Yes Nigeria needs more stadia, but not to be funded by the state. It should be privately funded. I wish we do not go through that phase of building white elephants. If the interest is there, stadia will be built to satisfy the demand.:ohno::ohno:

Have you been watching the U17 world cup hosted by Nigeria. There is no point in building stadiums like Angola & South Africa. South African will be using both football & Rugby stadiums for the big world cup 2010. Nigerians don't fill up stadiums like the days of Rangers, IICC, leventis, Abiola Babes & Staionery Stores. EVERYONE IS TUNED INTO ENGLISH LEAGUE.

I dont understand why nigeria cant build a decent stadium like angola and south africa did....for clubs to use....with the ammount of money nigeria has....look at the 4 cup of nations stadium angola built with china's help....nigeria needs to ask china for the same bargain.

This is what it currently looks like (Football is actually a pretty delicate sport, you cannot just cut the grass) Footballers need even surfaces and natural surfaces to play on, they need a well maintained pitch or it makes them prone to injuries. Even Artificial turfs are bad for them. Unless it is the Natural-Synthetic hybrid turf.

another mediocre stadium

They should have left it unfinished. Unfinished concrete is not uncommon in architecture, a lot of architect's do it.....albeit with careful attention to the concrete moulding etc...

but regardless of the quality of the concrete...they should have left it..as is...if they were going to do this to it. I admire, trying to make it localized etc...with the arches, the colour etc, but when you have a small house or building, maybe something that is crude is alright, but with a stadium.....you really cannot afford to be crude.

but.......as a football fan...I do not really care too much to be honest...as long as it can host some football matches and other sports...and fans can fill the stadium.

I am happy with the development, I don't care if it is ugly. It is functional.
