DISNEYLAND OF MINDANAO

Aside from the enchanting Dakak Park and Beach Resort and the historic Rizal Shrine which are among country’s favorite tourist destinations, the city can now boast of a world class commercial center.

Commercial era

Gloria de Dapitan, which is situated at Sunset Boulevard, is a one-of-its kind three hectare commercial complex. It is just 12 kilometers from the Dipolog city airport, six kilometers from the seaport, and 14 kilometers from the urban center of the Dipolog city. It is just 20 minutes from the Dakak Beach Resort, 10 minutes from Rizal Shrine and eight hours of bus ride from Cagayan de Oro City.

“According to the Philippine Chamber of Commerce, they visualize our city as the next Bohol. In other words, it will now be the one of the premier tourist destinations in the country,” Gloria de Dapitan vice president Dindo Ilagan told the Inquirer.

“By March this year, we will open the first and only amusement park outside Metro Manila—the Gloria’s Fantazy Land. We will have 18 major rides. Most of these are imported. One of the major rides we have is the roller coaster which we bought from California, USA,” he added.
Amusement park

Miguel Cintora, an American consultant who is in charge of issuing certificates for all major rides in Califonia, went over here to assemble and to train the people regarding ride safety of Dapitan’s P200-million worth amusement park.

How bad was the flood that hit Dipolog this week?

This was the chatters that hit the wire:

" In ZN, the Red Cross Chapter provided "community kitchen" for the 147 evacuees in Dipolog City and is on stand by for any possible disaster incidence. Last January 3, 2009 as of 4:10 PM, floods in the affected areas have receded and most male evacuees are back to their residence. Female evacuees are still in the evacuation centers as they were alerted for the low pressure weather forecast again.

I hope things is ok over there now.

Gamay-gamay ra man ang nabahaan. Sa city proper kay wa may baha. Ang nabahaan mga part ra sa mga barangay ga naa sa basakan og sapa dapit. Dili man barado ang mga canals munang wa kau nagbaha sa city pero ang problema lang anì kay niapaw n gyud ang tubig sa capacity sa mga flood control system ga sapa.

ang dami na palang improvements and developement sa dipolog city since my last project in dapitan, ah yes dapitan city the best city i've been to, parang back to the past, rustic design city, very simple... :yes:

^Di man gyud kau dako lee qwert n la kau ko ganahi sa ila baligya sa dinha kay wa kayo clay nakuha ga barato ga t-shirt. Daghan tawo cge ang Mang Inasal. Lupigan pa gud nila ang Chowking. Ag bag-o did2 sa dinha kay thirsty fruit cart. Dollar ang shakes pero lami cya.

As far as i know, wala cla hotel dnhi. Other investments nila dnhi is LP Hypermarket (much like MAKRO), Ever Mall and a fine dining chinese restaurant, Fhu Garden.

THE government is lagging in the implementation of more than half of its priority infrastructure projects in the Mindanao Super Region—it has completed five so far and is either ahead of or on schedule in eight others, the Presidential Management Staff (PMS) reported to President Arroyo.

A PMS briefing paper showed the priority projects include nine roads/bridges, seven airports, two seaports, nine power and energy projects and a sanitary landfill.

The completed projects are the Diosdado Macapagal Bridge in Butuan City, a 210-megawatt clean coal-fired power plant in Misamis Oriental, a solar power plant in Cagayan de Oro, jatropha nurseries in Gen. Santos City and the Davao Port in Davao City.

The PMS reported that in terms of project status, 14 projects are delayed, seven are on schedule, one is ahead of schedule (Cagayan de Oro Port), and one has no timeline yet, specifically the jatropha nurseries in Bukidnon, “since negotiations with potential investors broke down.”

The PMS said “PNOC-AFC is currently considering [jatropha nursery] sites outside Bukidnon.”

The projects on schedule are Hawilian-Salug Sinakungan Barangay Road in Agusan del Sur, Iligan City Circumferential Road, Butuan Airport, Cotabato Airport, Dipolog Airport, Ozamiz Airport and Agus 3 Hydroelectric Power Plant in Lanao del Norte.

Among the delayed projects are the Dapitan-Dakak Road in Zamboanga del Norte, Dinagat Island Road Netork in Surigao del Norte, Lebak-Maguindanao Road Network in Maguindanao, Panguli Bay Bridge in Misamis Occidental, Surigao-Davao Coastal Road, Zamboanga West Coast, Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental, Pagadian Airport, Zamboanga Airport and the Abaga-Kirahon-Maramag Bunawan 230-kilovolt transmission project in Lanao del Sur to Davao del Norte.

The other delayed projects are Agus 6 Hydroelectric Power Plan Units 1 & 2 Uprating Project in Iligan City, Gen. Santos-Tacurong Transmission Project in South Cotabato to Sultan Kudarat, Kabulnan Irrigation Project Phase II in Maguindanao, Sanitary Landfill Project in Surigao City and farm-to-market roads.

@zoro. Yap pinakadako cya outside and far frm Manila compare to Enchanted Kingdom, Sta. Rosa ga near ra gyud sa NCR. Mao cguro n ang pasabot ana. In total ang investment na sa mall kay P520 million plus na from the start of their operations.

3 na. 1 five story mall-d biggest and a hypermarket both in Dumaguete n LP City Central in Dipolog. Mas maganda ang architecture ng LP sa dipolog. Relative company to ng Gaisano.

Gloria’s FantasyLand

The biggest theme park outside of Metro Manila will also be constructed in Dapitan City. Gloria’s FantasyLand will be composed of 35 rides comparable to the Disneyland theme parks.

Well, at least you don't have to go to Manila or US just to go to this type of amusement park.
Now, I can bring my family and friends back home and have them taste whats an amusement park and how fun would it be. I've been to different amusement parks (enchanted, japan and US - I'm a roller coaster freak!) and would have been nice to have my family with me... Now, I can do this locally!!! yepeh!!! plus it should be cheap for me to pay for day pass or tickets for them (cross finger) ;)

Plus, after mag suka2x sa lipon, naa ra sa gawas ang daghan kan'anan ... :D

OZAMIZ CITY—Power rationing is in force across the Zamboanga Peninsula and Misamis Occidental, and in about half of Lanao del Norte as the National Transmission Corp. (Transco) is prevented by bad weather in doing repair works on its tower that was bombed Saturday dawn.

The blast resulted to these areas, comprising over three million people, being cut off from the Mindanao grid which sources power supply mainly from the Agus hydroelectric generation complex in Lanao del Norte.

The downed power pylon in Barangay Tingin-tingin in Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte, carries a 138-kilovolt transmission line that connects northwestern Mindanao with the Agus complex through the Abaga switch.

At present, households experience power outage every two hours, an arrangement made since Saturday noon.

Emmanuel Abellanosa, Transco’s assistant vice president for Mindanao operations and maintenance, said the power supply distributed throughout the region comes from the Western Mindanao Power Corp.’s power generation plant in Sangali, Zamboanga City.

It was commissioned into service following the Saturday attack.

But the Sangali plant can only provide 90 megawatts as against the 150-megawatt power demand of the region, said Avelino Dawis, manager of Transco’s Lanao District Office.

Abellanosa had said the power pylon could be restored within two or three days after the start of repair works.

But heavy rains since Sunday prevented repair works, said Beth Martinez, Transco’s corporate communications officer in northwestern Mindanao.

Martinez said the military had given clearance Sunday afternoon to Transco’s engineering team to enter the area where the downed pylon is located but the repair crew’s convoy was stuck in mud as they negotiated the road.

On Sunday morning, Transco attempted to bring emergency restoration system (ERS) materials and crew into the area via a chopper but was prevented again by bad weather.

She said Transco sought to install an emergency structure to temporarily replace the damaged steel tower so that power could begin to be wheeled into the transmission line it carries.

Transco department manager for Lanao Avelino Dawis disclosed that heavy rains since Sunday hampered the repair works causing some delay in restoring power to the line.

Zamboanga del Norte Electric Cooperative (ZANECO) Adelmo Laput, on the other hand, said the blackout did not only bring inconvenience to the public but great losses to the business establishments in the area as well. He added that even ZANECO had incurred P1.6 million in losses in the first two days of the blackout.
"The ones making brisk sales this time are only those selling candles and kerosene, "said one consumer who minced no words against those behind the Transco tower blast.

Nindot r gyud kau ang city kay limpyo even ang mga malls. Everytime mosoroy ko sa Iligan ga stores di kau ko kontento kay wko naanad og hugaw og abog. Even here in MSU ga murag Baguio ang weather pero ang lugar pud lagi murag suok2 sa Manila kay daghan basura.

Dipolog city 19 January) -- Zamboanga del Norte provincial health officer Dr. Carmencita P. Icao brought big smiles to Subanen tribal leaders from the municipalities of Siayan, Sindangan and Leon Postigo in a recent consultative dialogue when she announced that the indigenous people in these towns shall receive a P25 million grant from the World bank (WB).

Icao disclosed that the provincial government would identify the different programs especially on health services which could benefit the members of the Subanen tribe.

However, only those with authentic records that they belong to such tribe could benefit from the aid.

The grant is intended to improve the health facilities of the province and to provide the indigenous people a safe source of drinking water.

The World Bank, Icao said, was challenged to help the indigenous people in the province because it had seen the high incidence of malnutrition among them.

The provincial health officer also encouraged the barangay health workers in the area to religiously attend to their work so the people would not be deprived of the government health services. (PF/PIA-ZN) [top]

Dipolog City (19 January) -- As the operator of the barge cruising the Ozamis-Mucas route of Misamis Occidental and Lanao del Norte provinces had expressed his desire to service the Dapitan-Dumaguete route, Zamboanga del Norte governor Rolando E. Yebes warmly welcomed the plan saying more ships at Pulauan Port could mean a healthy economy.

The governor disclosed that a negotiation has already been undertaken by the shipping company and provincial attorney Jes Gal. Sarmiento,Jr.

"More ships mean brisk economy," Gov. Yebes said wishing that there could be a ship leaving the port especially bound for Visayas every three hours.

Yebes also narrated what he had personally seen when he traveled through the Strong Republic Nautical Highway where big trucks from as far as General Santos City lined up for the roll-on, roll off (RO-RO) port at Pulauan for Visayas.

He felt there were several rolling cargoes which could not be readily accommodated due to lack of ships bound for the Visayas.

Presently, there are four shipping companies plying the nautical highway in Dapitan but these are seen to be lacking to serve the growing number of RO-RO cargoes.

Dipolog City (19 January) -- Now that internet service providers, internet cafes and other establishments offering similar services have to renew their business licenses, the city government here took the opportunity of urging them to observe Ordinance No. 07-193 better known as Anti-cyber Pornography Ordinance of 2007 of Dipolog City.

Copies of said ordinance were distributed to all internet establishments in order to protect the rights of every resident of the city especially the women and children.

The city government led by Mayor Evelyn T. Uy, is asking all operators of internet cafes to strictly observe the anti-cyber porn ordinance to curb cyber prostitution and child pornography which have become widespread nowadays in almost all parts of the globe.

ILIGAN CITY—After enduring power rationing for eight days, which meant brownouts every two hours, over three million residents in five Mindanao provinces are now assured of sufficient electricity supply.

Around 5 p.m. Saturday, the Abaga-Agus 5 138-kilovolt power transmission line had been re-energized, said Emmanuel Abellanosa, assistant vice president for Mindanao operations of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP), which took over ownership of the National Transmission Corp. (Transco) last Jan. 15.

The said line feeds power from the Agus hydroelectric generation complex in Lanao del Norte into the entire Zamboanga Peninsula, Misamis Occidental and parts of Lanao del Norte.

One of the steel towers located in a hinterland village of Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte that carries this line was bombed on Jan. 10, causing a trip-off and cutting the region from the Mindanao power grid.

With the reconnection of the region into the Mindanao power grid, Abellanosa also announced the lifting of the power rationing scheme.

On Friday afternoon, the then Transco’s repair crew completed the set-up of the 65-foot emergency restoration system (ERS) tower which will temporarily carry the transmission line as work on a four-legged regular pylon is underway.

On Saturday morning, the conductor wires previously carried by the bombed tower were transferred to the ERS.

Beth Martinez, NGCP’s corporate communications officer in northwestern Mindanao, said the activity was the final stage of the repair work which will prop up about a kilometer-long transmission wire.

For eight days, the provinces of Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay, Misamis Occidental, and half of Lanao del Norte, and Zamboanga City have experienced power rationing.

Since Jan. 10, power that was distributed throughout the region was sourced from a plant in Sangali, Zamboanga City but had to be rationed off as it only supplied 90 megawatts as against the region’s 150-megawatt demand.

Bad weather and security concerns had delayed the repair works which only started on Jan. 12.

ZANDIDAP is part of Mindanao Railway System

In answer to the letter sent by Gov. Yebes dated November 20, 2008 urging for the inclusion of Zamboanga del Norte and the cities of Dipolog and Dapitan in the Mindanao Railway System, Under Secretary for Railway Guiling Mamondiong of the Department of Transportation and Communications responded favorably for the inclusion.

The undersecretary informed the governor that the province and the two cities have already been included in the feasibility study for the first quarter of 2009.

Earlier Yebes was frustrated to know that the Zamboanga Peninsula was excluded as the railway system was planned to end at Iligan City only.

He then wrote PGMA citing reasons for the plea for inclusion. He cited the proximity of the province to the Visayas and Luzon Market and the establishment of the Strong Republic Nautical Highway in Dapitan.

During the recent meeting of the National Anti-Poverty Commission which took up the Livelihood and Job Generation Program, the governor disclosed Under-secretary Mamondiong’s response happily.

He was beaming with pride over the P4B worth of projects that Malacañang gave the province and considered the recent inclusion in the railway system as another gift from PGMA.

“All that I have asked from her were given to us… this is the fist time in the province’s history that Malacañang has showered it with so many blessings,” Gov. Yebes said happily. (Press Freedom, Vol. XXI No.8)

No probz man ang LP Dipolog kay makaexpand man cla kay dako pa kayo ang yuta sa luyo sa ìla mall d pareha sa LP Dgt ga wa nay ka exapanan. Agree, Kulang gyud btaw arrangement og interior ang shopping center.

My dad has a major part of the construction of the Friendly Mart and Tops Plaza hotel and some few tall buildings in Dipolog. It is really nice to have all these buildings being appreciated by some people. My dad already retired on construction though... now into full time farming.

Ang pagsulod sa mga dagkung negosyo dinhi sa dakbayan sa Dipolog nagtimailhan nga ang dakbayan usa na ka malamboon ug kasaligan sa natad sa negosyo dinhing dapita sa Mindanao.

Yes Dash mi gana na tanan kay kampanti naman ang LP sa supply sa kuryente nga gi provide sa ZANECO then ok na ang supply tanan ug sa umaabot pang mga establishments...Gi tutukan man gud ni sa gobyerno nga makahtag ug saktong supply ang ZANECO..Pero now okay na au para sa tanan ang supply nga giprovide sa ZANECO....
