The ugliest in the whole Europe is Jastrzębie-Zdrój in Poland. 100,000 people live in ugly commieblocks!

Warsaw - Praga sometimes looks worse.

In every Polish city You can find places like that, but some cities are all like that, for example Bytom, Łódź, Jastrzębie-Zdrój, Białystok, Grudziądz, Wałbrzych...

Anyway, in Czech Republic there are cities like this too - Most for example.

Lodz i'm fall in love, i love this kind of cities, decadent but -to me- very romantic.

This cities aren't ugly, they only need renovation.

the pics of Łódź and Katowice are very nice. both cities have a certain charme to it which i really like :) ! dont call them ugly!

Actually I think their doing quite a good job, sure colours they use for commieblock renovation are sometimes horrible even for mediaterenean standards but it's possitive that they are doing something and new projects are quite nice, there are some nice high-rises etc.

Are these buildings from communist era or built after the fall of communism?

After having the pleasure of visiting vast number of regions in europe, I've come to the conclusion that some of the ugliest cities in the continent are as follows:

a lot of french cities outside of their old touristic towns, just endless rows of buildings that look exactly alike and mostly painted with this peach color that adds to the blandness of the place. (take for example avignon, inside the walled city is just a marvelous place, but get out of that area and you're confronted with this chaotic, disorganized place full of apartment buildings and banlieues filled with government housing comme blocks.)

geneva, not only is boring, bureaucratic, expensive, but also ugly.... a small city center with very little to offer other than the jet d'eau and of course expensive stores selling watches, lots and lots and lots of commie blocks many not even painted and quite dirty.

those depressing industrial cities in the UK and in Belgium.

Rotterdam, yes it's very modern but it's also sort of weird, it has this plastic feel to it! like u can't really feel the uniqueness or finesse of the city because it's like a movie set feeling!

those coastal horrible spanish cities filled with cheap hotels, polluted overrated beaches that cater to massive working class british and german tourism and commie blocks.

I don't think Lodz poland is ugly... is just a city that needs some investment... beauty doesn't mean clean perfect shinny gentrified cool!!!

sometimes in messy chaotic there is a lot of beauty!!!

I found eastern european cities to be messy and with poorer infrastructure but they had much better atmosphere, cultural things to do, much more interesting things to see, than a lot of these ultra-wonderful, ultra-famous, ultra-chic western european cities that some times strike you as this very plastic gentrified places where u can still smell the fresh paint and after 8 pm there is nothing to do!
