View Full Version : Bridgend - Island Farm Tallsmurf December 11th, 2008, 01:28 PM Not sure where the money is coming from, but Island Farm (http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/2008/12/11/40m-sporting-village-is-back-on-91466-22450126/)is back on KyleP December 12th, 2008, 10:50 AM I posted the article on the Wales General News thread yesterday, but I'm pleased someone has started a thread. I just can't see it happening if I'm honest. Between the money and some local opposition I think it is going to be a tough one. I don't know why they don't just build elsewhere in the town where there's likely to be less opposition. I'm not sure about the amount of land available, but is it possible to include these facilities as part of the new village planned near Coity or as part of the land near Dragon Studios ? I know the Dragon Studios land is just outside of the Bridgend borough in RCT but it isn't that far from the town. The only thing that the Island Farm development has in it's favour is it is still relatively walkable from the town centre. KyleP December 12th, 2008, 10:51 AM One other thought, is it worth renaming this thread to be a general Bridgend thread ? Tallsmurf December 14th, 2008, 09:10 PM The Valleywood site is too far out (and in RCT) while the Coity site is too valuable for housing. There was one alternative site just off the Northen Link Road but that has is no longer available - leaving only one viable alternative - just to the west of Sarn Services. The Island Farm site looks to have most chance of succeeeding |
