Nasa Derby sya.

hay bong...matipon pa ko anay kwarta pamasahe...mahal ang airfare papunta diyan...tho I'm trying my best as I'm dying to go to australia...lol

yes, derby is only 20 mins by car, 10 mins by train and 30 mins by bus from us...rolls-royce looks familiar to me, I think I met him personally sa isa sa mga party-party di...

CHRISTMAS PARTY 2009

It was an early Christmas Party for the Babol Gang and friends held at my place on Sunday, the 5th of December. We had a 80s theme party but only a few came with an 80s get up.

The early birds… the first to devour the food.

Hotel rooms in Japan are generally small compared to those in other Asian counties (except maybe in 5-star hotels). This is a standard room for a single occupant, a very compact room with not much space to move around :D

Sobrang mahal nga lang compared to other Asian cities.

Baka it's for protection against accidental chipping.

Naglalabasan sila from dusk til dawn :D

Mader, buti nga LCD; and a TV is not an issue for me. I'm not there to watch TV, what's important is that you have a comfy place to spend the night and freshen up.

THE WESTERN PACIFIC RIM IN 21 DAYS

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Offices

Located at West Shinjuku, this is a huge complex of two blocks and a semi-circular plaza unified by the grid-detailing on its facades, recalling both traditional architecture and electronic circuitry. The TMG No. 1 building as shown here is approximately 243 meters, has 48 levels above ground and 3 levels underground. On the 45th floor is a twin observatory that gives views from Mount Fuji to Tokyo Bay on a clear day.

Tokyo from Above

At the 45th floor of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Offices building are twin observatories (north and south). At the time of visit, only the south observatory was open for public. The best thing is that it’s free! At 202 meters above ground, the panoramic view of Tokyo is spectacular, despite the overcast skies.

Because of the yellow-leafed trees? :D

And it's not as cold as I expected either, I think it was only about 6 or 9 degrees Celsius, hence, I'm only wearing a jumper.

Yeah, because of the leaves. I guess it must be a very mild winter in Japan this year.

I think Tokyo area only gets mild winter almost all the time, unlike Fuji area and such, I can't remember which part of Japan always gets snow .

^^ The city of Sapporo on the island of Hokkaido (in northern Japan) comes to mind, it perennially gets a fair amount of snow during the winter, that's one of the reasons it hosted the 11th Winter Olympic Games in 1972.

CENTRAL TOKYO

Central Tokyo has been the heart of the city since the first shogun built his castle and capitol where the Imperial Palace still stands today. Central Tokyo today includes the plush Ginza district and Akihabara, a shopping haven for discount electronics and software.

TOKYO: A Glimpse of the Imperial Palace…

Ieyasu, the first Tokugawa shogun, started building his castle in 1590 at the site where the Imperial Palace now stands. In the Edo period his successors made this into the world’s largest castle; now only the inner circle remains. The emperor and his family still live in the western part of the grounds in the Imperial Palace, rebuilt after the previous one was bombed in World War II.

Public access is only allowed twice a year; at New Year and on the emperor’s birthday. The rest of the grounds, bounded by the moat, is divided into public parks.

The most famous landmark is the Nijubashi, a double arched stone bridge, east of the palace. Completed in 1888, it was the palace’s main entrance.

The Tokyo International Forum

Designed by US-based Rafael Vinoly, and completed in 1996, the Forum is one of downtown Tokyo’s most distinctive buildings. A cultural center, it is made up of two buildings; a curved, glass atrium soaring 60 meters, and a cube-like white structure housing four halls. A tree-shade courtyard separates the two. Sadly, the buildings’ magnificence is only visible at close range because of obstructions by adjacent buildings.

The interior of the huge atrium is filled with light and has a ceiling resembling a ship’s hull.

SENSO-JI TEMPLE, ASAKUSA, TOKYO

Along with Ueno, Asakusa contain what remains of Tokyo’s old Shimacho (low city), where merchants and artisans thrive. Life in Asakusa still revolves around the bustling Senso-ji Temple, but modernity is very much evident.

Popularly known as Asakusa Kannon, Senso-ji Temple is Tokyo’s most sacred and spectacular temple. The original temple was built in AD645 and grew through the years. The temple survived the 1923 earthquake but not World War II bombing. Its main buildings are therefore relatively new, but follow the Edo-era layout.

The Kaminarimon Gate (Thunder Gate) burned down in 1865 and was not rebuilt until 1960. The guardian statues of Fujin and Raijin have old heads and new bodies.

UENO PARK

Ueno in northern Tokyo, was once the heart and soul of Edo culture, being the area where the old Shitamachi (low city) once existed. Today, it is a mixture of modern city living and cultural attractions and is dominated by its huge park, aptly called Ueno Park.

Ueno Park is where the Kanei-ji temple and sub-temples were built in the 17thcentury to negate evil spirits that might threaten from the northeast. In 1873, the government designated Ueno a public park. A favorite since its earliest days, the park has figured in many popular woodblock prints and short stories.

Japanese women are generally courteous unlike their male counterpart.

Sa tagal namin outside the big cities, the locals in the rural areas are really very respectful to everyone and you have to return their respect pati sa mga shrines nila.

Added note: Hindi ako nag burleque duon ano?

TOKYO NATIONAL MUSEUM

The group of buildings that makes up the Tokyo National Museum is in a compound in the northeast corner of Ueno Park. The Honkan is the main building, which dates back to 1938 and combines Japanese and Western features. The rooms are themed, with stunning exhibits of sculpture, lacquerware, swords and Western-influenced modern art.

To the east of Honkan is the Toyokan (Asian Gallery), which opened in 1968. The Toyokan has an excellent and eclectic collection of non-Japanese Eastern art, many of the exhibits are from China and Korea. The museum was closed for renovation though at the time of visit.
