Back when there was still speculation as to what project would be chosen for the World Trade Center site, I made my own WTC site proposal in 3D, dubbed the World City Center:

The complex of towers is shaped to be an imposing power figure (in a mountain shape)in defiance of what terrorists did to the original WTC, plus blend with the downtown NYC skyline better than the WTC did. They also have walkways connected to each other to increase interaction between different towers and a sort of "city within a city" atmosphere", plus is there for safety reasons (evacuation is easier).

One tower (one pictured is the recent version, in contrast to the old version showed in most of these renderings) would be in a neo-art deco style (art deco shapes mixed with glass and modern facade looks), to honor NYC's past as the birthplace of the tall skyscrapers.

The other one would be a shining spire made to look as solidly silver as possible and be a shining beacon to signify NYC's future (and also to honor it as the center of Capitalism)

Both Towers would have something that would simulate a waterfall (like those waterfalls you see on the Hawaii mountains), or maybe even a real (but not strong) waterfall. That'd add an animated element to the building complex that IMO would look breathtaking from both near and from a distance.

The complex is made to revolve around a central circle (with the PATH train hub entrance on the middle. , with on two sides the towers, coupled with a mall that connects the two sets of three towers, with a conference center/symphony hall in between the towers. On the other side would be the memorials (the footprint highlighted) and a serene pathway/park that connects the complex to West street and to a possible middle promenade in between west street:

And here is a view of it with the statue of liberty (and the old version of the art deco tower):

Also, the public art statue is surrounded by a small pond on an elevated area with a fine sound of water to make it a serene place where people can go and stay. The water comes straight from the waterfall via a stream that passes through with trees lining it on both sides.

As for the smaller towers, the shortest ones are pure glass towers, and the middle height ones are mixed use, with major retail on the bottom and office on the middle and residential on the top

Also, a sampling of the lighting of the Art Deco tower at night, with the shining beacon on top that would be seen throughout New York City at night.

Very cool! I remember this from a while back on this site or SSP. I love how dominating the towers are! :okay:

interesting. would be better if you included in your proposal a memorial

I would have, but the memorial competition wasn't going on at the same time, and at that time I wanted to do the memorial competition. I didnt do it in the end, after disappointment at how the U.S. government exploited 9/11 for personal gain.

Some renderings of the memorial:

The tower in the middle of a sacred place with flowing water to signify each of the original towers, with the names and photos of all the victims on the mini tower.

Thats actually not the last one I made, the one I had in mind would be a showcase to read each person's biography and photo, and from one point you could see all 2,500 victims photos and such to get a true idea of how much of a tragedy was 9/11. The waters including the waterfalls would signify peace and serinity and go along with the area being a holy place. The white illuminated walls are for the same reason (to signify as sacred and to give an supernatural feel to the place)

Also I had in mind a museum for one of the footprints, to be made in a dark setting with surreal lights, and in the middle one of the original struts of the WTC towers that survived the attack.

These are all great ideas Dave! They should go ahead and build taht instead of the crap that's going on the WTC site right now.

That is really cool. I love some of the personal designs that came about when the other designs were being done. Really nice. :)

Well guys, dont take the designs as a finished work, its still mostly conceptual. You have no idea how good it looks, the way I envision it. I don't have the resources that those architects like Liebeskind have, so I cant make it all pretty like them (or at least without tons more of work). I spended more time developing the conceptual design because I believe that the conceptual design is #1 and then the aesthetics, while still very important, come after.
