The 50-story 1700 Pacific Avenue tower is flame-finished in carmen red granite and has smoked-glass windows. The tower's top portion consist of a series of setbacks angle-wise that vary in length on both north and south sides. At ground level the base of the tower along with the lobby which is lit by three-story atrium are also situated at an angle, therefore facing the corner towards Thanksgiving Square. The building occupies about 50 per cent of the site and is set back allowing for a park-like plaza. Free-flowing fountains parallel the main entrances to the main lobby retail shops and restaurants. The underground pedestrian tunnels connect the building to other nearby buildings such as Republic Center and Bank One Center.

The building itself looks a bit stubby, but I like the top :)

The 'sliced tower' concept is interesting and the colours of the blue windows and red granite combine well. Not bad at all, certainly not for Dallas.

The colours work well here, and the building has some features that add texture to the facade, like the vertical indentations running along the height and the setbacks at the top and base.

8/10. First time after so many other Dallas buildings I've rated to get a decent sore. 1700 Pac Ave has some decent setbacks. Looks like Trammel Crow (with the chopped off head) but better looking

Looks a bit dated.

Interesting form, but nothing spectacular.
