It's going to be cheaper to take a trip on BC Ferries, especially for the next two months.
A one-third cut in fares will be in effect throughout December and January – one of the new measures being introduced by the provincial government in response to the global economic downturn.
The plunge in oil prices in recent months also means the remaining fuel surcharge on ferry trips is being eliminated.
The surcharge ends Dec. 5 on all minor routes, including the Horseshoe Bay-Langdale ferry.
It will be eliminated Dec. 19 from all major routes, including Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay, Tsawwassen-Duke Point and Horseshoe Bay-Departure Bay.
