thats right incognito. :) but right now the region (VI) is leaping high :) i just hope that they will keep up the momentum with stability.

NOCECO-KEPCO
contract approved
BY
The Energy Regulatory Administration has approved the power supply contract between the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative and the KEPCO-Salcon Power Corp., a deal similar but less controversial than its counterpart involving the Central Negros Electric Cooperative.

The 25 page-decision, posted in the ERC website on November 16, was promulgated on Sept. 19, 2007 by Chairman Rodolfo Albano and Commissioners Rauf Tan, Alejandro Barin, Maria Teresa Castañeda, and Jose Reyes.

The contract, signed by both NOCECO and KEPCO officials on May 24 in Kabankalan City, states that KSPC will supply NOCECO a total of 140,668,397 kWh a year.

Of the total contract quantity, KSPC will source the base load requirement of NOCECO of 87,600,000 kWh from its 200-megawatt New Naga Coal Plant in Cebu . The balance of 53,068,397 kWh will be obtained by the KSPC from the National Power Corp., including the necessary peaking power.

NOCECO covers 16 local government units in southern Negros, including the cities of Kabankalan, La Carlota, Himamaylan, and Sipalay.

GENERATION RATE

The ERC said that upon the implementation of the contract, KSPC is authorized to charge NOCECO the final generation rate of P4.18 per kWh for the KSPC quantity.

The NPC is also authorized to charge NOCECO the provisionally approved contract of proposed NPC time-of-use rates for 2010 with an average of P4.30 per kWh which is the rate determined as of November 2006 or until such time that the ERC finally determines the NPC TOU rate to be applied to NOCECO relative to its application.

ERC also directed the NPC and the KSPC to file within 60 days after receiving the decision a formal application for the approval of their Joint Sales Agreement.

‘LOOMING POWER SHORTAGE'

The decision said, “A perusal of the evidence presented showed that the power supply contract entered into by and between NOCECO and KSPC will somehow address the looming power shortage in the Visayas in 2011 as certification by (the) National Power Corp.”

It added that this will redound to the benefit of NOCECO's consumers in terms of continuous, reliable and efficient power supply as mandated by Republic Act 9136, or the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001 particularly the Declaration of Policy which is to ensure to ensure the quality, reliability, security and affordability of the supply of electric power.

It also said that the contract is consistent with the policy of the state to encourage private sector investments in the power generation, including the putting up of power plants, also as mandated by the EPIRA.

It will also “address the seeming urgency and necessity of putting-up on time the new power plant due to the ongoing privatization of the NPC assets”, it said.

NO INTERVENOR/OPPOSITOR

Unlike in the CENECO-KSPC contract that was signed in July, there was no intervenor or oppositor to the application of the NOCECO and KSPC for the approval of their power sales contract.

During the July 30 hearing in Kabankalan City , no intervenor or oppositor appeared nor was there any intervention or opposition registered, the ERC said.

In Bacolod City , various cause-oriented groups, particularly the Freedom from Debt Coalition-Negros and the Visayas for Renewable Energy, are opposing the CENECO-KSPC contract, primarily because of environmental considerations. They said renewable energy would be a more viable choice – aside from being a clean source of power, renewables like geothermal are not subject to Value Added Tax.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod has also filed an intervention to the case.*NLG

Bacolod warned it risks falling behind Iloilo in IT

BACOLOD — Commissioner Monchito Ibrahim of the Commission on Information and Communications Technology has warned information technology (IT) stakeholders here that they could be left behind by Iloilo City if it will not embark on the same initiative being undertaken by its neighboring city soon.

Mr. Ibrahim, one of the main speakers at the Uniting for Bacolod-Negros Occidental Educational Foundation for ICT Conference and Preparatory Workshop last week, said Iloilo City has already moved ahead with the sale of its old airport property in Mandurriao to property firm Megaworld Corp. which will develop the area into a "city within a city."

Reports said at least six outsourcing companies plan to locate at the 54-hectare Megaworld property where a business park will be built at an initial investment of P1.5 billion.

"This is the reason why I can see that Iloilo is going to move ahead of Bacolod in the next two years, if you don’t have the same initiative," Mr. Ibrahim said.

With the development in Iloilo, he said that outsourcing locators will also hire people from Bacolod and Negros Occidental.

"I just wanted you to realize this," he told the workshop participants, consisting of representatives from the academe, local government, government agencies and IT locators.

However, Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue said that Iloilo is not exactly a threat to Bacolod because it is "complementary to our strategic plans."

Bacolod hosts operations of Focus Communications, Teleperformance, TeleTech, and Convergys.

Both Iloilo and Bacolod are considered "next wave cities" under the Western Visayas Hub, according to the offshoring and outsourcing Roadmap 2010 of the Business Processing Association of the Philippines.

Their combined current number of full-time call center employees of 4,000 is projected to reach 36,000 by 2010.

Among the regional hubs, Western Visayas is second to Central Visayas, which includes Cebu, Mandaue and Dumaguete, with 16,500 such workers and a potential for 47,500 by 2010.

Negros Occidental Rep. Jose Carlos Lacson said a provincial road map for Bacolod and Negros Occidental is in the works.

Economic Activity

Bacolod is alive with economic activity. Trade between the city and other Visayan towns and cities in the provinces of Negros Oriental, Iloilo, Bohol, and Cebu is thriving. Goods from Bacolod reach Camiguin Island, Cagayan de Oro, Dapitan, Dipolog, Surigao, and Zamboanga in Mindanao. Beyond domestic trade, products from Bacolod and the rest of the province are also transported to Manila and on to overseas markets.

Sugar is still the lifeblood of the province, which supplies more than half of the country’s sugar needs. In Bacolod, as of 2003, 7,216 hectares of the city’s 8,560 hectares of agricultural land were still planted to sugarcane. Meanwhile, 915 hectares were devoted to rice, 120 to assorted vegetables, 100 to coconut, 43 to banana, and 34 to corn.

The fresh and processed export products that Bacolod is most famous for include refined sugar, muscovado sugar, fresh green bananas, frozen black tiger prawns, squid and cuttlefish, pasteurized crabmeat, and canned sardines and milkfish. It has also been very successful in promoting its exports of furniture, home furnishings, and holiday decor made from wood, shell, and other indigenous materials, as well as garments.

Business Opportunities

For investors looking for areas of growth in the city, the emerging investment opportunities are in power generation, cutflowers and ornamentals, travel and support services, sports and ecotourism, mass housing, and ICT. The business process outsourcing industry, especially the call center sector, has already discovered the enormous potential of Bacolod.

With its six universities and colleges, the city produces about 5,000 graduates every year to fill and replenish the pool of potential agents. This—coupled with the cheap cost of living, stable infrastructure, and the local government’s continued efforts to improve the ease of doing business in the city—has drawn four call center firms into setting up shop here since the beginning of 2005. Focus Communications, IO Asia, Teletech, and Teleperformance all have operations in Bacolod, with the last being the largest with more than 500 seats. Convergys Philippines and other contact centers have expressed plans to set up in Bacolod as well. The city already has four Philippine Economic Zone Authority-accredited IT parks in anticipation of the requirements of the booming BPO industry.

Thus, as Bacolod City strives to keep its position as a one of the country’s leading economic centers down south, expect it not only to draw on its traditional agricultural products and staple industries, but also to ride on promising investment prospects grounded on the dynamic and competitive skills of the smiling people of the city.

^^regarding that IT article, i cannot understand the emphasis of some of our media regarding this! there is no competition! the gains of one is also that of the other. wether these gains are through spill-overs or because it is the flagship office or vice-versa don't make a conspicous difference, imo! it all boils down to the employment opportunities and other multiplier effects these businesses make! because for sure, employment opportunities created by these companies is not exclusive to the locale were these prospective investors are based!

,Bacolod, Key Cities Form National ICT Federation
The information and communications technology (ICT) organizations of Bacolod and Negros Occidental, Iloilo, Davao, Cagayan De Oro, Cebu and Iligan last week formed the Philippine Federation of ICT Organizations to collectively work for ICT-readiness and competitiveness and promote their respective areas in the Philippine Cyber-services Corridor.
The founding organizations include the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Federation for ICT (BNEFIT) represented by its convenor, Bacolod Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue and IT Schools Network of Negros Occidental (ITSNET) Inc. Chair Mary Tolentino, the Iloilo Federation for Information Technology (IFIT) represented by its executive director Roly Gambol and TESDA - Iloilo Director Lorena Yunque, Cebu Educational Development Foundation for IT (CEDFIT) represented by its executive director, Boni-facio Belen, Davao ICT, Inc. represented by Lizabel Holganza and Andre Fournier of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII), CDO ICT represented by Heidi Grace Mendoza, secretary general of the Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc. (Oro Chamber), and the Iligan Information and Communication Technology and E-Commerce Council (IICTECC) represented by Emmanuel Lagare of the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT).

Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) Chair Ray Anthony Roxas-Chua III, named Philippine's outsour-cing and off-shoring (O & O) czar recently by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, encouraged the ICT local leaders to federate in order to help each other and to have a stronger voice. He reiterated the value of a private sector-led effort that enjoys the support of all sectors working related to human resource or talent development, business environment and government support.

CICT Commissioner Mon-chito Ibrahim, affirmed the importance of developing a multi-stakeholder approach in every city, province or region, and commended CEDFIT for having assisted in the formation of IFIT and BNEFIT. BNEFIT was recently after a two-day ICT conference which was well-attended by all stakeholders in Bacolod, and the cities of Silay, Binalbagan, Kaban-kalan, San Carlos, Sipalay, Bago and towns of Moises Padilla and Pulupandan. The DCCCII, the ICT Davao Inc., and the Mindanao Business Council (MinBC) last month hosted the 6th Mindanao ICT Congress.

The annual event aims to provide a venue for networking, marketing, and business development and creation among ICT players; aims to enhance the human resource development program as the main requirement for business process outsourcing (BPO). The congress usually involves the participation of the stakeholders not only from the Philippines, but also Brunei, Indonesia, and Malaysia as well.

Cagayan de Oro City also hosts the Northern Mindanao Business Summit on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) aimed to identify, classify and organize the ICT players among the chamber members in Northern Mindanao into business organizations that will become the channels of intervention of the various chambers of commerce along institutional development.

Meanwhile, IFIT is the prime mover for Iloilo's annual IT Week aimed at gathering all the IT experts from both government and private sectors to promote Iloilo as one of the IT destinations in the Philippines and to attract IT companies to invest in Iloilo. IFIT Chair is Dr. Glenn Aguilar, Chancellor of the University of the Philippines in the Visayas (UPV).

IICTECC, created under Executive Order 331 of 2005 of Iligan Mayor Lawrence Cruz, acts as the policy-making body on Information Technology development in Iligan and formulates the action plan, as well as manages the implementation of activities towards the development of the IT sector in the city.

The IICTECC, chaired by Lagare and co-chaired by the Iligan Bay Chamber of Industries (IBCI) is clustered into E-Governance, E-Business, E-Learning, and ICT Infrastructure.*

I know Sugarboy has more knowledge about golfing activities in Bacolod but i'm willing to answer your question.Bacolod Golf and Country Club is the one in Bata while Negros Golf and Country Club is in Murcia and you're right on this.

Both Golf Courses will host next year's PAL Interclub Golf Tournament which has attracted number of participants.Next year's edition has biggest number of Groups and Individual Golfers eversince the tournament started.

@Jay, correct, but USLS college of medicine uses Riverside and Corazon Locsin as well. Except for the Nursing, exclusive only to RMC.

RMC should make it exclusive to its nursing students!!! kinukulang pa nga ng procedures mga studyante nila e hahahahaha!!!!

hmmmmmmmm...hehehe..i just wondered why nag close sila, anyway ano malain sa depot haw?

That was a very nasty news few years back, saw it on CNN and MSNBC. If I recall it correctly, I think one of their employee did it for a price from a rival company. You notice that wendy's commercials on local tv became scarce? maybe that's one of the reason.

good evening guys! jay, SUV, meg maayong gab-i sa inyo.hehe

i have a question, the negros occidental golf and country club is the one near murcia right? or is it the bacolod golf and country club?? i'm confused.

negros occidental golf is commonly known as marapara

bacolod golf and country club is commonly known as binitin (murcia)

Maayong Gab-i man sa imo Wildmusic.

Bacolod City public lib conducts story-telling activity

Bacolod City (26 November) -- This city's Public Library conducted a story-telling activity to 60 pre-schoolers of Brgy. 10 Day Care Center recently in line with the celebration of the National Book Week with the theme: "Family Literacy: Reading Begins With Us."

The activity was in cooperation with the Rotary Clubs of Bacolod. The pre-schoolers received crayons and coloring books from the Rotary Club of Bacolod West while snacks were sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bacolod Marapara and the Rotary Club of Bacolod donated 60 pieces kiddie chairs to the Library.

Greta Memoria, Librarian I and Project Coordinator said the activity aims to expose the children to the library and to encourage them to love and read books at an early age.

The project was conceptualized and was lauched in July this year in line with the celebration of the National Children's Book Day. "We thought of coming up with a relevant undertaking for the occasion, and story-telling came about," Memoria said.

Mira Esmeralda Murillo, a former college teacher at the University of St. La Salle and a Master's Degree holder from the De La Salle University of Manila, and is presently the Assistant Manager of Jegabytes Computers, volunteered to be a story-teller. Murillo loves children's literature and she collects children's books popular to kids.

Another story-teller was Rotarian Isaias Iziel Culanag, Jr. who is also Commercial Account Manager of Filipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation.

One of the materials read to the children was the "Basura Monster" story. "It is one way of inculcating to little minds the values of cleanliness and how to protect and take care of our environment," Memoria added. Other materials told were values formation stories as well as entertaining and fun stories.

"We appreciate the efforts of civic organizations and private individuals in promoting the importance of reading, especially to our young children," Memoria said.

To date, a total of 15,923 elementary pupils have frequented the City Library since the start of the year or a total of 36,545 including students from high school, college and private individuals. (CMO/PIA)

Martina settles for 2nd
BY CEDELF TUPAS

Negrense netter Martina Guba yielded a 4-6, 5-7 decision to Natasha Palha of India in the finals of the Bahrain Asian 14-Under Tennis Championship at the Bahrain Tennis Club in Juffair Saturday.

It was the best finish in the singles event of Guba's Bahrain sojourn that also included a stint in the Riffa Views Cup 2007 last week.

Guba, who clinched a berth in this tournament after ruling the Agra Cup Asian U-14 Series in Manila in October, blasted American Natasha Rizvi, 6-1, 6-0, after turning back Anushka Bargava, 7-6, 6-1, in the round of 16 Wednesday.

She advanced to the finals with a straight sets victory over Nicolette Wolny.

Guba, a junior at Doña Hortensia Salas Benedicto National High School, and Adelle Boey of Malaysia ruled the doubles at the expense of Rizvi and Wolny in the Riffa Views Cup, where the Filipino netter also reached the last four in girls' singles.*CPT

Wildlife month celebration in Negros Occidental ends

Winners of various competitions in line with the Negros Wildlife Month were awarded recently, at Robinson's Place, in Bacolod City , a press release from the Negros Forests and Ecological Foundation's Biodiversity Conservation Center said yesterday.

The main feature of the final day was the first Musikalikasan Song Writing Contest. Students were invited to write and sing a song focusing on the environment. Winner was Ziebert Rigg Festano from La Consolacion College-Bacolod with his song “Kalikasan Ating Alagaan.”

Second place went to Lourgielyn Chua Agbon from the University of St. La Salle with “Pangakong Iingatan,” and third was Chris Emmanuel Alejado of La Consolacion College-Bacolod with “Likas na Awit”, the press release said.

Chief judge was NFEFI's Toti Ledesma with NFEFI Administrative and Finance Officer Arlene Ebalde and trustee Robert Harland as members.

Special awards for the Animals of Negros Parade were given to Handumanan High School for the best gimmick; to LCC High School for the best costumes and LCC Elementary School for the most number of participants with some 350 students taking part. All students in the parade wore masks and costumes depicting the endemic wildlife of Negros .

Negros Occidental High School student Alyssa Camille Salvio won the Wildlife Essay Writing contest, with LCC-Bacolod's Alyssa Diazs, second, and USLS-IS' John Vincent Angeles, third, the press release said.

Winners of the Negros Occidental Wildlife Month Quiz Bowl were Jeanie Karen Uy and Kanel Cheng from St. John's Institute; second was John Mark Hermano and Paul Fernandez from West Negros College; Paulo Emmanuel Betila and Roger Esteron from St Joseph School-La Salle who will compete in the Negros Wildlife Quiz Bowl in Dumaguete City tomorrow.

Dr. DJ Darwin Bandoy, curator of the Negros Forests and Ecological Foundation's Biodiversity Conservation Center Bacolod organized the month-long program.

They lauded those involved in the celebration, especially the students who took part, the press release added.*

true that @jaywalker, your figure was almost telling the exact rate of the gals/guys studied from TUP-V who was able to get a fare paying jobs. Well it still be more dependent on the student himself, eka nga nasa diskarte ng individual.
skill wise, i can proudly say that hands-on training really helps.

^^The skills plus being an ethusiastic they earned from the OJT makes the TUP-V grads attractive to some companies.I would say that TUP-V is one of the center of Excellence in Education in Negros and even in WV.ME and ECE have been very consistent in thier board examination exams. Most of the students there are very competitive.(sagad sa discarte ang mga taga TUP-V).What made me said this is because i know a lot of TUP-V grads who performs really well in thier jobs.

Ayala eyeing Bacolod , Davao for BPO space

Key cities like Bacolod , Davao and Cagayan de Oro are being eyed by property developer Ayala Land Inc. as locations for more business process outsourcing space in Visayas and Mindanao , a government press release said.

Marivic Anonuevo, ALI senior vice president and head for corporate business group, said the company is now in talks with potential partners for BPO building projects in these cities.

"Information technology and BPO today is a growing billion-dollar industry worldwide. As one of the major real estate players in the country, we see this as a great opportunity for investment," she said.

Like its projects in Cebu, Anonuevo said ALI will enter into joint ventures to implement its projects in different cities in the Visayas and Mindanao .

ALI is going to provide infrastructure support for more BPO facilities in second-tiered cities as the company has already established its presence in major cities like Makati and Cebu , she said.

In Cebu, ALI recently unveiled its affiliates' latest project, the eBloc BPO building, which is now being constructed at the Cebu Asia Town IT Park, by Cebu Property Ventures and Development Corp., the government press release said.

It is really great to see such major players in the real estate business taking part in Bacolod's economy especially in the BPO sector. The local govt should take advantage of this development in presenting the old Bacolod airport as one of the sites to be considered. But if not, ALI can always tap their property in Talisay(Ayala North Point).:)

Bacolod airport is being eyed by Eton groups this is Lucios Tan group, they might acquired the remaining 17 hectares owned by the city. crossing my finger there will be 4 giants putting BPO in Bacolod, Henry group of SM in reclamation area, Gokongweis at the back of Robinson, Eton Group at the old airport, and Ayala still looking for another 50 hectares land. this will be at the madalangan area, mixed use with commercial same time condo and offices. and this is a real destination heaven in western visayas if this 4 giant company will materialized next year.

Henry's group sm investment, will put up convention center, BPO, and business hotel, location reclaimation area,
Gokongweis group, Robinson;s group of company will put up BPO, Hotels, condo's and offices at the back of Robinsons mall.
Ayala lands is now scouting in madalangan area, for their BPO offices mixed with condo.

Silay airport will open January not December

BACOLOD lone district Representative Monico Puentevella said Monday that the New Bacolod-Silay Airport in Bagtic, Silay would officially open by January 17, 2008 instead of next month.

But Puentevella said all flight tests had already been completed.

The Air Transportation Office (ATO) has a policy requiring 57 days within which to inform all aviation authorities, both domestic and international, that a new airport will open, including international publication of all the data of the new airport, its location, and coordinates.

The congressman also said the McKinley access road would be finished just before the opening of the new airport.

The new airport of international standards was designed for domestic flights but it is up to ATO and the Civil Aeronautics Board if it could be used for international flights.

Only 500 meters are needed to extend the existing 2 kilometer-runway to make it an international airport.

The new airport can accommodate Airbus 330 planes with more than 300 passengers on board.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is expected to be the guest of honor during the opening of the new airport.

Earlier, Arroyo approved the proposed construction of an access road going to the new airport that will pass through La Herencia and Marapara areas in Barangay Bata, Bacolod City.

Puentevella said President Arroyo has already directed the National Economic Development Authority (Neda) to lead the construction of a two-lane access road, which will start early next year and will be financed by Korean Foreign Fund (KFF).

If materialized, taking this access road will only take 30 minutes from Bacolod to the new airport in Silay. (JSG)

I heard that before, but they still looking for another 50 hectares of land near the area of madalangan, they have their own plan at the Talisay, according to my source inside that the future Ayala mall. still crossing the finger.

Thats why Ayala is very aggressive with their present in Bacolod City, they want to be a the first company to put up BPO mix office condo, and hotels. this concepts is a resort style community.

The Active Group Sweetly Optimistic
of Real Estate Industry in Sugarlandia
The beauty of its surroundings, the storied heritage of the province, and its hospitable people have all made Negros Occidental a meeting point for commerce and tourism in the Western Visayas. It is in this context that the Active Group, one of the country’s leading real estate developers, brings more than three decades of experience to the house & lot buyers of its fast-moving subdivision developments in the province.
Showcasing the Active Group’s expertise in delivering a quality of life that goes beyond shelter is Town & Country Negros, now a choice address for the well-to-do. Located in Talisay, just at the outskirts of Bacolod City, Town & Country Negros is a fully developed premium gated residential community with an English country theme — the very first of themed communities that have now become trendy even among other developers in the province. By fully integrating nature in the subdivision’s blueprint, Town & Country Negros features the Active Group’s signature “parks in every block” planted to tall hardwoods, creating greenbelts that provide cool shade as well as fresh air for the entire community. A positive result of the many trees is the presence of various bird species rarely seen in urbanized environments. Keen investors purchasing on cash basis get a 20% discount. Fronting Town & Country Negros is Trafalgar Square—a four-hectare commercial development located right along the Provincial Highway. Its convenient location makes it a perfect hub for merchant stores and offices. To date, 80% of the Trafalgar Square’s water and drainage systems have been completed.

Northwards, development in Villa Cristina in Victorias is in full swing. 90% of the network of concrete roads in Phase I have been completed, while the water and drainage systems are nearing completion with more than 95% of the structures finished. Meanwhile, 45% of the concrete roads in Phase II have been completed. Prospective buyers – who are mostly hardworking overseas Filipinos – will delight in the discount promo and easy payment packages available at Villa Cristina.

Villa Cristina in Canlaon sits on a prime location on the eastern slope of majestic Mt. Canlaon. Here, the development is also going full blast with the concrete roads, curbs, gutters and sidewalks nearly 100% complete. Those who wish to live in this peaceful and picturesque community can avail of discounts and easy payment packages.

In the charming city of Cadiz, Villa Antonella offers a secure, fenced community conveniently located along a new access road at the northern section of the city, very near the National Highway. The concrete road system, as well as the water and drainage network, has already been completed. First-time homeowners who look forward to building a home in Cadiz will delight in available discounts and payment packages that are easy on the pocket.

Lapped by the waters of the northernmost seaside coast of Negros Occidental and straddled by five rivers, Sagay is the scenic site for Hillsdale. The masterplanned residential community is ideally located beside the proposed site of the new local government center of the city. Being made available through affordable packages and discounts are residential lots ranging from 120sqm to 361sqm.

The Active Group’s commitment to create quality communities in Negros Occidental is further reinforced by an upcoming 46-hectare commercial and residential development right at the center of Bacolod. The multi-billion peso project which will be launched soon guarantees the dramatic expansion of Bacolod’s cityscape as well as upgrade the lifestyle of the urban Negrense.

@postergirl: Can you post some interior shots of Sylvia Manor Hotel. If ok, hopefully the main lobby, cafe, and some sample interior shots of the rooms. Suite room shot(if any) would be a delight THOUGH.:)

i'll be at the hotel tomorrow, i'll get some shots and post them here :)

Smile, will that be on a discounted rate or totally FREE???? hehehe.. Just a thought lang, since @postergirl is a SSC forumer here, why not make Sylvia Manor Hotel , SSC_Bacolod forumers' official hotel. If any of our friends, relatives, etc etc is coming to Bacolod our first recommendation should be for them to try SMH. Isnt that lovely? .. THOUGH.:)

hehe..i'd really appreciate it if you would consider this suggestion. but its all up to you guys hehe

what a great idea THOUGH!!!! :) its wonderful. :) can you make a comment on this @postergirl?... What do you think?...we can make SMH as our official Hotel talaga. :) we can have lunch there and have some get togethe diba?...

i'm all for this :D

Exactly the point Smile.:) We sip some coffee(ooooppppss, no-caffeine drinks for Smile pls) and chat til we drop. I suggest we do those meetings at the rooftop if theres a lounge area. Even without it, i think its pretty neat to make SMH our official "unwind" area.:) I cant wait for this to happen THOUGH.:)

there's no rooftop, sad to say. I could only dream hahaha..but there's a new veranda outside the hotel. :)

hahahahaha!!!! i hope postergirl is not around because her internet connection is not working and not because shes pissed off with our discussion...postergirl...pasensya na...huhuhuhuhu balik ka na :) waaaaaaaaaahhhhh

Peace pole installed
BY NIDA BUENAFE

The 4 th Provincial Peace Week celebration opened yesterday with the installation of a “Peace Pole” at the Provincial Park , Capitol Lagoon in Bacolod City .

Vice Governor Isidro Zayco, who led a multi-sectoral group in the installation of the Pole of Peace, said it is fitting that it is permanently installed at the park, which has been declared by the National Historical Institute as a national landmark, to always remind the people, including the provincial officials of the significant role they play in achieving a genuine peace in the province.

The celebration opened with a simultaneous peace prayer during the flag-raising ceremonies in the towns and cities of the province, followed by the launching of peace bulletin boards.

A provincial peace caravan sponsored by the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office, Negros Occidental Cycyling Federation, and the Department of Interior and Local Government passed through the main streets of Bacolod City .

Delegates of the 1 st Council Peace Camp, facilitated by the Boy Scout of the Philippines-Negros Occidental Council also opened at the Panaad Park and Stadium. The campers will be at the site for the whole week.

As part of the celebration, a Basic Course on Transformative Mediation, sponsored by the Pax Christi Institute and Public Affairs Division-Governor's Office will be held today at the Social Hall of the Provincial Capitol.

The event will end with a lantern and quilt parade and cultural presentations at the Provincial Lagoon on Dec. 3.*NAB
