^^ What would be the total length of the road? I remember reading it somewhere in this forum and my guess is that it would be 8 km connecting the NH 17 but I'm not sure. Pardon me for asking again.:bash:

Here is the layout of the park proposed on the Beach Road. Not sure if this one is completed though. Good to see them planning green zones and parks along the major pockets of the city, especially along the newly built stretches.

http://i39.************/2qmgdfm.jpg

Also have a look at the design of the Football Stadium; Corporation Stadium I presume, with floodlights and layouts. Check out http://www.zachariack.com/ which hosts a few commercial complexes as well. Perhaps Sanju and boys could investigate on the location and related details about the project ;)

It will be more than 8 km scorpio, beach road actually starts from chengottukavu, in between quilandy and calicut, runs through the city on beachside, and now diverts at south beach or kuttichira and goes as francis road to reach kallayi....a bridge has been constructed many years ago on kallayi river estuary (kothi bridge) which is still non functional due to some problems in approach road construction...this bridge will take u to ponnani, through the proposed costal highway and will connect to NH-17 guruvayoor road to reach edapally....hope u got a broad idea..:)

Sanju there is some mistakes in your post
1Beach Road starts near Vengali Over Bridge. Not near Chengotkavu.

2 The Kothi bridge is upon Kallayi river u can reach Beypore but the Wide Chaliyar is still there without any bridge. u have to cross the River by Junkar to reach Chaliyam, Kadalundi and then to Ponnani -

Carz Spa plans 50 outlets by FY '10

Having set up its 18th store through its recent tie-up with Ahmedabad-based Cama Motors Private Limited, Carz Spa, a division of Surat-based Fortune Multiple Services Private Limited, plans to expand its retail network by taking the total number of outlets to 50 by end of the financial year 2009-10.
A car professional detailing centre, Carz Spa offers automobile beautification and preservation services. "We treat a car with the best car care products, machines and equipment. We offer different services like making a customer's car germ-free by using dry and wet steam jets, apart from exterior and interior steam clean, beauty and protection treatment, polymer coatings and creating sound-proof interiors," said Anckur Sama, director of Fortune Multiple Services Private Limited.

Once expanded, the company is targeting around 5,000 cars per month at an average revenue of Rs 2,000 per car. "Currently, we offer services to around 2,000 cars per month," added Sama.

While recently Carz Spa has set up its facility in association with Cama Motors in Ahmedabad for beautification and preservation services of luxury cars, the company plans to set up another outlet through the franchise route to cater to mid-segment cars.

The company is looking mostly at cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Ludhiana, Ghaziabad, Cochin and Calicut for some of its outlets. Carz Spa requires its franchisees to invest roughly Rs 10-12 lakhs per outlet, said Sama.

SURVEY of most of the roads are done....

First on to be stadium - puthiyara road.

The best one will be the 8.4 KM 4 lane road from manachira to Vellimadukunnu... this will surly change the face of the cty as it is passing thru the centre of the city...

Infrastructure facilities are given importance for the first time i guess..and surly in 2 yrs time city road n/w will have a different look....

The railway news is heartening. Years back I had dreamt of the possibility of an additional station called Calicut North. At the time, Vellayil station was in my mind. However, it seemed to be only a dream. Delighted to see something happening on similar lines. One more thing I was thinking was, if we could have a line from Calicut station towards Mysore, and thereon to Bangalore, and another one towards Beypore port, thereby setting up rail connectivity to the port, Calicut station would become Calicut Junction. :-)
Hehe, may be its too much to ask for......
But do we have so much place at West Hill station to accomodate all that infrastructure???

see WESTHILL sounds a very nice futuristic name.
we have to develope the whole area sorrounding it as Westhill.
a Westhill Busstation will add the feather.

Nizamuddin in Delhi and Churchgate in Mumbai and lot of others in the forign countries dont use the city name for their main stations.

Westhill and Kallayi are important historic places so a perfect NO from me for name changing!!!!!

Once the bypass road from ramanatukara to vengalam is completed , then bypass will be the national high way and not the raod through the center of the city which is the current NH-17 ......so there is no question of widening this road into NH standerds....

But yes there is a proposal i heared of widening the kannur road also to 4 lane upto pavangad or westhill .....but that is after the wayanad road widening only...

either way this showroom is in trouble i guess....:ohno::ohno::ohno:

WRONG Man, All the National Highways and the Byepasses of it are belonged to National Highway Authority. so both are National Highways. there is no degrading of the existing roads after opening any Byepass.

PITLINE facility to come up in westhill station and hence we may have CALICUT NORTH station in the making....

This will enable train services to start from calicut ....
TRIVANDRUM - ERNAKULAM janashaabdi exp will be extended to calicut...

Rs 25 cr for the railway station development also in the pipeline...

All these can be expected in the coming railway budget itself...

Welldone ...Mr Raghavan who is the MP from calicut and also to ahemed

http://i41.************/s62cly.jpg

Rly minister Ahmed promised, Pitline is coming in Kannur South Station when he visited Kannur this month. All Kannur people are waiting for the approval in this rly budget. He also promised Calicut !!!!!... I don’t know where it should come or it a promise by the politician???:bash:

Man thats politics. When Kannur MP asks for it Mr. Ahamed would say it will come in Kannur. When Kozhikode MP asks he will say it will come in Kozhikode. In the railway budget nothing will happen and he will say its all decided by Mamta Banerjee. Next year the same thing will repeat.

Actually we will be more happy if it comes both in Kannur and Kozhikode. Pitline is needed for repair and maintenance of trains in starting stations. Its a fact that there are more trains starting from Kannur than Calicut. There is not doubt that it should come in Kannur. Pitline was considered in Kannur during the time of last UPA government itself.

But there is no reason why you should oppose pitline coming in Calicut. If it comes in Kozhikode too, then it will again benefit Kannur since more trains can start from Calicut. If the trains are to the south then it will reduce the rush in trains starting from Kannur. If the trains are to the north then it will directly benefit passengers in Kannur. Now since Mangalore-Bangalore railway line is fully functional new trains can start in Kozhikode-Mangalore-Bangalore route. It will actually benefit Kannur than Kozhikode because from Kozhikode the distance via Coimbatore-Bangalore is same as that of Mangalore-Bangalore. So the existing Kannur-Coimbatore-Bangalore train will actually benefit the passengers from Kozhikode and a new Kozhikode-Mangalore-Bangalore train will benefit passengers from Kannur. Also if pitline comes in Kozhikode, new interstate trains to the north (either via Konkan or Hassan) can be started from Kozhikode and Kozhikode station can become like Ernakulam and Trivandrum. Again it will benefit people from Kannur since now there is heavy rush in many long distance interstate trains and most of them run through Palakkad. So pavamdoha you need not worry. We wont be losers anyway. ;)

Aslesh, u said it..the case is similar as in the case of airport development, i think....under present condition kozhikode stattion cant grow further due the lack of available land, so we can project westhill as kozhikode north or let the name remain as west hill, there are a lot of advantages if we develop west hill station, first of all land is available, connectivity to the station is pretty good, well its inside the city only...and one more important factor is the industrial zone in west hill, may get benifits if there is a main station near by....hope we can dream for a westhill-bangalore or westhill-bombay or westhill-chennai services....:)

simpliCITY

And Sanju, for a large portion of the city, getting to Kozhikode station is very difficult during peak traffic hrs. becaus the station is situated almost south of the city.

and westhill is relatively closer for northern and eastern part of the city

Yes, Wayanad rd & Kannur road are needed a face lift .
and what about Kallayi Rd.??
I remember when i was in my primary classes there was some proposals for a elevated road from Kallayi to Palayam. because of the difficulty of of the widening of existing road. did u remember Sanju??

I ve another Idea on this regards- Aravind Gosh Road, which is parellel to Railway line can develope as a 4 line and a new connection Road infront of the New Western Entry of the railway Station and further south - a bridge over Kallayi River-again south to meat the Panniyankara gate. will ease the traffic by half.

Gandhi Road IIM-K Road is a great proposal. but don;t see any new development otherthan the proposal
I SUJJEST THIS ROAD TO BE NAMED AS MG ROAD - as it is an extention of the existing Gandhi Road.

And i do remember that plan of 2 teir road u have mentioned..but i will go for widening of the road to 4 lanes, since tat area has immence commercial importance and such developments can bring down that....

Yeah, POINT But in western side of Calicut & Kallayi stns, there is plenty of land awailable with Railways. if Railway demolish those "chornnolikkunna" qrtses and build flats for their staff it will make easy.

still there is densely populated Thekkepuram (South Beach ) Area. but Sanju 90% of those houses are tooo old. and in the hands of big families they don have no options to make their own houses because of the high value of land in the area.but stay with the houses I AM SURE EVERYBODY WILL REACT POSITIVE FOR A DESENT RELOCATION

Kallayi, Kannur, Wayanad & Mavoor roads have to be developed with equal importance. Avide Kannur roadil MS kada ippolzhum undo?

Kallayi road is included in kannur road development.....

And i do remember that plan of 2 teir road u have mentioned..but i will go for widening of the road to 4 lanes, since tat area has immence commercial importance and such developments can bring down that....

And regarding the new road u proposed....a very good idea indeed, but land aquasition may be a big headache....tats from railway station towards pannniyankara side or may end up at payyanakkal road.....its densily populated area know...

MG road...yes a very good name indeed.....

Calicut should have an MG road.
Not only at Trivandrum, Ernakulam & Thrissur, atleast the most prominent city in every District should bear this name.

There is no MG Road in Calicut because we already have a GANDHI ROAD. (Two roadsin the name of same Man will make confusion) !! It is not a main road nor situated in the main business area.

The road got its name because Mahathama Gandhi once Walk through this road to Beach. During the days of UppuSathyagraham

Uppu Sathyagrahathe kurichu paranja nadan Dileep ippol uppum thinnu vellavum kudikkunnu.

Anyhow, MG Road is a stylish name referring to a posh locality in any city (Case of Thrissur is different, More glamorous areas are there).

The full name Mahatma Gandhi always gets abbreviated to MG.
So there is no harm in having both the roads.

There was a State wide debate at a time when the new Univeristy was proposed at Kottayam. I think TM Jacob was the Minister for Educatino then.

The original name propsoed was Mahatma Gandhi University. But the main allegation against naming like this was that, in due course people might only use as MG. Accordingly, the univeristy was named as 'Gandhiji' University. Later on somebody changed the name of the University as 'Mahatma Gandhi University' and as predicted by somebody, it has become a reality that now there is no name of Gandhi. It is only MG University - like the MG College of Trivandrum.

In Tamil Nadu, we have MGR eveywhere !!!

ONE:but friend , sometimes developing existing road are taking more time than building a new road. as most of the city roads are dotted with houses buildings and shops, it is almost impossible for such a large scale relocation

TWO:Name is also important- I think so (We were discussing about a New Road which still doesnot have any names and proposed by the Govt. if that particular road not needed any name then ok . can we call it untitled road??:)

THREE:Link road is Fourlined - because of the illegal parking on both sides ,it seems two lined - I agree
And Link road is not a primary road in the city it is only a link road Linking two narrow oneway roads..

Hon Mayor says JNNURM is very difficult task to in the Case of Calicut city
b cos we must have detailed plan for next 25 years
and it must have to be compitable with central govnt rules and regulation
for any project our society will not provide any land
they need development in city with out any provision of land
they are thinking about one in sky?????????
and our typical home is consumes very large portion of land
so we the people have to change the attitude
otherwise stay behind

Making a masterplan for 25 years is that much difficult?? to lost a project like JNNURM??? I dont think so.

People don't like to allow their properties for any kind of development , because the track record of our govt.'s rehabilitation is very poor. if there is a scientific and fare traatment, no body will oppose these.

My father said when aqusistion for NH 17 byepass was going on in the late 80s peaple were eager to submit their properties for aquisition because of the ponnum vila quated by Authorities and each Plants whether it is a banana tree or Pineapple plant , got compensation for it.

And second we need a Strong Authority to do these things in a developmental basis, remember the strong steps taken by then collector Amitabh Kanth during the widening of Muthalakkulam Jn.

Even now this system is there.

With regard to the proposed Express Way, a study in this respect (to estimate the value of plantations, dry lands & wetlands and other farming area that shall be acquired for road development) had been done by the Agricultural Finance Coporation of India (a wholly owned subsidiary of RBI). As a Consultant of AFC, I had also contributed little to this study during 2005-06.

The problems arise when our officials manipulate things.

This is a common problem with our Malayalam News reporters. While they get some information, they shall be trying to "polippikkal" to the maximum length. Poor guys even do not use the common sense - how long is Kerala. Kerala's maximum breadth comes where the Idukki & Ernakulam comes together I think.

Jallekka, this is the strength of these peaple
The red Party in Kannur and the Green party in Malappuram knows
the stupid peaple will vote to them in any circumstances. whether they did good or bad NO MATTER so peaple from Southern districts asking why Malabar is lagged behind ? since lot of power ful politicians are from there??

Atleast they would have increased the frequency of Kannur-Yeswantpura. That train is lying idle in kannur railway station for four days in a week.

This was expected by all the people but I dont know why they are not doing this. there is no need for any coaches or engine for the same as this train is idle for four day!!!:ohno:

But what if Malabar's own Minister (and that too while he officiates as the State Minister for Railways) has neglected his people ? Not an easy task like flying to different places and visiting relatives & party workers at the cost of the people !!!.

New Delhi (PTI) Focussing on upgradation of infrastructure, Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday announced developing 50 world-class stations and 375 model stations with all basic amenities.

The 50 world-class stations will be developed through innovative financing and in public-private-partnership mode.

Some of these stations are CST Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Howrah and Sealdah, she said while presenting the Railway Budget 2009-10 in Parliament.

Great news for Kozhikode. Calicut is going to be elevated to world class. Sonia Gandhi has given order to Mamatha Banerjee regarding this. So, there will 3 stations from Kerala to be elevated to the world standard. Also, Kottayam has been included in the Adarsh station category.

Hope the authorities will list the other important stations in Kerala like Kollam, Trichur, and Kannur in the World Class/ Adarsh Category shortly as Kerala depends heavily on railways for passenger traffic.
