it's better to compute how many people will each jollibee store serve....say divide the total no. of stores to the city population (the least)... so kahit kaunti lang ang store but the store-to-customer ratio is high.

yup...Pineapples are grown in Bukidnon but are processed into juices, slices, tidbits, etc... in Cagayan de Oro...

Slers Ham is really CdeO's product and also Pines Ham...

It's just i'm on a strict training regime and i have some people here in the UK to motivate me a lot. Unfortunately for my great friends in CDO, the only exercise they tend to get is lifting bottles of beers to their mouths, hehehe. It's very hard to work out by myself and getting motivated to keep up my regime. Any help would much be appreciated.

D.A., other govt agencies work to put nationwide program in place

TO detect the dreaded avian influenza (AI) or bird-flu virus, the Department of Agriculture (DA) will set up an early warning system in barangays and communities nationwide.

The DA said in a statement the Community-Based Early Warning Systems (CBEWS) will be established in high-risk areas where the probability is high for people and poultry to contract the virus. CBEWS is part of the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) Avian Influenza Protection Program (AIPP).

In a report, Director Davinio Catbagan of BAI said Barangay AI Task Forces would get orientation sessions on bird-flu through the program. Members would also be familiarized with the reporting process for humans and poultry suspected of carrying the bird flu virus and the possible smuggling of poultry and exotic birds in their locale as part of the workflow under the CBEWS.

“Trainings and workshops are being conducted to familiarize [veterinarians] on the proper collection, handling, storage and submission of tissue and blood samples,” Catbagan said in the report to Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap.

Catbagan said the BAI would also put in place an applied veterinary epidemiology training (AVET) program to strengthen the capacity of field veterinarians at the local level.

The program aims to help communities design and manage disease surveillance, conduct outbreak investigation and put to work outbreak containment measures.

The program will be coordinated, with the Office of Civil Defense through the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC), and established in regions to ensure local government units (LGUs) have respective plans in place in the event of an outbreak.

Catbagan reported the workshops would also educate LGUs on the use of 5 percent of calamity funds before, during and after an AI crisis. The workshops are being replicated at the provincial and city levels, he added.

“Besides these measures, surveillance is done in the 20 critical areas as well as in other parts of the country every six months, especially during the migration season of October to February,” he said. “The DA is also continually upgrading the capacity of our national and regional animal laboratories.”

“So far, 46,214 samples were tested since year 2005 and were found to be negative of the highly pathogenic AI virus,” Catbagan said in the report.

The DA is also helping LGUs ensure that provinces, cities and municipalities, especially those in the critical areas, have the four elements of preparedness—task force, local ordinance, preparedness plan and resource inventory—in place.

Catbagan said surveillance and preventive measures are also being established in airports and seaports to keep poultry and poultry products from AI-infected countries from entering the Philippines. The BAI would also confiscate and destroy unlicensed cargo.

The World Health Organization reported that as of January 31, 403 cases of the bird flu and 254 fatalities from the disease have been confirmed by laboratory results. The numbers pertain to the period since the H5N1 strain of the bird flu broke out in Southeast Asia in 2003 and spread across the rest of the continent and into Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

Earlier, the DA opened a new bird-flu laboratory in Zamboanga City, the second in Mindanao and the fourth in the country. The other AI testing facilities are in Cebu City, Cagayan de Oro and San Fernando City in Pampanga.

The DA said the laboratories support the work at the Philippine Animal Health Center, the country’s first diagnostic facility designed to identify the bird-flu virus.

A taxicab driver here in Iligan told me what a customer told him what he will do his ALtis back in Manila: Sell it. Kasi ginagawa lang daw taxi sa CdeO ang ALtis! At yung kanyang Altis sa Manila nilalagyan pa niya ng car cover :lol: Moreover, namangha daw ung customer sa mga taxi diyan sa CdeO kasi puro bago, di daw gaya sa Manila na dilapidated na halos makita sa daan. Ang sabi nga taxi driver, model daw ang CdeO taxi operators sa MIndanao kasi ni isang KIA Pride or KIA Avella na maliliit wala. :cheers:

i passed by this area last week, dako gyud ni nga Jollibee. Is the whole of 3 floors occupied by the food chain?

OT lang ha, the 13 Jollibees of CdeO is catered by the city alone and its transients. Gingoog, Bukidnon and Iligan are catered by their own Jollibee stores (3, Iligan; 2 in Bukidnon; 1 Gingoog). Akala kasi ng isa sa neighbors natin na ang 13 Jollibees of Cdeo is catered by the farther places in Normin (Iligan, Bukidnon, Gingoog) and that ang mga taga Iligan, Gingoog and Bukidnon goes to CdeO just to eat JOllibee. Di ata ganun ka ignorante ang mga taga Normin no!

let's stop comparing Cities na siguro...kse, honestly, we've got long ways to go before we even sniff the stature of 1st world Cities...I mean, Metro Manila nga 3 lines pa lang ang railway system, Davao and Cebu wala pa...cities from 1st world countries eh parang bituka na ang mga railways...yet, here we are pulling each other down. whachatink friends?

Yun din nakapagtataka, why do we have to compare each cities in the Philippines when each city or even each barangay have their own distinctive qualities. Medyo mahirap nga maghambing dahil each place always have its own pros and cons.

No matter how much we try to promote our city too on the outside, the moment they know it's in the Philippines, we are still going to be lumped as one so mas mabuti sigurong ang i-promote natin buong pilipinas nalang.

Well said indeed. Well said. These are the messages i had been trying to convey since the start of petty city quarrels Cagayan - Davao and now Cebu. I had to play devil's advocate for people to realize how tiring it is to make baseless accusations which nobody in their right mind would admit that each city no matter we were born and raised are different in so many ways. I am in no way a Cebuano, a Davaoeño nor a Cagayanon. The Philippine Islands in general is but a very beautiful place run by petty corrupt government officials in Manila. Until then, Our country will remain as is, and will be someday left behind by emerging neighboring countries like Vietnam. We are far more richer than Korea 60 years ago but because of our crab mentality which we display here in an ardent manner, (and i won't even deny i am one of them and so are you guys whether we like it or not) the Koreans are now coming here to invest in our country and most of them are trying to take advantage of our corrupt political system for their own good. They even manage to build a Spa in the island of Taal. Now think about it, we may be born and bred malay, chinese or with foreign blood but we cannot deny being a filipino. "Filipino First." Love our country first as a whole and not by region.

White water rafting ain’t only for whites


We no longer have a living memory of our once great river, south of the city. The Mananga River is a sorry shadow of her once powerful self. That’s why river rafting, much less, white water rafting is but an all but impossible dream for our local outdoor enthusiasts.


But, in Cagayan de Oro City, a mighty river still flows through. From that city comes the members of the Philippine White Water Rafting Team. They represented the country for the first time in the International Rafting Federation (IRF) World Rafting Championships in the Noriinchon River, Inje, Ganwon Province, South Korea, from June 26 to July 3.


This team of 6 paddlers and another 6 for support and managing crew emerged from the water 22nd in a field of 29 teams, besting the Danes, Croatians and Austrians with Brazil making the top and Japan finishing 3rd.


Team Captain, Romualdo Calampang, 32, says this was impressive for a team that had been cobbled together only a year ago and furnished with equipment that was simply Neanderthal compared to the space-age carbon fiber tailored to fit gear of their rivals.


With what could only be called typical Filipino sense of irony or humor, their main commercial sponsor is a Cagayan de Oro based company called SOTAR or State Of The Art Rafting.



Still, Chisum Factura, 35, Team Manager says that state of the art does not only refer to gear but also to grit. And, clearly, the Pinoy paddlers had some of that and more. Even with paddles that were made of ordinary aluminum and plastic, that were fit for longer reaching arms, they managed to turn in a creditable finish.


The team together with the local government of Cagayan de Oro City, also showed grit when they bid to host the international competition, which they eventually lost out to South Korea.


Possibly because of this, they targeted to beat the Koreans, who managed to escape a beating by only a hair’s breadth.


Next target is Bosnia, 2009, though there is no telling it will be the same team. But, certainly, the same team spirit.

^^at first glance, it really looks like one of the metro manila thoroughfares.

cdeo is a very interesting city for me. wide roads, stress-free, neat and green environment, nice cabs :D, friendly people.. kaya lang, 1 hour lang kme nakapaglibot dahil mahuhuli na sa flight back to manila.. :bash:

Yup! Mahal ra gyud siya, Bai... Gwapo man ang standard room sa Marco Polo Plaza sa Cebu... Naka-stay ko didto 3 years ago... Katong wa pa gyud nahuman ang renovation... I think dili local tourists ang target nila... Koreans man pud usually ga-stay sa hotel... :-)

A MINDANAO-wide business group said it will not support Alcantara and Sons Consolidated Resources, Inc. (Alsons) in its bid to put up a bioethanol processiong plant in Cagayan de Oro if the company does not adhere to environmental laws.

"We will not support Alsons if we find out that it is not practicing what we are advocating, said Ednar Dayanghirang, program manager of Sustainable Responsible Investments in Mindanao of the Mindanao Business Council, Inc. (MinBC).

All types of commercial undertaking -- big or small -- must observe sustainable and responsible business practices wherever in Mindanao, Dayanghirang said.

MinBC is an island-wide organization of chambers of commerce and trade associations in Mindanao.

While Alsons is a pioneer member of MinBC, Dayanghirang said the Davao-based company is expected to uphold its advocacies, which includes sustainable investments.

Earlier, Mayor Constantino Jaraula said Alsons and its Japanese partner have already agreed to relocate the proposed 24-hectare cassava processing plant away from barangays Bayanga and Mambuaya -- areas that are within the range of the city’s aquifer.

Environmentalists and other concerned groups oppose the plant site, fearing its wastes would pollute the Cagayan de Oro River, the two barangays’ water source and the surrounding environs.

nah ambut pud ug pwede ba masakyan. pwede man cguro pero pag labay nako ala mai driver, naka park lang xa infront dapit sa xu chapel. if u hav time, try to visit it today nalang and take pics of it. i just wish na unta e-jeep will be here in cdo for good. para ma-lessen ang tags sa cdo about its smoggy atmosphere. less pollution na dayun. para pud mu-complement sa atung mga altis taxis. y not dba? dat wud really be great. :)

Electronic Jeep is being displayed in cdo ngaun. wen i arrived in school ds am, i was surprised by the sight of what i saw on just newspaper and tv before. finally, it has visited cdo. too bad i wasn't able to bring my dgcam. can somebdy take a pic of it now? it's in xu ngaun. try to vct nalng sa skul.:)

nasa davao city yan e-jeepney early last year..gusto bentahan ang city gov...d kumagat ang mga konsehal...its a little bit expensive daw...almost half million saka ang problem ang recharging station saka daw kung bumaha ang street kung makakatakbo pa daw yng jeep......apat ang dinala dito ..nag test run...ewan ko kung matutuloy gamitin yan dito..thanks...its made in china yang mga e-jeepneys...

Layo ra bitaw pero in between ana mga bungtod man sab. Kanang picture nga gipost ni jsl_bxu common kaayo na sa mga kabungturan sa CDO labi na diha sa likod sa Malasag, Pelaez ranch ba na or Capistrano. Diha pod sa Agusan hills daghan sab mga bungtod nga ingon ana ang klase.




abi man gud nako nga du-ol sa convention center. kay kadtong didto ko pirme sa Taguanao bridge doing kayaking, mura man gud ug ing-ana ang hills.

i need to find out also kung ma-access ba kana diha, just south-west of the convention center, nga mga dalan para maka-adto me sa Bubunawan River kayaking put-in.
If you look at it closely naay mga road/subdivision, unya naay dalan next to Bubunawan River.
Kung dili pwede, then sa Kabula bridge nalang padolong San Vicente, Buk. and access...

If you’re looking for gift ideas for teens or gifts for children especially gifts for young girls and you’re near Limketkai Mall in Cagayan de Oro City, Northern Mindanao, then you might want to drop by this small yet pretty creative niche store called Teen Kingdom.

Teen Kingdom in Lim Ket Kai Mall, Cagayan de Oro City sells Hello Kitty and other Sanrio stuff. From keychains to sticker books to alarm clocks to pillows to robes to even headphones and computer keyboards, you can find these items there. Young girls, tweens and even not-so-young ladies who are fond of girly stuff, pink stuff, fluffy stuff, cute knick knacks (abubot) will have a field day choosing Hello Kitty items and other Sanrio stuff at Teen Kingdom.

I myself spent a good several minutes at the store just recently. Actually, I’m not fond of girly girly stuff but I do like abubots and collectibles so that visit was pretty cool. Check out some of the items I bought there (see picture here in this post) - I got a Hello Kitty mouse pad (P59), a Sanrio sticker book and coloring set (P99) and keyboard stickers (P189). I thought the prices weren’t so bad (do you agree?) I checked the labels and they were all apparently “Made in Korea.”

The Teen Kingdom store in LKK mall CDO is barely 2 months old, I think, but I’m sure it has already made a lot of girls (and parents, really, especially those who are at a loss on finding the perfect gift for their kids) very happy. I’m also pretty sure it’ll be a favorite place to shop for gifts especially since Valentine’s Day is coming up (they have a cute Valentine’s Day Hello Kitty alarm clock for only P99!). You can also find nice birthday gift ideas there - check out the Hello Kitty wallets, bags, towels and umbrellas. If you want to buy a gift for a techie, then she might want to receive a Hello Kitty pink keyboard or mouse.

Hopefully niche stores like Teen Kingdom can continue to sprout all over Mindanao.

nakasay ko before from cdeo to iligan and viceversa, tag120 ang aircon. hangtod nahimong 110 kay niubos ang diesel. about a month ago, niubos pa gyud sa 100. recently, naggubat ang super five og rural nahimong 30 nalang. Wow! pabor kaayo sa mga pasahero. naman gyud daw 50 units niabot ang super five mao gilugaw ang presyo sa rural transit. mao lagi pod taman ra pod iligan ang promo. lampas na sa iligan, balik na pod ang regular fare. mao pod daw nahitabo sa bukidnon kay gabyahe man ang super five didto
