wearing a white T-shit can be very humiliating as you can end up with a brown one.

The only area I reckon is nice is the only near Gecamine.

There also a very nice little river (stream) by the "camp lido"...nice for a pick-nic
But I managed to pick up a couple of green stones as a souvenir.

Belles photos, l’ecclesiaste.

Let's look at this way, Lubumbashi offers a lot of opportunities in Katanga, Maniema and Kasai therefore MOST of the opportunists from Maniema, Kasai and other parts of Katanga can be found in Lubumbashi. Most of the people from Kin who have an ambition to go South Africa always go to Lubumbashi first then SA. Some of them end up going to South Africa and some of them end up staying in Lubumbashi. Kin has about 9 million people, those people are from different parts of the country and it can be the same with Lubumbashi.

With that we can reach about 4 million of people.

Yes i know there are people from all over the country. Thats not my point though.

My point is; I'm not going to be convinced that Lu'shi jumped from 1.9 million to 4 million in just 2 1/2 years. That doesn't even happen in China , let alone in Congo.

I would make an estimation in december. If DRC has 65 million people it makes more sense for Lubumbashi to have at least 4 million people since its the second biggest city in the country and one of the 25 fast growing cities in Africa.

Katuba is huge, it has grown. But then maybe that is bit to much but to say less, alot of people reside in Katuba. Alot, I know a doctor building a hospital there he gave an estimate on how many people reside there. Plus Katuba is a huge commune. People were flooded this year. Still pisses me off how a stadium is priority over canals in neighborhoods that are prone to floods. Say it again the FUCK FACE that parted the red sea Chapwe needs to quit.

Dear Forum Members,

WOnder if someone will be able to assist me.

I am looking for current construction rates in Lubumbashi, to enable me to price a document, as I have no contacts in the relevant city, I have decided to logon here and ask for assistance.

Please could you either private me should you be able to assist or could you recommend a Quantity Surveyor or contractor that can help.

I look forward to your replies.

Thanks

The only problem with Lushi roads is the lack of sidewalks. Pedestrians are forced to walk on mad or to share the road with cars... I never got why they don't think of that! I saw the same problem in Nairobi: nice roads with no sidewalks!!!
