3. Olympic Indoor Hall | Athens | 18.800

likasz October 23rd, 2008, 05:27 PM Sercan you are Turkish and you don't know that the biggest arena in Europe is Istanbul's Sinan Erdem Dome or in your opinion Istanbul is not an european city?!:-)
www.sercan.de October 23rd, 2008, 06:33 PM :D
Sinan Erdem Dome is still "u/c". And letx wait if they will install the 1st tier whic is moveable (22,500). Otherwise it will be just 17,000
scukaf October 25th, 2008, 11:09 PM but the official web of the Arena says that maximum that Beogradska Arena can host is 19.394 spectators for sport events, and 23.000 for concerts. Some other say that it can host 18.500 spectators for sports, and 25.000 for concerts.
I'm a little bit confused. Objective opinions?

19,982 sound more realistic and as far as i know at Eurobasket they announced the attendance with ~ 20,000

Reason why there was a empty space is because of concerts from the day before and following day, that is the space where the stage is. Since the entry for basketball game was free the guys which lead arena decided not to expand tribunes for that mach so they could build stage for concerts direct after the game easy and fast.
If there were a "normal" basketball (or any sports) game with tickets etc... they usualy add telescopes which are in this case hidden in rooms with that 2 large sliding doors you can see on the wall. Like they did it for tenis (that tennis game was a game with largest attendancy for Davis Cup 20k)
http://mishaeurovision07.files.wordpress.com/2007/05/arena-sport.jpg
This picture is from 2005, telescopic tribunes wern't implemented. They are since 2006 in arena.

23 000 is maximum for sport events, as far as I know. I personally sent e-mail with that question and they give me that answer. So mod may put officialy that capacity is 23 000 seats for sport events.
And you also have information on an official site.
The large hall covers the area of 48 000 m2 and has six levels, the seating capacity of 20 000 - 25 000, depending on the event to be held.

mud777 July 29th, 2009, 01:36 PM The number of fixed seats in basketball configuration is 19.982 so this is official capacity of arena.
You can probably squeeze 30k people inside with people sitting on the steps and in every space they can fit them selves in, but that doesn’t mean that that is official capacity.
Sawovsky July 29th, 2009, 01:51 PM Does it the biggest crowd inside an indoor arena at sport event in Europe ever?
I really don't know that information, probably....

You can probably squeeze 30k people inside with people sitting on the steps and in every space they can fit them selves in, but that doesn’t mean that that is official capacity.
Dude, wach the part i marked for you. Those are seats without telescoope tribunes. At the last game each visitor had its seat. Those digits (22,680, and 22,567) are numbers of sold tickets with number of the seat on each ticket.
Capacity for team sports may go up to 23000 seats, it depend of a decision of an organizer, which capacity he want, due to his needs, security level or interest for event.
Anyway I really don't know why is that so bothernig you? Why you try to disprove something that is official?:nuts:

Misapprehension than.
Belgrade Arena have a various number of telescopes, that can be used for different events in a different setup (depending of an organizer terms I menitoned in a last post) , and point is that with a maximum usage of space and telescopes, speaking about team sport event, total capacity may go up to 23,000 seats like we saw a couple times, and therefore thats a capacity for team sport events. Capacity may also be even lesser then 19.982 that you mentioned, like here on link below, where is about 18, 500 seats.
http://mishaeurovision07.files.wordpress.com/2007/05/arena-sport.jpg
But we don't say that is capacity 'cuz every arena use its maximum capacity, and here that is app 23k.
For concerts it's from 15,000 up to 25,000, depending of people are seating or standing in parterre and upper ring...
Setup like on this picture on a link below + one more telescope in a right bottom corner and we get app. 23k seats for team sports.

Greece December 4th, 2010, 05:58 AM I was watching today and the arena was packed! Will they play there again when they face India in March? Because in February the Fed Cup team is playing Canada, but they will play in Novi Sad instead of Beograd...
makimax December 4th, 2010, 06:03 PM I think, against India Serbia will play in Vrsac, small town near Beograd but i'm not sure.
