I am not sure which is the tallest. Mangalore has a different topography from other cities. Buildings have different number of floors when you count from different sides!
K2 is 68.5 metres (225 feet) and 19 floors according to its certificate but the upcoming SKS enclave will be 150 metres tall. Mont tiara is at an elevation and probably be more visible.
Number of floors is not reliable when determinig how tall a building is as the height of floors can vary.

But, in Mangaluru subforum we classify building with 12 floors and above as a highrise. 12 floors may mean building having height above 30 meters approximately. Old definition of SSC was to consider 12 floor as a highrise. SSC changed the defitniion a few years back.

Not working for me.

This is a very common problem exclusive to Mangalore,I mean counting of the number of floors. There are many buildings in Mangalore which have different number of floors when you look at it at different sides and angles! Casa Grande is just one such example . If you looked at it from one side it has 16-17 floors but from SL Mathias road it has 14 floors.So I am not sure how you count the floors

The Bangalore-based real estate developer, Bearys Group, is all set to launch its condominium lifestyle project – Bearys Turning Point – at Deralakatte (a medical and IT suburb) near Mangalore.

Addressing presspersons here on Friday, Mr Syed Mohammed Beary, Chairman and Managing Director of the group, said that Bearys Turning Point will have a built-up area of five lakh sq ft. Of this, around two lakh sq ft will be of retail mall area, he said.

The residential space will have studio units and one, two, three and four bedroom apartments; and commercial space will have lifestyle amenities such as retail mall, three-screen multiplex, food courts, spa, among others. Mr Beary said that the ‘Turning Point' project provides ‘live-learn-walk-to-work' environment. The project is located in the midst of three medical colleges and an IT SEZ.

Yes. Abhiman Heights is about 14 floors to 15 floors if counted from airport road near KPT.

Godrej Properties Ltd has announced the launch of its first project in Mangalore, Godrej Avalon. Located on the fast developing Airport Road, the project is spread over 6 acres and will have a saleable area of over 6 lac sq. ft. The site is strategically located in Mangalore’s growth corridor with the airport and the city centre located at a distance of about 12 kms and 5 kms respectively.

Godrej Avalon is designed as a high-end residential project and will have three 23-storey towers offering 3 and 4 BHK luxurious apartments with panoramic views of the city, the surrounding valley, and the sea. Apart from offering contemporary features, the project will also house a well equipped clubhouse with life style amenities like game courts, a gym, a party hall and landscaped gardens.

Like most of its projects, Godrej Properties’ is developing Godrej Avalon as a joint development project with the Fiza Group. The construction activity for Godrej Avalon will be done by L & T.

Pirojsha Godrej, Executive Director, Godrej Properties said, “We are pleased to launch our first project in Mangalore. Ajay as gentem pointed out the pool has half its depth below and above the floor slab.SKS Planet is 125 m and Raheja 132 so the difference is 7 m,hardly 2 floors considering 3.5 m as the floor to floor height.Even Raheja will have a helipad,all buildings above 19 floors need to have a helipad as per building laws.

Ajay check this TATA Aquila procject in Bengaluru is 32 floors yet is only 105 m, so no rule as such

Raheja projects are coming up in kulai right?It is close to MRPL.so we can expect fantastic night view.

. The 33-35flrs, 40-45flrs are all planned in their projects, then clearence, licence has also to be got, at first they will finish bookings of their 2 projects then they will go ahead with their other blocks

K2 is bigger than than Mont Tiara, K2 is located at ground level much below than Falnir road whereas Mont Tiara is situated at highest point of Mangalore City.

I like that wood heaven, really beautifull, Bondel has good space for development, MUDA/MCC should keep the track of projects there and provide good roads and make sure all regularities are in place

Nice one. Seems to be more than 20 floors? 16 floors + 4 floors of mall.

Draw back of buildings with glass in hot climate is that they trap heat and need extra energy for cooling.

i am a MEP design engineer. Nowadays there are glasses with glazing which transfer less heat inside the building. Especially green buildings go with these kind of glasses because they provide natural lights for interiors and reducing power consumptions

BANGALORE: The omnipresence of ‘glass panelled’ buildings whether in the silicon city of Bangalore or the National Capital Region of Delhi, only embellishes the landscape of many metros in the country. Gleaming and attractive to look at, but an eyesore in reality, such glass facades have resulted in the creation of artificial heat islands as well as a visible rise in temperatures in isolated pockets of the city.
The last fifteen years, many malls, shopping complexes, industrial houses and companies especially the IT industry has adopted this design of putting up huge glass panels or fronts for their massive buildings. This was used in the European countries and the US to suit the temperate climate while in a tropical country like India, the so-called architectural marvels are totally unsuitable for the hot and dusty environs, that not only reflects light but also traps heat within the buildings. “Nowadays, an entire wall of a building is being replaced by these costly, highly energy intensive material like glass without realising its deleterious effect on man or his environment,” says Dr M R Yogananda, Structural Engineer, alternative technologies.

“The city of Bangalore is witnessing the formation of isolated heat islands in areas like the Central Business District, ITPL in Whitefield, Bannerghata Road as well as Residency Road in its zeal to imitate the Western model of building glass facade structures,” says Prof B Vijayalakshmi, geographer who has been observing these developments over the last 10-15 years. She adds that these architectural wonders consequently contributed to rise in temperatures ranging from two to three degrees particularly during the noon and late afternoons.

“A city like Bangalore, located 3,000 feet above the sea level, and known for its salubrious and moderate climate, is today facing the ‘heat’ because of absolutely nil knowledge about the consequences or absence of any regulation on the builders by the authorities,” emphasises Vijayalakshmi. “We are not only using precious resources but also increasing man’s consumption of scarce water and power resources to cool these buildings,”
she fumes.

“The construction of such buildings has led to the usage of central cooling systems to lower the temperature of the trapped heat within them,” says Rama Prasad S Hiriyur, a civil contractor involved in alternative technologies. Structurally, these glass facades only look attractive but, since maybe one industry took up this design, the others followed this expensive technology as well.

Another problem is, birds have been losing their direction because of reflection and have been getting killed in their impact with the high rise buildings. The glare caused by glass not only affects the vehicle drivers but is also disturbing for the neighbourhood.

“The construction of such structures started with the IT sector in the 1990s who were exposed to the western type of business and imported this concept without looking or understanding the needs of our own country,” criticises Rama Prasad. European countries in winter get cold and dark. Such facades are used to trap light and heat. Commercial buildings, malls and industrial units once used glass for external finishing but now the whole structures is glazed.

People always around give me advice that- People who read more newspapers are tend to believe on things more easily without verifying.
Look akash we have understand from the law of conservation of energy.
Energy can neither be created nor destroyed but only can be transfer from one form to another.
Now in above topic lets discuss on solar energy falling on a buildings.
We know light falling on a buildings will either be absorbed or reflected or may be transfer inside the buildin through glasses.
If we have glass building more light will be reflected but if its a exposed wall then more ll be absorbed.
At the end of the day the system/surrounding will be heated through either way because of the building.
So i believe this above newspaper article you posted is not technically correct.
Yes i agree your stance that glasses are expensive to invest.
And the matter of increase in temperature of earth there can dew reasons one is more pollution particles in air absorb more heat from sun. And other may be depletion of ozone.
We also know that earth also reflects some amount light falling from the sun but due to pollution reflection may have reduced and absorption has increased.
All above justification is my knowledge about the subject. Anybody can correct me if i am wrong. Nobody should use this as reference for future use
