The former president of the world’s richest football club was in the city last week to explore business opportunities in Northern Mindanao (Region 10).

Spanish lawyer Jose Ramon Calderon Ramos visited the Primavera Residences office where he and his son were hosted by Italpinas President and CEO Romolo V. Nati.

“He wanted to have a presentation of our project Primavera because of its pioneering and unique eco-friendly design,” said Mr. Nati, an Italian architect who heads the Italo-Filipino joint venture project Primavera Residences through Italpinas EuroAsian Design and Eco-Development Corporation.

Romolo Nati with former Real Madrid President Jose Ramon Calderon Ramon during a recent visit to the Italpinas office in Cagayan de Oro.

Mr. Nati said the visitors were surprised at the affordable prices of the Primavera Residences units considering its eco-friendly features and its aesthetics, especially the sensation of space created by the one-bedroom model unit.

“He inquired about the availability of the penthouse and told me (jokingly, I guess) he wanted to retire in Cagayan de Oro because of the excellent weather and was really impressed with the Pueblo de Oro golf course,” Mr. Nati added.

Not the least, Mr. Nati said Mr. Calderon also appreciated the “good energy and outlook” of Cagayan de Oro and its air links to Metro Manila and the rest of the country’s other hubs, especially the future potential for tourism and business presented by the Laguindingan Airport which is slated to become operational by the end of 2012.

Mr. Calderon was elected president of Real Madrid Club de Futbol (Royal Madrid Football Club), better known in sports as Real Madrid (Los Blancos in Spain) in 2 July 2006 and served till 16 January 2009. Unique among European football clubs, Real Madrid's members known as socios have owned and operated the club since its inception in 1902.

Based in Madrid, Spain, Real Madrid is one of Spanish football's top two football clubs winning a record 31 La Liga titles, 18 Spanish Copa del Rey Cups, eight Spanish Super Cups, one Copa Eva Duarte and one Copa de la Liga, a record nine UEFA Champions Leagues, two UEFA Cups, one UEFA Super Cup and three Intercontinental Cups.

According to Forbes.com latest list of “The World’s Most Valuable Richest Soccer Teams”, Real Madrid is also the world's richest football club in terms of revenue ($537-million) and the second most valuable with a current value of $1.451-billion in 2011.

A World Bank report showed that the Philippines has one of the highest rates of urban growth in the developing world – 5.1 percent in the last four decades. About 60 percent of the population is currently urban, data from the United Nations said.

The Greater Metro Manila area has over 12 million people. This accounts for 36 percent of the total urban population. An additional 10 percent of the urban population are situated in the next four largest metropolitan regions as identified by NEDA: Metro Cebu, Metro Davao, Metro Cagayan de Oro and Metro Angeles.

Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Vicente Y. Emano has announced that a 24-storey high rise condominium will be constructed in the city next year.

In his press statement HERE, he was referring to Avida, a brand of Ayala Land’s residential development. In a separate interview during his weekly radio program, Mayor Emano said he was informed of this project during a visit by Ayala engineers.

Unless the location will be different, it will probably be within Centrio, the space presently occupied by the field office at the back. This is something to look forward to in 2012.

Regarding Centrio, he said Ayala and Ultracraft advertising have reportedly agreed on certain terms on the construction of the pedestrian overpass across CM Recto. Ayala was initially against the construction of the said overpass by Ultracraft as this will affect the mall’s design. However, an agreement was made such that Ultracraft will still construct the overpass but in accordance with Ayala’s design. Again, this is also something to look forward too soon.

The company also said it is scheduled to get a new aircraft before the end of the year.

Mid-Sea Express flies 400 to 500 passengers a month. Later this year, Libiran said the company will mount additional flights to the cities of Davao and Cagayan de Oro.

The has purchased a 21-seater British Aesrospace Jetstream 32,which it expected to be delivered next month.

Urgent issues

The company also expects the delivery of a 107-seater Fokker 100 by the third quarter of 2012.

PROJECT WATCH: Avida Tower Centrio (http://www.cagayandeorodev.com/?p=15473)

Here is the perspective of the proposed 24-storey Avida Tower Centrio Condominium project of Ayala Land to be located at the back of the under construction Centrio Mall and Hotel.

http://www.cagayandeorodev.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/avida.jpg

The proposed high-rise building is set for construction in September 2012. By that time, the Mall and Hotel are already completed. The proposed site is currently occupied by the field office and workers canteen located at the back of the complex.

In my illustration below, there will be some 22 floors housing the condominium units, 21 of which (4th to 24th) are solely for residential while the 3rd floor also houses a function room and a pool. The first two floors account for the 163 parking spaces.

http://www.cagayandeorodev.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/avida2.jpg

Below is the top-view of the project.

http://www.cagayandeorodev.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/avida3.jpg

To show that it is indeed 24 floors.

By 2050 according to Goldman Sachs, the USA, Brazil, China, India, and Mexico will be the largest economies...

But I wouldn't count the Philippines out on that list...but only if the Philippines will develop a strong military power. Most of those countries are already producing highly sophisticated weapons at the moment and have their own battleships...except maybe Mexico(?).

Hopefully the Philippines will try to produce its own weapons and not depend on other countries, and have a highly organized army.

....upinyon lang...:)

I agree... Pero kadaghanan jud sa mga pinoy dle manugot...
what is your basis in saying that? many people do not know what is federal or any other better form of government. our leadership has not yet made any massive information and campaign about this matter. (This is OT). hehehehe...

(This is OT too) hehe I guess the answer is there. A lot of people misunderstood the idea of chacha. Sakto tong ganina nga ieducate ang mga tao about ani. But some of the people pud close minded. Basta gikan sa politiko, lahi dayon huna hunaon.
