Perhaps some body like TRCIP may be the only solution. This notificaiton for Kerala construct cc was done very recently. WIll an RTI 's seeking the reason
for this shift of stand by MAYOR help.

Getting share of indian express and hindu and increasing english news paper readership would be their target. I believe English news paper market is still underserved in calicut. Also Hindu as a whole is running in loss now, though it is the only paper which has quality of news.

Kozhikode, Dec. 7: The Pune-based Aditya Kitchen System, manufacturer of modular kitchens, has opened a retail outlet in Kozhikode.

The franchisee outlet styled ‘The Rasoi,' showcases various multi-purpose models such as magic corner, larder unit, offset revolving and crockery unit, with price tag starting from Rs 50,000. Besides, different types of kitchen trolleys are also available, according to Mr Anand Ambekar, Director of the company.

He said Aditya Kitchen System was the first company in the field to receive ISO certification. It has already installed more than 1,500 kitchens across the country.

The Kozhikode outlet was the company's third showroom in Kerala and more outlets would be opened in Kochi, Thrissur, Kollam and Pathanamthitta during the next year, Mr Ambekar said.

Call to expedite Beypore port development

Kozhikode, Oct. 9:

The Kerala Government has been urged to expedite the development of Beypore port which has been pending for long, despite numerous studies having pointed to the significant contributions it can make to the development of Malabar region.

In a memorandum to the Minister for Ports, Mr K. Babu, Malabar Chamber of Commerce, has pointed out that Kochi port has become saturated and that the Vallarpadam terminal will only cater to big mother ships and container carriers. In these circumstances, there was an urgent need to develop small feeder ports in the State.

The movement of cargo from Kochi port and Vallarpadam container terminal to destinations in the Malabar region can be facilitated by the development of the Beypore port. That the development of small ports had played a major role in the growth of States like Gujarat and Maharashtra, should prompt taking firm steps to take the Beypore proposal ahead.
Development activities

The chamber notes that the port had seen some development activities in recent times, but they were all meant to boost the tourism potential of the area. But the movement of cargo should get priority over tourism in any port.

The Government should find the required land for the development of the port on a war-footing and prepare a comprehensive master plan. For one, the port should facilitate calling in of passenger ships from Gulf countries, as nearly two lakh people from the region work there and most of them are unable to fly home every year due to financial constraints.

NIRDESH can be anywhere else (I mean other part of the District) it is not really a ship building institute , but a ship designing one, they will take their prototype design to a nearby ship building centre (probably Kochi) to build the designed ships.

But beypore port cannot be anywhere else, The land allowed for NIRDESH could be used for port development. as noone can aquire any small piece of land near Beypore for any minor development forget about any big expansion.

As part of extending the activities of the State Agriculture Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), established under a Centrally sponsored scheme, two satellite centres will be established in Kozhikode and Ernakulam.

Todays Metro Manorama speaks of first phase of UL Cyberpark ready to open on 7th Jan. But its only a 3 storey facility, while another 10 storey building is also getting ready.

Cochin Shipyard is pursuing a vision to emerge as a leading shipbuilding and repair yard in the South-Eastern region. The yard has, however, reached full capacity utilisation in the last few years.In order to sustain the growth rate, it needs to invest in new facilities and continually innovate, the official said.

In view of the keenness of the State Government to develop a port facility at Vizhinjam, the yard had expressed its interest to set up a shipyard facility keeping in view the logistic advantage of a port.

Besides, Vizhinjam's advantage by way of higher draft was also very attractive. Cochin Shipyard's understanding is that the State Government would extend logistic support by means of breakwater facility and road or rail links and make available the necessary land, the official said.

Health Minister Adoor Prakash has said that a Rs.150-crore project has been chalked out for the development of the Government Medical College here.

He said that the proposal for a super-specialty block at the Medical College would be accepted with slight modifications. The institution would get a Linear Accelerator costing Rs.11 crore, CT scan, MRI scan and a Cath lab as part of the project, he said.

The Minister said that Beach Hospital here would be among the hospitals selected to be upgraded as specialty hospitals in the next financial year.

Mr. Prakash said that immediate measures would be taken to equip the major hospitals in the district for NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals) accreditation. He said that reports had been sought from the heads of the Women and Children's Hospital and the Institute of Mental Health at Kuthiravattom regarding their requirements. The development measures would be initiated immediately, he said.

A total of Rs.56 lakh had been sanctioned for the Women and Children's Hospital under the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) and that orders would be issued to ensure its proper use, the Minister said.

The proposed Palam may be towards the Azhimukham ( sorry dont know English for this ) of the river, further south-west . There can in-fact plan to integrate the checkpost of Revenue functioning near Pavangaad with the new bridge. In that way they can completely BAN the trucks from getting anywhere near City.

Kozhikode: The Kerala government would take steps on war footing to construct an international standard sports complex here, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said here.

Recalling that he had received a memorandum in this regard when when in charge of the sports department in 1982, Chandy said non-availability of land was the main reason for delay in setting up the sports complex.

The non-resident deposits in banks in Kozhikode district have recorded an increase during the second quarter of the current year ended September 30.

Always use the term 'one of the' before every words you used to praise any city in SSC. :) . Btw, because of blockades in TN border and the tention of MP Dam issue, vehicles using NH 212 is increased dramatically. And KA is selling more goods in Kerala Market nowadays. But again this road is a bottleneck in the travel between KA & Kerala. Night travel ban is also a reason for rapid increase of vehicles in the day time.

Guys,if CROWN is closed for three months,Calicut will not see major hollywood and bollywood releases...really sad state for a city where there are many fans for english and hindi movies....

U are talking about the Passport Seva Kendra(PSK) which is going to be opened in the old koyenco building. PSK all over india is managed by TCS. They are opening two PSks in kozhikode district, one in calicut and other one in vadakara.

That towers will need centralised A/C for sure. What about the passengers waiting. Will they have A/C waiting shed like the ones we see in Kerala railway stations( a select few of them do have a/c waiting halls ).
Anyone aware of the faciliites planned in their TVM bus stand towers for the passenger amenities.

Diesel fumes may not go up, karnataka has lots of such bus stations and diesel fumes are never a problem (unless what our old buses really fumes out). The plan is to have AC waiting rooms. The towers I heard will be some star hotel. In the new setup maintenance may not be an issue since it will be heavily commercialized rather "bus" specific. What we should really matter is that will there be bus in the bus station. Already KSRTC had protested that there is little space for bus to park.

റോഡ് യാഥാര്*ഥ്യമാകണമെങ്കില്* 94 വീട്ടുകാരെയാണ് ഇനി ഒഴിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടത്. ഇതില്* നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം വാങ്ങിയ 17 വീട്ടുകാരെ ഒഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നതോടൊപ്പം പുനരധിവാസം ഏതാണ്ട് പൂര്*ത്തിയാകും. ചക്കുംകടവ്, നദിനഗര്* പ്രദേശത്തുള്ളവര്* കൂടി പാക്കേജിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി വരും.
ഏതാണ്ട് 14 വര്*ഷം മുമ്പാണ് കോതിപ്പാലം നിര്*മിച്ചത്. എന്നാല്* അപ്രോച്ച് റോഡ് ഇല്ലാത്തതിനാല്* പാലത്തിന്റെ ഗുണം നാട്ടുകാര്*ക്ക് ലഭിച്ചില്ല. 1998 ല്* നിര്*മിച്ച പാലം 2012 ആയിട്ടും ഗതാഗതത്തിനായി തുറന്നുകൊടുക്കാന്* കഴിയാതെ കിടക്കുന്നതില്* ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടവരുടെ അലംഭാവം പ്രകടമാണ്.

റോഡ് യാഥാര്*ഥ്യമാക്കാന്* കോര്*പ്പറേഷന്* നടപടി സ്വീകരിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഇതിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി രേഖകളില്ലാതെ പുറമ്പോക്കില്* താമസിക്കുന്നവരെ ചാമുണ്ടി വളപ്പില്* അഞ്ചേക്കര്* സ്ഥലമെടുത്ത് പുനരധിവസിപ്പിക്കാന്* ശ്രമമാരംഭിച്ചു. ഇത് പൂര്*ത്തിയായിട്ടുണ്ട്. രണ്ട് സെന്റ് സ്ഥലവും വീടു കെട്ടാന്* ധനസഹായവും എന്ന നിലയിലായിരുന്നു അവരെ പുനരധിവസിപ്പിച്ചത്. എന്നാല്* രേഖകള്* ഉള്ളവര്* നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം വാങ്ങിയെങ്കിലും 15 വര്*ഷം മുമ്പത്തെ വിലയാണ് ഭൂമിക്ക് നിശ്ചയിച്ചതെന്നും പുതിയ വില നിശ്ചയിക്കണമെന്നും ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്* സാങ്കേതികമായി ഇവരുടെ ആവശ്യം പരിഗണിക്കാന്* ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുള്ളതിനാല്* ഇവര്*ക്ക് പ്രത്യേക പാക്കേജ് വേണമെന്ന് കോര്*പ്പറേഷന്* പ്രമേയം മുഖേന ആവശ്യപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തിരുന്നു.

തീരദേശ ഹൈവേയുടെ ഭാഗമായാണ് കോതിപ്പാലം നിര്*മിച്ചത്. പാലം ഗതാഗതയോഗ്യമായാല്* കല്ലായ് റോഡിലെ തിരക്ക് കുറയ്ക്കാനും കഴിയും. ചക്കുംകടവ് ഭാഗത്തെ 600 മീറ്റര്* റോഡാണ് നിര്*മിക്കേണ്ടത്. പുനരധിവാസം ഏറെ സങ്കീര്*ണമാവുന്നതും അവിടെയാണ്.

How eco-friendly its gonna be ? The diesel fumes are gonna rise up those twin towers. there is no more open space for bus parking, means it will be loud, noisy ( ECHO due to covered design) as well as filled with soot and dust. The maintenance will be very big issue.
That towers will need centralised A/C for sure. What about the passengers waiting. Will they have A/C waiting shed like the ones we see in Kerala railway stations( a select few of them do have a/c waiting halls ).
Anyone aware of the faciliites planned in their TVM bus stand towers for the passenger amenities.

Exactly, this is just for the namesake bus station. Huge building with few parking lot for buses and less facilities for passengers. This news has already came in newspapers and has been discussed in this blog. What to do??

The projects include a world trade centre, convention centres, star hotels, supermarkets and amusement parks. The new venture will mainly focus on the welfare of the non-resident Indians (NRIs) and their families, according to Dr K.P. Hussain, Chairman, Fathima Healthcare Group.

He said here on Wednesday that funds would be raised through shares from NRIs and invested in profitable projects. The company will identify suitable projects in other States in India as well for making investments and NRIs will be given preference in employment according to their skills or through proper training at NRI-PMI-funded projects.

GENDER PARK FOUNDATION STONE LAYING CEREMONY ON MARCH...

A novel project, namely, “Thantedam Gender Park,” aimed at bringing women's points of view into developmental matters is to be established in Kozhikode.

At present, there are six CRCs functioning from different regions of the country. The establishment of the two new centres will entail an investment of Rs 26.37 crore, a government release said. It said the scheme of setting up of the centres is a part of the overall strategy to develop infrastructure and capacity building at central, state and district levels for awareness generation, training of rehabilitation professionals and service delivery.

Dont believe wikimapia, almost everything fake in it, u can see a plot near Pantheerankavu marked as Proposed Water Theme Park, but tat plot belongs to PVS and their Nursing College is on tat plot, but Lulu's not sure, maybe true, because i also heard about it from some reliable sources.

My house is just near to this proposed Lulu project. They already started the initial processes/operations and they took a small office in the corner building ( by pass/Govindaporam junction) this news is confirmed and Mr. Yusef ALi was there in Calicut around 1 month back and he visited the site too..
Mr. Sanju is right the wikimapia marked land, if its opposite to Kingspears then its still belongs to KTC and Lulu's site starts just after this Govindapuram/bypass junction till KTC land I believe.
