Carrerra November 26th, 2008, 03:41 PM So the new stadium will be built on the place of the old stadium?
Grasshopper Zurich November 26th, 2008, 03:48 PM right !
Carrerra November 26th, 2008, 03:52 PM Congratulations! Really nice stadium! Is its capacity 30K?
masterpaul November 26th, 2008, 06:29 PM this thread should be moved.. to under construction.
A nice and interesting stadium.
JimB November 26th, 2008, 06:39 PM I like it. Unique without being too silly. Should be a good stadium for watching football.
Who are the architects?
Grasshopper Zurich November 26th, 2008, 06:45 PM meili & peter architects from zurich
bluelight November 27th, 2008, 03:51 AM Hotel that has rooms with windows overlooking the ground? Fitness center overlooking the ground? I'm really not liking it... It seems that everything else is more important than football, the game itself is treated like an amusing sideshow... like a plasma TV in a bar. Takes all the magic and passion from the stadium experience...
No offence, but from the perspective of a football fan this concept is highly disturbing...
Modern football... :puke:
Maximus1962 November 27th, 2008, 11:29 AM Looks nice, although I'm a bit more of a conservative fan... therefore the idea of the hotel rooms with pitch view, or the restaurant/lounge with the cabanas... let's just say that it doesn't float my boat...:ohno:
Greg November 27th, 2008, 11:45 AM We have a thread for this in the Switzerland Forum Zurich section.

The old stadium will be demolished soon. However, it is still uncertain that the new stadium will be built for sure. There is still a appeal pending with the federal court in Zurich and the current financial crisis hit Credit Suisse the main investor hard.
www.sercan.de November 27th, 2008, 03:36 PM so its not u/c?
Grasshopper Zurich November 27th, 2008, 04:13 PM grasshopper fans are also conservative. despite vip and hotel is a real football-stadium
Alli November 27th, 2008, 08:59 PM I'm also a conservative Fan, but this is a unique stadium to be proud of!
I was in Zürich in June and didn't really like the Letzigrund during EURO 2008, Grasshoppers stadium will be much better for real football fans!

lpioe December 5th, 2008, 04:17 PM This should be put under proposed, its not under construction.
They are just destructing the old stadium, but the new one won't be build right after that, in fact it could take quite a while until they really start.
Carrerra December 6th, 2008, 02:33 PM I agree with Ipioe
michał_ December 6th, 2008, 07:20 PM meili & peter architects from zurich
What about Bétrix & Consolascio Architekten? I've read they've been responsible for both Letzi and Stadion Zurich. Were they any part of this?
railcity December 9th, 2008, 07:29 PM What about Bétrix & Consolascio Architekten? I've read they've been responsible for both Letzi and Stadion Zurich. Were they any part of this?
No. The two stadiums have different local architects.
I am really looking forward to this stadium. The 5 edges will give it a whole new kind of atmosphere, feel, dynamic and characteristic. This effect is known from meetings - there is much more communication and interaction on a roundtable than on a longtable. This stadium has more roundtable features than other stadia - a roundtable of 30'000 people. ;) Imagine eg. La Ola in such a stadium.

Bobby3 January 26th, 2009, 07:39 PM Shame to see the old style grounds go, not many left.
Banjaluchanin January 26th, 2009, 07:51 PM Great design on the outside, unfortunately not so pretty concrete walls on the inside. But in general a very interesting stadium.
Grasshopper Zurich January 26th, 2009, 08:04 PM i hope soon we will return back here in the new stadium
PaulFCB January 27th, 2009, 06:22 PM Much better then Letzigrund...it's actually ironic I see a club build a stadium at the size of a Euro 2008 now thinking for them 30.000 seemed a challenge as the stadiums except Basel were pretty small before.
It would have been nice to have it at the Euro especially that Romania played 2 games on Letzigrund that seemed the worse stadium for fans in the championship.
DinamiT January 27th, 2009, 09:59 PM modern... ;)
Grasshopper Zurich January 27th, 2009, 10:57 PM i hate the Letzigrund, large distance, no atmosphere, not many spectators
Carrerra January 28th, 2009, 03:57 AM It's very unique and original. It would be definately one of Zurich's landmarks. I look forward to its completion.
Grasshopper Zurich January 28th, 2009, 01:40 PM new stadium :
today the permit has been issued
time for further appeals from the neighbors : 30 days
i hope they let it be

Carrerra January 28th, 2009, 01:44 PM That means the neighbors can no longer appeal to the court in 30 days? D-30!

Chimaera January 29th, 2009, 12:03 PM It does, but the Hardtürm design is a few years old...
Grasshopper Zurich February 5th, 2009, 01:27 PM the president of Grasshopper Club Zürich, Roger Berbig ( goalkeeper legend ) says that the capacity must be reduced because otherwise the costs for the rent is too high.
he is regularly in discussions with the city and credit suisse. for him the stadium is generally too large
Aka February 6th, 2009, 09:06 PM Shouldn't this thread be moved to "under construction"?
www.sercan.de February 6th, 2009, 09:16 PM But whats u/c? :)

Livno80101 March 17th, 2009, 10:43 PM ultra modern, I d like stadium like this in Zagreb for my club Dinamo, it's
Hoffenheim May 5th, 2009, 06:41 PM Any new pics?
Jim856796 May 6th, 2009, 12:47 AM I don't really like the design of the new Hardturm Stadium. The new stadium's groundprint will look like a pentagon and its upper tier looks irregular. Should have come up with a different design for new stadium.
railcity May 6th, 2009, 10:43 AM Any new pics?
Currently not. The old stadium is deconstructed. There is still one legal objection by neighbours which has to be resolved. In one month there should be more info.
Grasshopper Zurich May 6th, 2009, 06:18 PM we need a stadium like this

railcity May 7th, 2009, 01:38 AM we need a stadium like this
http://www.footballgroundguide.com/preston_north_end/
I like the pentagon very much. It's something original that doesn't exist anywhere in the world yet. And the atmosphere in such a stadium will be better than in a rectangle, I'm sure.
Plus of course, it can be financeable. Your Preston North End ground would not be realisable financially in Zurich, unless you give the necessary money out of your personal pocket to buy the property and build the stadium. ;)
Axelferis May 9th, 2009, 12:10 AM why stadiums in switzerland are so ugly??? :(
S.T.Y AP May 9th, 2009, 07:11 AM for it are is strange and inside he is modern and pretty
Aka May 9th, 2009, 07:17 PM why stadiums in switzerland are so ugly??? :(
Because they're not in Lille.
radioheader May 10th, 2009, 12:17 AM This stadium seems wonderful looking by the outside...
But inside is horrible... Looks like 'Vila Belmiro' in Brazil with a great roof.
Ganis May 10th, 2009, 02:37 AM Interesting. I would like to see this one.
Grasshopper Zurich May 11th, 2009, 02:09 PM the sports marketing firm IMG (part of Anschutz Group) secures with a 18 mio Sfr. guarantee the future operation of the stadium. the OK for the stadium is expected at the end of may.thereafter the machines immediately ascend
lpioe June 4th, 2009, 12:49 PM This project won't be realised because of residents opposition.
Instead there will be a smaller stadium with a capacity of 20'000 at the same place.
This is everything we've got so far:

www.sercan.de June 4th, 2009, 02:06 PM Just 20k for Grasshoppers?

It's not sure if the stadium will be realised now.
What is shown in the picture is mainly that the two project partners and owners of the relevant properties City of Zurich and Credit Suisse have split up because the old multi-use project is not realised.
So Credit Suisse will realise offices and flats (yellow) and the City of Zurich together with the two clubs FC Zurich and Grasshopper-Club Zurich will try to find a solution for a stadium on their own (blue). The properties are split up accordingly.
@sercan: FC Zurich has currently an average of about 10'000 (with top league games drawing sth. like 23'000) and Grasshoppers about 6'500, but the current stadium is very unpopular with the fans and a doubling or even trippling of fans in a new football stadium is realistic considering the experiences made in Bern and Basel. So, 30'000 would be for sure the maximum needed, but many people say that 20'000 would be enough as well. At least for the league. Of course, in this case, there would be no important internationals in Zurich even though it's by far the biggest city of the country.
lpioe June 6th, 2009, 12:12 AM It's not sure if the stadium will be realised now.
You mean it's possible there will be no stadium built at all?
About the size. I think they should build it 20k and make it easily expandable to 30k.
railcity June 6th, 2009, 05:57 PM You mean it's possible there will be no stadium built at all?
Now yes.
Or maybe at some point of time outside of the city borders where it is possible to include commercial space in the project.
Jim856796 June 8th, 2009, 06:17 PM The stadium should be built as a regular rectangular soccer stadium. However they downsized it to a 20k capacity and that's the unfortunate fact.

wasn't it announced dead some time ago already?
Jim856796 March 30th, 2011, 02:11 PM I think they need to cancel the new Hardturm project and build a new football only stadium at another location in Zurich.
1886 April 10th, 2011, 01:40 PM architecture competition begins in early 2012. planning credit has been granted this week !
generally, the planning starts now on again
