GearX November 3rd, 2007, 04:32 AM Melindo added to big Araneta card By Joaquin Henson Saturday, November 3, 2007 Unbeaten WBO Asia-Pacific minimumweight champion Milan Melindo of Cagayan de Oro will join Rey (Boom Boom) Bautista, A. J. Banal and Michael Domingo in the blockbuster Araneta Coliseum card on Dec. 2, it was announced by promoter Noli Eala yesterday. Eala said Melindo’s foreign opponent will be known next week and assured he won’t be a patsy. “We’re excited that Melindo will fight in the undercard,” said Eala. “He’s a future world champion and we want the fans to see what he can do in the ring. We’re not looking for an easy opponent. We’re looking for someone who can put Melindo to the test.” Melindo, 19, has a 13-0 record, with four KOs, and his last two bouts ended inside the distance as he victimized Ariel Tadena and Nuapayak Sakkririn, both in the fourth round. He turned pro in 2005 and has beaten the likes of veterans Felix Marfa, Alex Aroy and Michael Rodriguez. Eala said preparations are underway to make the Big Dome card a memorable and historic event. Sponsors tickets are selling for P5,000 and special ringside seats for P2,500. General admission tickets are P100 each. “We’re putting up a 15-foot inflatable outside the Araneta Coliseum and producing a four-part primer on ABC-5,” said the former PBA commissioner who heads Third Force Promotions. “We’re tapping the Zippers made up of four sexy dancers, who were recently featured in Maxim Magazine, to promote the show on TV and live shows. They’ll be demonstrating the sport of zipping which combines playing with fire and something like baton-twirling. Our training day will be on Nov. 30 at the Mall of Asia and we’re arranging for another major site. We’re setting up a VIP section in the coliseum, transforming the area near the south entrance into a hospitality lounge where food and drinks will be served to special guests. We’re also inviting foreign celebrities.” Eala said talks are ongoing with the US internet protocol company NetVision to air the fights live on video streaming. “We’re starting the fights at about 10 a.m., now a habit for Filipino boxing fans who watch live satellite feeds from the US on Sunday mornings,” said Eala. “That will allow us to tap the prime time market in the US. We estimate about 20,000 to 50,000 hits and if each subscriber pays just $5, we’re in for a nice windfall.” Eala said negotiations are going on with Solar Sports to air the Nonito Donaire-Luis Maldonado fight for the IBF flyweight title in jumbo screens inside the Big Dome during a break in the card. Donaire’s title defense will be held in Connecticut. Eala said he is arranging for a top-notch ring announcer for the show. Candidates are Jimmy Lennon Jr. and Patricia Rosario, known as the world’s most beautiful ring announcer. “We’re producing a quality event,” said Eala. “Even the fighters’ call-ins will be unique with lots of lights and sounds. Most of all, we’ve got quality bouts. We want to show the world we can put up a first-class card in Manila and Filipino fans will support it.” Bautista will headline the card, battling Mexico’s Antonio (Barrio) Meza in a comeback do-or-die match. Bautista, Banal and Domingo – now training in Cebu – will arrive in Manila on Nov. 27. Eala disclosed that the consortium financing the Dec. 2 bill has been offered by international promoter Samson Lewkowicz to stage the IBF title eliminator between Z Gorres and Vic Darchinyan in Manila early next year. The principal partners in the consortium are ABC-5 owner Tony Boy Cojuangco, banker Eric Tagle and Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Neri Lim. Eala said Darchinyan is asking for a purse of $30,000 to $50,000 to fight Gorres here. He added that Bautista and Banal will be included in the card if it materializes. “It will depend on how Boom Boom and A. J. perform on Dec. 2,” said Eala. “If they win convincingly, we’ll put them in the undercard of Gorres’ fight. We’ll try to do the show after Manny Pacquiao’s next fight which is tentatively set on March 15. But it’s very encouraging that our group has been tapped by Lewkowicz because of the professional way we’re handling the Dec. 2 card.” source (http://www.philstar.com/index.php?Sports&p=49&type=2&sec=30&aid=20071102159) bariQ November 4th, 2007, 05:27 AM ^^ sa killerbee ba mo narinig yan kulas? kase marmaing local na bands pinapatugtog dun pati narin sa sandy 101 speaking of sandy napabato ila modeling contests? i love those! daming magaganda palage! :D bariQ November 4th, 2007, 05:30 AM i remember noon fiesta yata yun or some sports meet like dual meet yata. may boxing sa pelaez mgahigh school pa... talagang maagang training nila bariQ November 4th, 2007, 05:31 AM what cemetery is that? wow! exclusive hah! forbes park lugar hehhehe GearX November 4th, 2007, 05:36 AM Cagayan de Oro was the original "Boxing At The Park" at the Divisoria amphitheater....of which the concept of the National Search for Boxers was copied and produced the likes of Onyok Velasco and our very own Roberto Jalnaiz... DTI Regional Director Alicia V. Euseña said in 2006, only 16 establishments were awarded with four silver and 12 bronze seals. However, this year, the number of awardees has more than doubled with 13 getting silver and 26 getting bronze. This means that more businesses in the region practice responsible entrepreneurship. She said three establishments like NVM Marketing of Valencia City, Du EK Sam Inc., and Ruby Appliance Marketing of Camiguin beat their previous performances earning silver seals now from last year's bronze seals. "Our compliments to these establishments who have improved their services and give better services to their clients for utmost customer satisfaction," she added. The DTI-CE program caters to all business establishments nationwide that falls into its six categories, which include supermarkets, department stores, appliance centers, hardware stores, and service and repair shops that are DTI accredited. The 39 awardees went through a series of evaluation and assessment by the committee based on certain criteria set by the department. The DTI-CE committee is composed of the Consumernet chair, Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, DTI, and the City Treasurer's Office. The bronze awards were presented to those establishments that compled with all Fair Trade Laws such as the Price Act, Consumer Act, Price Tag Law, and Product Standard/Import Commodity Clearance Laws and Regulations. These establishments must also have functional consumer welfare desks (CWD). The DTI 10 said the silver seal demands compliance with all bronze requirements plus a clean, orderly, safe and environment-friendly store/workplace. The gold seal, however, requires establishments to be aligned with the International Standards Organization (ISO) 9000/14000 Certification that establishes evidence for quality management and environment management system. source (http://www.sunstar.com.ph/static/cag/2007/11/05/bus/39.region.10.businesses.receive.dti.ce.seal.html) GearX November 5th, 2007, 03:53 AM Team CU Placed 5th in the 1st Mechatronics National Skills Competition By: Maridee Bitalac Adiong http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/CU2.jpg Capitol University represented the Cagayan de Oro Cluster in the first ever Mechatronics National Skills Competition held last September 24 and 25, 2007 at MRSP Office, ISSI Bldg, University of the Philippines, Diliman. The team from CU was represented by Mark Anthony Mabanta and Marites Unabia both BS in Electronics and Communications Engineering 4th year students who won the Mechatronics Skills Competition-CDO Cluster held last July 2007 at MPSC. The team was coached by Engr. Richard Bacasmot in the CDO Cluster level and by Engr. Maridee Adiong in the national level. MRSP stands for Mechatronics and Robotics Society of the Philippines. The teams represented were Mapua Institute of Technology (MIT), DLSU, UP-Diliman, South Luzon State University (SLSU), AMA University, Marikina Polytechnic College, MSU-IIT – Industrial and Automation Control Engineering Technology (IACET), MSU-IIT – Mechatronics Engineering and Capitol University. http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/CU1.jpg It was quite an experience for the students to be exposed in this kind of skills competition. It strengthened their technical knowledge and gained new friends from other schools. source (http://themindanaocurrent.blogspot.com/) GearX November 5th, 2007, 04:05 AM Fr. Antonio F. Antonio F. Moreno SJ won the best book award for the category of Spirituality and Ministry in the Cardinal Sin Catholic Book Awards (CSCBA) held during the 2007 Catholic Mass Media Awards last 25 October 2007 at the Assumption College Auditorium, San Lorenzo Village, Makati City. Fr Moreno’s book titled Church, State, and Civil Society in Postauthoritarian Philippines: Narratives of Engaged Citizenship was published by the Ateneo de Manila University Press in 2006. The book was launched last year when Fr. Moreno was still the Vice President of Xavier University and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. He is now the President of Ateneo de Zamboanga University, the first Cagayanon to reach such a position in a Jesuit University. source (http://themindanaocurrent.blogspot.com/) GearX November 5th, 2007, 04:09 AM Xavier U’s performance in the Unigames The Xavier University Delegation to the 12th National University Games in Bacolod City came home with their heads up. Delegation Head and University Athletics Director Gerry Sabal was very happy with the performance of the teams especially Football, Table Tennis and Basketball. The Men’s Football Team had a great performance in the Unigames as they missed the Semi-finals due to points. After beating Visayas Powerhouse Silliman University 1-0, they drew with John B. Lacson University of Bacolod, 2-2 and DLSU-Manila 1-1. Unfortunately they bowed to West Negros College 6-0. Table Tennis, though they bowed out of contention have everything to keep their heads up. According to Coach Julie Castillon, their losses were all decided with a 5th and final set and they only lost by 2 points. The Basketball Team was able to improve their performance as they were able to grab a couple of wins despite being placed in the “group of death.” “In the other brackets, it was only one strong Manila teams then the other teams were not that strong,” Coach Rocky Calingin explained. “It was only in our bracket that we had the champions from all-over the country,” he added. Xavier was bracketed with the Pampanga Provincial Champions University of Angeles Foundation, Metro Manila’s Lyceum, Bacolod’s Inter-School and reigning National Inter-Collegiate Champions West Negros College, Dumaguete’s Inter-School Champion Silliman University and Davao’s Inter-School Champion University of Mindanao. In their 1st game, Xavier played against Lyceum in a tightly contested game. Lyceum emerged as the winner of the very physical game. Xavier was able to bounce back as they beat Silliman University. They then bowed to UAF and WNC then capped of their trip by beating the Powerhouse team of Davao, the University of Mindanao Aguilas. UM is a very strong team. They have been to the national championships numerous times. Ateneo de Davao University has not even won a single game against this team. In Mindanao, we can safely say that UM is the number 1 team. Xavier beating UM does not necessarily mean they are number 1 now. It just boost their morale. “The exposure of the team in the University Games means a lot for the players,” Sabal explained. “It will be a big help as the team participates in the Loyola Cup and the Mayor’s Cup,” he added. *** Aside from the 3rd Annual St. Ignatius de Loyola Cup which is set to open on November 17, another Inter-school league is on-going. The 1st Mayor Constantino Jaraula Cup opened last Saturday, .November 3 at the MPSC Gym. The same schools that participated in the Loyola Cup has expressed their intentions to join the Mayor’s Cup source (http://themindanaocurrent.blogspot.com/) GearX November 5th, 2007, 04:16 AM An Invitation to join the 1st Cagayan de Oro Fondant Cake Decorating Contest By Chef Ed DyChauco, Pots'n'Pans Peotraco Industries, makers of quality food ingredients for baking and cake decorating is conducting a “Fondant Cake Decorating Contest” this coming November 15, 2007, at the Atrium of the Limketkai Mall. The band named Oblivion. http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/oblivion.jpg Their status can be considered in the CDO music scene as legendary. Winning battle of the bands competitions left and right, representing the city in Mindanao finals competition, only to be rebuked by hometown favorites from Davao every time the competition was held in Davao. The band was so good that they were even given the opportunity to have a barangay tour all over the city just to have their music shared to fellow kagayanons in every nook and corners of the city. Their voices got noticed by a couple of producers. One foreigner even bankrolled their unofficial debut album, an album that consisted of songs written by the band and other composers. The album was good enough for its intentions, which was for a fund raising project for the Homeless kids of CDO. With that recording experience, their lead guitarist decided to invest on recording equipments and study the art of recording. After a few years that passed by along with the band’s busy gig skeds, the band was finally able to sit together and record their official debut album, Oblivion: Echoes of the Mind. The album was filled with killer guitar wails and chord progressions reminiscent of the band named Dreamtheater, one of their influences. Tracks that stood out were Shadows, Runaway, and the moving ballad Times Goes By. While the quality of this record was not that good, it was still good enough for their number of fans who would enjoy listening to their songs in the comforts of their CD players all over and over again. This was their initial experimental "Indie" offering. And like all initial "Indie" offerings, this never made it to Manila. But they achieved what they wanted to achieve, and that was to be able to share their music to their followers. A few years later, the band decided to record and produced their second album, and which would also be their last. The album The Crucifixion would be the band's final offering. With a better sound quality than the first album, the songs Shadows, and Runaway were re-issued. While its carrier single Crucifixion would lead the whole theme of the album, which was the death and crucifixion of Jesus Christ. This was the band's last stand. With no clear organization and direction of the CDO music scene, the band eventually broke up. Their lead guitarist went on for a solo project. The experimental album aptly titled CDO BLUES PROJECT, an album full of Visayan lyrics (An album that could rival Budoy's Jr. Kilat) heralded by the song Manang. This was the legendary story of Oblivion. Nuncyspungen While Oblivion never really made it to Manila, there was another CDO band that got that far. Nuncyspungen would be the first CDO alternative rock band that would gain national prominence. Before the big break came, the band has been seen touring all over the Viz-Min archipelago with their brand of Art-Rock music, gaining a decent following. http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/nuncyspungen.jpg They gained new fans in the process when their "Indie" album was released and distributed prominently at a local Music record bar, bannered by the hit song “One Grand of Something”, which kept the entire CDO city abuzz. With that kept in check, the band decided to bravely appear one day at NU107 and handed their demos personally. Their song was played in NU's In the Raw and caught some ears listening. Their big break came when PULP magazine's homegrown segment featured them. Their "Indie" efforts paid off nicely. Even before Pulp recognized them, the band had already solidified their fan base and core support group through friends, relatives, and their peers. The PULP feature would be their springboard for the band to be plastered on the nation's consciousness. They got invited in big and essential rock events all over the country like PULP Summer Slam and others. MTV Philippines featured them on their MTV Siesta show, and from there, they became known in Metro Manila's Rock circle. With their fast rising popularity, the band managed to snag a recording deal with a Cebu based recording company named Lighter Records (home label of Urbandub and other Cebu bands) via their Self-Titled album Nuncyspungen. The album featured the same songs from their "Indie" release. Currently, the band is undergoing personnel changes, and is on a brief hiatus. Nuncyspungen opened the doors for CDO bands. Manila bands would figuratively call them as "That band from Cagayan de Oro." source (http://philmusic.com/main/content/view/112/24/) GearX November 5th, 2007, 04:28 AM Tabularaza http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/tabularaza-story.jpg As of the present times, there are a couple of CDO bands that just came out with an album under respectable recording companies (Record companies that could bring their music outside of CDO). One is Tabularaza, who is signed under Cebu's Daybreak Records. Tabularaza is a power alterna-pop band that has catchy songs at par with other well recognized bands. They just recently released their official third album called Shewowah bannered by their single of the same name “Shewowah”. They also recently concluded a nationwide tour in promoting their album which gave them rave reviews from those who were able to come across their music. Tabularaza’s album has many potential sleeper hits that are just awaiting decent radio play in order for it to be appreciated more. While not entirely a new band (they have produced Independent albums in the past and even made it to NU's In the Raw show) it is just now that they are getting the good breaks. Tabularaza even became the first band from CDO to entirely shoot a music video here in the city and have it released in major music video channels nationwide. The band has also been getting media mileage from various national magazines such as Pulp and Fudge. Tabularaza is well recognized as the leader of the pack of fresher new generation of CDO bands who are trying to invade the nation’s consciousness. Thoughts And Notions Another one is Thoughts And Notions, a female fronted band, which released their debut album In Awe of His Amazing Love through Praise Music. The band is CDO's 1st ever-Christian Contemporary Music Pop-Rock band. The band is highly influenced by Jars of Clay and Sixpence None the Richer, both giants in their country's CCM scene. The band's carrier single “My Love Song” is being played by NU's Against the Flow show as well as other radio stations in Manila, Cebu, and Davao (Like The Edge Radio). Basically, Thoughts And Notions’ songs are best described as songs that aim to help uplift wounded souls, where most of their debut album’s songs talk about their faith, Christian Faith to be exact. While there are common stereotypes about Christian bands and Christian Music, Thoughts And Notions has surprisingly blew their audiences away with their refreshing take of their self written Christian themed songs. Their music is best described as a cross between Pop Rock, Alternative Rock, and Acoustic Music. Fish Magazine (a Christian magazine published by Bo Sanchez) has even began comparing them to other well recognized female fronted bands such as Moonstar88 and the Craeons and is saying that the band shows a lot of promise. The band is currently busy preparing for future gigs and Mall tours that would put them on the consciousness of Kagayanons before jumping on to other places. Drizzle Still, another CDO band that made waves in the nation’s music scene is the Pop Rock band named Drizzle (formerly called Coffee and Cream). They began their storied career after releasing an indie album that contained 10 tracks of brilliant Pop-rock tunes which topped the charts in local music stations here in CDO before flying to Manila to gain more exposure. The band members are grizzled veterans in CDO’s local gigging circle which would conveniently give them the much valued experience in surviving Metro Manila’s fast life. The band has recently released their album under Galaxy Records entitled Love without Logic. They are best recognized for their songs “Number 3” and their recently released second single “Ikaw Lang”. Drizzle is currently recognized as the biggest band that CDO has ever produced as they were able to crossover to mainstream media with their various appearances on National TV. They also have an excellent music video out for the song Number 3 in top music video channels across the country. Drizzle’s music offers a fresh take on the marriage of Pop Music and Alternative music as evidenced by their lead guitarist which formerly was from the legendary CDO rock alternative band called Oblivion. Drizzle is on its way to creating a storm as they currently moves around Manila doing mall tours in promoting their album. Fayeed Tan CDO also has their own Jason Mraz/John Mayer sound alike by the name of Fayeed Tan. Fayeed Tan is credited to be the man responsible in birthing CDO’s newest catchy nationalistic anthem called “Chuy” which is currently being used as the theme song of a locally produced entertainment show from ABS-CBN. Fayeed Tan has recently released his debut album called Di Na Magiisa under his own indie label Mindatone records. Several of his songs in this album topped the local radio charts here in CDO and are still being played massively to date. His live set is also one of those fun to watch because his energy is infectious. And just like Tabularaza, he was also able to release a music video that was shot entirely here in CDO with no less than former Miss Teen Philippines title holder Stephanie Sol (who also hails from CDO) playing the female lead to Fayeed. Fayeed’s musical skills are also one to hear for because of his uncanny knack for creating beautiful sounding arrangements to his songs that are rare nowadays. While his album might not have been massively distributed nationwide as of this writing, I am sure that before the year ends, it will eventually get picked up by an interested label to give it a fighting chance to be distributed nationwide. So as of the moment, the only way to hear this musical gem is to watch his music video on your favorite music channels or visit his friendster accounts. Southrace There’s also this versatile rock band that has an assortment of repertoire which includes Classic, Pop, Alternative, Screamo, named Southrace. They were able to release their Independent debut album locally called Freshwound with the help of a local Radio Station. Although their album is so “Do It Yourself”, the band has a lot of potential. They even have several Bisayan songs that can surely give Cebuano BizRock (Bisaya Rock) bands a run for their money. What makes this band impressive is that they could shift one particular rock genre to the other with relative ease. They also remain proud to their Mindanaoan roots that they intentionally named their band Southrace as an ode to their hometown. The screamo song “Day You Fade Away” stood out among the rest of the songs on the album with its well thought off arrangements. source (http://philmusic.com/main/content/view/138/23/) GearX November 5th, 2007, 04:31 AM 2007 will also going to be a big year for CDO bands Switch With the upcoming release of perhaps the most anticipated album of the year. CDO Industrial Rock band Switch is set to release their debut album within the year under Lighter Records. Switch is currently the most talked about band from Cagayan de Oro as evidenced by their full packed gigs and S.R.O crowds in Metro Manila’s gig spots. Switch has effectively pierced the nations ears with their synth induced music and an electronic setup. The band is one of its’ kind as it consists of only two members, both local legends in their hometown (One of them is also that guy from Oblivion and Drizzle). Pulp Magazine has been raving about their music and has even surprisingly featured the band in their Magazine with a Six-page spread, by far, the largest exposure ever for a CDO band in a national magazine. And they were given that warm exposure despite not having released an album just yet. People will best remember them for their song “Reconnect” from the World Battle of the Bands Pulp CD giveaway that came free upon purchasing a copy of Pulp Magazine months back. Switch has also been lined up to play in this year’s edition of Pulp Summer Slam, making them the second CDO band to play in such a huge event (the other being Nuncyspungen). And what even makes Switch more respectable for CDO bands is that they recorded their album entirely at a newly opened recording studio here in Cagayan de Oro City, which is slowly making the city become the music capital of Industrial Rock as some pundits are beginning to say. Switch is definitely the band to watch for this year. Gasulina http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/gasulina-story.jpg And of course the band highly touted and considered to be CDO's hottest band of the moment, Gasulina, a dance rock, alternative funk outfit that is set to fill the airwaves with their songs that are local hits like Fueled and the Pill, who is just waiting across the bend to be discovered by a major recording company. (They were recently featured on Fudge Magazine). They just recently concluded their Manila tour of duty wherein they were able to amazingly hold their own against more popular bands. And how could they not? When the band members came from different veteran CDO bands themselves? Notably with the two of them being ex-members of that CDO band that started it all for CDO bands, Nuncyspungen. Think of it as the coming together of local legends to form a superband (Traces of Velver Revolver and Audioslave anyone?) They are definitely CDO’s next big thing. Record execs should give these guys their ears before other get to them first. And more from the local front, there are a host of a dozen bands all waiting for their turn to have their music recorded, produced, and be heard. Some of them have even independently produced and is selling their own albums like Peachfuzz. There's also a tight group of SKA/Punk/Emo bands that meets and plays regularly such as the Superflirts, and Kaapin which is heavily supported by the underground Corridor Music Group. There’s the recently re-energized Swerve, which is now being fronted by a female vocalist who was a classmate of mine way back in high school. The Nirvana sounding grunge rock band called Twin Chickens, which is incidentally managed by a good friend of mine. Screamo act K9 which sounds so great. Folk Pop Tribal outfit Grupong Laya, which is giving tribal music new life here in CDO. All in all, the CDO music scene is quite alive and well. I guess it only takes a matter of time before we could duplicate the success of Cebu's local music scene. All we need is more unity from the bands and more love from our fellow Kagayanon brethrens as well as more genuine support from the Radio stations and DJs (no favoritisms please) and a well-managed Band organization (I have some ideas on these). But that is for another story. And oh yeah, before I forget, I invested on recording equipments and currently setting up a studio (with my lifetime savings) that hopefully would be able to help the local music scene's voices be heard! This is where Switch will be recording their album. source (http://philmusic.com/main/content/view/138/23/) GearX November 5th, 2007, 04:41 AM The Superflirts http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/superflirts.gif Out from the busy streets of Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines, rises this nine-piece ska outfit, The Superflirts. Influenced by the pioneers of early Jamaican ska, the British two-tone movement, as well as the sultry beats of New Orleans jazz and the groovy Detroit motown. The band also gives homage to rock n’ roll, punk, cha-cha and big band swing as their musical preferences. Musically inspired by foreign acts like The Skatalites, Prince Buster, Byron Lee and the Dragonaires, Justin Hinds and the Dominoes, Laurel Aitken, Desmond Dekker, The Wailers, Jazz Jamaica Allstars, The Specials, The Selecter, The English Beat, The Bodysnatchers, Madness, The Toasters, Bad Manners, Hepcat, New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra; and local Philippine artists like Shuffle Union, Coffeebreak Island, Neighbors, Brownbeat All-Stars, Jeepney Joyride, Skabeche, Ruska, Run Lucy Run and the legendary heroes of ska in the Philippines, Put3ska a.k.a “Manila’s Finest”. Even though the band’s brand of music pretty much sounds like Jamaican and British, they are still very much a proud product of the local scene in Cagayan de Oro City. The Superflirts was formed in April of 2004, but it was in November of 2003 that the band was first conceptualized by co-founders Francis Tahud on vocals and Pete Galupo on keyboards. These two guys along with old time friend and band mate John Cando on bass came up together, and since the three were already band mates back in high school in a four-piece ska/reggae act named Wenkatapi, the connection with each other was very easy. They were still in the process of looking for members since the plan was to make a ska band with a brass section. One time, during a class in Filipino at Ateneo de Cagayan University, Francis Tahud and a classmate were talking about how great Put3ska was back then in their glory days and the experience of his classmate when he saw Put3ska performed live. Because of this light-bulb-moment conversation, Francis Tahud saw that the one he was talking to is the perfect fit for the band, and without hesitations, he then immediately recruited his classmate to play the guitars. This then-classmate of his is Francis Ramos, the leader and the heart and soul of the band. On the other hand, Pete Galupo was able to look for a drummer and recruited the services of Andy Maglinao, but for some personal reasons, Andy was not able to continue long with the band. Francis Ramos then took charge of the recruitment process, and soon after searching the entire neighborhood, he found RR Gaylo and asked him to join the band as a drummer. After a failed attempt in searching the entire city, this time for a trumpeter, Francis Ramos was surprised to find out that the man the band was looking for was just sitting beside him in his classroom, it turned out to be that his classmate was a trumpeter, this was Patrick Inotao. Patrick was a member of the Ateneo de Cagayan Marching Band, and because of his access with the “horny guys” in the school’s marching band, he then brought in two more of his fellow cohorts, Bell Govico on trombone and Earl Bacabis on tenor sax. The Superflirts was then complete with eight members and ready to ska. After many nights of gigging and traveling, the band encountered its first set back when some of the members had to bid farewell for different reasons. These were Bell Govico, RR Gaylo, and Pete Galupo. Bell Govico had to leave the band because of his relocation to Cebu City, RR Gaylo had to manage their family business which made him very busy and soon left the band for good, and Pete Galupo, one of the band’s founding member, gave his final goodbye to the band to concentrate more on his studies. This key members’ exit made the band lay-low for awhile. But as luck would struck, the band found new blood who were willing to carry the torch and continue the fire burning that the band started. These were Kevin Billedo on trombone, Leroy Llenas on keyboards, Henry Vergara on drums, and Van Allena on alto sax. The Superflirts was then again complete and again ready to ska, but this time more cohesive, more intense and a nine-piece unit. They were first introduced in the underground circuit under the banner of Corridor Music Group. It was through these underground gigs that the band made a name for itself which was to the delight of the audience; from the young and the old, the white collars and the blue collars, and the fashionable and the unfashionable, they embraced gladly the sound of the band. The fun and festive music these guys create during their on-stage performances defines the Visayan term “lingaw”, which means fun. The ambiance they exhibit amplifies the people into a ska-frenzy groove that transcends deep down the soul and stay stuck there for a long time. To all the curious souls, the meaning behind the band’s name is quite simple and literal. It came from an inspiration of how the way rudeboys and rudegirls dance to the beat of ska. When they groove to the music, they all look very “flirty”. To give it more angst and to fuel the name, the word “super” was added, hence The Superflirts. It was no stopping The Superflirts as they played around the bars in Cagayan de Oro City and toured ruthlessly the roads of Mindanao. They visited neighboring cities like Iligan, Malaybalay, and Davao several times and even headlined major events with other mainstream bands from Manila and Cebu. Having been featured in magazines, given TV and radio exposures, the band still pushes hard to break the boundaries and spread the sweet sound of ska outside their hometown. Now, after all the lineup changes, after all the traveling, after all the gigging, after all the issues, and after all the problems, the band still remains strong and intact. The Superflirts have set a trend in which they conjure that playing music should be fun and hassle-free by allowing each members’ creative juice to flow and by looking out for each other as band mates and as good friends. They do not force their music to be loved by the many, but makes the true fans appreciate it even better. Keeping it simple by all means is the main formula of this unit. Easy music for everybody. These nine guys – Francis R, John, Francis T, Patrick, Earl, Kevin, Leroy, Henry and Van - along with their passion for music and the love for ska have brought them together. It soon ended up merging some of the members from their brother band Eavesdrop. Aian, the drummer of Eavesdrop was imported to be the new bassist for the Kangaroos together with Keith as a substitute bassist. Fans have written that they have shown up on times when the band she is an opening act, dreading the thought of agonizing through another not so interesting opening act, but when her band came onstage and the audience saw her, opinions and feelings changed drastically. By the time the opening band finished their set, the audience felt they just had a religious experience. She is a rising star of the musical world. She is Mariqueen “Queenie” Maandig, daughter of Jun and Lucy Arrabaca Maandig of Cagayan de Oro City. She is the other lead singer for the band West Indian Girl. She was recently featured in a news release in the San Diego Union Tribune. The press release stated that although fellow lead singer Mariqueen Maandig did not join the band until November 2004–after the debut record was released–on stage, her sultry voice and looks complement Rob James as he warbles whimsical lyrics. West Indian Girl, a band formed in 2002 in Los Angeles is rapidly gaining a wide fan base. Propelled by the writing of musically talented Francis Ten and Rob James (fellow lead singer) who first met in Detroit, the band explores themes of transcendental and romanticism in its music. “Bliss, joy and revelation” is how Rob describes his band. Francis categorizes the band as a positive one that jams. The band’s self-titled debut album was given four stars by EOM (evolution of music) review. Their sound has been described as the happy offspring of a gentle Jane’s Addiction and the Chemical Brothers, with touches of the Sundays, the Verve and new-school Whale. source (http://www.mindanao.com/blog/?p=585) GearX November 5th, 2007, 10:47 AM AEGIS, they came and they conquered and it was worth the money By Marisse Panlilio of MPE http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/aegis.jpg Yes, they came and they conquered. Who would have thought. I must admit I was introduced to this group only twice via TFC, not familiar with any of their songs/hits, I hesistantly obliged to spend my Saturday evening with 16 of my friends. What a pleasant surprise. Boy did they deliver. What's in a name? A lot! The name Aegis is synonymous to the masses - madlang people - colloquial term. Their songs are heartwarming, social conscious songs that reach the depths of the Pinoys inner emotions. The audience sang along, laughed with them and was 200% attentive from start to finish. Their repertoire was as diverse as the members themselves. Juliet and Mercy, if you don't already know are sisters from Cagayan De Oro, keyboard player Stella is from Misamis Occidental, drummer Vilma hails from Manila, Weng - bass player is my kababayan from Pampanga and lead guitar player and the only rose among the thorns, Rey is from Leyte. In spite of their hectic schedule, the energy and stamina Juliet/Bunso exhibited was unbelievable. Hats off to Juliet. I am sure everybody was mesmerized as I was. The show became extemporaneous when members of the audience put in their special requests after the siblings' invite. Another side of Juliet and Mercy is the gift of comedy. For a small price- in dollars of course (wink) they obliged and sang special requests and at one point Juliet dragged Rey's guitar case center/front of stage for a safe place for their Benjamin's ($'s). From the roster of songs, the tightness of the band and the versatility of Juliet and Mercy - Halik ng Aegis is one for the books. Walang ere, walang quieme-ieme. Too bad to those who turned down my invitation. I thought too of our fellow Jerseyites and New Yorkers who in one way or the other did not support this group. "Bakya naman", "Baduy naman", "Pang masa" were some of the comments. In music there is no baduy, no bakya. Music is food for the soul, race, religion, economic status is irrelevant. Music is universal. The evening turned out to be superbly entertaining- one worth remembering with the Grim Bottle, Ciello's Rhythm, Camile Velasco of American Idol fame as guest performers and the stars of the evening, AEGIS this concert was one worth remembering. source (http://www.carouselpinoy.com/notesandreviews3.html) GearX November 5th, 2007, 10:49 AM The Fil-Am Idol: Double mint lady Wouldn't everything be better if we could just all "love life, seek knowledge and not squander our time?" It's a Pollyanna- way of thinking, I'll grant you that, but if you happen to be Camile Velasco, American Idol (AI) Season Finalist, you might just come up with the same message, too. Consider this, Velasco, 20, is not your typical American, Filipino or Filipino-American girl next door. Though proud of her Filipino heritage she is quick to quip, "I’m also part Irish, part Spanish." She left High School at 16 and got her GED. She first realized she could sing at age 10 with her younger sister of three years. But it was no revelation. She actually thought that it wasn’t a big deal, believing that everybody could sing, since everybody in her family did. She was never encouraged, was never a part of a choir, no piano lessons much less voice lessons. "I learned to play by ear." And is it quite possible that in this laid back environment in which practically everyone sings a star awaits to shine brightly? How about maybe differently? Sharing lunch with Velasco had me thinking differently. How differently? Let me first describe how she came in, on time, in fact a bit earlier than the scheduled press con at Perlas ng Silangan. No manager, no publicist not even a friend (American style girl power or Pinoy style to act as alalay). Looking almost out of an 80’s movie set, sort of Molly Ringwald back from an Island vacation. The curly hair, silver jewelry, black top with the falling-off-the-shoulder effect but her short nails were painted green, of the Rastafarian origin. The not so tight, hugging jeans are of this day and age, low rise and it becomes her. She describes herself as a normal 20 year old: "I’m just like everybody else." Life before AI was an IHOP restaurant in Maui Mall, which her family owns. With an infectious grin she adds, "everybody is crazy in his or her own right, we’re all put in the world to make the best of it." Admittedly she claims she shops at Vintage clothing shops. Nothing big or fancy, just little things. No wardrobe consultant either. As I struggle to take down notes, the rhythm of her communication continues, not just words but with gestures, eye contact, kindness, a little bit of awe, cheery excitement. She’s an animated conversationalist, a pinoy trait? In her childhood at Haiku, Hawaii, something about her family dotingly calling her "Kengkoy." In parts “keng” and the “koy” but the “koy” stuck. Fans in Manila were quick to adopt this. I saw a black camera bag with the signature red, green, gold strap and matching “love ko si Koy” proclamation. She says, "I love it!" and giggles. Apparently the same Manila-based fans all welcomed her at the airport sporting uniform Rastafarian bracelets. The significance? "To me it represents peace and love." Velasco loves Reggae music but describes her music as urban jazz. Billie Holiday and other artists whose names she rattles off influence her art and music. She stresses she’s "still deciding what to be." She makes us aware of the fact that it takes a good fifty plus songs to get a good 12-song album. "One doesn’t come up with something right away." Asked for a song that she’s most connected to, after much pondering she came up with "Love of my life" by Queen. "You will remember when this is blown over, And everything's all by the way, When I grow older, I will be there at your side, To remind how I still love you I still love you I still love you" http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/grethelandcamile.jpg Why Queen, why this song? "My mother loves the song, the voice, lyrics, short and awesome." Mom is the best. Mom is Rennie West originally from Cagayan de Oro whose entertainment background stems from being a screenwriter for Viva Films at some point. Camile excuses herself every now and then to answer her phone, only to murmur a quick "can I call you back? I’m in a meeting." Or to pose for photos with fans, play along with a kid and even join a group "happy birthday" singing for other restaurant patrons. But Velasco's upbeat way of thinking about life has produced an equally upbeat result that doubles her chances for success. How has the generation of the music video affected this rising star? Set aside the images of fur and pearls, the concept of life as a big party. Velasco saw music videos in a positive light. "Portraying a song in a visual avenue, it’s like portraying oneself as an artist, putting a message." The result? A very likeable, down-to-earth performer. She did not complain, not even once about being interrupted multiple times for photos and autographs while having lunch. Lunch the Filipino way, I noted that she ate her sinigang with rice unlike my US-born hubby who ate his like regular soup. Ritchie Siong of Ladera Ranch, California had never been to Perlas ng Silangan before. He was visiting a cousin in New York and happened to come by for lunch. He did the “double mint look” when he caught a glimpse of Velasco. "What a pleasant surprise," he exclaimed. "I’ve seen her on TV, we even voted for her." American Idol not only opened doors for Velasco, it also opened her eyes to the reality of the business. Showing her techniques. Seeing the rough, superficial, "dog-eat-dog" world. But she can’t complain. It has also given her more confidence. (Prior to auditioning she had only been on stage three times!) Life after AI is awesome. She foresees about 3 to 5 years on tour, "I would love to be on the road traveling." Put her anywhere, on stage, behind the scenes, writing. She enjoys performing with live bands. Appreciates the essence, rawness of it. She’s very comfortable jamming. Call her the double mint lady, not after the ads for the gum of the same name (you know: the singing twins. "Double your pleasure/Double your fun. . . . ") But because she is mint for (both) Filipinos and Americans plus you would have to give her a double look when you can, anyhow. Is she Pinay? Is she AI? She obviously enjoys the best of both worlds, but this is more than a grab for what’s easy to identify with. It's also doing what you’re good at. No matter how you see her, Velasco will always have a second card to play. She has an advantage. The music of her heart and mind. Staying grounded and connected to the world. Continue with her type of music that touches the soul and creates memories and maybe build a bridge through cultures. And if that works, why stop there? Almeda PhilBoxing.com 24 Apr 2006 http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/renebarrientos.jpg “When my children who found job opportunities abroad asked me if I had the means to cover their transportation, I didn’t hesitate to answer yes to keep their minds off the problem I believed was mine to tackle”. So shared former WBC Junior Lightweight champion Rene Barrientos to about 3 of us attendees of the 1st GAB Philippine Boxing Convention (April 19-22, 2006) in Manila, Philippines who were privileged to talk with him in a corner of the convention site during one of our break periods. This fatherly statement hit home because I have a son who is now asking me to help cover his transportation for abroad and my son is not hearing from me what Rene’s children heard from their father. Rene confided that when his children asked the question, he didn’t have the amount needed for the trip. What he had was a piece of real estate he was able to purchase years back from the “little” earnings he made from boxing. The land has since increased in value by the time his kids needed the about P200,000 or so for the one-way trip. It’s not easy to generate cash from a piece of real estate. Try the bankers. But Rene is not only the successful ring tactician who won the world boxing crown for himself and the country. After consulting with his children, he made an offer too good for a moneyed “financer” to pass up. A couple of million pesos worth of real estate will be the financer’s if at the end of 2 months the P200,000 loan will not be paid. The loan was paid before the 2 months were up from his children’s remittances. Financial prudence earning fighters now should emulate I’ve been reading about Rene Barrientos, the champ (to distinguish him from his namesake cousin who was an airline pilot) for years and so I thought I should not pass up the opportunity to hear him in person when I learned he was a convention delegate. A friendly gentleman, he was very accommodating as I sought him for a chat about what he accomplished then and what he is doing now. About 2 fellow delegates joined us. We discussed the sad plight of some of our fighters including former champions who are now in dire financial streets. Rene said that he listed his earnings from boxing and the total amount does not even reach P300,000. He knew that the money earned by a fighter takes little, if any, effort to lose. Recognizing likewise that there is a greater need for business acumen to successfully invest one’s earnings from prize fighting in a business undertaking, Rene opted for that simple alternative which requires of him only a little of such business wisdom. He bought a piece of land in Cagayan de Oro City where he resides and erected apartment units the earnings from which, aside from having financed all his 5 children’s earning their respective college degrees, even today support his family. Rene was also able to buy from his approximately P300,000 earnings a piece of land located in the heart of Cebu City. He had received offers for this piece of prime real estate for P80,000 per square meter which he declined. This property likewise produces for him a couple of thousand pesos monthly income. Not only did Rene save his hard earned boxing earnings, he made the amount grow many times over to secure his family’s well being even in the years to come. Learning from Rene I learned from Rene a more fatherly approach to address my son’s “sonly” (is this word possible?) need. Rene Barrientos should have a bigger audience of fellow fighters and speak about how he made his little earnings from boxing grow for the fighters to learn from. With his good reputation as a former Junior Lightweight champion of the world intact, his fellow fighters and even boxing managers, promoters, trainers, GAB personnel, boxing officials and writers would, most probably, have their attention undivided for Rene Barrientos. I wrote this piece as my initial contribution towards a boxer’s developing an interest in his own life after he retires from boxing. Anybody who has that opportunity to talk to a fighter now, please tell him about Rene Barrientos. Boxing has given our country probably more honors than any other sport. We should care for our boxers’ welfare. As Rene Barrientos aptly puts it, “without the boxer, where would you in whatever involvement in boxing you are in, be?”. source (http://philboxing.com/news/list.articles.php?aid=316) GearX November 5th, 2007, 11:02 AM the jeep... http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/874313393_586719f88c.jpg the sign... http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/874313413_a62a9aaf08_m.jpg view from Macahambus Gorge... http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/875174958_3a5205a7ea.jpg canopy walk... http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/875175020_af71fbae93.jpg close-up of canopy walk (don't close your eyes)... http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/875175042_4500dc51e4.jpg lunch time... http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/923215109_84c02656b4.jpg kain na... http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/874313429_3da31a6933.jpg shower room... http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/923405813_bb82c7b08a.jpg KulasKusgan November 5th, 2007, 11:52 AM thanks everyone. thanks gearX. yes, kaapin pala yong narinig ko. the title of their song is something like "walking confession or confusion" sa tunog kagay-an. http://project8.multiply.com/photos/album/10/ej_on_kaapin 2007 will also going to be a big year for CDO bands Switch With the upcoming release of perhaps the most anticipated album of the year. There's also a tight group of SKA/Punk/Emo bands that meets and plays regularly such as the Superflirts, and Kaapinwhich is heavily supported by the underground Corridor Music Group. This is where Switch will be recording their album. source (http://philmusic.com/main/content/view/138/23/) Ex!lE November 5th, 2007, 01:09 PM ^^GearX, are you the one who took those pictures? Tadeo/City Information Office Date Published: 2007-11-05 City Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula today, called on the Cagayan de Oro City Fire Department to strengthen its capability and readiness to respond to fire incidents in the city. This even as newly appointed City Fire Marshall Jack M. Bigwil paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Jaraula this morning. F/Insp. Bigwil assumed the responsibility as city fire marshal following the transfer of former city fire marshal F/Chief Inspector Oscar Abecia to the regional office of the Bureau of Fire Protection. Mayor Jaraula said that the local fire department should institute initiatives that will strengthen the local fire officers’ capability and preparedness in responding to fire calls. Among the initiatives that Mayor Jaraula wanted the local fire department to implement is the setting aside of one hour every day for the continuous training of fire officers along disaster preparedness as well as the regular check up of firefighting equipment to ensure effective response to fire incidents. Mayor Jaraula also told the new city fire marshal to ensure that at least 50 percent of the total number of local fire officers shall be in the office in order to coordinate closely with other government agencies along the protection and safety of the local constituents. Mayor Jaraula underscored that the Bureau of Fire Protection is an integral part of the entire public safety network and should therefore establish a strong linkage with other agencies not only in responding to cases of fire but more importantly, in the implementation of the provisions of the fire safety code. Together with City Fire Marshal Jack Bigwil in paying a courtesy visit to Mayor Jaraula this morning is F/Insp. Gadioso C. Milloria who is now the chief of the Operations Division of the Bureau of Fire Department in Region 10. http://www.cagayandeoro.gov.ph/index.php?page=news&id=790 ph_matrix November 5th, 2007, 08:43 PM Mayor Jaraula vows to stop flesh trade in Oro by Sandra B. Tadeo/City Information Office Date Published: 2007-11-05 City Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula is determined to pursue a serious campaign against commercial sex in Cagayan de Oro . He declared during this morning’s regular flag raising ceremony that he will order the closure of all night spots in the city that offer lewd shows and prostitution. Mayor Jaraula said that it is about time that the city government puts a stop to night establishments that offer entertainments that tend to destroy the moral fiber of the local community. “It should be known to the world that the city can compete globally as a tourism destination even without the presence of the flesh trade here,” Mayor Jaraula pointed out. Mayor Jaraula said that the city can still attract more tourists to come to the city through its various interesting destinations and activities as well as the city’s reputation being home to friendly and peace-loving people. “Let us show to the world that more than anything else, we are proud of the globally competitive skills and talents of the Cagayanons,” Mayor Jaraula continued. Mayor Jaraula’s declaration to close commercial sex establishments in the city came amidst a report of a person who is now being monitored by the City Health Office for possible infection of the dreaded HIV. Along this, Mayor Jaraula cautioned those who are fond of engaging the services of commercial sex workers to be careful about the possibility of contracting HIV and other sexually-transmitted diseases. The city mayor pointed out that there is no better and sure way to prevent HIV and STDs than by remaining faithful to one’s partner. Meanwhile, Mayor Jaraula also disclosed that the operations of the weekly night café has been shortened to one o’clock in the morning from the usual closing time at two o’clock. Earlier, Mayor Jaraula ordered the enforcement of curfew hour which prohibits minors from roaming around the city after 10:00 p.m. http://www.cagayandeoro.gov.ph/index.php?page=news&id=789 ph_matrix November 5th, 2007, 08:46 PM 18 below ba yong minors ? ph_matrix November 5th, 2007, 09:02 PM ^^ Any new regarding yong project ni SM na mag construct ng White River Rafting Shop ba yon.. qwert_guy November 6th, 2007, 02:31 AM wow chicks, nasa harap si gearX...siya yung nag click ng camera...:bash: Farirah November 6th, 2007, 03:08 AM http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/grethelandcamile.jpg My God! The evening turned out to be superbly entertaining- one worth remembering with the Grim Bottle, Ciello's Rhythm, Camile Velasco of American Idol fame as guest performers and the stars of the evening, AEGIS this concert was one worth remembering. source (http://www.carouselpinoy.com/notesandreviews3.html) sorry mga guys. reklamo lang ako ng konte... Cagayan de Oro Mayor Constantino Jaraula during Monday morning’s flag-raising ceremony said he will order the closure of all nightspots in the city found to be offering lewd shows and prostitution. Assistant City Health Officer Dr. Joselito Retuya confirmed that they have spotted the female sex worker, termed as “prostituted women (PWs)” by feminist groups, operating in some of the city’s nightspots. Some PWs who requested anonymity told local media that they are protesting the move since this would deprive them of their livelihood. Feminist groups in Cagayan de Oro have long called on local government units (LGUs) to take decisive steps aimed at ending prostitution. They even declared some dates as “No Prostitution Day” wherein they convince club customers not to hang out in clubs suspected to be engaged in prostitution. In line with this, Jaraula said the weekly night cafe will close at 1 a.m. the following day instead of 2 a.m. Ibex November 6th, 2007, 06:03 AM :ohno: :ohno: :ohno: bariQ November 6th, 2007, 06:04 AM ive tried the canopy walk at that place farther up malasag. what was it called? its thrilling for us guys who have not really tasted the good life  bariQ November 6th, 2007, 06:08 AM in fairness magaganda ang mga prostis :D nandun ako sa city health nung nagpapacheck up sila. ang sesexy at gaganda as in! too bad naging prosti sila :( ph_matrix November 6th, 2007, 06:10 AM ^^^^ hahaha, na in love ka no @bariq ? scary yong news na STD.. bariQ November 6th, 2007, 06:14 AM anong news ba? basta makikita mo yan sila nakalinya :D mapuputi at flawless! sa bagay yan naman talaga puhunan nila :D ph_matrix November 6th, 2007, 06:15 AM basta idol ko rin sla... nevermind the crabs.. ph_matrix November 6th, 2007, 06:18 AM http://www.cagayandeoro.gov.ph/index.php?page=news&id=789 "Mayor Jaraula’s declaration to close commercial sex establishments in the city came amidst a report of a person who is now being monitored by the City Health Office for possible infection of the dreaded HIV." anong news ba? basta makikita mo yan sila nakalinya :D mapuputi at flawless! sa bagay yan naman talaga puhunan nila :D bariQ November 6th, 2007, 06:19 AM crabs... the CANCER of society.... :ohno: oist ph_matrix lagay mo ang team mo dito! :D proud kami sa inyo  ph_matrix November 6th, 2007, 06:20 AM oo nga no.. cge research muna ako.. bariQ November 6th, 2007, 06:22 AM congratulations to ph_matrix team effinable??? :D  bariQ November 6th, 2007, 06:23 AM dapat na talaga isarado ang navigator  pati yung pyramid? ph_matrix November 6th, 2007, 06:29 AM ^^ i have to ask pictures muna sa bossing ko ha.. ph_matrix November 6th, 2007, 06:30 AM ^^ wala ng hangout si @Exile :lol::lol: bariQ November 6th, 2007, 06:33 AM  GearX November 6th, 2007, 06:42 AM ^^ wala ng hangout si @Exile :lol::lol: baka mawalan ng trabaho (navigator)? bariQ November 6th, 2007, 06:44 AM   ph_matrix November 6th, 2007, 06:49 AM :lol::lol: pag nagalit yon sa comments natin totoo ang issue hehehe sugbuanon November 6th, 2007, 06:51 AM Nuncyspungen While Oblivion never really made it to Manila, there was another CDO band that got that far. Manila bands would figuratively call them as "That band from Cagayan de Oro." source (http://philmusic.com/main/content/view/112/24/) what happened na to nuncyspungen? have they disbanded? this is one of my favorite indie bands to come out from the south.. i even bought a copy of their album during their concert here in cebu 2 or 3 yrs ago.. it was their song "daybreak" that really caught my interest on this band.. this band is pure talent.. theyre even better than some popular bands from the capital.. :) ph_matrix November 6th, 2007, 06:59 AM TEAM CDO INEFFABLE RF ONLINE CITY UNDERSIEGE II NATIONAL CHAMPIONS held in WTC Manila. http://photos.friendster.com/photos/98/07/8977089/1_676372375l.jpg http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q293/cyvilnet_cafe/levelup_live07/DSC02104.jpg http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q293/cyvilnet_cafe/levelup_live07/DSC02095.jpg http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q293/cyvilnet_cafe/levelup_live07/DSC02131.jpg http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q293/cyvilnet_cafe/levelup_live07/DSC02080.jpg http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q293/cyvilnet_cafe/levelup_live07/DSC02152.jpg http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q293/cyvilnet_cafe/levelup_live07/DSC02138.jpg http://rf.levelupgames.ph/cus2/gallery_cdo.php http://risingforce.levelupgames.ph/cus_champs.htm http://profiles.friendster.com/cyvilnet http://www.cyvilnet.cjb.net bariQ November 6th, 2007, 07:05 AM NICE! congrats again     bat wala ka ph? wala yata akong kakilala dyan. sasali ba kayo sa mga asian/world championships? ph_matrix November 6th, 2007, 07:16 AM ^^ hoi wala koy labot dha oi, mga gamers na namo na sa cafe, they are the one making as rich ehehehehe :lol::lol: , Gawas kong starcraft na naa ko dha, that's why I'm waiting for the Starcraft 2. Syntactics, Inc. was cited by the DigitalFilipino.com Web Awards as the best corporate/professional website in the country in awarding rites held at the Board of Investments Penthouse April 27. The DigitalFilipino.com Club is a community of e-commerce professionals and enthusiasts. “Websites in over thirty categories were reviewed and judged for their ability create a noticeable presence on the Internet – their ability to be seen and heard among all the noise and clutter of the Net,” said DigitalFilipino.com CEO Janette Toral said. “Commercial websites were evaluated for their ability to conduct user-friendly e-Commerce in a professional manner.” “The DigitalFilipino.com Web Awards advocates use of the Internet and e-Commerce for business development, through the identification, promotion, and highlighting of best e-Commerce practices from various websites in the Philippines,” said Ms. Toral, who is also a writer, SEO consultant, trainer, blogger, policy lobbyist, and entrepreneur. Syntactics is a Cagayan de Oro city based software development company offering accounting systems and Web page development to small businesses. It was a start-up by partners Stephanie Rosalind P. Caragos and Wilfredo P. Kaamiño, Jr., who are now its Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer, respectively. The firm started as Elite Business Systems with one PC, a scanner and a printer in a small office sub-let by Ms. Caragos’ family for a song. They had no salaries and contented themselves with a P300 allowance at the start, plowing back all profits into the business. By their third year, they began turning a profit and started hiring people. With the help of the Dept. of Trade and Industry (DTI), the duo adopted the Capability Maturity Model Integration, an ISO for software engineering which enabled them to handle several projects at once and considerably lowered the software development cycle. But the lack of awareness and professionalism are keeping the software development industry from riding the wave of growth now sweeping the country’s leading urban centers. “The most common situations we have encountered as local IT consultants, analysts, software and website developers in Cagayan de Oro are the lack of awareness by our target market of the presence of software development companies in the city and Mindanao, the low professionalization of the industry; IT graduates unpreparedness for the real world and lack of investor confidence due to our location in Mindanao,” Ms. Caragos said. Ms. Caragos, who is also the founding president of the Cagayan de Oro Software Developers Association, said even those who know about local developers, don’t have confidence in their capabilities to deliver what they need. “A lot of the larger SMEs and corporations still opt for Manila or Cebu based companies believing they are more experienced and capable than us in Mindanao.” And when local clients do engage local developers, many want it delivered the next day, unaware of the complexities involved in making a good system. “The time in drafting the deliverables and in making a sound agreement and contract is oftentimes skipped, leading to complications in the long run,”Ms. Caragos said. “Oftentimes, stakeholders just tell the developer “ikaw na bahala” or “it’s up to you” and end up asking more features, modules and reports after the developer has delivered the system. The stakeholder ends up believing “the developer didn’t do his job” because they don’t know what to expect from developers and are unaware of the process involved in developing a system. Local developers also encounter resistance from clients’ employees who would use the system, believing they could lose their jobs or their “value” in the company once a system is up and running. Since the actual users don’t provide key information during development analysis, the designed systems don’t really address their needs or they deliberately resist using the system properly upon implementation or training. Social preparation, or its equivalent appears to be taking care of this problem. “We brief them on the process in development, how much of their involvement is needed, and what to expect from us as developers and analysts,” Caragos said. “Of course, we stress that their cooperation and involvement is needed to ensure the system’s proper design and development. “ Equally important, is informing the system users of its purpose, which is primarily to help them do their jobs, so they can focus on more crucial tasks instead of crunching numbers and pencil pushing most of the time, she added. In their personal capacities as professionals and as association members, they have become resource speakers for trainings in government agencies and also aim to offer seminars and tutorials in the future. “Professionalization of the industry is also a growing concern,” Caragos said. “|There is no governing body or organization setting up mandatory standards.” “As officers and members of the association, we educate our colleagues to initially create standards and awareness,” Caragos said. “Through these seminars, we can impress on students and professionals the need for standardization and proper steps in ensuring proper communication with the client.” The association has also drafted a code of ethics which all members are requested to follow, not just for the protection of the profession but its clients as well. “Once we have standards and ethics in place, we won’t have to worry about recommending any member for a specific project or job,” she added. Not the least, there’s the negative perception of clients and investors about Mindanao. “This concern comes out because of the fear that is instilled in them from what they read in the papers and see in the news,” Ms.Caragos said. “Because of this, we are starting to have problems outsourcing projects and lose potential partners from other places in the country.” However, she credits the active government-business partnership which is moving to solve this image problem. “We’re just happy that the city government itself is inviting investors to come and ensure them that our place is safe, that there is ready pool of professionals, just waiting to be tapped,” Ms. Caragos said. But knowing the web the way they do, the partners are already moving beyond the geographical limits of Mindanao with Business Process Outsourcing (BPO)-oriented services. In October 2006, EBS was incorporated as Syntactics Inc. with three new partners: Ms. Caragos Dad Salvador Caragos, Jr. who brought over 30 years of banking and finance expertise to the expanding start-up; elder sister Melanie Talimio and her husband Ray who brought in their accounting and finance experience and portfolio of clients. “Kuya Ray and Manang Minie brought us 19 years of expertise in their profession which will serve us in good stead as we eye BPO services overseas, more specifically back office operations,” Ms. Caragos said. Trade undersecretary for operations, Carisa Evangelista recently cited Cagayan de Oro among the good BPO locations outside Metro Manila. http://kagay-an.com/articles.php?art_id=1641&sec_id=7&cat_id=37 ph_matrix November 6th, 2007, 03:53 PM SM Cagayan de Oro IT Center Proclaimed CDO's 2nd IT Ecozone By Mike Baños The local Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry takes a new tack with the recent proclamation of the SM Cagayan de Oro (SMCO) IT Center as second IT ecozone by President Gloria Arroyo. “The SMCO IT Center’s registration as an IT Ecozone was approved by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority through PEZA Board Resolution no. 06-256 dated June 13, 2006 and issued certificate of registration EZ-07-25,” said Bienvenido Paul C. Ferrer III, SM City Cagayan de Oro Mall Manager. “This was formally proclaimed by President Gloria Arroyo on April 24, 2007 through Presidential Proclamation No. 1281.” The proclamation allows SMCO IT Center to lease out 59,075 square meters (sq.m.) or approximately six hectares of its 83,292 sq.m. total floor area to locators in the ICT industry such as call centers, business process outsourcing firms and software developers. A PEZA registration entitles locators in the SMCO IT Center to PEZA perks such as a five year income tax holiday. Mr. Ferrer said SMCO IT Center is negotiating with a US-based data collection firm for a 3,500 sq.m. space that will initially house a 300-seat call center which will be expanded to 700 by year end if plans push through. A Swedish call center has also expressed interest in locating in SMCO IT Center for its eventual expansion, he added. Pueblo de Oro IT Park, which is adjacent to SMCO IT Center, was the first information technology park in Mindanao proclaimed and registered with the PEZA. It is located just beside Pueblo Business Park and SM City Mall and is also close to several residential villages and the Lumbia airport in Uptown Cagayan de Oro. The park boasts of underground provisions for cables and telecom facilities now used by resident telecom providers for their broadband nodes. In addition, an interconnected electrical distribution system loop is connected to three substations of the local power utility, Cagayan Electric Power and Light Co., ensuring a constant power supply. At present, Pueblo IT Park hosts Link2Support Inc., the first technical call center in Cagayan de Oro City and the first PEZA-registered call center in Mindanao. It is now constructing an annex to house its expanded operations and is negotiating for a space in the SMCO IT Center for its training center to be operational within the third quarter of this year, Mr. Ferrer said. Besides the two operational IT ecozones, industry sources report another of the city’s major malls has already filed its application as an IT ecozone with the PEZA and is now only awaiting approval. http://kagay-an.com/articles.php?art_id=1652&sec_id=5&cat_id=32 ph_matrix November 6th, 2007, 04:07 PM http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff75/ph_matrix/stick.jpg StickyMedia Solutions is a youthful and IT-savvy bunch jammed together by kismet in a cool, southern corner of the Philippines. We call ourselves “sticky” for several reasons, of which the most outstanding is it’s being an Internet term that refers to a website’s ability to retain visitors. It could be an application, a service or helpful information that keeps one on a website. With every website we conceive, every inch of its composition is to attract and keep visitors, and convert them to actual customers of your own. Not only is “stickiness” the ability to retain traffic and visitors; it is also our accord of remaining true to our values and work ethics. Moreover, it also translates to adherence – of us to our clients, and vice versa; we stick true to client satisfaction and giving added value. 3/F Marel II Bldg. Tiano-Gomez Sts. "A survey we commissioned last year showed that 85% of all calls made by respondents who were cellphone owners were local calls made to other cellphones and landlines within the immediate area of the caller," said Edwin J. Pahate, Mindanao market head. "We are now offering BayanTel Span, a landline with a characteristic of mobile service, for this particular market." For P599 a month, subscribers in Cagayan de Oro can make unlimited local calls from BayanTel to any landline and vice versa, including calls to Butuan City, toll-free. The service includes unlimited text messaging from BayanTel to any BayanTel phone within the locality, and would only bill subscribers the "pass-on" charge of P1. "We also offer value-added services like caller ID, call waiting, 3- day calling, call forwarding, speed dialing and security PIN," said Vic Pardo Rusiana, sales head for Northern Mindanao. "At present, we only offer voice services, but we shall be rolling out data services like DSL (digital service line) by the second semester of this year." Subscribers can choose from three models of fixed wireless phones ranging from P2,200 to P4,200. Portable handsets priced from P2,800 to P8,600 are also available. No landlines or wires are needed to link the phone sets to BayanTel's network. The technology has its constraints, including the encroachment on its assigned bandwidth by competitors in some areas, the degradation of signal and reduction of coverage area, but Mr. Pahate assured steps are now being made to address this problem. Another constraint is the pending interconnection with Philcom, the largest local exchange carrier in this city, with 14,000 subscribers. Although BayanTel phones can now reach Philcom lines, each call is assessed the long-distance toll of P4.50 per call. Mr. Pahate said BayanTel is seeking interconnection with Philcom. http://www.tmcnet.com/usubmit/2007/03/04/2384606.htm boju November 7th, 2007, 01:04 AM Ang ganda ng mga kuha mo @GearX! bariQ November 7th, 2007, 02:05 AM hhmmmm................................ oist... puede ba magamit ko card ko dito dyan sa cdo??? bariQ November 7th, 2007, 02:06 AM gusto ko maglaro ng wow pero natatakot ako na d kaya ng lappy ko :( wowow. private server ba yan? o nagbabayad ka talaga? bariQ November 7th, 2007, 02:07 AM wow ph ha! I like the previous name better, due to the whimsy, but Yna said that she was looking for something easy to remember and that would easily connect with the Cagayan de Oro restaurant-going crowd, and I bow down to the wisdom of the young restaurateur. http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/kitchen1.gif My Kitchen reopened last Wednesday, October 17, 2007 with its newly renovated space, its new menu offering a variety of local dishes which is a mix of Filipino, Chinese, and Western cuisine; and its new schedule- good news for those who would like to eat out for lunch. The late lamented Yellow Tomato used to open very late in the afternoons and onwards to dinnertime. The new schedule: Lunch and Dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, Dinner Only on Sundays, and Closed on Mondays. The new My Kitchen has a bigger interior space since the restaurant office was moved upstairs and its wall torn down to comfortably accommodate more people. Interior walls have been repainted and new lighting installed. Thankfully it still has that homey touch; the books, game boards, and coloring books and pens are still provided by the house -a very good idea if you are dining out with the kids- which makes this place the number one family place for me. The crazy cut mosaic floor is still there, as well as the old broken down piano in the corner that has yet to be tuned. The garden gazebo is still there too, and they have opened up the exterior garden space by installing a wall grille, thus making My Kitchen more welcoming to clientele. Two days before reopening, My Kitchen offered a preview; a one night dinner buffet featuring guest chef Bernard Dee of Guava restaurant in Serendra, The Fort. Mr. Dee, as consultant, was instrumental in the changes brought about to My Kitchen. Guests at the dinner buffet included Olga Fernandez, Ching Lopez, Bong Torrecha, Bobby and Girlie Sebastian, Michelle Du, Dr. Yap, Dr. de Leon, Ms. Gloria See, and of course the Varias clan which includes the Ramos, Quitos, Alagadan and Palaganas families. Comments from the clients: “food was perfect,” “very good,” “great!” I also heard some people debating on which tasted better, the baked clams, the baby back ribs, or the U.S. roast beef which chef Yna’s father Boyet Varias said was “not roast beef, it was steak!” On Friday October 19, 2007, renowned Filipino musician Ryan Cayabyab was in town for lunch, together with Integrated Performing Arts Guild (IPAG) founder Steven “Tibo” Fernandez, before going to Marawi and Iligan City to audition young singers for a new band he was forming. And where else would they dine but at My Kitchen? While there, Mr. Cayabyab picked out a perfect spot for a musician and his guitar. The artists had for an appetizer, Bolinao Tempura; then Tinola Lapu-Lapu, Ginataan Sitaw at Kalabasa, Crispy Tadyang, and the Baked Clams. Lunch for the visiting artists was sponsored by the Red Lambago Arts Collective. My Kitchen is in Eparwa Compound, Hayes Extension, Camaman-an, Cagayan de Oro. Apart from delicious pastry, you'll find various decors and other home accessories. http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/gazebosign.gif Gazebo Cafe is quite a cozy and homey place for those wanting to spend time relaxing with a nice warm cup of coffee. For those with laptops, this would be the perfect place to spend time typing away because the place is a free wi-fi zone. http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/gazebo1.gif I have already passed by Gazebo several times during my previous trips to Cagayan de Oro. The exterior piqued my interest but I always forget to go there because of the many errands I have to do in Cagayan. Fortunately, one of my friends from Manila was staying for a while and we agreed to meet at Gazebo for coffee. When we met each other there, she was raving about the good food, great coffee, and genius free wi-fi. She would spend countless hours working on her laptop at Gazebo Cafe. http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/gazebo.gif Since I was still full and only needed a drink, she recommended their iced tea, so I had an order. True enough, it was very refreshing and not too sweet. It had a blend of citrus flavors that quenched my thirst. My next trip after that meeting, I made sure to go back to Gazebo to have a try of their meals. I got to Cagayan around 9pm. When I made way to Gazebo, it was already closed. It was only open until 8:30. So I went back the next day for lunch. For lunch I ordered the tuna and mushroom pasta and frozen coffee (I forget the name). The coffee was delicious! It wasn't too strong, plus it had a nutty taste that I enjoyed very much (must be the flavor I chosen). It was thick but not too thick that it was hard to drink. The pasta was also superb. The toasted garlic bread went well with it. The sauce was creamy and they were very generous with the tuna and mushroom; and the whole time I was eating, I was browsing through internet sites. In another room of Gazebo, there is furniture and decor for sale. Some of the stuff looked like it came from Bangkok and Italy. The wooden furniture for sale was lovely, the kind that would furnish small-town London kitchens, I would imagine. There were also paper lamps, similar to those displayed on the ceiling of Gazebo. It was just a marvel to window shop the things for sale. http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/gazebobar.gif I am definitely going to try the other pasta and meals on the menu of Gazebo! My friend has other recommendations which I have not tried yet and my first experience with their pasta made me want to go back for more. Hot coffees range from P50-70. Cold/Frozen coffees range from P70-P100. Pasta ranges from P90-130. Sandwiches range from P60-P100. source (http://www.igougo.com/travelcontent/journalEntryDining.aspx?Caption=Cagayan_de_Oro_City_restaurants&EntryID=37925) zoroethgenre_003 November 7th, 2007, 06:26 AM ah tnx..i hav really gud time in CDO..by d way, i was so amazed with your river there, how the people have kept it clean, considering its proximity to the urban sprawl? zoroethgenre_003 November 7th, 2007, 06:27 AM one negative comment for CDO is this..Grabe ung traffic, although you've got wide avenues and streets.. bariQ November 7th, 2007, 06:30 AM so makakatawag ka din sa bayantel sa manila? So phenomenal that the city's population doubled in 15 years. The local gov't's planning was overran by its progress. The only wide road (4-lanes) in the downtown is Velez St. This is why the city built the Bulua Market Complex (west), the development of Uptown CDO and Pelaez Bridge (south), JR Borja Extension (east) and the Puntod-Kauswagan Bridge (north) primarily to decongest the city proper and further expand the development. The previous project was the development of Agora Market and Bus Terminal in the 1990s and we all know the progress has made it congested and development was further in the city suburbs. zoroethgenre_003 November 7th, 2007, 06:42 AM nag wat man ka ato sa cdo pre? The previous project was the development of Agora Market and Bus Terminal in the 1990s and we all know the progress has made it congested. ah..ic..juz like zambo! very narrow ung streets..kasi walang proper planning.. bariQ November 7th, 2007, 06:44 AM yup...it's because the development of the city wasn't planned. So phenomenal that the city's population doubled in 15 years. The local gov't's planning was overran by its progress. A P5,000 worth of scholarship subsidy is provided to help job seekers acquire or upgrade their competencies through training programs that are directly linked with existing call center job markets. In a statement, Tesda Regional Director Silvano B. Maranga said this program provides an opportunity to build a promising career for those currently employed but are ready for a career change, underemployed or unemployed, with or without experience, and are willing to undergo training as call center agents. He added that for this year, Northern Mindanao received an initial 500 ProSpeak 7 online pre-qualification assessment slots with the following breakdown: 200 slots for Misamis Oriental; 100 each for Bukidnon and Lanao del Norte; and 50 each for Misamis Occidental and Camiguin. Free-of-charge on-line oral tests using the ProSpeak 7 software are conducted in all Tesda provincial offices. Applicants may be "near hires" of call centers, at least two years in college, 18-55 years old and articulate in English. Applicants are advised to bring one copy 2x2 size ID picture, two copies of 1x1 photos and one valid identification card. Qualified applicants will undergo a 100-hour training in any of the three accredited training institutions, namely: Pilgrim Christian College and Asian College of Science and Technology both located in Misamis Oriental; San Isidro College in Bukidnon; and Informatics Computer Institute-Ozamiz Center, Philippines, Misamis Occidental. This scholarship opportunity is under President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s Training For Work Scholarship Program which intends to provide skills and competencies to job seekers through appropriate training programs. In 2006, a total of 481 scholars graduated from this training program out of which more than 200 were monitored employed in various call center companies. Interested parties are advised to contact the Tesda Provincial Offices nearest them. http://www.sunstar.com.ph/static/cag/2007/04/30/bus/tesda.opens.call.center.programs.html GearX November 7th, 2007, 08:19 AM http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/IMG_0149.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/IMG_0228.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/IMG_0241.jpg GearX November 7th, 2007, 08:20 AM http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/normal_6.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/4.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/normal_3.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/volume.gif http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/volume2.gif GearX November 7th, 2007, 08:42 AM Mapawa Adventure Park We went to Mapawa Adventure Park where years before, the staff of GMA7 visited for their Extra Challenge show. And yes, we did the courses and somehow survived! Going to the river trail challenge, we rode what i call a monster truck. Then we trek for at least 1 hr through a corn field it felt like we were in some part of the The Signs movie. Then here comes the real challenges: First Challenge: 25-ft Water Slide. One has to sit on top of the fall, hands behind their neck then someone pushes you down. i screamed! . In all honesty, this is the first time that i have freely plunged down to a body of water which is more than 6 ft below. When i went down, i thought i was going to drown because all i can see above is a ray of light. I kinda crawled and when i was able to reach the top, i kinda inhaled some water (ouch!). This took about only a few seconds but to me it felt like more than five minutes of agony. At the bottom, 2 guys will guide you to a rope leading to a riverbank. One might ask, is there a way to escape this? The guide said you had to do a trek atop the riverbank which is more scary because snakes are abound. Yeah right... But the thing is, even if you don't know how to swim, you can still do this. I did! http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/3347912-My_First_Challenge_25_ft_Wa.jpg Second Challenge: 20-ft Jump. Okay, in all honesty, i failed on this one. After the first challenge and trekking along the river where at times i had to use my butt to slide down else i'll drown, i failed this. I was so scared so as a consequence i had to climb my way through rock boulders, holding only to tree roots and branches to reach our next destination. sigh Third Challenge: 65-ft Rappelling & Rock Climbing. My picture on this one is on my homepage as of this writing (3/11/07) and will continue to stay there unless i met with another challenge. Okay, so i'm really proud to say that for this one, it's by far the most challenging feat i've ever done! It's my first time to rappel and rock climbing. And to do it for a 65-ft challenge??? Well, i'm really proud of myself :) 2 of my friends didn't do this. I was about to back out but then, i saw that others did it so i tried. If they can handle guys bigger than me then i told myself it's probably safe. Actually, going down, i had to put my faith on the guys guiding my rope. And i had this sensation of pure thrill hanging about 60ft above the ground. However, going up is entirely a different thing and i had to use my brawns and brain to get up. And note to self, it pays off to hit the gym at least 3 times a week to build my stamina. So all i can say to myself is "Good job girl!" and of course, "Thank God!" . source (http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/95284/76c/) ph_matrix November 7th, 2007, 08:58 AM http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff75/ph_matrix/gold1.jpg http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff75/ph_matrix/gold2.jpg http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff75/ph_matrix/gold3.jpg http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff75/ph_matrix/gold4.jpg http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff75/ph_matrix/gold5.jpg http://www.ebs.com.ph/cdoitgoldmine/ GearX November 7th, 2007, 08:59 AM http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/were-here.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/the-diamond-marks-the-spot.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/nagupot-si-wylla-ni-Manong.jpg Rappeling http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/rappeling-Nina-style.jpg Walk on wire http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/murag-wa-nahadlok.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/dedes-first.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/whoooowheee.jpg Ziplining over rocks http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/hangin-sexy.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/Batzbooiiii.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/Des-100-m-zip.jpg Kiddie Horseback Riding http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/horsecopy.gif GearX November 7th, 2007, 09:05 AM http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/SUN3.gif The Taste That Sticks http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/img_017w8.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/SUN.jpg Sunburst Fried Chicken http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/SUNCHICK.jpg Chicken Skin and Chips http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/SUN2.jpg GearX November 7th, 2007, 09:15 AM A 2005 photo of CDO showing Maxandrea Hotel in the background... http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/cdo2005.jpg are you thinking what I'm thinking? GearX November 7th, 2007, 09:18 AM Night Café again...
