Pag sa Japan ka, sa 5-star hotel ka mag-check in if you want spacious rooms. Sobrang mahal nga lang compared to other Asian cities. Di ko napansin na nakahawla yung mga dragon. Baka it's for protection against accidental chipping. In the Edo period his successors made this into the world’s largest castle; now only the inner circle remains. The emperor and his family still live in the western part of the grounds in the Imperial Palace, rebuilt after the previous one was bombed in World War II. Public access is only allowed twice a year; at New Year and on the emperor’s birthday. The rest of the grounds, bounded by the moat, is divided into public parks. http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Central%20Tokyo/16-1214-01.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Central%20Tokyo/16-1214-02.jpg One of those secured gates http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Central%20Tokyo/16-1214-03.jpg A security outpost a few meters before the main entrance http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Central%20Tokyo/16-1214-08.jpg shyaman January 6th, 2010, 09:59 AM The most famous landmark is the Nijubashi, a double arched stone bridge, east of the palace. The original temple was built in AD645 and grew through the years. The temple survived the 1923 earthquake but not World War II bombing. Its main buildings are therefore relatively new, but follow the Edo-era layout. The Kaminarimon Gate (Thunder Gate) burned down in 1865 and was not rebuilt until 1960. The guardian statues of Fujin and Raijin have old heads and new bodies. http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Tokyo%20Asakusa%20Senso-ji%20Temple/21-1215-01.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Tokyo%20Asakusa%20Senso-ji%20Temple/21-1215-02.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Tokyo%20Asakusa%20Senso-ji%20Temple/21-1215-04.jpg shyaman January 9th, 2010, 12:55 PM The Nakamise-Dori is a treasure trove of traditional wares and crafts and modern souvenir items. http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Tokyo%20Asakusa%20Senso-ji%20Temple/21-1215-05.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Tokyo%20Asakusa%20Senso-ji%20Temple/21-1215-06.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Tokyo%20Asakusa%20Senso-ji%20Temple/21-1215-07.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Tokyo%20Asakusa%20Senso-ji%20Temple/21-1215-08.jpg shyaman January 9th, 2010, 12:57 PM http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Tokyo%20Asakusa%20Senso-ji%20Temple/21-1215-09.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Tokyo%20Asakusa%20Senso-ji%20Temple/21-1215-10.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Tokyo%20Asakusa%20Senso-ji%20Temple/21-1215-11.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Tokyo%20Asakusa%20Senso-ji%20Temple/21-1215-12.jpg shyaman January 9th, 2010, 01:03 PM The Hozo-mon Gate: Built in 1964 of reinforced concrete, this two-storey gate has a treasure house upstairs holding a number of 14th century Chinese sutras. http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Tokyo%20Asakusa%20Senso-ji%20Temple/21-1215-15.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Tokyo%20Asakusa%20Senso-ji%20Temple/21-1215-19.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Tokyo%20Asakusa%20Senso-ji%20Temple/21-1215-22.jpg The Nade Botokesan Buddha is a delicate statue and has been polished smooth by the hands of those hoping for good luck and help with ailments. http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Tokyo%20Asakusa%20Senso-ji%20Temple/21-1215-18.jpg shyaman January 9th, 2010, 01:09 PM One of the temple’s focal points is the incense burner, constantly surrounded by people wafting the smoke over them to keep them healthy. http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Tokyo%20Asakusa%20Senso-ji%20Temple/21-1215-23.jpg The Main Hall built in 1958… totally covered. The Honkan is the main building, which dates back to 1938 and combines Japanese and Western features. The rooms are themed, with stunning exhibits of sculpture, lacquerware, swords and Western-influenced modern art. The Toyokan has an excellent and eclectic collection of non-Japanese Eastern art, many of the exhibits are from China and Korea. The museum was closed for renovation though at the time of visit. http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q128/shyaman_king/Asian%20Tour%202009%20-%20Tokyo%20Museums/25-1215-22.jpg The 1908 Beaux-Arts Hyokeikan is mainly used for special exhibitions.
