I donīt know if it is the right section here but I want to discuss the following.

As an American university in Bulgaria I donīt know whether this should be discussed here, because this time Bulgaria is not faulty. I canīt understand when students pay lots of money for short English courses in the ELI "English languace Instutude" when they are forced to go in the darkness in the basement. I donīt know any school which forces their students to study in the basement and not have sunlight the whole time. When it is mornings, itīs almost acceptable, but when I went to the shit ELI I had to go there afternoon, when taking the Modul 3 course from January to April. I took Modul 2 and Modul 3.

It seems to me that the American university wont ever offer psychology as a mayor or minor for studying, because the professors and teachers donīt know anything about psychology. You pay exraordinarily high praises and you donīt get normal rooms, but way too tiny basement rooms with artificial light in winter where the days are short and you almost donīt see any sunlight at all, but as I told the American university wont offer psychology I jsut explained it here why. they simply are way too dumb to realize tha it is very depressing that the English laguace Institute forces the students to go into the basement all day in winter, donīt see any daylight, and this is not only extremly depressing but it is very unhealthy. It is very unhealthy for the brain and other parts of the body when they donīt get have natural light for months, maybe Bulgaria will generate a well health care system with laws that forbid jailing students in basements with artificial light.

I remember here in Germany I always had great feelings and emotions, was way happier and so on because all buildings had big windows and I have been seeing the sunlight all day which just made me very happy (seeing the skinny girls aswell) I aktually took the SAT test on first November and soon the results will come but even if I pass I am not sure if I will return to the university, I am temporarily doing a simple job here in Germany but I feel way better because I have sunlight all day long and know what month we have (after several months in basement prison you tend to forget how the atmosphere colors look in a certain month), I have off for a few days because I msut wait until the workers finish the pressure test so that I can continue my work til 12 December. And next year do some different education like a profession or so.

And if you think I am the only one who complains about the ELi I can right now quote some friends, one of them was in the ELi with me to take the Modul 2 course), he also claimed it was extremly shitty and depressive, that it was always boring and always the same, that the people were bad in the course and so on. After enjoying regular school in Germany the ELI was truly a nightmare because I am not used to be a slave who has to work in darkness for months and not see the light and atmopspheric colros of winter and spring and even to pay for that, thatīs truly unhuman and the American university should definatly build a new building for the ELi or quit the english courses because the courses they offer are extremly unhealthy for brain and other parts of the body and can easily cause hard depressions on otherwise very happy people.

The education in ELI is indeet pretty good, you learn much and the stuff is hard, after you leave the course you will have improved your English skills a lot and be better pprepared for SAT and TOEFL, but the mental price you have to pay for the courses is extremly high, the actual price you have to pay, 600 € I think for Modul 2 is not even 1 cent compared to the mental price you have to pay.

If I ever get a chance to take a course where I can learn something, but have to take the course in tiny basement rooms with no natural light and it goes for several months, I will be so direct and tell the director personally, I give a shit at your education, I am not a slave who needs to go into the darkness and no see any natural light for several months jsut to learn your crap, there are enough naive people who are ready to pay exorbitant prices for your basement courses, but I wont play this game.

90% of classrooms and even dorm rooms in the US are 4 brick walls. Windows are reserved for hallways, offices, etc.

Than I am very happy I am in great europe and know that I donīt have any intention to ever go to America. I just talked with my father about the course who aktually paid the money for me because I havnīt been working that time and he admitted that it is not nice at all in the shitty ELI, he said he was there only for a very short while with my mother to talk something with the director and didnīt find it a nice place. And students are forced to study there during winter and not get any natural light, sorry but I have no words for that.

I really didn't get the gist of the above-written, so I've no idea where to start from.

*If you want to study in Bulgaria because it's cheaper and then to go back to Germany, better stay there because of many reasons.

*If you want to use AUBG as a stepping-stone to USA or some American company in Europe, it's not a bad idea.

*If you want to study in AUBG and when you complete your bachelor degree to live and work in Bulgaria, just go to SU "Kliment Ohridski".AFAIK, you need only to authenticate that you are from Bulgarian origin.

From AUBG's site:

For 2008-2009 academic year the fixed cost of education before financial aid is:

Tuition $ 7,800.00
Housing $ 880.00
Student Activities Fee $ 200.00
Total: $ 8,880.00

Tuition and Fees
Tuition for 2008-2009 is $7,800. Tuition is set annually and student may anticipate some increase over the four years of study. For 2008 - 2009 annual Residence Hall fee is $880. All full-time students are expected to live in an AUBG residence hall unless they receive a waiver of this requirement. In addition, all students are charged a Student Activity fee of $ 200 per year to cover co-curricular activities, clubs, special events, and recreation and athletic activities. This activity fee is applied to all students, including those living off campus, dependents of employee, and students from Blagoevgrad.

Additional Expenses
Costs for dining at the Canteen are estimated at $800 per year and required textbook expenses are estimated at $300. There are no additional fees for health service, Internet service, use of the technology labs, or counseling services. International students are responsible for mandatory health insurance ($120 estimated), entry visa fees (EUR 60) and Bulgarian ID card for foreigners (BGN 545). Students will want to include the travel costs to and from their home and the University as part of their financial planning.

Student Accounts
Accounts are opened for each student in order to handle both charges and credits. Tuition, housing fees, and student activity fees are charged to the student account before the start of each semester. These charges must be paid in full by August 20 for the fall semester and by January 10 for the spring semester. Students who fail to make payment by the deadline are assessed a $50 late payment fee and are subject to cancellation of their course registration at any time. Throughout the semester, students may charge purchases from the AUBG Bookstore and Canteen. Credits for work-study, scholarships and other sources are applied to the account during the semester or at the beginning of the next semester. All students must pay any outstanding balance at the end of each semester. Student accounts do not need to be pre-paid, but they must be settled before the next semester or, for graduating seniors, before commencement. Student accounts must also be current in order for students to participate in pre-registration for courses for the following semester. Students seeking a leave of absence must pay any balance due before the leave is requested.

AUBG reserves the right to amend the terms and conditions of its financial aid policies, tuition, and other fees.

In UNSS I'll pay about $200 for the first and second semesters altogether and not more than $1500-$1600 for lodgings, so it's much cheaper and I don't think that the education in AUBG is 400% better.

As for the English language, IMO, there is no better way to improve it than taking Cambridge's certificates.I've been studying between February 2007 and March 2008 for the first two certificates and now I'm able to understand almost everything, written in SSC.I intend to take the course for CPE but since I've hardly passed CAE, a lot of time will be necessary, unless I want to fail.

...but the mental price you have to pay for the courses is extremly high..
If you include the mental price, the life in Bulgaria is certainly the most expensive in the world and the mental taxes are progressively rising in the last few years.

I donīt know if it is the right section here but I want to discuss the following.

Well let's have a guess...hmmm.....well we do have a Education - Courses, Schools, Collegies and Universities (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=663006) thread, but why should you post this issue there, I mean it would simply make too much sense...maybe you should try posting your issue in the The Train Thread (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=599716) in the OZScrapers section this would make NO sense at all just like your behavior...

Are you gonna create a thread each time you have an issue/question on your mind? Should we be expecting tomorrow to see a thread called "Today I woke up and was wondering should I opt for the healthy taste of margarine or the fulfilling taste of butter on my morning toast?"...of course add a couple of grammatical errors in the title and I may just be predicting tomorrow's thread to be closed by 3tmk :bash:
