I agree with you that most Pakistani flyovers look terrible. Very ugly, with mounds of sand/dirt on the sides, rusting/peeling metal bars on the side, ugly graffiti and posters, and worst of all, the people who are always hanging out under the bridges. But this isn't the fault of the people who build them, it's just a problem of overpopulation in our country, how can you stop the flyover from becoming what they become in Pakistan? Only by reducing the number of people always hanging around on/under them so we don't have people littering and tying weird flags to the lightpoles on them :bash:

lahore have just few bridge or underpasses.. at the moment ... karachi have a good road infrastructure.... nice corridors , bridges and underpasses...

The length of that new road is 5 km but not all of it is a bridge as can be seen in the pictures.

Very common. I call it the "kachara culture". Local population is not interested in common area maintenance. Municipalities and local officials budget for capital expenditure but O&M is never as "sexy" and doesn't win votes or help with kickbacks as much or allow for cool ribbon-cutting/dua ceremonies. Also, I mentioned the 10% rule in another thread: once 90% is done, it's hard to ever get the last 10% done.

ONLY the purple & red part is Jinnah Flyover, rest of part over water & circular part is jinnah bridge.
Flyover moves on top from MT Khan road towards people stadium Lyari whereas bridge is circular and moves towards kemari over water.

I never knew this, one of the oldest flyover in Karachi and i got proper info today. So it's the 4th longest.

There's more underpasses in Karachi in places such as Shah Faisal Colony, Mehmoodabad etc. but they're small and usually train tracks passing over a road.

^^They are normally known as tunnel ... Like Mareer chowk tunnel in Rawalpindi. And in Lahore we have do moria pull, 1 moria pull ....

What should Mareer Chowk Rawalpindi be considered, there is already an underpass and now the new project is being called as tunnel, IMO that should also be an underpass? SMFARAZM will let us know :)

Well i think they are also underpasses but not well known. They are without any names and were constructed way back when rail track was constructed.

Marir Rwp can be termed as underpass as it's an important one on major road.

Why there are three tunnels?

Imagery on Google Earth is from June 2012. It is definitely a green belt if you zoom out, it end in a roundabout at one end and an intersection at the other end.
