^^ amo gid na migs, others are just saving. Its too costly to pursue those exams in nursing. CGFNS pa lang you'll be paying $418 na. you also need to get NCLEX and IELTS. Thats why call centers are of big help gid sa aton ciudad. :)
but, on the other hand, others are simply overwhelmed by the offers of these companies and that they opted to set aside their caps and lamps and pursue the job as call center agents :)

IN BACOLOD
SP to take up P1B
proposed budget
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO
Bacolod City 's proposed budget of P1 billion for 2008, which was submitted by Mayor Evelio Leonardia to the Sangguniang Panlungsod in October, will be taken up in its regular session today.
Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson said they held a committee hearing on the budget yesterday and he believes it will be passed today.
Leonardia said the 2008 budget has an increase of P245 million from last year's P755 million. The increase of 32 percent is unprecedented and is among the highest ever for any local government all over the Philippines , he said.
Iloilo will only have a P930 million budget next year, Leonardia said. “In other words, we have regained our position after Iloilo overtook Bacolod in the early 2000,” he said.
Leonardia said that from the 1960's to the 1980's, Bacolod always had a bigger budget than Iloilo . But sometime in 2001, Iloilo overtook Bacolod that he even congratulated Iloilo Mayor Jerry Treńas then, he said.
Leonardia, however, was not the mayor of Bacolod in 2001.
“What is significant is this is the first time we graduated from our dependence on the Internal Revenue Allotment share, “ Leonardia said.
According to the Department of Interior and Local Government about 90 percent of the local governments are dependent on the IRA, which usually comprises more than 50 percent of their budget, he said.
Leonardia said that a few years back, Bacolod City was about 60 percent dependent on the IRA because the local taxes was always small. But this time in our budget, we will have 52 percent local income and 48 percent IRA, he said.
This is because of the increase in business and real property taxes which is an indicator of the healthy financial condition of Bacolod , he added.
Leonardia had earlier said he believes that the substantial and dramatic increase in the local income is also a show of confidence on the part of the taxpayers in the present administration.
“That is why no matter what my political detractors say, they cannot argue with figures,” he said. “We started this administration with a budget of about P635 million and it is now almost double which
was our target when I started,” he said.
The increase in the annual budget will improve the overall services of the city, Leonardia said, adding that they will also have a bigger budget for infrastructure for 2008.*CGS

Pero may comment ako sa accenture. Hindi pa sure yan. Kasi yung logistics nila sa Visayas hub ay hindi pa ganon kadevelop. Their home base will be at Cebu or Iloilo. Kaya bago muna sila magsatellite sa Bacolod, kailangan may base station na malapit. :)

TP and Teletech do have an acceture account....good evening
correct derf, but wat i mean is that Accenture (as rumor say) will put up a callcenter in bacolod city separate from their account from other callcenter such as TP, TT, and CVG. Just like in Cebu, Accenture has a newly opened callcenter facility. :)

kaya nga fraulein eh :) Bacolod really lacks tourist destination. But somehow, the province is doing their best to promote negros. Thats the reason why we have Panaad adn the Pyromagic competition which will soon be a yearly event in Bacolod. This competition invites other pyro experts from other cities like in manila and duamguete. we hope that this will become one of the biggest events in Bacolod aside from our Famous Masskara festival. :)
with regards to the beaches naman, sa north and south denidevelop na rin and our mountain resorts are doing great naman like MAMBUKAL, BUENOS AIRES and the one in Victorias. :)

It would make more sense to put up the hub in either Dumaguete or Bacolod since either of the two cities between both Cebu and Iloilo. Putting up the hub in either Bacolod or Dumaguete would mean lower overhead costs as well as a stable electrical connection.

'Evening, Bacolod.
It's been a long time since I last posted here.
Lucky for me though, the transport strike will be on Thursday and Friday, I'll still have time to study for the prelims next week. There's a rumor spreading in La Salle that they will move the exams to Dec. 18 O_O which I don't want. Anyway, I had a great time watching the pics posted here, grabe, Bacolod's development is really on a fast forward pace.

i really have lots of friends who were helped by these call centers. it's nice to see them progressing in this world. May mga friends ko na supervisor na subong. But it's not an easy life gid tuod. sometimes they tell me about their night shifts, cranky customers, then from work they have to do errands, etc etc...that i could not understand. i have no tolerance to cranky people and i love my sleep. :-)

btw, speaking of bacolod being a clean and green city...i read in sunstar that 10 streetcleaners and garbage aids were awarded during their christmas party (courtesy of teleperformance) for their outstanding service. kudos to them!!
thats right :) they are the heroes of Bacolod City. They help this city to look good in the eyes of everybody, not just the residents of Bacolod but to the visitors as well :) even sidewalk vendors are also helping man migs. :)

pila na minimum fare dira sa bacolod and iloilo? sa luzon 7.50 na ulit eh..:bash:
^^ P6. for students and P7. for regulars in iloilo...in bacolod students is P5. only
Yup. Its weird because they don't implement the same fare regionalwide. But yes in the case of Cebu, they have P6 for regular and student minimum fare and I think P5 for seniors.
But anyway, just an advisory to those traveling in Bacolod and Negros Occidental starting tomorrow and Friday, those who will take the jeepneys that still ply the streets despite the strike, have yourself ready and pray that there will be no one harassing you or the rest of the passengers or even the jeepney drivers. It has been a common practice in most strikes nationwide regarding angry and drunk "tanmbay" drivers getting pissed off whenever they see their collague not participating in the said demo. Halong kamo pirmi. :)

Drag racing?
That's common by the Ayala North Point portion in the border of Bacolod and Talisay City.
Medyo madilim kasi ang daan, then the roads are also wide. Illegal races yun, unlike in other provinces where drag racing is allowed. Of course, the prizes in illegal races are much higher.

SP approves P1B
budget for Bacolod
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO
The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod approved on first, second and third reading the proposed 2008 Annual Budget of P1 billion of the city submitted by Mayor Evelio Leonardia, subject to certain colatillas, or conditions.
It also approved on first, second and third reading an appropriation ordinance augmenting the amount of P27.9 million for the extra cash gift of the regular and plantilla casual employees of the city, to be taken from the item “personal services” savings of the various offices of the city.
Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson yesterday said the old employees, as well as, the members of the SP will get P12,000 each since they were earlier given P5,000 as mid-year bonus, while the new employees including the SP will receive P17,000 each.
The city has about 2,256 regular and plantilla casual employees.
Meanwhile, the 2008 Annual Budget was approved subject to the condition that the Gender and Development fund under the Office of the City Mayor shall be supplemented within the early part of 2008 with an amount not lower than P500 million to augment the same existing items in the General Fund through a supplemental budget or inclusion in the Annual Investment Plan as proposed by Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue.
The ordinance addressing priority concerns of the city such as Information and Communications Technology programs, informal sector programs and all other sectors covered by all other ordinances of the SP shall be funded through supplemental budget or inclusion in the AIP for 2008 and shall include paragraph 6.6 of the Department of Budget and Management which mandate projects, programs and activities to be covered in the Gender and Development plan.
Councilor Greg Gasataya also proposed that the list of projects and programs to be recommended by the City Development Council should be subject to the approval of the SP before implementation.
Leonardia said the 2008 annual budget he submitted to the SP shows an increase of P245 million from that of 2007. That is a 32 percent increase, which is unprecedented, he said.
“When I started, we had a budget of P634 million and we targeted to double the budget within our term,” Leonardia said. “That makes us the number one city in Western Visayas in terms of the budget,” he said, adding that the city is “back on track” in WV.
Leonardia had earlier said that the city will have a budget which is 52 percent local income and 48 percent Internal Revenue Allotment.
He thanked Sayson, Councilor Al Victor Espino, the members of the SP and the finance committee for their support and cooperation.
On the other hand, newly-elected Sangguniang Kabataan Federation president Councilor Daniel Kevin Ramos was appointed by the SP as chairman of the Committee on SK Affairs and Sport, and History and Culture. The committee was previously chaired by his predecessor, Marx Louie de la Rosa.*CGS

Call center gives holiday incentives (http://www.visayandailystar.com/2007/December/13/businessnews3.htm)
Teleperformance call center agents will receive Christmas Efficiency Incentive for work rendered during weekends this December, a press release from the company said.
The Christmas efficiency incentive is part of management's holiday gift to all Bacolod agents this holiday season, TP director for Administration and Human Resources Claire Bedia said.
The incentive shall be given on top of the regular overtime premium to reward agents who will volunteer to render extra hours of work during weekends, she added.
For every extra hour work rendered on Saturdays and Sundays, call center agents will receive an incentive of 75 percent in addition to the 25 percent standard premium. Work performed on Saturdays and Sundays, provided these are established as rest days, agents will receive 70 percent in addition to the 30 percent, the press release said.
Meanwhile, where Saturday or Sunday is a legal holiday but established as a regular working day, agents will receive an incentive of 50 percent of the regular hourly rate in addition to the 100 percent premium. Where Sunday is a legal holiday and falls on a rest day, such as on Dec. 30, agents who will render service will receive an incentive of 40 percent on top of 160 percent premium.
Aside from the Christmas Efficiency Incentive, the company is also raising call center agents Schedule Adherence Incentive to P2, 500, the press release said. *

Thats the least we could to people who are not here in Bacolod to enjoy all the new developments in our city today. Thats why as much as possible, we post pics for the people to see. May mga pics na recycled may mga bago din. but we are trying to take new pics and some, new angle lang :) hehehehe kaya were doing this para naman masiyahan din ang mga viewers. :) kaya sana kung may mag promise man na mag shishare ng pics dito sana gawin din nila. Huwag lang mag promise at di naman ginagawa.

Robinsons expands to Eastern Visayas,
plans more malls outside Metro Manila
ROBINSONS Land Corp. (RLC) told the Philippine Stock Exchange on Tuesday that it will expand to Eastern Visayas.
Construction of the two-story Robinsons Mall located in a four-hectare lot along National Highway, Taboan, Marsabaras in Tacloban City, Leyte would start within the next three months and will be finished by the end of next year, the property arm of Gokongwei family-led JG Summit Holdings Inc. said.
The mall would have a gross floor area of 30,000 square meters, and is set to establish a full-service shopping mall that would house Robinsons Department Store, Robinsons Supermarket, Robinsons Appliances, Handyman Do It Best and three cinemas, Cornelio S. Mapa Jr. Robinsons Mall general manager, said.
A three-story call-center building within the complex is also in the pipeline, which is big enough for 700 seats.
Earlier, RLC launched Robinsons Otis in Paco, Manila, which would also have a call-center office space that can accommodate 700 seats on its top three floors.
Besides Tacloban, the company said it would build more malls outside Metro Manila, specifically in Bacolod, Tagaytay, Bulacan, Dumaguete and Davao. Besides the construction of new malls, the property firm said it is also expanding Robinsons Manila and its first mall in Bacolod.
At end-September, RLC’s net income surged 48 percent to P1.82 billion while its earnings before taxes grew 13 percent to P3.03 billion. Gross revenues rose 24 percent to P5.96 billion, 41 percent or P2.46 billion of which came from its mall business, with the 7-percent increase attributable mainly to higher rent and strong rental income from almost all malls.
Revenues from its high-rise buildings jumped 60 percent to P2.3 billion due to its projects in Manila and Fort Bonifacio while recurring lease income rose 73 percent to P411 million. RLC’s housing and land development unit posted 5-percent higher revenues due to the completion of projects while its hotel unit showed a 24-percent increase to P658 million mainly due to Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Call center gives holiday incentives (http://www.visayandailystar.com/2007/December/13/businessnews3.htm)
Teleperformance call center agents will receive Christmas Efficiency Incentive for work rendered during weekends this December, a press release from the company said.

This building is over five years old and maybe even ten years old already. It looks nice and doesn't age too quickly because of the finishes used and the aluminum cladding reduces watermarks on the facade.

So Robinsons Metro Bacolod is now Robinsons Cybergate Center. Its but fitting coz Teletech is the major tenant of this former mall. Its also a PEZA certified building. Meaning all IT infrastructures are ready for utilization of any additional BPO companies. So @Smile, youre basically correct in saying that its now earning more than when it was a shopping mall/supermarket. This structure is now Robinsons Cybergate Center.

Because 2 years ago when I was there, the mall was not really selling. Its a good thing that Teletech opted to choose here as their office. It gave signal to Robinsons that its better to make this an IT Center rather than a mall. Pero hopefuly the groundfloor would be full of restos and services such as those in the IT Park at Cebu, where the ground floor of an IT Bldg is usually occupied by restos and stores.

@Smile: Based on that news, Robinsons is planning to build another mall in Bacolod. Definitely correct coz the former Robinsons Metro Bacolod is not a mall anymore. As the name suggests, its Robinsons Cybergate Center. A PEZA certified IT bldg. So that leaves only Robinsons Place Bacolod as the only mall of Robs in Bacolod for now. And thats something to anticipate if when and where theyre going to build this new mall in Bacolod. Im Hoping in the East area.:)

^^ Actually, Bacolod's East area is like a sleeping dragon waiting to unleash its might and presence. It has all the potentials of another boom center in Bacolod. With its massive area thats ready for development and the soon to open new Govt center. Plus, the soon to be paved access road of the NBSA from the circumferential highway. But of course, our local govt should also make this area more potable for business. That is, widening of roads, more lighted streets, excellent drainage infrastructure and more traffic lights. These and more make Bacolod east area the NEXT big thing in the city.

It would be good if all four points, NorthPoint, East, Reclamation, and Alijis/Old Airport, gets developed simultaneously. Alijis is the area that seems to be lagging behind as new developments are sprouting on the North, East, and West of Metropolitan Bacolod.

Those cane loaded trucks are not only making the pavement at the circumferencial highway in total dismay, they also pose a bigger threat to the safety of most pedestrians. Just imagine if these trucks will ply the area at sometimes over speed limits.
