ph_matrix December 15th, 2007, 08:32 AM CR ra yata itatayo nya doon :lol: bell tower imong tukuron? ph_matrix December 15th, 2007, 08:40 AM I would suggest yong from SM na road yong e fly over, para yong going macanhan ug basurahan walay traffic.. I will create a pic on this to show you how it look ehhe pag balik ko na sa cdo ;) i dont think it's gonna be a "left-turn" flyover since it's not gonna make sense. there are more vehicles plying the Mastersons-Vamenta than Vamenta-Macanhan Road, so the earlier should be prioritized. but that's imposible for now coz that portion of mastersons ave has only 2 lanes, thus a flyover would prevent a right turn(from the airport) to Macanhan and right turn(from Calaanan/landfill) to the airport. So i guess they would widen that portion of Mastersons by acquiring properties on both sides of the road. ph_matrix December 15th, 2007, 08:52 AM :lol::lol: , bantog ra nag talikod pag pics.. brief man na kanang brute ang brand :D bariQ December 15th, 2007, 09:14 AM congrats to mr. ian T, PhD, CCNA :applause: :applause: 1up! ph_matrix December 16th, 2007, 03:10 AM ^^ MCP pa gyud, many thanks to all ! bariQ December 16th, 2007, 04:24 AM nax. abroad na lugar dayun. :D Farirah December 16th, 2007, 12:11 PM Maka. This was disclosed by City Tourism Officer Imma Rae D. Gatuslao after a group of sightseers led by City Mayor Constantino “Tinnex” Jaraula and officials from Promote CdeO Foundation, Oro Chamber and the Horsemen Association of Cagayan de Oro went to the cave site recently to conduct an ocular inspection. Gatuslao said that after the group’s inspection, Mayor Jaraula wants to protect and develop the Calavera Cave as an added tourist destination through public and private partnership owing to its pre-historic value in the history of Cagayan de Oro and good location for outdoor tourism adventures. The cave’s location is a good site for river trekking, horse back riding and site seeing due to its vantage view of the Southwestern side of Cagayan de Oro, Gatuslao stressed. On a clear sunny day, it (site) provides a scenic view of the Laguindingan International Airport and that of the Macabalan Wharf, she added. According to the Historical and Cultural Commission, the Calavera Cave is believed to be an ancient or pre-historic after archeologist Angel Bautista uncovered fragments of a pottery with human and animal bones and pre-historic shells during his exploration inside the cave in 1992. (Rubelyn B. Yap/CIO) ph_matrix December 17th, 2007, 02:31 AM ^^ sakit kaayo akong lawas oi.. grabe ka hubog na gabii :drunk: GearX December 17th, 2007, 02:31 AM JR Borja bridge to start next year (http://themindanaocurrent.blogspot.com/) The sixth bridge that would span across Cagayan de Oro River will rise next year after the Department of Public Works and Highways is readying the final stage of the project’s technical plan, according to City Mayor Constantino “Tinnex” Jaraula. Department of Public Works and Highways-10 Regional Director Sinaulan Macarambon and her technical staff met with the city mayor to further review and study the development plan of the proposed bridge project. The construction of the 250 linear meter-long, Spanish grant bridge project that would link between the heavily-congested J.R. Borja Street in the city proper and Suniel St in the densely-populated barangay Carmen will hopefully start either in March or April 2008, Mayor Jaraula said. During the meeting, Mayor Jaraula however asked the DPWH-X regional director to consider the height and elevation of the J.R. Borja Bridge as it might affect the total physical development of the proposed river boulevard project of the city government. The river boulevard development is a priority project conceptualized by Mayor Jaraula as part of his thrusts and vision to boost tourism-related activities along the Cagayan de Oro River through the construction of a walking bridge with a café station, a river boulevard, a high-rise fountain in the middle of the river, a multi-level rotunda building that would house a mini-library and museum. As mutually agreed, Mayor Jaraula and the DPWH officials will meet on this week to present development plans of identified high-impact infrastructure projects both from the local government and the national government in order to come up with an integrated city development plan. With the integration of plans, the mayor stressed that it would make more manageable and practical for both the city government and DPWH to identify priority projects and sourcing of local or national funds. Among the priority infrastructure projects mentioned by the mayor include the construction of a flyover at crossing Macanhan area in barangay Carmen in anticipation of traffic congestion once the Carmen-Macasandig Bridge, the city’s fifth bridge, operates. Mayor Jaraula also wants an integrated plan of the city’s vital drainage system after noting that some major roads and streets of the city gets easily submerged from overflowing open canals, creeks and clogged drainage during a heavy downpour. Among the critical drainage network system that needs immediate upgrading and/or renovation is the stretch along J.V. Seriña Street-City Hospital area in barangay Carmen and the national highway fronting Mindanao Polytechnic State College (MPSC) portion in Lapasan, the mayor added. The Manila-Laoag (11:50 a.m) and the Laoag-Manila (1:25 p.m.) flights on Saturday was canceled to give way to passengers stranded in Butuan and Cagayan de Oro. Cebu Pacific Vice-President for Marketing and Product Candice Iyog said the they are calling all passengers affected by the canceled flights to and from Laoag so that they won't go to the airport anymore. They will also allow refunds and rebookings. More than 700 passengers were stranded after five Cebu Pacific flights were canceled Friday due to damaged planes, ABS-CBN News learned. Iyog said that two of their planes experienced technical problems, causing flights bound for Bacolod (4:40 a.m.), Legazpi (7:10 a.m.), Cebu (8:40 a.m.), and Butuan (11:10 a.m.) to be canceled in the morning, correspondent Timi Nubla reported. Another flight, a 3:05 p.m. Cagayan de Oro flight, was also canceled. The stranded passengers were given free flight tickets to any domestic destination, while others living far from the airport were housed in hotels. Other passengers were refunded of their fares, while some were transferred to other airlines. The remaining 101 stranded passengers will be placed on other outbound flights Saturday. As of Friday evening, one of the problems that had technical problems was back on service. Passengers affected by the cancellations are advised to call the Cebu Pacific hotline at 702-0888. i hope to have one of my future flights cancelled...hehe...one free ticket..i havent availed that eversince. its a long way to go for the miles. GearX December 17th, 2007, 02:57 AM BOC's VASPs to soon service Subic, Clark, CDO (http://www.portcalls.com/html/news/news20071107.html#a) THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) will expand operations of its three accredited value-added service providers (VASPs) to three sub-ports by month’s end. “By the end of the November, we will be expanding the reach of the VASPs to the sub ports of Subic, Clark and Cagayan de Oro that will led to the eventual phase-out of the EECs (entry encoding centers) in those areas also by the end of the month,” Customs deputy commissioner Alexander Arevalo said at the sidelines of this week’s VASP briefing and seminar organized by the Federation of Accredited Customs Brokers and Forwarders of the Philippines, Inc. “As early as two months ago, BOC could have expanded the VASP operations but decided to defer it until the resolution of several issues such as VASP gateway operations in provinces as well as proper information on EEC workers to be displaced,” Arevalo, who also chairs the VASP accreditation committee, added. The EECs are being phased out through direct orders from the Office of the President. The shutdown is meant to reduce human error in customs entries as well as give the accredited VASPs free hand to handle customs data. By end-November, the number of closed EECs in various ports would have jumped to eight. The eight EECs handle 80 to 85% of all lodgments at the BOC. The remaining five EECs, handling the balance of transactions at the BOC, are scheduled for shutdown by the year-end. The EECs at the Port of Manila and Manila International Container Port have been closed since October 23 while the EEC at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport was shut down only last Monday. Also last Monday, the BOC began rejecting entries filed by customs brokers unless they are registered with any of the three BOC-accredited VASPs — Intercommerce Network Service, Cargo Data Exchange Corp, and e-Konek. ph_matrix December 17th, 2007, 03:03 AM ^^ WOW CDO ! :applause::applause::applause: GearX December 17th, 2007, 03:07 AM ^^ Any picture about this cave ? mas chada pani sa Macahambus ? perhaps @Farirah can provide the photos... red_jasper December 17th, 2007, 03:13 AM CDO Port taken yesterday.. http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff75/ph_matrix/cdo-port1.jpg http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff75/ph_matrix/cdo-port2.jpg http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff75/ph_matrix/cdo-port3.jpg nice  i will be able to see and experience the ambiance this port by the 21st... In a document provided to PortCalls, Minfesa said Mindanao shippers are unable to benefit from economies of scale as operators only deploy container vessels of about 2,000 gross registered tons or around 250-TEU capacity. Given this situation, the group said it is not surprising that domestic freight rates are high. It added that the Phividec Industrial Authority should also aggressively promote the MCT to shippers and shipping lines and offer a lower tariff. “…domestic shipping lines should deploy a bigger vessel with a capacity of more than 1,000 TEUs to reduce the unit cost of the cargo. If the unit cost will be reduced coupled with cargo consolidation, freight rates will definitely go down,” Minfesa stressed. “Local shipping lines should also consider entering into a joint venture with foreign lines and use the latter’s bigger vessels with capacity of at least 1,000 TEUs for the Manila-Cagayan de Oro route,” the group said. ph_matrix December 17th, 2007, 03:19 AM ^^ Another wow CDO ! bariQ December 17th, 2007, 03:30 AM Hehehe TY, mag take na pud ko CompTia Linux + rong January ;) shet! taasa na dayun imo ngalan. pag law nalang pod dayun og dr. :D atty dr ian t mpd, ccna:lol::lol::lol: bariQ December 17th, 2007, 03:32 AM due to the ever increasing community of Koreans in CDO, di pakasali yung Hanjin...Whitewater Adventure advertisement meron ng Korean translation...^^ http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x287/GearX_2007/another/tourism/deoro1.jpg nice.sana lagyan din ng chinese, kase marami din sila  GearX December 17th, 2007, 03:37 AM RP, South Korea sign EDCF project (http://72.14.235.104/search?q=cache:Ga72QMdpm5cJ:philstar.com/index.php%3FLocal%2520News%26p%3D54%26type%3D2%26sec%3D2%26aid%3D2007121429+RP,+Korea+sign+supplemental+loan+agreement+for+Laguindingan+airport+project&hl=tl&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=ph) Friday, December 14, 2007 05:35 PM The Philippines and South Korea have signed the Arrangement for the Supplemental Loan from the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) for the Laguindingan Airport Development Project in Misamis Oriental. Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo and Korean Ambassador Hong Jong-ki signed the arrangement allocating a supplemental loan of $8.2 million from the EDCF facility. It amended the original Loan Agreement worth $62.75 million for the airport project that was signed on Feb. 24, 1998. The Laguindingan Airport Development Project aims to expand and improve civil aviation infrastructures and ensure safer operations based on international standard practices. It involves the construction of a new airport, including a new runway, taxiway, apron and other similar facilities; new buildings such as passenger terminal building and cargo facilities; and air navigation and support facilities and other airport equipment and vehicles. Amarga THE City Council approved Monday an ordinance authorizing Mayor Constantino Jaraula to loan P500 million to buy back the Cogon and Carmen public markets. With the money, they also plan to construct the legislative-executive building and purchase heavy equipment. But opposition councilors Teodulfo Lao and Zaldy Ocon likened the move of buying back Cogon and Carmen public markets as administration party PaDayon Pilipino's "attempt to correct a mistake by creating a major mistake." Lao is even calling for a review of the two Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) contracts the city government signed with UKC Builders, Inc. during the administration of former mayor Vicente Emano, the titular head of PaDayon Pilipino. The P500 million loan is seen by the opposition as compounding the already P3 billion in liabilities and equity of the City Government as reflected in the Commission on Audit (COA) Annual Audit Report 2006. Budget and Finance committee head City Councilor Simeon Licayan pushed an ordinance to authorize Jaraula to negotiate for a loan of P500 million. The amount is reportedly intended for the construction a legislative-executive building adjoining the current City Hall area along the riverbank and for the purchase of heavy equipment. When the amount of the loan drew flak, the legislative measure was returned by Jaraula to now read as an authority to negotiate for a loan of P300 million for the construction of the legislative-executive building and for the purchase of P90 million worth of heavy equipment. Amendments Later, it evolved into an ordinance that now stipulated the name of the banks from whom Jaraula is authorized to negotiate with. Licayan said the legislative measure should amend all the previous ones but this time it would not be P300 million but raised to P500 million to now include the purchase prices of the BOT contracts for Carmen and Cogon. The move was opposed by Lao and Ocon. They were however outnumbered by the PaDayon Pilipino city councilors. Majority of these PaDayon Pilipino city councilors are the very same officials who earlier approved the BOT contracts for Carmen and Cogon. Lao objected to the proposed ordinance saying that the P500 million to-be authorized for loaning out is an amount that has no basis. He said the BOT contracts need review considering that the projects were undertaken without feasibility study and that to buy them back may further compound City Hall's liabilities. "I stand by my objection to it," he said. Ocon echoed Lao's objection and added that he would want to know how much of the P500 million would go to the pockets of UKC Builders, Inc. This considering that the Redevelopment of Cogon Public Market costs P252 million and the Carmen around P118 million and that the City Government has already subsidized the operations of the two markets by P39 million. Buyout Licayan said the ordinance is only for Jaraula to study and negotiate for the P500 million loan. Majority Floor Leader City Councilor Ramon Tabor said the "detailed computation" as to how much would be paid to UKC Builders, Inc. will still be subject for the approval of the City Council. "Because I myself would want to know how much is our standing balance and how much will we pay for the two markets," he said. The BOT contracts for both markets contain the conditions that would lead to a "buyout" include "changes in circumstances." It states that when there is a law or regulation or as a result thereof, even including an interpretation of the same which became the basis of City Hall's entering into agreement, it produced a condition whereby either the UKC or City Hall's economic return on its investments is "materially reduced, prejudiced or otherwise adversely affected" a buyout is allowed. It mandates the City Government to give UKC not less than 90 days notice that it wishes to close the BOT deal. It further reads, "The City Government shall purchase all the project proponent-operator's (UKC) right, title and interest in and to the facility, and thereupon all the project proponent's obligations under the Agreement shall cease." http://www.sunstar.com.ph/static/cag/2007/12/18/news/opposition.questions.loan.measure.html jhunix December 17th, 2007, 09:18 PM BWORLD Article - Dec 18, 2007 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vol. XXI, No. 101 Tuesday, December 18, 2007 | MANILA, PHILIPPINES Corporate News Floirendos to venture into property development PANABO CITY, DAVAO DEL NORTE — The Antonio Floirendo Group (Anflocor) has decided to venture into other businesses besides agriculture. Antonio Floirendo, Jr., company vice-chairman and former Davao del Norte representative, said the plan to diversify — particularly into real estate development — would be implemented in the next five years. He said there were already initial discussions between Anflocor and the Ayala Group for a property project in Cagayan de Oro City in the "medium term." Anflocor and Ayala have an existing joint venture for the development of a nine-hectare mixed-use commercial complex located at the Davao City’s Bajada district. The project is expected to cost over P2 billion. Anflocor is among the country’s top banana exporters with annual trade receipts approaching $100 million. The Ayala Group, on the other hand, maintains a considerable land inventory in northern Mindanao, specifically in Cagayan de Oro City. "We will continue to diversify. We don’t want to be stuck in agricultural development," Mr. Floirendo told BusinessWorld during his birthday celebration at the offices of flagship firm Tagum Agricultural Development Corp. Leisure project Mr. Floirendo said the company was also planning to develop another property in Tagurano, Toril district. Tagurano is near the foot of the country’s tallest peak, Mt. Apo, and is ideal for eco-tourism. Anflocor operates a meat-processing complex under Nenita Farms in nearby Marapangi, also in Toril district. "We have been successful in land banking, so we will now make use of these properties (for investment purposes). We will go into more land development projects," Mr. Floirendo said. New hotel As this developed, Damosa Land, Inc., a subsidiary of Anflocor, recently opened the Microtel Davao Inn and Suites. The hotel is the first partnership in Mindanao between the Floirendo group and Microtel Inns and Suites Pilipinas. Jose Mari del Rosario, Microtel president, said the opening of the hotel could lead into more joint ventures between his group and Anflocor. "Davao City is a growth area and we feel that it is the center for business in Mindanao," said Mr. Del Rosario. Partners "We feel very good with partnering with the Floirendos to be able to put a franchise here in Mindanao," he added. "We also hope that this partnership will continue to bear fruits in the future," said Don Antonio O. Floirendo, chairman of Anflocor. The new hotel, which is located near the Davao International Airport, is the sixth Microtel in the country. The hotel has access rooms for the handicapped and "healthy-for-the-back beds" in every room aside from cable television and Internet connection. The hotel also has a function room that can accommodate 200 guests. Microtel spent P100 million for the construction of the new hotel, which is one of the 280 built by the hotel chain worldwide. Constructed during the second quarter last year, the hotel followed the opening of the Microtel in Boracay, officials of the hotel chain said. Microtel officials earlier said that the hotel chain was considering putting up more hotels in key cities in Mindanao, depending on the prospects. — Carmelito Q. Adorador III THE Laguindingan Airport project in Misamis Oriental is not an international airport, and wasn't delayed because funds intended for it were haphazardly transferred to Iloilo as widely reported. Engineer Ryan B. Gico, one of the project's overseers at the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC), clarified these oft-repeated errors as he sought to appraise the Misamis Oriental Provincial Board on the airport's latest updates during the regular session Monday. The Laguindingan Airport Development Project (LADP), Engineer Gico said will only be offering domestic flights, but "of international standards." It will have features of an international airport, which can be upgraded later for international use. "What we are constructing now is a domestic airport and not comparable for example, Davao International Airport," Gico told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro. Gico also said "politics" was not among the reasons why the airport is delayed. Cagayan de Oro Vice Mayor Vicente Emano, who was already a Misamis Oriental governor when the project was conceived in the early 90's, had earlier said that "politics" caused the delay in the airport project's implementation. Emano said funds for the Laguindingan airport construction was transferred to a similar project in Iloilo after President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo fared poorly in Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental in the 2004 elections. President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo bagged a wide margin of victory in Iloilo, where her then political ally Senate Franklin Drilon hails. But Gico said all these were not true. The Laguindingan project had not taken off immediately because its foreign-assisted funds were not released as the project still lacks the domestic counterparts from the government, he said. "The Iloilo and Bacolod airports project had already taken off when the Laguindingan project was still on the preconstruction stage. So there was no transfer of funds from Laguindingan to Iloilo," the DOTC official told the provincial board. Meanwhile, Gico said that as of December 15, the project has secured another set of foreign loan totaling $62.75 million. This funds form part the revised project cost of P7.853 billion which was approved by the government last September. The 2002 projected cost was only at P5.385 billion. Civil works will start January 2008, he added. Gico appeared before the Provincial Board after PB member Francisco Bade earlier expressed concern over the LAPD's status, saying not much of its goings-on are reported or coordinated with the provincial legislature. "Over at Iloilo, work is already being done on its airport project. But we have to realize that funding for the two projects are different since the Iloilo project is funded by the Japanese while the Laguindingan airport project is in turn funded by the South Korean Export-Import bank," he said. Despite this Drilon, then the Senate President, said he would work towards expediting the release of the funding and other requirements needed to fast track the implementation of the airport project. And while then Mayor Vicente Emano welcomed Drilon's statement of support he pointed out that politics caused the delay in the airport project's implementation. Emano recounted that prior to last year's elections the Laguindingan international airport project was identified as the top priority projects to be implemented in the country. However the mayor said things turned around when President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo fared poorly in Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental in the last elections and achieved a margin of victory in Iloilo. "Of course the Senate President won't admit it but the Iloilo airport project was prioritized. That was to be expected but it must be pointed out that the Laguindingan international project was the first priority," Emano said during his "Mayor's Move" program last Saturday. Official says Anflocor to intensify diversification By Carmelito Q. Francisco PANABO CITY, Davao del Norte—The Anflo Group of Companies is set to intensify its diversification of businesses in the next five years as it eyes another partnership with the Ayala Land Holdings Incorporation for property development in Cagayan de Oro City. Former Davao del Norte congressman Antonio Floirendo Jr., vice chair of the company, said there were already initial discussions between his company and that of the Ayala company for the project, but this will not probably materialize until two years from now. “We will continue to diversify. We don’t want to be stuck in agriculture development,” Floirendo told the Times during his birthday celebration here at the company’s main subsidiary, the Tagum Agricultural Development Corp., one of the top producers of exportable bananas in this part of the country. Floirendo said the company was also contemplating on developing another property in Tagurano Toril, although there was no discussion yet on what aspect of development will the area be converted into. Tagurano is near the foot of the country’s tallest peak, the Mount Apo , and is ideal for eco-tourism. “We have been successful in land banking, so we will now make use of these properties (for investment purposes). We will go into more land development projects,” he said. Last month, the company, through its subsidiary, the Anflo Management and Investment Corp., signed a partnership agreement with the Ayala Land Holdings Inc. for the development of a nine-hectare property into a mini-city. The P2.3 billion commercial complex, said Ricardo Floirendo, younger brother of Mr. Floirendo and vice chair of the company for South Operations, will have a commercial center, and information technology park and even town houses. Floirendo said the Ayala by the Ayala company which revealed that young professionals who are members of the middle class want a mall with a garden concept. Aside from this project, the company, through another subsidiary, the Damosa Land Inc. is also running a two-hectare information technology park in Lanang which a call center company, the Link2Support, has been expanding due to the space requirement of the locator. Meanwhile, the elder Floirendo said that the company will strengthen the transparency of its operations as he and his namesake father, Don Antonio O. Floirendo Sr., the founder and chair of the company, join hands in reshaping the company. “We will be transparent,” the younger Floirendo said during his 56th birthday, emphasizing that the company will find new direction as he, his father and siblings handle its day-to-day operations. The family patriarch resumes chairmanship of the company after Davao del Norte Gov. Rodolfo del Rosario, brother of his wife Nenita, retired as its chair on September 1. There were reports that there was animosity between del Rosario and the younger Floirendo as the gubernatorial race in May even resulted in controversy. It all started when Floirendo announced his candidacy for governor of the province even after his cousin, Anthony del Rosario, son of the governor and then the vice governor, already filed his candidacy. Floirendo waa a three-term representative of the Second District of the province to the House of Representatives. This prompted the younger del Rosario to withdraw his candidacy, but his father then announced he was running. When the elder del Rosario announced that he was running for the post, Floirendo withdrew his candidacy as the family claimed it was preserving its unity. Del Rosario then ran and handily beat the incumbent, Gelacio Gementiza, his former vice governor when he held his second gubernatorial rein until 2004. It was in 2004 when the elder del Rosario decided to support Gementiza’s quest for the post as he concentrated on being the campaign manager of then candidate Gloria Macapagal Arroyo for president. Despite the rumors that the younger Floirendo and his uncle were not in good terms, other family members, including del Rosario’s son told the Times then that all was well in the family. ph_matrix December 18th, 2007, 04:56 AM CdO intensifies anti-illegal recruitment campaign By janice on Dec 14, 2007 in News by Rutchie Cabahug-Aguhob Cagayan de Oro City — As part of the city government’s aggressive campaign against illegal recruitment, an Anti-Illegal Recruitment (AIR) Help Desk will be put up within the Cagayan de Oro City Hall. Thus assured Mayor Constantino Jaraula of CDO who signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) represented by Atty. Alejandre T. Diaz of the AIR Branch, during a seminar on AIR and Trafficking in Persons Campaign held in the city, recently. “The problem of illegal recruitment in the country has reached such alarming proportion as to cause serious and general concern and foremost among the reasons for its escalation is the lack or low level of public awareness on the modus operandi of illegal recruiters and the pernicious effect of illegal recruitment,” Diaz said. Due to its limited resources to implement on its own a massive and extensive nationwide information campaign that will reach the grassroots level, POEA has launched its Illegal Recruitment Free Local Government Units Program Campaign to enable the respective LGUs to participate in the aggressive AIR campaign in their localities. Meanwhile, the MOU signed by Mayor Jaraula and Diaz provides that the former will direct officials under him to investigate any reported illegal recruitment activity and recommend to POEA the issuance of a closure order against any licensed recruitment entity found to be violating recruitment laws, rules and regulations. “That would not be difficult because as a matter of fact, I have ordered all the ‘Sabak-Sabak’ (Red Houses or night spots and other establishments used as prostitution dens) in the city to be closed in order to promote cleanliness among our people not only physically but also spiritually,” he said. Again, the MOU provides that CDO will assist in the distribution/reproduction and dissemination of AIR information materials, institutionalize the conduct of the Pre-Employment Orientation Seminars (PEOS) and provide a venue and participants for the same, as well as, provide a space for documentary processing of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) during peak seasons. On the other hand, the POEA will make available upon request, the resource speakers for the PEOS and furnish regularly an updated list of POEA-Government Placement Branch vacancies together with travel updates and advisories for dissemination to constituents. It will also provide a courtesy lane for the CDO residents applying for job at the POEA Manpower Registry Division, provided they are properly endorsed by the City PESO and sets up an Ad Hoc body to monitor and coordinate activities to be conducted under the MOU. Likewise, the POEA will furnish CDO through its Public Employment Service Office (PESO) with regularly updated lists of licensed agencies and entities and provide information materials on the campaign against illegal recruitment, such as brochures, pamphlets, posters, as well as copies of recent AIR laws and regulations. That was to be expected but it must be pointed out that the Laguindingan international project was the first priority," Emano said during his "Mayor's Move" program last Saturday. boju2 December 18th, 2007, 06:11 AM Mall kuno itukod diri ingon ang pari sa simbahan diha sa RER matud pa sa ako officemate (unsa gani ngalan anang simbahana?). DOTC explains airport status (http://www.sunstar.com.ph/static/cag/2007/12/18/bus/dotc.explains.airport.status.html) By Danilo V. "We assure the Cagayanons that the best thing we can offer to them is low price and quality service. We truly have an unbeatable price were nobody can beat us," Rosello said. "They help a lot in boosting our economy and in promoting our area. They are one of the firms who avail of our investment incentives," he said. It is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Popularly known by its short name San Roque GK, the group is composed of 32 families organized by the Couples for Christ (CFC) under the auspices of the Gawad Kalinga (GK) program. It is supported by the STEAG State Power Inc. (SPI), the government of Villanueva and Phividec Industrial Authority (PIA). Before they were organized, the families were living in Barangay Balacanas. In 2003, prior to the construction of the210-MW coal-fired power plant in Balacanas by SPI, they were relocated to San Roque Village in BarangayDayawan, where they were given decent housing and comprehensive assistance in health, education, spirituality, skills enhancement, and various livelihood projects. One of the livelihood projects is handmade paper production, an alternative to the Integrated Farming System that was introduced earlier. It was taught in November 2004 to 10 women, who learned how to create handmade paper from abaca fiber, and using the sheets of paper to make artistic cards, jewelry boxes, penholders, and other items. The Dayawan Handmade Paper eventually expanded and improved its designs with the assistance of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Product Development and Design Center of the Philippines (PDDCP), the Advocate of Philippine Fair Trade, Inc. (APFTI), and freelance consultants. The first products made by San Roque GK was a collection of corporate Christmas cards and gift tags, which were sold to SPI in December 2004. But in 2005, they exported to Germany about 10,000 Christmas cards and another 12,000 the following year. The hope of the people of San Roque GK is that their paper products, meticulously designed by hand in a small corner of their new village, will help make stronger friendship and bring families closer in homes and offices around the world. http://dayawanpaper.com/images/steag1884.jpg http://dayawanpaper.com/ Farirah December 18th, 2007, 11:47 AM Oist @ph_matrix, good luck pala sa trip mo. Soldevilla http://dayawanpaper.com/images/sanroq216-.jpg Whenever she puts together bits and pieces of tiny dried flowers and colorful tiny cardboard cuttings of varying dimensions and shapes to come-up with individually handcrafted greeting cards, Emma ponders whose life elsewhere will be made happier with the thoughtfulness of someone sending that piece of craft. At first, getting involved in the GK Handmade Paper Project initiated by SPI in 2004 was just a matter of livelihood driven by a need to augment her husband’s meager income. But as the years passed by, Emma realized that more than just making a living, she is crafting cards designed to send across the greetings of goodwill and friendship. The thought of relations getting strong and friendships being fostered by the cards she make, Emma, together with 10 other women engaged in the project, gives a new perspective to her job. She is inspired to do extremely well by the thought that for every card she makes, a person’s life is somehow made merrier and happier. For the past six months, about 12,000 individually handcrafted greetings cards were assembled as German company STEAG GmbH placed an order for its corporate yearend giveaways. For two consecutive years, STEAG GmbH has become a major client of the Handmade Paper Project, busying them with the task of crafting an aggregate of more than 22,000 cards in two years time. One thousand more cards have been recently ordered by SPIs partner companies in Manila and Misamis Oriental. The women also came-up with novel desk calendars depicting archeological finds and cultural artifacts of their home town Villanueva. Implemented in partnership with the Museo de Oro of Xavier University, the calendar project aims to promote public awareness and appreciation of the rich culture of Mindanao. Emma never expects she will become a well-trained craftsperson and quality-control supervisor for the project. Unable to finish elementary grade due to poverty, she still marvels on the fact that she is now leading this promising micro business in Dayawan --- capable of producing products at par with well-established entities and catering to the highly meticulous clients in the corporate world. But Emma never loses sight of her focus. She and her team must do extremely well in their crafts. More than just assembling greeting cards… they are fulfilling a mission. ph_matrix December 18th, 2007, 11:48 AM Grabe nga skills no.. handmade man gyud. boju2 December 18th, 2007, 11:49 AM ^^Meron pa yung Salay Handmade na pang international na ang mga clients... Antonio Floirendo, Jr., company vice-chairman and former Davao del Norte representative, said the plan to diversify — particularly into real estate development — would be implemented in the next five years. He said there were already initial discussions between Anflocor and the Ayala Group for a property project in Cagayan de Oro City in the "medium term." Still a good news indeed! Oro Chamber president Engineer Elpidio Paras made the statement in a recent General Assembly where the group credited their success to the good relationship fostered with the city government. Paras said the business community envisioned Cagayan de Oro to be one of the most competitive cities in the country due to its advantages over other highly urbanized cities in terms of stable peace and order and vast investment opportunities. Paras saw the city's bright prospect in real estate business as the City Planning and Development Office records show that from 1993 to 2007, a total of 86 subdivisions were established during the period. Twelve of these are high-end subdivisions namely: Mount Meadows Residential Estates, Puerto Heights Village, Xavier Estates, Teakwood Hills Subdivision, Pueblo de Oro Golf Course and Estate, Morning Mist Village, Philamlife Village, Golden Glow Village, Hillsborough Pointe, Richmond Hills Subdivision, Alegria Hills and Tuscania Subdivision. Paras said once the real estate business is on the rise, other related business ventures will also flourish as more giant developing firms come in to invest. More and more people preferred to live in the city after seeing the city's positive economic opportunities, better quality of life and good basic amenities and facilities, added Paras. With a stronger partnership and collaboration between the Oro Chamber and the local government, Cagayan de Oro City would continue to grow bigger and bigger in the future years to come, he concluded. With real estate blooming, Oro Chamber now registered a total of 346 member-companies. LHUILLIER IN FINALS, BIG DEBUT BY MISOR (http://forums.interbasket.net/showpost.php?p=132963&postcount=119) CEBU CITY – M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu City barged into the finals while Holcim MoneyGram-MisOr had a rousing debut as Mindanao Visayas Basketball Association (MVBA) teams continued to dominate their guest teams on the second day of the 2007 MVBA Christmas League at the New Cebu Coliseum Tuesday night. In the main game, MisOr used a strong fourth quarter to eliminate Pagadian City, 92-85. In the opener, M. Lhuillier made short work of Zamboanga City, 112-87, for the first finals seat in the tournament sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (BAP-SBP) and made possible by ML Kwarta Padala, Hotel Fortuna, Nature’s Spring Water, Accel, Reva Sandals, Gameface.Ph, Yayoy’s Grill and Nike Basketball. With Pagadian threatening with a minute left, 81-83, guard Mark Moreño canned back-to-back baskets to give MisOr a six-point edge with 30 ticks remaining, 87-81. After a basket by Mark Yee, Ramil Tagupa sank two free throws followed by a three-point play by Randy Sevilla to seal the win, 92-83. A Yee basket at the buzzer settled the final count. Pagadian was leading after three periods, 69-65, thanks to the 12-point effort of center Mark Benitez in the third. MisOr of Gov. Oscar Moreno and Coach Bong Abad used a 12-2 run to begin the fourth quarter behind Moreño, Tagupa and Sevilla to take the lead for good, 77-71. Rocky Sanchez led MisOr with 20 points while Moreño followed with 15 and Sevilla 13. Pagadian dropped out of contention with its second straight loss despite the 22 markers of Benitez and 16 from Rick Quilo. Earlier, M. Lhuillier breezed to its second straight win and a spot in the finals. The visiting Latinos managed to lead briefly early in the game, 7-2. From there, it was an all-M. Lhuillier show as Marlon Basco, Bruce Dacia and Ronald Capati took turns at punishing the Latinos and grabbing the lead for good, 11-10. Jayford Rodriguez then came off the bench to push the Jewelers further on top after the first period, 28-17 Every player fielded by Coach Raul Alcoseba contributed as the lead ballooned further and further. A triple by Gerry Cavan gave M. Lhuillier its first taste of a 25-point margin halfway through the final quarter, 92-67, a margin they maintained until the final buzzer. Former College of Saint Benilde Blazers Lou Gatumbato and Capati topped M. Lhuillier with 14 points each. Cavan added 12 and Dacia 11. Overall, nine M. Lhuillier players submitted nine points or more. Orlando Daroya paced the Latinos with 26 followed by Michaelo Mendoza and Lawrence Briones with 14 apiece. MisOr wil next play opening day winner Arthro Kontra Arthritis-Cebu tonight for the second finals seat, assuring an all-MVBA finale tomorrow at the Coliseum. The winner will receive 100,000 pesos while the runner-up gets 50,000 pesos. How They Scored: M. Farirah December 19th, 2007, 04:42 AM WOW CDO Again !! The superb friendliness of the people in CdeO as I have noticed for many years in my life, the awesome peace and order situation despite it's in Mindanao, the good climate, and the rapid and steady progression of the city all in all have attracted them to settle here and raise a family. And that's one of the reasons of the rapid growth of population in CdeO since the time of her cityhood. Farirah December 19th, 2007, 04:47 AM So the graphics of Starcraft 2 is now different from the former one. @ph_matrix, is that already the ultimatum of Starcraft's? ph_matrix December 19th, 2007, 04:50 AM most likely, i cant forget that game before, imagina mag dula mi b4 tag 30p/hr pa.. balik games ako nyan pag release nyan. So the graphics of Starcraft 2 is now different from the former one. @ph_matrix, is that already the ultimatum of Starcraft's? Farirah December 19th, 2007, 05:00 AM Nice presentation ha! For me, the key position of CdeO alone as presented by the video is the number 2 logic (after her peace and order situation) why the city has attained a remarkable progression--growth and development. Anyway, the maker is indeed deserving for 5 stars. ^^ Farirah December 19th, 2007, 05:04 AM most likely, i cant forget that game before, imagina mag dula mi b4 tag 30p/hr pa.. balik games ako nyan pag release nyan. I thought it was already released.
