Text (SMS) messages are pathetic.
Cell.Phone December 20th, 2008, 07:01 AM I use to have an N73, apparently the Iphone isn't as good as it is hyped up to be.
JayT December 20th, 2008, 07:10 AM I use to have an N73, apparently the Iphone isn't as good as it is hyped up to be.
I don't know what my phone is - Nokia (slide), has GPS on it (Nokia navigator)? I love the GPS thingy, its great for finding ATM's in other cities or if you get lost exploring, as I did in Paddington (Syd) recently.
As for Iphones, they are great, being an I'tool is not.
I knew some people (not my friends) who took their I'phones to a large dance party party and spent most of the time showing off their I'phones to everyone. It was really quite amusing as the topic of gossip for the next month shifted to (them) and their showing off of their Iphones - little did they know they were being laughed at by everyone.
Yep I'phones are great - being an I'Tool is not:lol:

exocet December 20th, 2008, 07:35 AM iPhone - great handset that keeps getting better. The App store is really what makes the handset stand out from its competitors.
Burden December 20th, 2008, 07:46 AM I hate the "N" models in Nokia, between the load time with the camera, and the layout its very frustrating. Plus when its in your pocket and your driving it randomly calls people because the slightest vibration or knock sets it off.

Pretty handy for taking decent quality photos (for a phone that is) on the move when I don't have the SLR with me such as skiing, etc.
Just do not go on a plan with B pay (if they still exist that is), apparently they have unlimited credit on your user plan, so extremely high prices + unlimited credit = VERY BAD. Never again would I be using that company.

Wezza December 21st, 2008, 04:25 AM Nokia 6500 slide.
*Note to any potential 6500 slide customers: DON'T BUY IT!
Nokia started going downhill when they started trying to pack a tonne of features into their phones. The only reason i've been sticking with Nokias is because i am so used to them. Other brand phones are so foreign to me. lol
Cambo December 21st, 2008, 07:24 AM Ive been through 3 phones too many this year alone, all of them either froze or died some how. Including u700, then w910i then g800 all failures, back to my trusty w300i of 3 years :)

The one on my phone is 3.2 megapixel, and I am pretty happy with it. Often when there is a lot of white, pink appears around the edges of the photos due to faint chromatic aberration (I think that is what is being caused) from the plastic lens.
Took this with my phone camera which is decent considering the amount of white in this image :D (after warming it up, since it briefly suffered icing on the camera cover)

Simulate December 22nd, 2008, 12:22 AM wow so many people have Iphone, At my school many of my friends have those anoying handsets known as Hiptops, their are very cartoony in their graphics and layout
Don't get me started on HipTops. I know a lot of people complain about the "iTool" attitude, where people can't help but talk about and show off their iPhone, but for me HipTops are even worse.
In case anyone doesn't know, HipTops are cheap and nasty, sideways-sliding, QWERTY keyboard phones made by Motorola that can only be purchased on a Telstra HipTop plan which for $60 a month, you get unlimited web-browsing (not Next-G though) and unlmited SMS.
Hence, you'll see people (read: teens) in a shopping centre walking around with these ridiculous devices constantly texting things like; lol, ok, nah, you?, etc. Just because they can. Oh, and posting comments on mySpace like; lol, ok, nah, you? Just because they can.
My former best friend got one of these and there was an instant change of attitude. Suddenly he thought he was Mr Popular, sending 6500 SMS per month. (I'm not sure how many replies he got) Prior to getting a HipTop, he sent <30 SMS per month, so clearly he was only sending excessive, ridiculous amounts of text messages to show off the fact that he was spending $60 a month for "unlimited free text messages" and "free web browsing".
PS, I have a Nokia 6110 Navigator, I like it.

mx5star December 29th, 2008, 05:27 AM iPhone!
One of the most extraordinary devices to hit the market in recent times. I love how it sync all my iTunes music, photo's, web sites etc etc. And the app store is fantastic, something for everyone and just about all of it free or so cheap you just don't care.
I got the 16GB model and am glad I did. I use it to check my e-mail, browse certain things, the GPS mapping is great and the various different searching software is awesome. I like it when I can be anywhere and simply do a search on nearby restaurants, banks, ATM's, timetables etc etc and it will come up with names, addresses, how to get there maps or worded directions.
Fantastic little device that combines so many things into one relatively small package!
And no, I'm not an iTool, neither would I take it out clubbing with me, imagine the amount of them that get stolen?
BTW, I'm a bit like L2, I loathe mobile phones and only ever kept mine with me for an emergency (or for satnav with the nokia) or for very quick calls. As for sms's most people know not to bother sending them to me as I hate typing them out or replying.
And yes who can ever forget the 100's of useless NYE sms's everyone receives...

I bought this mainly because of the music playback quality. Also have 18 months unlimited download from Nokia Music.
There were a lot of raving going on in high-end headphones community because this mobile is comparable to the well respected mp3 players such as creative and cowon. Now i gotta figure out what to do with my old Nokia N90.

adelaidedeano91 May 11th, 2009, 05:42 PM I go through phones so fast, it's not funny! I didn't get my first phone until I got a job in year 10, so 3 years ago. I had a Motorolla Razr v3, which was crap so I drowned it after about 3 months and just pretended it died on its own so mum would let me get a new phone. Then I got a Sony Ericcson, which I loved, but it died after about 6 months. Then I got another Motorolla Razr v3, thinking I had picked out the next model up from my first one...turns out I didn't, so after having it for about 9 months, I got sick of it and destroyed it by throwing it against a wall. Then I just got a cheapo Nokia phone from Woolies to get me through to my last birthday, when I got my current phone, a Sony Ericcson W380i. I love this phone, but the keypad is starting to die, so when I start work in a couple of weeks time, I think I will go phone shopping. Anyone have any ideas for good phones, or have any really good experience with their present or a past phone?? One of my friends pointed out a good Vodaphone touch screen phone for $200, I think it's an LG, but I can't remember for sure. I'm thinking I do want to go with a touch screen, so that I don't have to worry about the keypad dying.

adelaidedeano91 May 12th, 2009, 11:52 AM I'm thinking of getting either the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, like MILIUX (is yours pre or post paid?), or the LG Viewty. Haven't heard anything bad about either of these phones so it will probably just come down to personal choice, and what the different carriers offer.
MILIUX May 12th, 2009, 02:29 PM I'm thinking of getting either the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, like MILIUX (is yours pre or post paid?), or the LG Viewty. Haven't heard anything bad about either of these phones so it will probably just come down to personal choice, and what the different carriers offer.
I'm on business plan post-paid with 5800 XpressMusic and it comes with 18months of unlimited music downloads. I'm still liking the phone so far. Haven't let me down for a moment and i listen music when on public transport or in gym. The best feature is obviously the music quality. The second is the responsiveness of screen and the joy of using touch-screen qwerty to type messages and notes.
My typical routine is to download albums and playback the nextday. If the album is very good, then i keep it, then otherwise i store it in my hard drive. 18 months of unlimited music download is something i really enjoy doing because it has heaps of albums not widely available and its pretty easy to download. Nokia Music is expanding its catalogue pretty rapidly.
In general, it is not a wizz bang phone and it won't attract a lot of attention in public (which is good). But i like the reliability and sturdiness of the phone.

adelaidedeano91 May 12th, 2009, 04:34 PM Sounds great MILIUX, will definately consider that one as a high priority then. I think I'll probably end up going with 3 Mobile, because they have that phone free on a $69 a month cap, which is good value considering you are getting a $1000 phone plus $500 value every month.
Locke May 12th, 2009, 06:04 PM Why would you get a BB Storm, just about every review rubbishes it.

Im just an apple hater. stupid company. ill give you PROPRIETARY EVERYTHING !!!!
The N95/96 have everthing you need. Symbian is a great OS, heaps of apps and games for it, and they did (may still have) the most powerful processor in a phone so, so suits me.
My old k800i was a great phone. The n95 is able to handle thousands of messages and i can scroll through no issues. The k800 was good, but if i was in my inbox and pressed up (which takes u to the last message) itd sit there thinking for like 20 seconds before loading it.
/end random babble
Locke May 13th, 2009, 12:21 AM I used to have an N95.
It's sitting in a cardboard box now somewhere, it ain't no iPhone. It's all about the experience, the integrated fusion of hardware and software, OSX just has it beat. I mean Symbian? Get out of here with that.
New iPhone comes out in a month or so, suffice to say it should be pretty slick.
