"hey guys...what action can be done if your pic was stolen by someone for media purposes? hehehehehe"

hmm...wala. hehe. Let them be don't loose too much sleep over it.

Same thing can be asked...who really owns the copyright of the picture? the architect who designed and prepared building's perspective as shown on the tarpaulin hanged at the site or the photographer who takes the picture of the perspective from the tarpaulin (without permission) and posts it in a public forum?

i am not really affected so much by it...

but i can send them a letter to contact me whenever they need some pictures kay i will be willing to share it...i guess with the tarpaulin thing....its being shown in public and anybody can just take a pic of it...and besides...tarpaulin being posted here includes the name of the architect, wala man sila gina ignore a..gina gaan man sila credit.

Good that you're not letting yourself get affected.

(sorry I don't understand Ilonggo) Only I hope people will stop putting "watermarks" or whatever you call it on the pictures of perspectives on tarps they take. I saw some of our projects posted in skyscrapercity and it feels kinda weird that someone else's "mark" is superimposed on your work. I don't mind people taking photos, it's flattering even, I just feel there is no need to put a watermark. (It's a different story when you take photos of buildings or scenery).

It's different though when the photographer puts his name, something like "photo taken by Juan dela Cruz". That I appreciate and I think is more appropriate.

Just my two cents....=)

its because they were the ones who took the photos. its just appropriate to place watermarks on their pics and it doesnt necessarily mean that they claim the design of the building or whatsoever...

Sipalay is good but if you want you can go to Jomabo Island up north in Cadiz City, near Bacolod City.

Sipalay, although has pristine beaches but its quite far from Bacolod City. But for me its worthed.

The Bacolod peeps know more. They can help you out (kuyog mo ni Kit bai?)

Hello guys! I don't know if you've already read the result of 2007 Philippine Competitive Cities Ranking released by AIM. If not, then I'm the bearer of bad news. Bacolod City which previously holds the top spot for Mid-Sized Cities category for 2003 and 2005 dropped to number 17. Iloilo dropped from number 3 to number 8 (sorry I previously mistyped this to 18).

Here's AIM press release http://www.policy.aim.edu/event4.htm

Not yet but there's another account coming in and rumor says they're gonna need a thousand agents. this could be it...probably.:)

thats not a rumor, its citibank, however, due to american economic recession, citibank hold the luanch of the account. it will launch but not now.

its a good thing actually, because the current site cannot hold another 920 agents expected to be hired, tp is looking forward of either acquire a new property, or look for another building to be rented.

citibank account would be big, it happened mid of last year, theyre cruising to look for contact support sites, and to be accurate, am there actually, they barge to my call(am from another account, dell), i talk to them when im onn avail, with simple, kapal ng mukha, hehehehe, i ask, "so guys what do you think", its a two-way question, im expecting they would about my call, however they talk about the area(the city itself), it matched there feasible study for banking environment, they mentioned and actually hail the available workforce from business schools and universities. naturally, i further promote, even our site director before already told them, that the availability of accountants in the area is more than what they can ask. so workforce + talent(communication wise) + the aura of the city, that a big plus for them.
they stayed here for another 3 weeks to further survey the area, security(passed), lifestyle(passed), business friendly environment(passed), cost of living(passed) and to consider the workforce they could get from iloilo city too.
as for the new tp site, no disclosure yet, however there will be, and hey the servandos and lopues araneta buildings are not part of the available options, as far as i know.
thats all for now.

as for the source, this is a personal experience. and am part of the whole tp hiostory by the way,

^^ I dunno, is it just me or is it that I observe that Bacolod City or Negros Occidental has somewhat have an association with the colour green?

Sugarcane is green, USLS is green, renewable program is green. The city seal of Bacolod has green and so is the seal of NegOcc. Basta, there is something that in Bacolod, the green colour dominates.

ano namin mo? well laban d green minded man gani, imagine? hahahahaha

the reason behind is the ability of the local government to render service, well let see, after NGC is finished, interconnecting roads are done, floods will be resolved. scores are high for bacolod and iloilo again.

its like saying "one step back, and a great leap forward"

Teleperformance Bacolod will be having another account and that is Citibank and they're gonna need approximately 1000 agents. And where are they going to put a thousand agents? Bacolod site has over 1500 employees, it'll not fit in Luxur Place. So if this account will be materialized TP Bacolod will going to build another facility here or maybe rent another building. So we will have two Teleperformance here in the future.

i agree...It time for TP to expand here in Bacolod since they call Bacolod as their HOME!!!! they should improve their facility here and make it more bigger and better. :)

gudpm, we're visiting bacolod in a few weeks time. after we're done mountain-trekking, i hope someone here can recommend a beach resort for us to stay? i heard Sipalay has nice beaches. any suggestion?

this will be my first time to visit bacolod. many thanks!

hello rustyboi! welcome to SSC Bacolod! :D yes, Sipalay has very nice beaches. Far from Bacolod(about 3-4 hours) but definitely worth it. To the North, you can also visit Jomabo, as what Bernie mentioned but you can also try Bonista beach in Escalante. If you want more insider information on Sipalay beaches/accommodations/things to do you can visit my VT site HERE (http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/c8200/1510eb/).:banana::banana:

P2-billion projects approved
THREE NEW PROJECTS worth a total of P2 billion recently obtained approval from the Board of Investments (BoI).

BoI documents showed local pharmaceutical firm Euro-Med Laboratories Phil., Inc. is investing P1.32 billion to put up a power generation facility to supply its electricity needs, while property firm Alunan Realty Co., Inc. was allowed to build low-cost, mass-housing units for P62.25 million, and manufacturing firm High Quality Knitting Mills, Inc. is investing P14.26 million to produce and export knitted fabrics.

Euro-Med, a Filipino-owned firm that manufactures pharmaceutical products, is building a stationary fuel cell to generate 400-kilowatts and supply 25% to 30% of the company’s average electric load. The fuel cell will use either compressed natural gas or hydrogen and combine it with oxygen to generate electricity. "With this project, the firm expects to save at least P48 million annualy in power and fuel consumption," BoI said of the facility will start operations in June 2010.

Alunan Realty, for its part, is developing 9.6 hectares of land to construct 505 low-cost houses. The project, called Residencia Royale, targets to generate 94 jobs. Commercial operations are set in August this year.

High Quality Knitting Mills, meanwhile, is proposing to manufacture and export knitted fabrics at a capacity of 5.46 million kilos a year. The products will be sold to various garments manufacturers and exporters producing T-shirts, sportswear, underwear and others. The company is looking at hiring 70 people.

The BoI and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority said they had approved a total of P204.77 billion in new investment commitments from January to May, more than double the P85.11 billion over a year ago. — BSSD

^^
Alunan Realty is a Bacolod-based Company, right? They built Charito Heigths.
Will they build the Residencia Royale in Bacolod?

and i heard that Ed Alunan, owner of Alunan Realty, will also have an Inter-Island Shipping Business.:soon:

Biggest Home Depot and the Biggest Hardware in the Visayas? Wow it's twice the fun!!! Both stores will compliment each other. Some of their merchandise may be the same, but one will basically supply our construction materials and the other one will supply our electric appliances, drapes, linens, cooking implements and the like. Although recently where stores sells practically everything under one roof, there's a fine line differentiating the two. But hey, it's another proof that Bacolod spells P-R-O-G-R-E-S-S.

This will be just another "milking cow" of our "tra-pos". It would be best if they focus more on the country's internet backbone/digital highway. With that, we can virtually link the Philippine islands not only with the whole archipelago but with the world. Just my two cents. :)

Bacolod softbelles beat Guam teams
BY NIDA BUENAFE

GUANGZHOU , China – Bacolod-Negros softball teams from the Education and Training Center School and Domingo Lacson National High School showcased their softball superiority as they cruised to easy victories yesterday against Guam in the opening of the 2008 Little League Girls Softball Asia Pacific Tournament at the Huangcun Sports Training Base here.

The ETCS Major League team (11-12 years old) overwhelmed Guam, 11-0, in the 8 a.m. opener while DNHS Juniors League (13-14) blanked their Guam counterparts, 3-0, to send a strong signal of dominating this world series qualifying event.

Also registering their first win in the Big League best-of-five series against Indonesia are the girls from Adamson University whose core of players came from Bacolod City .

Highlighted by seven runs in the second inning, the ETCS girls displayed dominance inside the diamond which drew praises from the crowd including those in the Guam bench.

Lead pitcher J-Raniel Andrade, catcher Judy Ann Cauntoy and third base Naica Kilayco led the ETCS surge with a run each in the second inning while starting pitcher Nancy Benjamin, Lorry Mae Lisbo, Amelia Rose Bitonio and Edna Mae Severino also successfully passed all three bases to complete the seven-run output in the inning. Andrade made another run in the third inning while Cauntoy and Kilayco added two more runs in ETCS' score card in the sixth inning to seal the Bacolod team's victory.

“The Philippines ' pitching was awesome although it might be that first day jitters affected the play of our team,” Guam Major League coach Romano Aguero said.

Admitting that his team's hitting and defense strategies need some improvement, Aguero said today's second encounter against the ETCS softbelles in their best-of-five series, scheduled at 2 p.m., will prove if indeed, it was just the jitters that made them lose.

Meanwhile, ETCS' team chaperone Lagrimas Ciocon expressed confidence that the Bacolod girls will be able to sustain their momentum and win the championship in three games.

She said that the girls played well yesterday despite not being able to practice the previous day as rains kept all teams away from the field.

In the Juniors League game between DLNHS and Guam, Queeny Sabobo opened the onslaught with a run in the second inning while Glesyl Opjer passed all the bases in the sixth and Charmaine Joy Oria added another run in the 7th inning for the 3-0 blanking of Guam .

For the 17-1 win of RP's Big League against Indonesia , it was again the softbelles from Bacolod City who now don the Adamson colors who stirred their squad to victory.

Parohinog twins Elna and Elma, combined for seven runs including two home runs in the 3rd inning to douse the Indonesian hopes for an upset.

Other scorers for the winning Philippine team are Maricar Barrientos (1st and 4th ), Analic Jugos (1st and 4th), Harlyn Joy Tubongbanua, Erica Escanuela, Felixwinda Custodio (3rd and 4th), Melanie Laserna (3rd and 4th).*NAB

i think it was SUV who took pictures of the proposed friendship bridge that will link negros with guimaras and iloilo in the pulupandan booth during the panaad festival. maybe its mayor peña of pulupandan who's gonna pursue it.

one major benefit we will derive from the proposed friendship bridge is not only the mobility of goods and services within the region, but of tourists as well. western visayas is projected to be the major tourist destination and what better way to showcase the whole region to prospective tourists than to make everything accesible for them.

Leonardia names vice chairmen for charter day, MassKara fest
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Mayor Evelio Leonardia has designated Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson as vice chairman for the 70 th Charter Anniversary of Bacolod City and Eli Tajanlangit as vice chairman for the MassKara Festival.

Leonardia said the set up will be a bit different from the previous years because the 70 th Charter Anniversary is a milestone. He said this will be a big event so he is asking Sayson to handle it.

When Bacolod celebrated its 50 th year, Leonardia said he was the overall chairman of the celebration. This time because it's going to be the 70 th year, he has installed himself as the chairman of the overall celebration. This will be similarly patterned after the 50th or Golden Anniversary of Bacolod , he added.

“We are very confident that with the leadership of Sayson, who has the full support of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, we will have a very successful celebration on October 19,” Leonardia said.

It will be a very rare celebration in the sense that this may be the first time that October 19 falls on a Sunday, he said.

Leonardia said Bacolod will also be celebrating its 29 th MassKara Festival this year which will be a prelude to an anticipated grand occasion when the festival turns 30 in 2009.

Meanwhile, Leonardia said he has issued Executive Order No. 21 creating a special committee for the purpose of coming up with a comprehensive study for the transformation of the lone district of Bacolod City into two congressional districts.

The committee is chaired by Councilor Alex Paglumotan and the members are Executive Assistant Butch Soliguen, City Legal Officer Allan Zamora, Bacolod Interior and Local Government Officer Ireneo Asuga, Executive Assistant Salvador Malibong and Councilor Diosdado Valenzuela, Association of Barangay Captains president.

Paglumotan said he is confident that their proposal to divide the city into two congressional districts will be approved within two years. He said they have received favorable feedback because this will mean more projects for Bacolod and more school buildings, job opportunities, among others.*CGS

Anyway, the Friendship Bridges would really look like white elephants IMO for now. Given the rising cost of fuel and materials, we will look into the basics first like food security, employment.

On the other hand, PCCRV 2007 results should be now the basis for the two cities. They have to ask why they fell on the surveys of 2007, that is in order to improve city management.

but stil a wishful thinking..kelan kaya mag move ang masskara from tapoed music to live drum beats? this will open windows to opther festivals to compete in bacolod. and will also be easier for bacolod to compete in other festivals. this is one of the biggest reasons why until now only a handful of contingents have competed in masskara

Bacolod will send aid to Iloilo's flood victims

By Alce S. Felizardo

BACOLOD CITY -- The city government of Bacolod will soon send assistance either in a form of money or relief goods to flood victims of Iloilo, said Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia and Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson.

They said that since Iloilo is a neighbor, "it is our moral obligation to help in whatever we can."

They will have to decide whether it's in a form of financial assistance or relief assistance.

Leonardia said that during the Guimaras oil spill, Bacolod City also assisted the province of Guimaras.

"We need to help each other being neighbors. Bacolod is better off because we are the only province with less damage by typhoon Frank," Leonardia said.

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry headed by Mr. Jet Lee and Teofilo Ponce also set aside relief assistance to 300 families in the City of Bacolod whose houses were either partially or totally destroyed by typhoon Frank.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod has already passed a resolution declaring 34 barangays in the city under a state of calamity. www.thenewstoday.info (http://www.thenewstoday.info/)

^^ No need to sign in for "sister cities agreement." Being its sister itself (and probably daughter) has already its moral obligation. Buligan gihapon ang kapamilya sang tini-on sang nagakinahanglanon. :)

By far, the music used in 1991 is the best (lambada, volare). I joined the Masskara too as part of the SMB contingent. We never won, not even landed in the top 5 but we did our best. During those days, nobody can beat Lopues, it's a given fact. We're there to celebrate and have fun unlike today where the competition is so fierce. Until now, it doesn't fail to amuse me when I think about the experience. I don't like the music they're using today, it's not too festive. Missed the Masskara very much and the last time I was there was in 1992!!!!

in 1992, miriam promised that if she becomes president she would push for the creation of the bridge. unfortunately, she didn't make it. mar roxas is the only true blooded ilonggo who has an eye on the presidency. will the ilonggo nation rally behind him? we are a force to reckon with if we only unite. it had been proven that we can make an ilonggo president before.

AIM ranks Bacolod No. 17,
mayor blames poor reportingd
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Bacolod City, which ranked number one in 2005, ranked No. 17 among the Philippine mid-sized cities in the 2007 competitiveness survey conducted by the Asian Institute of Management Policy Center, results released by AIM this week show.

The Philippine Cities Competitiveness Ranking Program is a flagship research undertaking of the AIM Policy Center, which seeks to identify the best cities in the Philippines in which to live, work and operate a business.

For its 2007 round, the survey covered 90 cities, 25 of which mid-sized, and rated them on dynamism of local economy, cost of doing business, infrastructure, human resources and training, responsiveness of LGU to business needs and quality of life.

The cities were classified into metro, mid-sized and small. Twenty five cities were chosen as top performing based on the criteria.

The top performing for metro cities, in alphabetical order were Davao, Lapu-Lapu, Makati, Manila, Marikina and Quezon cities.

Among the 25 mid-sized cities, the top performing cities in alphabetical order were Cabanatuan, General Santos, Lucena, Olongapo, San Pablo, Tagum and Tarlac.

And the top performing cities from among the 45 small-sized cities were (in alphabetical order): Bayawan, Calapan, Calbayog, Dagupan, Dipolog, Laoag, San Fernando (La Union), Malaybalay, Naga, Surigao, Tagbilaran and Tuguegarao.

“This is a big surprise since we expected a much better result,” Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday said. It’s ironic and hard to believe that what seemed to have pulled the city down is the area of dynamism of local economy, he said.

Apparently, it is a case of bad reporting on the part of the City Planning and Development Office, he said, “because we all know that our economy in the past years had metamorphosed into a very vibrant one.”

Leonardia said the finding of City Administrator Roger Balo is that the entry of call centers may have not been reported by the CPDO. One big factor was the absence of Balo, who was in the United States, during the CPDO submission of data, the mayor said.

The difference between the cities are very close that also indicates that there has been an overall surge of improvement even in the other cities which are not considered traditional leaders in growth and economy, he added.

Leonardia said it is ironic since the city was adjudged as the Most Business Friendly City in the Philippines by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the “Best Place to Live” by the MoneySense financial magazine. How could we have scored so low in dynamism of local economy? he asked.

“Nevertheless, we will continue to search for improvement and always try to do better than our best in all the aspects of competitiveness. It’s a consolation that we still ranked top four in the quality of life,” Leonardia said.

Meanwhile, Balo said it was a pure case of erroneous reporting by the CPDO because the report it sent to AIM did not depict the actual development of the city. Perhaps they just submitted the report, which was haphazardly done, to beat the deadline, he said.

Balo said the report did not include the entry of the call centers in 2006, and SM City and other establishments. He was in the US when the CPDO, which is supposed to have the most updated data, sent the report to AIM in February, Balo said.

He wasn’t able to supervise its preparation like he did for the Most Business Friendly City competition since he came back from the US only in April, Balo added.*CGS

Salvador retains Cebu title in Speedo triathlon (http://www.philstar.com/archives.php?aid=20080708147&type=2)

Wednesday, July 9, 2008

Bacolod City’s Noel Salvador defended his Cebu leg title in the 2008 SPEEDO National Age-Group Triathlon Series last Sunday at the Alegre Beach Resort and Spa in Sogod, Cebu.

If Salvador felt lucky to have beaten Cebu’s Abet Biagan for the overall championship and in the 30-34 class last year, he made sure he’s better prepared this time to snatch the crown in convincing fashion.

Salvador finished the swim-bike-run action in one hour, 33 minutes and 22 seconds. Nonoy Jopson finished second in 1:35.30, while as Troy Vergara wound up third in 2:03.31.

Though he missed the overall title, Cebu’s Gerrie Calinawan still has something to be happy about as he ruled the 20-24 age classification in one hour, 40 minutes and 28 seconds.

Another returning Cebuano triathlete, Eugene Sanchez, topped the 35-39 class with the time of 1:46.46, while Dax Sarabosing reigned supreme in the 25-29 division in 1:43.52.

Jose Ricardo Dizon outsmarted event organizer and Danao City councilor Oscar “Boying” Rodriguez Jr. to win the 50-54 plum.

Two other Danao bets, Leo Manulat and Oliver Oliverio, posted a 1-2 finish in the 45-49 category of this Triathlon Association of the Philippines-sanctioned event that is supported by the Danao City Sports Commission, SPEEDO, and Alegre Beach Resort and Spa.

John Rommel Uy did not go home empty-handed as he lorded it over in the 19-under class. John Mark Tamano dominated the 40-44 division, while Imee Macpherson was unopposed in the women’s action.—Caecent No-ot Magsumbol

Jeep, taxi fare hikes ok’d
It’s not enough help,
Negros transport leaders say
BY CARLA GOMEZ
;
The National Economic Development Authority has approved new fare hikes sought by the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board, but leaders of Negros transport groups yesterday said with the spiraling prices of fuel it will not solve their problems.

The fare hikes will be carried out by this weekend, Malacañang announced yesterday.

LTFRB head Thompson Lantion said under the new fare hike, jeepneys will have a minimum fare of P8.50 for the first four kilometers, plus P1.50 for each succeeding kilometer.

Jeepney fare in Negros Occidental is currently at P7.50.

As for taxicabs, passengers will have to add P10 to the amount registered by the taxi meter, Lantion said.

For ordinary buses, the minimum fare is now P10 for the first five kilometers; plus P1.95 each for the succeeding kilometers. Aircon bus fares, on the other hand, are normally 20 percent higher than ordinary bus fare rates, Lantion said.

The jeepney and taxi fare hikes are “across-the-board” nationwide, while the rate increase for buses is for Metro Manila.

LTFRB Regional Director Porfirio Clavel told the DAILY STAR he was awaiting guidelines from the LTFRB head office on the implementation of the new fare hike.

Jesse Ortega, United Negros Drivers Operators Center secretary general, said while they will accept the new fare hike, it barely addresses the numerous oil price hikes they have had to endure and is almost useless.

“What we need is the lifting of the Expanded Value Added Tax on oil products and the scrapping of the oil deregulation law to bring down oil prices,” he said.

Elizabeth Katalbas, president of the Federation of Bacolod City Drivers Associations, said the new fare hike is not enough to address the spiraling costs of their operations.

Many public utility vehicles will stop operating soon, at the rate fuel prices are going up every week it will no longer be viable for them to operate, she said.

Many people will go hungry and it will not be surprising if theft cases will rise, she said.

Finance Secretary Margarito Teves yesterday said that the power to suspend the EVAT on oil rests exclusively on Congress.

Teves was reacting to the call of Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines and some opposition leaders for the lifting of the 12 percent EVAT on oil products.

“Such proposal, however, would mean P73.1 billion in foregone revenue which the government could otherwise use to fund programs to help the poor cope with rising oil and food prices,” Teves said in a press statement.

He said the DOF studies also show that suspending the VAT on oil will largely benefit the rich because they are the biggest consumers of oil while most of the consumption of poor families are VAT-exempt such as agri food products.

The finance secretary, however, said “we would welcome the opportunity to discuss with CBCP our position on this issue and work with them in looking for ways to alleviate the impact of rising oil and food prices on our people, especially the poor.”*CPG

Pacquiao may visit Bacolod typhoon victims (http://www.thenewstoday.info/2008/07/09/pacquiao.may.visit.bacolod.typhoon.victims.html)
By Joel Locsin

BACOLOD CITY – Newly-crowned World Boxing Council (WBC) lightweight champion Manny Pacquiao will arrive here soon to extend help to the typhoon victims.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia said he has requested Pacquiao to visit Bacolod but no specific date has been set yet.

Pacquiao is an adopted son of Bacolod City.

The Filipino boxing hero earlier said that he will donate P3 million assistance to Typhoon Frank victims.

Meanwhile, Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the leadership of Mr. Jet Lee extended last Tuesday, July 8, 2008, their candid support to 300 families in Barangay Banago who were hardly hit by Typhoon Frank.

Banago has the biggest evacuees reaching to more than 400 families compared to other areas.

Earlier, Mayor Leonardia thanked the support extended by the Bacoleños-Negrense Society in America who contributed more than 200 dollars cash assistance to flood victims.

Last regular session, 33 barangays were declared under state of calamity including Banago, Bata, and Tangub.

On the other hand, Leonardia hopes that the floodway project undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will be soon completed. He brought out this concern after some representatives of Philippine National Bank visited Bacolod to discuss this specific matter as PNB partly owns the property to be developed as Floodway Project in Barangay Banago.

Councilor Roberto Rojas Chairman of Flood Control Committee confirmed the scheduled meeting last week regarding the comprehensive drainage program. Among the councilors who attended the said meeting were Councilor Dindo Ramos who tackled the issue of housing, Councilor Greg Gasataya who tackled the issue of Solid Waste Management and Rojas who gave preference to flood control.

Accor Hotel to build no-frills hotel
By Ma. Elisa P. Osorio
Thursday, July 10, 2008

European based Accor Hotel, United Kingdom’s Yotel, Malaysian hotel chain and two Indian firms are interested in building no frills hotels in the country.

“I will be meeting the representatives from the Indian firms in the next 90 days,” Samie Lim, chairman of the Philippine Franchisers Association said in an interview.

Lim refused to name the Indian companies saying only that one group owns four hotels while the other operates 30 hotels.

Lim explained that he is studying the concept of the Malaysian group which ties up the budget air fare to the hotel. “Air Asia has a partnership with a hotel near the airport. It is a good business,” he explained.

Lim said the investments are part of the ASEAN hotel project of the ASEAN member nations namely the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar and Malaysia.

The ASEAN hotel plans to build similar no frills hotels in the 10 member countries. The hotels will be priced the same. The amenities, rooms and the lobby of all the hotels across the ASEAN will be the same as well.

According to Lim, the ASEAN ministers approved the ASEAN hotel concept last year after the meeting of the economic ministers in Manila.

“All the ASEAN hotels will have similar services and integrated marketing and advertising,” Lim explained. “They will also conduct a centralized training for the food and beverage staff.”

This, he said, is necessary in order to ensure that the services provided by all ASEAN hotels are consistent.

Also, Lim said there will be more than one ASEAN hotel per country. In the Philippines, he said there should be ASEAN hotels in all major tourist destinations like Cebu, Boracay, Bacolod, Baguio and Ilocos.

Lim further said that the owner of the franchise in the country must be a local. If this is not possible, he said at least a big chunk of the hotel franchise is owned by a resident. For example, the master franchise of the hotel must be 34 percent owned by locals.

The Accor Hotel is currently operating in nearly 100 countries. It is the European leader in hotels and the global leader in corporate services. Yotel on the other hand is also a no frills hotel operating in United Kingdom.

were hoping, the revival of hiring performers or performers go here to show, like before that conciertos in silay and here in bacolod are held for birthdays and fiestas, or any occasions, more like to satify sugar barons taste for a good life.

now it is more like for the public consumption. hehehe

whenare they gonna start to revive the shopping area man, the chinese al fresco idea for the site, night market and gazebos and cafes. na miss ko na ang ice cream house. namit pa na da before ila banana split, ga brain freeze ko na sang una kaon upod si my labs.

EWF did a series of concert last month in manila and other cities. ginbalikan gid nila ya ang bacolod? basi there was a clamor why bacolod was not part of their itinerary. bacolodnons are a receptive crowd and they surely know how to party. that's why foreign and local artists keep coming back to bacolod.

Rain halts RP softball teams’ bid for sweep

GUANGZHOU, China – The official coronation of Team Manila as champion of the Big League (14-16) division and Bacolod City as winner of the Junior League (13-14) will have to wait for another day as rains continued to hit the city the whole night Tuesday cancelling the two teams’ games against separate opponents in Day 3 of the Asia Pacific girls softball championships here.

The Manilenyas were eyeing to sweep Indonesia in Game 3 of their best-of- five series for the right to represent the region in the Series next month in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

The Golden Girls of coach Ana Santiago are leading the series, 2-0, after blowing out the Indonesians, 18-0 and 13-3, in the first two games.

The Bacolod Junior Leaguers, on the other hand, were similarly eyeing a sweep of Guam for a ticket to Washington for the world championship in their category.

The duel between the Bacolod and Guam in the Major League (11-12) play and pitting China against host China in the Senior (14-16) League competition also stood not to be played although organizers were hoping the weather would improve.

"It ain’t over till it’s over, man. Huwag muna nating bilangin ang itlog hanggang hindi pa napipisa," Manila Little League Charter president and Manila Councilor Che Borromeo said. "Hintayin na lang natin bukas bago tayo maga-celebrate."

Meanwhile, the Bacolod Senior Leaguers ran roughshod over Indonesia, 28-0, in an abbreviated four-inning contest in a game also delayed by rains Tuesday on the strength of the combined no-hit, no-run, no error efforts of Analie Benjamin and Julie Marie Muyco.

Benjamin manned the mount for three innings where she struck out four of the nine batters she faced, while Muyco, sister of Blue Girl and Manila assistant coach Cloiene Muyco, struck out all the Indonesian sluggers that came her way in a one-inning save.

Yotel on the other hand is also a no frills hotel operating in United Kingdom.

an inexcusable excuse. is the cpdo that lame without dr. balo that they missed to include those important details in the report? they could have pased on to anyone of us here and i bet bacolod would have been on top again. just kidding.

btw, the report is only one of their basis. i remember having received a survey form from aim but it was my boss who filled it up. obviously, he chose his own city over the others. i could have done the same had it been given to me. surveys are like that sometimes because we all have our own biases.

In just a little less than three months time, the streets of Bacolod City will once again be decked with all the buntings and banners. Loud music and colourful costumes are de rigeur. And everyone is expected to be in a party mode.

The Philippines’ most colorful festival will be taking centerstage as hundreds of dancers in colourful and heavily decorated costumes and smiling masks dance to the loud music during the annual Maskara Festival 2008.

Accor is the owner of the Sofitel brand for the luxury segment...but since this is no frills - budget...maybe this is the hotel to be built near SM????
