and speaking of Puntataytay beach they already sold the property owned by the Roxas family this area will convert into resort hotel, I forgot the name, it is a taiwanese and korean firm.

The verandas on each floor are really for aesthetic purposes only and are designed to cover the ugly behinds of the air conditioning units. :yes:

The Bacolod Silay does have some problems and Waway is right about potentially dangerous sections. Myself, I love to speed up but I always slow down on approach to the bridge near Ayala as it is on a slight curve and has a depression big enough to throw a fast moving vehicle off its track.

Regarding the lights, I think it is the presence of a lot of trees that causes the reduction of light from the highway lamps.

Overall, I think this highway is still the best in the region and is not riddled with potholes like in most other cities in the Visayas. When I took a roadtrip, I had a lot of difficulty on the highway going to the big city in a neighboring island. The car's bottom scraped the road several times between the RoRo port and the big city. On the suburban area of this big city, I had to swerve hard several times to avoid huge potholes.

The point is, Waway was right about some problems with the Bacolod-Silay Highway and we thank him for pointing it out. However, to say it like it was the worst in the Philippines is definitely untrue.

Bacolod is not a regional capital and receives less monies from the government because of that. To say our city is small and has bad roads and inadequate infrastructure is not polite since it is akin to being compared to the major cities which are all regional centers/capitals.

Bacolod city is just a Provincial Capital and is only in the same category as Roxas City, Dumaguete City, Tagbilaran City, Butuan City. It should not be compared with the likes of Davao City, Iloilo City, and Cebu City.

It only proves that these people in authority have faith in Bacolod's capacity to showcase and handle such big events just like this one upcoming. Well, no need to prove coz Bacolod has since been the site of such big conventions. Maybe due to good infrastructures, adequate hotels/convention facilities and of course the relative peace and order situation across the city. NBSA will be a welcome treat by the time TravelXchange '08 commence.:banana: :)

correct...diba we reacted violently man and even the issue about desperate housewives man...where teri delivered a line against Philippines. Its just normal to act that way. it will just pass.

we pass there often and the car is even highly tinted. makakita man gani ako :) I must say yes, madilim sa bandang unahan ng chicken house. its a private property na kasi yun. and its seldom used by motorist except those who lives there. but not in front of chicken house coz shell is located right in front of it and theres a shell shop din dun at ang liwanag ng place na yun.

Precisely Bo B... bacolod is just a provincial Capital but being compared to Big Cities and thats what makes me proud as a Bacoleño.

All cities has its own imperfections, we have to deal with that. Ours maybe the poor lightings on the street or even worst than that...but we also have great things to credits too.

To waway, thank you for sharing your insights and your observation here in our thread. I was just hoping that you could have at least shared the good side and the bad side, we will be glad to accept it.. after all, thats what real travellers do. Not unless if everything you see in Bacolod is bad. Sorry if you were treated badly here. Its not our way of welcoming visitors in our city. Emotions are in its maximum state thats why it happened. I just hope everything will be ok na. I call the attention of my fellow Bacolod SSC forumers to forget about what happened and move on with the discussions. Its the season of giving and sharing so lets be nice and forgiving.

^^ Ako, i wish that all roads in the city be asphalt overlayed and with markings. Paint the sidewalk corner gutters with yellow and black diagonal stripes. More traffic lights on busy intersections of Bacolod. And most of all, an obedient pedestrians and motorists to all traffic rules/regulations. Even in the absence of a traffic enforcer.:)

about sa bumpy ride sa aton mga dalan dira, i think partially caused din siguro yun nga mga overloaded na cane trucks. :ohno: na ste-stress ang roads natin ng matindi dahil dun, but i guess we have to live to that since sugar industry naman ang life blood ng province natin. constant inspection lang siguro pwede gawin ng mga LGU natin and constant repair lang dun sa nasisirang parts para safe ang byahe for both residents and visitors. :)

actually they're everwhere :lol: coz we have a lot of sugar centrals in the north and in the south of the province. (hmmm...na paminsar ko naman dayon ang mga ethanol plants ta ah - what a great future for bacolod city and negros):banana:

but i hope na once the government center will be completed, the trucks passing the circumferential road will have another route. :)

The famous miniature Christmas Village exhibit by Bacolod 's distinguished artist, Bamboo Tonogbanua, will officially open today at the Northwing Lobby, fronting Event Centre, of SM City Bacolod, a press release from event organizer said.

The exhibit which will highlight SM City Bacolod's Special Holiday is a prototype setting of Tonogbanua's collection of porcelain houses, figures, and electric trains simulating that of Swiss Alp scenery.

When the houses and churches are arranged and lit, they are transformed into a tiny village on a snowy wintry night, which is similar to the Christmas Village tableau originally and now permanently displayed in the artist's home, the press release said.

From one modest table setting as his inspirational design, Tonogbanua's collection has grown bigger and larger. Gifts of miniature objects from friends always add up to his collection.

Bacolod airport is being eyed by Eton groups this is Lucios Tan group, they might acquired the remaining 17 hectares owned by the city. crossing my finger there will be 4 giants putting BPO in Bacolod, Henry group of SM in reclamation area, Gokongweis at the back of Robinson, Eton Group at the old airport, and Ayala still looking for another 50 hectares land. this will be at the mandalangan area, mixed use with commercial same time condo and offices. and this is a real destination heaven in western visayas if this 4 giant company will materialized next year.
speaking of drag race track, they already a site for race track , near silay airport, they still negotiating to some landowner it is a very vast land , will convert into commercial area.
Not 4 plus the Eton group are 5…the scenario is booming... Bacolod is competitive and business-friendly because of our high and good competitive criteria rates... The moment we lose this competitiveness, businesses and investors will go to other places which give them a better deal… But fortunately till now we are out of the blue on progress and development,,,a very blessed boomtown,,,the investment are going higher and brighter
SM's plan is to convert the shoreline into a boulevard similar to the one in Dumaguete. That's according to my dad. Maybe he's been looking over the blueprints that come into the office to be duplicated.

I would prefer to have asphalt overlayed particularly in the downtown area and Lacson-Capitol area. As long as indi gawa ginaagyan sang mga dalagku nga truck (knowing the quality of asphalt that the Philippines is producing). The purpose of having concrete as the most prefered material for highways in Bacolod and Negros Occidental is because of the amount of heavy vehicles plying the island, especially the sugar trucks.

Trafalgar Square is already finished. To date, an office building has been constructed and another commercial building was being built near the Cambridge side last September.

Ayala already owns the land to the south and east of Active Group's development. It is still mostly vacant and is mainly intended for residential development. Ayala might be looking for a huge tract of land that will be comparable to Active's Business Park and not to Trafalgar Square.

fronting of Town & Country Negros is Trafalgar Square—a 4-hectare commercial development located right along the Provincial Highway... Its convenient location makes it a perfect hub for merchant stores and offices... To date 80% of the Trafalgar Square’s water and drainage systems have been completed

^^Mig Suv,i'm not new to travelling.I just want to share some personal advice.If you are visiting a place and you have this feeling that you don't like the place and you are having a bad impression from the beginning ,it's better not to proceed with your travel because you might end up finding negative side of the place and you'll tend to criticize it badly.Or you'll end up finding the faults of the place and you would never enjoy.

Boy,Riverside Hospital has gone along way with it's services.It has changed a lot and it has transformed into a hospital of international standards.Based on your pics, it has a similar arrangement with the hospitals here.

Mig Suv, i have travel in his city and i have some bad encounters during my stay there.I did make some comments in thier thread but it was the good side of thier city.Siguro we just need to understand kasi bihira naman sila makakapagtravel and on domestic points lang.Minsan talaga gamitin mo rin ang utak mo if your making some comments kung ano ang magiging after effect :cheers:

Thats why siguro they are acquiring more equipments to get accredited.
Based to my observation nowadays wala week na wala ko ka kita foreigner na patient. So for me, ayos gd ya ang serbisyo.

Bacolod City solon files bill on tot formula to aid breastfeeding

BACOLOD City - Bacolod Rep. Monico O. Puentevella has filed a bill to address issues on the low success rate of the breastfeeding program of the national government and the poor implementation of Executive Order No. 51, or the "National Code of Marketing for Breastmilk Substitutes, Breastmilk Supplements, and Other Related Products, Penalizing Violations thereof, and Other Purposes."


Housebill No. 3045 seeks to amend sections 3, 4, 6 8 (e) and 12 (b) and repeal section 12 (a) of Executive Order 51.

One of the highlights in the proposed amendment is the abolition of the existence of the Inter-Agency Committee which, under EO 51, was in charge of reviewing and examining advertising, promotion, and other marketing materials.

Under the new bill, the Department of Health shall be responsible for the implementation and enforcement of all provisions of this Code.

Puentevella said the controversy surrounding the public discussion of these issues stems from the ambiguity of certain provisions of EO 51.

A careful review of the International Code of Marketing Breastmilk Substitutes of the World Health Organization or the "WHO Code," shows that EO 51 has not fully aligned with the provision of the Code particularly those provisions pertaining to the prohibition of advertising and promotion to the public of the products covered by the WHO Code.

He said the ambiguity of its provisions led to divergent interpretations and even confusion which could have been avoided if the WHO Code has been adopted.

"Advertising should be distinguished from informational and educational materials on infant formula which are required to be disseminated to healthcare providers," Puentevella stressed.

This bill also seeks to effectively enforce the prohibition of advertising and promotion of infant formula by regulating the use of brand names of infant formula as well as clarify the definition of "breastmilk substitutes," "infant formula" and "complementary food."

Puentevella said it is the responsibility of the national government to effectively implement the policy of promoting breastfeeding through programs with adequate support.

BACOLOD City – Central Negros is growing fast economically and in terms of population. It needs as much as 120 megawatts (MW) by 2011, said Roberto Montelibano, president of Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco).

Ceneco has welcomed the offer of Greenpeace - Philippines to help them find clean energy sources.

"We may even need more. We are beginning to feel the rise in demand because of the businesses, investments and infrastructures being put up especially in Bacolod," Montelibano said.

Montelibano said Greenpeace - Philippines head Atina Ballesteros expressed willingness to help in the efforts of Ceneco for power sources, "in view of the privatization of some government power firms."

Montelibano said Ceneco is in talks with independent power producers (IPPs) to ensure stable supply of power in its area beginning 2011.

Montelibano said Ceneco, which gets its power from the National Power Corporation (Napocor), needs some 120 MW by 2010, based on the projected power demand.

The capital city of Bacolod, the cities of Bago, Talisay and Silay, and the towns of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto are covered by Ceneco where bulk of the power supplied to Negros island goes.

Seven girls are vying for the Miss Teen NOPSSCEA title in a pageant slated at the St. La Salle Coliseum on Dec. 10 at 1 p.m. The competition is part of a three-in-one show that also features pop dance and dance sports competitions.

Rudy Reveche, head of the NOPSSCEA cultural task force, said the winners in the modern and latin categories in the dance sports competition will represent NOPSSCEA in the provincial sports and cultural meet.

The candidates are Lucille Joy Dusaran, 13, of UNO Recoletos - Talisay; Rebekah Mari Remo, 13, of St. Augustine International School; Ayesha Del Castillo, 16, San Agustin-Bacolod; Marynor Therese Madamsila, 13, UNO-Recoletos; Mary Catherine Abayen, 16, La Consolacion College; Meilyn Oquindo, 14, of La Consolacion - Gardenville; and Liset Palon, 16, of Silay Institute.

Reveche also said the grade school level pop dance competition is slated in February at the UNO-Recoletos Gym.

Haay guys, if you believe that Waway has his own motives/agenda on posting such criticism, you should have given him the benefit of the doubt. It's really funny kay daw ka hot gid always sang Bacolod Thread and despite of this happenings,Bacolod SSC forumers had always stay in thier turf.Kung sa giyera pa,kita lang diri pirmi gina attack kag wala gid gapang attack.I think this show that we are such a peaceful people in real life and never meant harm to anyone..:)

I would like to take an example sa iban nga thread,di na ko magmention para wala gamo.The other city post negative comments to the other and the other as part of defensive attack to other city they also throw negative post to the other city until things and issues get worst.Funny isn't it? Most of us have visited thier city and we always share the best part of our stay. Imagine if Bacolod forumers would also do the same thing.But the good thing is we don't do it because we know and understand what will happened.

A Training on Advance Technology in Meat Processing will be held on Dec. 5 and 6 at the Negros Federation of Sugarcane Planters Training Center in Alijis, Bacolod City .
