www.sercan.de November 21st, 2008, 03:24 PM Project has been approved yesterday.
Will cost 100 Mil. and will be ready for the 2011 Youth Olympics (Just as opening and closing stadium)
lpioe November 21st, 2008, 05:12 PM I like it.
Any interior renders?
www.sercan.de November 21st, 2008, 05:16 PM Unfortunataly not.
BTW, it will be the first stadium wich will stand just on pillars in the sea.
Its is planned to start April 2009.
Construction will be 18-20 months
With problems 24 months
Eynesil November 21st, 2008, 07:42 PM Is it possible to increase the capacity from 40,000 ==> 50,000 ?
KingmanIII November 21st, 2008, 07:45 PM So if it floods, does it become a natatorium? :P
Ejdera November 21st, 2008, 09:52 PM ^^It can´t be flooded because infront of the stadium they will built breakwaters.
Carrerra November 22nd, 2008, 02:19 AM Does it have athletics tracks around the pitch?
Ejdera November 22nd, 2008, 02:23 AM no athletic tracks. It is a pure football stadium
Carrerra November 22nd, 2008, 02:26 AM Wow that's good!
Carrerra November 22nd, 2008, 02:27 AM But is it possible for a stadium built for Youth Olympics to have no athletics tracks?
Ejdera November 22nd, 2008, 02:31 AM This stadium is only for opening and closing ceremony.Other complexes will be ready in 2011, for World Youth Games.

Carrerra November 22nd, 2008, 02:38 AM Oh I got it. Thanks, Ejdera.
www.sercan.de November 22nd, 2008, 01:32 PM IMO it is possible to expand.
But lets wait.
Trabzon's pop. is just 232.769 and stadium is in the Akyazi which is a suburb of Trabzon.
Eynesil November 22nd, 2008, 02:16 PM I´ve heard that Trabzon plans to built a light train line to connect the suburbs with the city center
Kuvvaci November 23rd, 2008, 01:41 PM IMO it is possible to expand.
But lets wait.
Trabzon's pop. is just 232.769 and stadium is in the Akyazi which is a suburb of Trabzon.
suburb but 5 km away from the center... it is a walk distance actually.
btw, it is a wonderful news if it is really approved. I like this project.
Messi November 23rd, 2008, 02:36 PM Galatasaray's new stadium may be the most modern of Turkey and Fenerbahce's the biggest but this is definitly the nicest! :master: EURO 2016 comes nearer
Kuvvaci November 23rd, 2008, 05:47 PM ^^ I don't think this stadium will effect any EURO chance. We shouldn't think building stadiums is enough to host the tournement. Infrasutructure, and sutructure of the cities are manybe more important. We have many suitable cities, but I don't think Trabzon is one of them.
Carrerra November 24th, 2008, 12:11 PM This stadium is only for opening and closing ceremony.Other complexes will be ready in 2011, for World Youth Games.
It's a bit weird that the opening and closing ceremony of World Youth Games are held in a football specific stadium with no athletics track. As far as I know that's the first case in the history of any universal sporting events like Olympics, Youth games, Universiade etc
Kuvvaci November 24th, 2008, 02:01 PM I don't think World Youth Games is such a big tournement to have a big athletics stadium. Also opening ceremony of course won't be like Olympics.
Joop20 November 26th, 2008, 10:51 PM ^^ I don't think this stadium will effect any EURO chance. We shouldn't think building stadiums is enough to host the tournement. Infrasutructure, and sutructure of the cities are manybe more important. We have many suitable cities, but I don't think Trabzon is one of them.
I love this stadium, really original, and ofcourse a great location! What makes you say that Trabzon isn't a suitable city to be a 2016 host? I always thought it's a pretty nice city in a relatively affluent region of Turkey? And the whole area has great tourism potential.
If Turkey come up with a good bid, I'm convinced that they can get Euro 2016. With 2 stadia in Istanbul, and one in Izmir, Ankara, Antalya, Kayseri, Konya, Trabzon, and possibly 2 other cities, I'm sure they can manage it!
Kuvvaci November 27th, 2008, 08:39 AM 1. Trabzon has transportation problem
a) City has very small airport. Airport is not enough for such a passanger tarrafic. New Domestic Terminal is built, but it is not enough too.
b) Because of the topography, there is not any proper highway. There is Black Sea motorway wich is highway quality but not an express road. It passes inside of the cities. And it is impossible to Transport so many people by buses from Istanbul, Izmir or Antalya along 17 or 20 hours.
c) There is not any marine transportation.
d) There is no railway to Trabzon.
2. Trabzon has accommodation problem
a) Trabzon has not luxury hotels, even not like Kayseri, Adana or Konya
b) Trabzon has no lodging opportunities
c) Trabzon has no camping area and not suitable for temporary capings of large number of foreigners
3. Trabzon has touristic problems
a) There is not any touristic fact in Trabzon (don't say Sümmela or mountains, foreign fans who came for the matches don't care and go such places- you must hold them in the city)
b) There are not international bars, cafes or such opportunities
c) Conservatism and some guys that have Ismail Türüt mentality are problems.
4. Trabzon has criminal and security problems
a) who can guarantee that any fight won't be between durnk foreign funs and youngs guys of the city? We are talking about Trabzon!
b) We are talking about a city that even Mc Donnald's restaunrant is attacked. Open to the provokations.
5) Trabzon has urban and infrasutructural problems
a) City unfortunatelly looks like getho and partly shanty
b) Mass transporation problem... I hope nobody thinks to carry the visiotors by minibuses with calling "maça, maça, maça..."
---------------------------------------------------
I can count more and tell more but for now these are enough facts... Insisiting on Trabzon for EURO is anything like how Turgay Demirel insists on Maçka Park.
If we ignore these facts, UEFA won't ignore. And these problems are not small problems wich can solve easily and budget of EURO tournement is not enough.
Eynesil November 27th, 2008, 06:16 PM I think Trabzon will be in the EURO 2016 bid and ready till 2016,because in whole Turkey you won´t find much new modern stadiums with a capacity of 40,000.We must admit a city without a stadium is the same like a developed city with no stadium. With 26 teams you need 12 stadiums.....10 cities.I think the government (which has many black sea politicians like Mehmet Atalay,Erdogan,Binali Yildirim) will pump millions of dollars to the city to solve the problems.Trabzon planning to built light train lines to connect the suburbans. Also private Investors investing a lot.Last month french NOVOTEL opened his first 5 star hotel&resort in Trabzon and teams of Turkish Super League camping there.New Shopping and Entertainment Centers are under construction. The Black Sea Highway road is partly a real highway where you can reach over 200 km/h.Now they building inner city roads to seperate the Highway from the cities.I am optimistic till 2016.Trabzon Airport is the 8th biggest Airport of Turkey and number one in percentage grow.Trabzon Airport has a grow of 375 % comparing to 2007.They are planning to built a second runway.Trabzon is more safe than Istanbul. You don´t have explosions here, terrorist attacks and ethnic conflicts with some members of the population. In the year 2008 Istanbul still have huge transportation, accommodation and infrastructure problems. No city in Turkey is perfect.
But i must admit Trabzon is the most nationalist republican and Patriotism (not conversative ) city of Turkey.
JimB November 27th, 2008, 06:44 PM I like the design.
But I especially love the location.
Very cool!
Kuvvaci November 27th, 2008, 09:08 PM I think Trabzon will be in the EURO 2016 bid and ready till 2016,because in whole Turkey you won´t find much new modern stadiums with a capacity of 40,000.We must admit a city without a stadium is the same like a developed city with no stadium.

I am not sure if you undertood me. Of couse no city is perfect. But how can you compare Trabzon to Istanbul? If do you want to make Trabzon ready, you should demolish whole city and rebuild, and add fast farries, and build a larger airport ( current is not ready although expansion)... Yes, no city is perfect, but Trabzon is beyond this situation, it is catastrhope. Also Black Sea road is not highway, it is just high quality motorway. Even if it was highway, situation wouldn't change, we can't carry all people with buses. Train is needed. larger airport must be. Also city has no toursim culture, a 5 start hotel can't solve the problem.
As I say, we can't solve the problem with a stadium.
If 12 stadiums are neccessary,
2 Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Antalya, Kayseri, konya, Eskişehir, Bursa, Adana, Mersin, Samsun. All of them are already ready. Building stadiums will be enough.
Eynesil November 27th, 2008, 09:15 PM i doubt Samsun and Adana will have modern stadiums till 2016
dgursoy April 22nd, 2009, 07:01 AM Why it's on the sea why.Couldn't they find a place on ground. The answer is no.
Government tries create environmental pollution in black sea.
They will not swim. They will play football.Very bad design trabzon. It's really bad.
www.sercan.de April 22nd, 2009, 10:35 AM As far as i know its already cancelled.
They are searching for a plot on ground.

there will be 24 teams, not 26
dgursoy April 22nd, 2009, 10:01 PM good news sercan.i believe that there are lots of great places in trabzon.they love football and deserves a great stadium.
www.sercan.de April 22nd, 2009, 10:18 PM Actually it was clear.
This island thing was too expensive and i think outsite the city.
I've looked for empty plot at Google Earth, but couldn't find one.
Looks like they have to demolish some houses
omercank April 23rd, 2009, 12:30 PM ^^Sercan, current management of the team is looking into re-building the current stadium. It will be something like Sükrü Saracoglu, probably smaller...
www.sercan.de April 23rd, 2009, 01:19 PM Yeah, They said that they plan to expand it to 33k.
But how?
Wazzup April 24th, 2009, 01:39 PM They want fill the gap on the 4 corners,so all tiers are connected. This would increase the capacity of 22,000 to 30000.Maybe the tiers also behind the goal stands will be bigger. The Black Sea Technical University in Trabzon is responsible for the re-construction of the Stadium.
Muhtar February 19th, 2010, 05:32 PM Trabzon is choosen as reserve city for the Euro 2016 bid.

omercank April 19th, 2010, 02:12 PM Sercan, thank you for sharing! These pictures mean that they are going for the new stadium! (at least for now) They are researching if it is appropriate (or possible) to fill in the seashore in Akyazi. After the completion of the research, I'm sure we'll find out more about the future of the project... I really would love it if TS can play in a 40K stadium. This project would also help the Turkish Football Federation in their Euro2016 bid!
www.sercan.de April 19th, 2010, 05:56 PM and it will be a new project
i just hope its at least 40k and its possible to expand
omercank April 26th, 2010, 11:18 AM ^^Even if it's not possible to extend - I still hope it will be - 40K is not a small number and tis stadium will help bring lots to Turkish football...
davidhas77 May 19th, 2010, 12:10 AM i think so too. i like the idea of this stadium, it seems :)

www.sercan.de June 4th, 2011, 05:19 PM According to the media the new land will be 800,000m² and it looks like just 40-50% has been made.
BTW because of its the runner-up project of the Mainz project TS fans aren't happy with the designs. Everybody prefers the bowl of Bursa.
So maybe they will change it a lil bit.

God, thanks so much - I knew I've seen it somewhere. It's indeed way too similar to the Mainz one. I would still never change it for something like Bursa - not the exterior shape.
www.sercan.de June 4th, 2011, 06:46 PM Of course not exterior of Bursa :)
The bowl at Bursa is very nice. 2 large "kop" stand behing the goals. West stand has got 2 and the east 2 or 3 tiers.
