PUYUHUAPI
Región de Aysén




POBLACION: 800 HTS.


Se sitúa en la región patagónica de Aysén del Gral. Carlos Ibañéz del Campo (XI región) del sur de Chile, y al final del fiordo del mismo nombre, enclavada entre la costa marina y los picachos nevados del Parque Nacional Queulat. Se ubica a 44º 19´ latitud Sur y 72º 34´ longitud Oeste, entre Chaitén y Coyhaique, en plena Carretera Austral, que es la vía de acceso más utilizada. Buses interurbanos unen al pueblo con Chaitén y Coyhaique. Otras formas de llegar son por aire y mar. Puyuhuapi cuenta con una pista de aterrizaje sin pavimentar, un muelle para embarcaciones mayores, y una marina para los amantes del yachting.

Puyuhuapi también es famoso por sus termas y sus finas alfombras.

Fue fundado por inmigrantes alemanes en 1935.

Hermosísimo Puyuhuapi. Había oído de ese lugar, pero es primera vez que lo veo en fotografías, las cuales son de una gran calidad. A veces cansa estar mirando tanto edificios falibundos, y los paisajes naturales de nuestro sur chileno son una buena terapia para nuestros estresados cerebros. Felicitaciones!

Oye que hermoso. Es realmente un paraíso. Muy muy lindo todo. Había escuchado hablar del pueblo pero nunca le dí importancia.

En el sur de Chile hay mágicos rincones de enorme belleza :okay:

From Santiago to Puerto Montt, are around 1,100 kms. by a modern highway.

From Puerto Montt you can take the internal rout from Argentina: Puyehue step - Bariloche - Esquel - Trevelin - Futaleufu step and further south. In that case, I recommend that in your return, know the beauty of the patagonian channels, and then hop in a ferry. Or, if you began by sea, back by land.

I like your reference to modern highways. My car (see below) is quite low. But I am not a keen fan on toll highways, which I understand are all the latest rage in Chile. Are there decent side-roads? I am a tourist after all.

Ferries are quite common in British Columbia, Canada (and for that matter in other provinces) for travel. The ones travelling over salt water cost something, while all the ones I've travelled on fresh water in the Interior of Canada have been free. And there are three around here that I use regularly.

I see it takes one ferry from Puerto Montt to the Puyuhuapi area. How long does one ride, and how do I find out where they start and end, and what they cost?

I drive a TDI VW Jetta. Is diesel plentiful?

Well... maybe we are on par for German (ie: the same).

eigentlich, wenn du nach süden Chiles fahren möchtest, ist es immer ein bisschen kompliziert, weil der Kontinent sich austeilt, deswegen hast du viele autobahnen mit hohen Qualität nur bis Pto. Monnt. also, ich empfehle dich, wie beste möglichkeit, nach pto. Monnt mit Flugzeug oder Auto zu fahren, und dann nach coyhaique auch mit dem flugzeug zu fliegen.
aber wenn du Abenteurlust hast, könntest du durch "carretera austral" zu fahren... die ist nicht sehr...mmm.. gut fahren, aber könntest du sicherlich die besten landschaften chiles beobachten.... (mach das, ist doch besser:) )

I found the webpage of the ferry line (www.Navimag.com) that goes from Puerto Montt to Puerto Chacabuco.

Your map also shows a ferry connection from Conchi (just south of Castro) to Chaiten. Which ferry line goes there?
