New Iconic Tower for Brisbane!
Page 30 of Today's Courier Mail.

Jim Maccormick, the guy who created the idea for world expo in Brisbane and architect is working on an iconic landmark and museum for Brisbane!!!

It includes:

Three Spires each resembling the shape of Queensland forming a roof over 'The Museum of the Future' which will be mainly underground.

The towers will have a revolving restaurant and an obervation deck.

Two of the spires are covered in solar cells to create the buildings power and would contain mirrors within peep holes to send shafts of sunlight down into the building.

According to the article the towers would be about 25 stories tall.

Sounds a bit 'pie in the sky' but interesting all the same!

if they are only around the 125m mark they wont have much of an impact.

What? When? Where? And more importantly...why?

I had a look at the article and it does give very much insight into what chance this has, except that "it could be the next expo" - in terms of helping Brisbane to grow up. :?

The rendering design looked very 60's/70's though.

except that the three spires aren't from bunnings, bunnings just happens to now own the company that originally invented them...

The Hardware House buildings which were all taken over by Bunnings all have 3 large spires on the front of them. :) Have a look next time you go past one.

We started a thread this year after seeing a news report about it on TV about something like this.

Built on the Kangaroo point cliffs with an underground museam. The mayor wanted it in the CBD. Ring any bells?
